Recently I’ve gained the courage to go sit with an army recruiter and just try to get in. As a changed man I’m praying I get accepted. 🙏 This is my dream and I hope that my waiver gets accepted.

I was told by my recruiter that if I can get test results that contradict what they say then they'll overturn their decision so I went to two outside doctors to get do get it done. Both eye doctors said my vision can be corrected to 20/20, now I'm currently in the process of resubmitting my paperwork to meps

I had a broken left wrist fracture when I was 11 years old from a fall from riding a bike. It was a small one above the joint from my wrist, It took me a year to heal to feel no pain to do push ups during PE class. I wanted to join the Army to become an Airborne Infantryman a Paratrooper. After my injury got better I started to do push ups and pull ups during PE class. Then I joined Army JROTC and I improved my physical fitness at 13 years old. When the recruiters came to my high school and I told them I wanted to be a Paratrooper when I was still 16 years old a year before I was legal to join the Army. Because I was in Army JROTC, JROTC Rifle Team, and cross country runner for my high school. I told them the injury I had when I was 11. They arranged for me to see a doctor and had an x-ray done on my left wrist through no cost to my family. It came back fine and I was good to go from their go to doctor. At MEPS I did pass the X-Ray and lift tests the first time and got to enlist for Delayed Entry Program and got my high school diploma early and went to Basic at Ft. Benning for Infantry and went on to Airborne School and graduated. Never regretted my adventure for 23 years.

Im starting to feel like it’s not even worth it anymore. My life is ruined and reaching out for “help” ruined my dream of going to the military. Word to the wise out there, do NOT reach out to the system for “help@-“ and as much as you can, keep your problems to yourself. I’m so serious. I learned this the hard way.
Currently in the process with my medical waiver it was approved all the way until the final level where they remediated it and asked for more documentation gave them what they needed and submitted it today praying it gets a prove i want to serve my country with every fiber of my being. I was stopped due to kawasaki disease which i had over 12 years ago.
Here’s some bullshit. I served 11 years as an active duty Marine. I’m currently joining the National Guard. I went to MEPS on Aug 25. During the medical exam, the doctor noticed my bunions on my feet. Told him I’m a prior service Marine and never had any issues ever with them. He didn’t care and said I’ll need a waiver to enlist even with a code of RE-1a and no medical history. Other MEPS doctor said I’ll get the waiver and looked kind of annoyed at the other doc. Whatever. But recruiter is pissed that they DQd me for a condition that has never been an issue and that I’ve already served. But, I should be enlisted by Sept 1.
I started a conversation with a recruiter at my university, really just wanted to talk about how and why people sign up as I wasn't really ready to sign up that day but the recruiter just got right into asking these medical and legal questions mentioned in the video. He started asking questions and filling out paperwork before I even had a chance to tell him why I was interested. He wasn't rude or anything, but he seemed really ready to sign me up, obviously. I was honest about everything, including my legal issues (2 misdemeanor drug charges). He got really dismissive after finding out about these charges, but he did mention the waiver. The charges are over 5 years old, but he texted me later saying it wouldn't happen. The information in this video makes me feel like if he had taken the time to listen to me and asked more personal questions he would have been willing and able to get a waiver and he was just being dismissive. Anyone out there able to comment on this? Thanks
My recruiter told me the same thing but I didn’t have any misdemeanors or charges with drugs but was fired from a job for failing a drug test and had traffic infractions, seems now adays your chances of being approved with waivers are only as good as your recruiter is trying
Yeah but you can always try a different recruiter. If you didn’t get disqualified, you can still try the same branch. Because he just decided not to help and sounded like he didn’t want to go through waiving. My current recruiter seems more level headed and willing than my last one, my last one wasn’t even there at my appointment with him, which I’m thankful for
@@logger22 That's actually really good to know. As far as I know, he never completed any actual paperwork. I will probably finish my education at this point first, but I'm glad it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. Thanks!

