Thank you so much for answering my question, this was very helpful!!!
You are welcome!
I got diagnosed with acid reflux like 5 years ago and was put on medication. I haven't had an issue since and I no longer receive medication. Will I be disqualified?
History of Acid reflux is a DQ condition. Depending on your notes and medication in the system, it's up to the service to request a consult and/or deny or waive the condition.
Getting to the island did you go through guam? I think you were on the same flight as my wife and I
I did. Small world!
Question, if i went to MEPS back in 2012 and had to get waivers but decided to not pursue enlistment would meps still have my records from 2012?
Typically, MEPS records are only required to be held for 5 years and then destroyed. If you never processed past MEPS then your records should have been destroyed years ago.
I am taking griseofulvin (prescription for toe fungus), also my toe fungus is very miniscule and is barely noticeable. Should I be worried about this? Also do referrals to specialists show up on genesis?
I was told I had a thyroid disorder about 3 years ago I started working out and eating healthy they gave me medication for it I stopped taking it for about 2 years now and have no symptoms anymore if I don’t say anything would I be good if I don’t say anything ?
Since you were "diagnosed" it can possibly show up when your Genesis information is pulled.
Will Mhs genesis be used during reception physical as well?
Yes. providers can easily click for the most recent update/refresh at the day of the medical physical
So I have a question for you, I took my asvab nd made a 56 then did my physical this past Monday and I passed that but the only issue is I had a anxiety issue only one time in my life where I was smoking a cigarette and I inhaled it wrong then my chest starting burning bad and I couldn’t breath right, my girlfriend called the ambulance and they took me to the hospital and that was it. I didn’t get my prescription or anything cuz I don’t suffer from anxiety or anything never have. My recruiter told me I gotta do a BH consult now and now I wait to meet with a doctor to get into the army. Do u think they will deny my waiver for this situation?
Typically, it takes more to get denied a waiver after seeing BH. It's ultimately up to them to decide if you are overall fit to serve mentally. You should be fine if that is the only "anxiety" causing issue.
So i havent been diagnosed with any medical issues but hv gone to the hospital for mutplte things should i anwser no and not saying anything?
That's fully up to you. If it was a medication or a diagnosed i would personally provide brief information.
@@owensmatt no medication or diagnosis just went in for some tests and got told I'm ok
Okay so just to be clear. They run genesis 3 times for pre-screen, at MEPS AND at reception when you get to boot camp?
Negative. Once when your recruiter submits the prescreen for MEPS to review and it may get pulled again the day of the medial physical while the provider is doing their interview.
Say your a dependent and want to join will it show that record
Yes it will.
Can i please have some advice for my situation right now? So I have alot of medical stuff that I will provide documents for. So I do have gerd and had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in 2022 and turns out i have gastritis and esophagitis and i was on medication 3 separate times. Now its controlled just depends on what i eat. I went to meps earlier this month. at meps the doctor noticed i have a heart murmur and i had an echocardiogram in 2022 results were normal now im scheduled for another echocardiogram end of the month. Also they saw i was prescribed a redinhaler back in 2022 and that was due to covid. Just got done today with a pulmonary function test. My recruiter told me if anything the heart mumur would be the biggest disqualifier. She told me that she had gerd when she joined and they knew about it she didn’t require a waiver. She said I should be fine even with all these conditions i would just need a clearance letter from my doctor saying everything’s good to go.
For all the medical conditions you have, a updated visit clearance letter with each condition as an updated status whether good or not should be completed to help you and help the service decide with even with it being a DQ for history you could receive a service waiver. Continue communication with your recruiter so you don't get lost in the sauce with other applicants.
Do you have to do a meps type medical exam once a year or is it a one and done?
Only once, at MEPS.
So is MEPS the reason we have a weakened military at the moment?
We are actually still the strongest global firepower and most powerful military force in the world with Russia and China taking second and third as of a quick research of today's date. The reason the military is changing overall is because of the society and world in which we live in is also evolving. By weakening, maybe it is the individuals are now weak before they even join? Maybe the question is more why are individuals becoming hypersensitive to realities of current life?
Hey I recently went to meps this week , and the doctors can pull up anyone whole medical history with the new laws they have , the doctor asked me if I ever went to the ER or broke any bones I told him no. Then a minute later he pulls up the record on the computer and it shows everything 😂are they gonna disqualify me from joining for “lying “ , or does it not matter because they had the documents anyway?
Typically doesn't matter since they have documentation.
Hi, has Meps physical changed in anything?
Negative. The same areas medically are still required. Drug/HIV, height/weight, vision, hearing, interview and ortho/neuro physical.
Do they run Genesis at basic training or is it a one and done type of deal at MEPS.
Only at MEPS processing is Genesis ran to retrieve outside records on enlistment.
@@owensmatt makes sense since. I tried to join the Air Force and failed my Drug test and the MEPS about 3 years ago just recently went back and the MEPS doctor pulled me aside without even knowing who I was and told me if I “felt sick” to let him know and he will let me leave at anytime.
One of the things I’m not seeing almost anywhere is previous prescriptions that were used that were controlled substances. In my case it was Suboxone. I’ve been off it for some time now and have substantial clean time. Just don’t know if this will come up and how I would I explain it!
im in the same boat bro , just got off methadone and i’m nervous about it
@@jadenwalkerbrown3690 hell yeah bro, that’s some real life shit. Don’t be nervous though, as long as you don’t have a big legal history with any drugs you should be ok. I personally didn’t tell the recruiter about the subs and after I got denied for legal troubles, he told me they prob wouldn’t have gotten pulled at MEPS
❤
Hey, I have a question. I have gone to the hospital, and doctors, about heart palpitations, due to stress, for a whole year, but it is completely gone now that I know it was my stress causing them. But, during an echo, it shows some common findings such as trivial heart regurgitation. Should I tell the doctor about the heart palpitations or stay completely quiet?
No medication prescribed
Was your echo overall normal findings? If so then you wont need to worry.
Is it possible for Genesis to not be able to get your records?
Yes. Some Genesis will show zero records.
