Yeah, amazingly it's the shortest music video ever produced, via science. Including the second part which was probably about another couple of seconds.
This is truly the greatest advertisement I've ever seen. Saw this in a youtube ad back in 2016 and I cant stop coming back to it all these years later. Everything about it from the quality song to the impeccable production of the music video, and how they put it together just blows me away. OK Go never fails to make the best, most creative music videos of our time. Morton Salt made the right decision by making this all possible, cause it's one hell of an advertisement and I definitely won't forget who sponsored it. Props all around.
MANINIMO honestly, that’s part of the beautiful thing about OK GO. A lot of their songs have some pretty innovative music videos to pair with the music, usually made possible through different companies, and communities. The One Moment, along with White Knuckles, This Too Shall Pass (the rube goldberg version), Obsession, All is Not Lost, and Here It Goes Again, the one that started it all, are probably the most memorable of their music videos.
Idk, it's a pretty good ad, but the best advertisement of all time still has to be the Sainsbury's 1914 Christmas Truce ad

I first saw this in my school's gifted program, with one of my favorite teachers of all time. It completely blew my mind back then, and I still love it now. Sadly, though, a few years after I left that school, the teacher lost their fight with breast cancer, and passed away. I miss her dearly. But, the funny thing is, one of the only things I remember from that class is this video, which is literally about savoring every moment. I didn't realize it at the time, but it really was that one moment that mattered, at all.

This hit me in the feels pretty hard as I am a third grade and gifted program teacher myself and use Ok Go videos for entire units of study with my students. It brings tears to my eyes and warms my heart knowing that students like you are out there. Please continue to savor every moment, even the tricky and unpleasant ones because sometimes they can teach us the most.

Well the first shot was clearly sped up and longer than 4.2 seconds. And when they used that first shot they adjusted the speed throughout to fit the song as they needed to. Did you not notice things would go faster and slower at times?

Behind the Scenes explains it. To put it shortly, it took a hell a huge spread sheet made by the lead singer making each frame perfect (remember shot in 2000-3500 fps) It got so complicated they had to make a whole new rig that's been rarely used. It isn't exactly one take since no technology can do this but most of the scenes where stuff is breaking was recorded very fast.
This is simultaneously the most organized and the most chaotic music video I've ever seen.

that's the part i dont get how they did. like you can coordinate things with computers etc to the milisecond but him saying something super fast with his mouth is reall difficiult.
@@si_quest so basically I’m the video on the how they did that it they told him to mouth random stuff really fast and they coordinated it to speed up the video slightly right ther to line it up if u look u see the speed go up a little

I heard the music. Still think the video is extremely impressive. I like some of their music for easy listening but I'd hardly dismiss their music videos as simple "gimmicks."
But their music is good.. I can remember and sang most of their video musics only by hearing it for 1-2 times.. And upside down and inside out still lingers in my ears only by someone saying it..
Maybe people simply dislike the song? Like, it isn't their cup of tea, or whatever. I think it's an okay song myself - it neither repulsed me, nor rocks my world.

They understand the concept of zero-gravity because of you, and a couple of the more curious ones even know what entropy means, because we did a little demo to explain it. You are doing so much more than you can ever know.
And you also bring me near to tears with your music. Sometimes with sadness, sometimes with joy.

Good Lord, the production value and timing of this is staggering. As someone who enjoys doing things like this, one part of me is applauding them with tears in my eyes, and the other is cringing for the producers having to coordinate all this :)
They mention in the "Making of" that it's actually multiple shots, because they couldn't get a camera to move fast enough in certain parts. They don't say which parts though.

Peak Idiocy They used a motion control camera rig, which is a robot. Industrial robots move FAST. (As a tech nerd, I find it amazing that industrial robots can move extremely fast, be extremely strong, and yet do that all with incredible positional accuracy.)

Doesn't anyone think that the 4.2 sec segment is sped up? Look at the water in the balloons, all happens too fast, compared to how this would look in real life. I don't believe the 4.2s story.

I woke up this morning with the chorus to this song just running through my head over and over again. This song and music video has always been moving to me, but today even more so than usual: today is the 18th anniversary of the day that we took my mother off of a ventilator in the ICU three days after a horrific car accident (in which my sister was involved but unharmed-thank the Lord- and which I witnessed.) May 30, 2003 is the day she passed; it was and is a day of strange emotions for me and I don't know why, but I've been listening to this song and just letting the tears flow while doing things around the house.
I also have two small daughters who I see growing and changing daily before my eyes. And my desire to stop time and just have things stay frozen in a moment is quite a real and relatable feeling when I hear this song. I just want a beautiful moment with them to stretch out forever but I know that this won't happen and that "all of this will end."
Not to get too depressing, but just wanted/needed to share my thoughts. If you have loved ones, go, spend time with them and make beautiful moments with them that matter.

Whoever edited this must've had their work cut out for them, because if you look *very* closely, you can see how some of the clips speed up and then slow back down to keep the time between the segments/scenes. I know I'd never be able to do this nearly as well as it was done, but I can see and somewhat know how it's all done.

they could subtly change the speed of the video to sync everything up without anybody noticing due to it being filmed at such a high frame rate.
Derek Collins if you go to their channel, they have a video explaining the complex mathematics, pyrotechnics and programming that went behind it. The lead singer said it took him a month to grind through the calculations
Bollog Nyessy they do do this for certain sections, but it's pretty on point for the most part. You definitely can't say this was "easily" done and does deserve massive respect.

Korean Pathfinder well they did one in a free falling plane where is looked like zero G.
Parkway Drive has a video where they're sky diving for part of it. It's not the entire video, but it's pretty cool. OK Go could do it better.

Why do you guys make me cry every time? Its beautiful.
This song has literally helped keeping me alive while I was very ill a couple years ago.
It gave me so much strength because it made me realise that none of the suffering I was experiencing would matter in comparison to "the one moment that matters at all", the moment when I reach my life's biggest goal.
It also helped me believe that "all of this" suffering I was going through "will end", which was crucial to convincing myself that I had a future where I could finally enjoy life (and especially working for my goals) instead of being in constant torment.
Even from today it will still be many years and a lot of work and hardships until I I reach my goal, but surviving that very bad time was crucial to even have the chance to get there, or to live something that I would consider a good life at all.