I spent the last two years getting a waiver for Raynaud's. I finally got one but then needed another one for different elevations in my blood test. ( because i was prior service ) if i wasn't prior i wouldn't of needed the second waiver, but i cant stress this enough recruiters make a big difference on whether or not you go forward. if one recruiter doesn't work try another. I finally got back in at the age of 26 lol. I leave july 12th for 74d, CBRN. If anyone knows anyone with this mos i want some details please.
My son went through something similar. Worked on getting a Medical waver after 1 had already been denied. He spent 1.5 yrs. Working on getting this waived. Must’ve tried working with several diff. Recruiters because many didn’t really want to take on the challenge is working with his file. Last week he finally signed a contract, took an oath & ships out Aug. 9th. Congrats. And good luck. 👍🏼
How did you get all the needed stuff being prior service. My recruiter keeps saying I need medical documentation for my disability and I have given him ALL my documentation
@Roach Boi Gaming the o lyrics I had was my dd214 and from there I had to keep going to the doctors to get cleared and then they themselves wrote a statement saying i was good health to join. So if anything try your VA with your disability and then a doctor with a written statement saying your fit to join
I went through the whole process of MEPS. ASVAB score of 82, physical is all done, but they saw some self harm scars and since they can see all medical records with the genesis, they saw that I was on antidepressants. They DQ'd me for 2 years before i'm eligible for a waiver. My recruiter said at the half way point he'll resubmit all my documents and he says I have a good shot at getting in. Wish me luck.
Went to meps they sent me to a private optometrist it was to most janky back alley doctor I've ever been to in Englewood. The machine that tries to check for what glasses would improve your vision was all messed up. Half the lenses were scratched. Also I got 20/20 on the eye test but then they dialated my eyes and gave me another test which they wrote 20/25 even though I only missed one of the smallest letters. I guess meps just wants to save money using doctors like this for consultations.
My son was told to lie about autism by his recruiter, he said someone from MEPS called him and told him don't ask don't tell. Now he's in a mental hospital off base because military hospital said he was lying and be manipulative, we as parents are very pissed

I disclosed my medical procedure(minor surgery to my Navy recruiter & chief) & I already had the medical record on hand to back it up. They said they have to submit it first & wait for the meps doctors to review it but it'll take a long time because it's only one doctor dealing with everything & everyone at the same time. So they decided to send me to meps anyway & told me to not say anything about it especially if the doctor doesn't bring it up. I told them I had a scar from the surgery & I was scared the doctor was going to think I'm being dishonest & disqualified me & they looked at the scar & said it was so tiny that it could pass for a chickenpox scar. & if the doctor brings it up I should play dumb or I forgot to mention it since it was a long time ago. Of course, the doctor asked me about it because anyone in the medical field would know what it was especially because of its placement on my body, so I played like it slipped my mind. She went to her computer & started typing & asking me general questions that my recruiter already asked me. At that point, I was shitting myself cause I thought she had pulled up my medical records. She asked if I'd seen a therapist/counselor before & I answered yes because it was recommended by my doctor after my surgery & I thought she could see it so saying no would just make me look more dishonest. At the end, she told me I needed to get the operative/pathology report from my surgery & a letter from my therapist stating why I went to therapy, how long I've been in therapy & any psychological diagnosis. My therapist diagnosed me with major depressive disorder/generalized anxiety disorder & my recruiter is saying it's not good at all. Anything with depression or anxiety. So I'm just looking up videos to see if there's anything to help me.

If you have pollen allergy are they going to allow you to keep your medicine but not prescription by the doctor? And is it okay to tell the MEPS that you have pollen allergy?
Joined the army with bad seasonal allergies in 2016. Do not disclose anything to your recruiter but once you get to reception (the first week or so of the army where you are doing a bunch of paperwork and medical stuff like vision test, vaccines, etc. before you are transferred to where your basic training will be taking place) the leadership present will ask if anyone needs to go to the CTMC. It's basically like going to a regular walk in clinic/urgent care for minor things. Tell the med staff evaluating you that the local pollen is affecting you and you'll be prescribed a once a day pill (similar to 24 hour claritin), a nasal spray (similar to flonase) and cough drops if your throat becomes irritated. Cough drops are almost LIFESAVING as far as helping with any throat irritattion, oral fixation, boredom, handing them out to a battles to help raise spirits/gain rapport, etc. best flavors are any fruit ones or minty. Do definitely get them at the CTMC and bring a resealable sized pack. Do not bring more than one because when you go to your basic training facility from reception you will be carrying SO MUCH heavy gear that is assigned to your throughout reception and your training that ultimately the less you have to carry the better. Within a week or so, before you are transferred from reception to your basic training company you will be brought to the PX that is located in reception to be able to buy things like hygiene products, detergent for laundry, a watch, materials like envelopes, paper, and stamps for letters etc. and so do not bother with the extra weight because you will be smoked on the first day by a "shark attack" and the less weight you have to deal with the better.

Chalay, I appreciate you saying this, because I have depression and anxiety. But I truly believe I can make it.

That my asthma situation. Thanks for the info, HUGE help battle.

Bee sting? Even though same as he said . Only mom told my husband he had anaphylactic reaction when he was like 5! But never have to carry epipen or never been stung .. been around w bees thou. And no medical records from it
I’m currently waiting on my battalion level waiver to be approved for petty charges when I was a juvenile. Just waiting on a call from a battalion commander and lieutenant colonel to call me and talk to me about what had happened when I was 13/14.
u ever get in bro im goin thru shit rn but wit felonies
U ever get an update bro devin?
Does bipolar stop you from joining?
I got the same question bc I got diagnosed at 5 years ago
I was diagnosed with slight depression like a year ago, my recruiter just told me to lie to meps and say I didn’t have it
Don’t they check for mental illness in background checks?
@@miamilliner6208 no
@@MrDounowme are you sure? They can’t check anything without your consent right?
Listen to me. Do not lie. My brother lied about not having ADHD, got injured 2 years serving.. And they looked up his civilian record. He got into serious shit
@@miamilliner6208 yes they do
The bad thing is I have trouble breathing while running but I can do other physical activities :(
Army and Air Force raised age range to enlist….but lol I bet then have like zero 35+ enlisted people because how can they NOT have some kind of medical record of some sort you know!
So I wrecked my motorcycle and broke my femur and my collar bone and had a rod put inside my bone from my knee and the way to my hip and a plate put across my collar bone. I’m assuming there is no way I could ever be able to enlist but I’m not sure. I’m still healing as it was just 3 months ago but once I heal could I join or no
I don’t think they will let you join. You’re gonna have to do PT and put your body through uncomfortable positions.
i need a waiver for shoulder surgery and prk i think? i want to know if its possible to get 2 waivers if both issues are good to go
Let’s say on my medical records i was diagnosed with anxiety/depression. The depression diagnosis was in 2020 (during covid). My anxiety was in January of 2023. The last time I was prescribed medication was in the beginning of 2022 but i never consumed the medication. My recruiter was fine with tying the two together and saying it was for covid. But then i remembered in 2021 i was in a psych ward for a week. If I were to try and get my recruiter to get me a waiver for that knowing that everything else was in the past do I have a chance of getting that waiver accepted ?
i have something really similar to that situation and i'm going to try and enlist after i graduate high school. i don't think it matters if you took the medication or not, i think it's if you were prescribed anything
Yes there’s always a chance to get a waiver. Gather all the paperwork from the prescribed medications or hospital visits in relation to that issue. This will help build a strong case for your waiver approval. Talk to a recruiter!
@@rainydays02You are correct! If you were prescribed anything at all for a certain issue, they will see it and for this specific issue, it is possibly disqualifying
Hey Aaron student speaking .what is the requirement of joining the army and how can i join if im coming from another country to join can i still without a degree and with subjects achieved from cxc exams in the caribbean?
Are you able to join with a warrant for your arrest?
u can try to get a lawyer and tell the judge you want to go to the military to turn ur life around they might give you a few months to get in
@@Westcoastmickey can a felony join?
@@rickeyalyles9169 if you get a wavier but who knows
Will you get disqualified if you have nonactive tuberculosis in joining the army?
I completed meps and signed for 13j army yesterday. But I have a history with sleeping pills and anxiety pills but I stop taking them less that a year ago. Will I be ok at reception?
when did you go to meps?
Yes tell us about GAD waver?
How about the military personnel that joined up to avoid jail time?
I was wrongfully convicted of a misdemeanor and all charges were dismissed.. Is this going to be a strike against me?
I had a DUI, a weed possession that got dismissed and a drinking underage .. it’s getting sent to USAREC.. My physical is getting scheduled soon do you think I’ll get approved?
What happened
@@nathanwilliams2232 still waiting , they kept sending my waiver back asking for minor changes and for me to write additions to what happened so chances are it’ll get approved I feel like if they were gonna deny me they would’ve already
@@itzdon8088 did you get in? im thinking of enlisting but i have a DUI drug charge for weed from 2019...
@@shoelace7251 nope and my recruiter was a coward about telling me dude couldn’t even call me .. try tho don’t let my experience detract you
@@itzdon8088 thx bro sorry it didn’t work out for you stay up 👍
I got a felony for theft 14yrs ago never got my GED and I have a hand tattoo. but I am turning 35 in aug. I really wanna join. started laser removal on my hand. a lawyer told me he can expu ge my felony but would take 6-8 months. and 1200$ what should I do.
Criminal background checks will find this regardless. Do not listen to that lawyer who is trying to take your money.
Even if you got that expunged not having your GED is an absolute dealbreaker
@A_Mind_For_Change when wwIII pops off, they will be needing ppl, and then ima be like, no, thanks. Tried past years n was turned down. 1 crime shouldn't dictate the rest of your life, especially if if u were a kid.
I wonder if I would disqualify if I have lower back pain(bulging disc) even though I’m still able to lift and do regular activities, and if so, would I even be able to get a waiver for it
Any back pain needs a waiver and you have to do a thorough physical. The chances are okay but you never know.
What about personality disorder? Is their waivers for that?
I did my asvab retest today, and I didn’t get the score I wanted for the job in the AF how ever I pretty much qualified for another job in the army I got my eyes on, but I was off by like 5 points on the GT part, a army recruiter said I can get it waivered by meps is that possible ?
You probably can. Just keep talking to the recruiter
I passed everything at MEPS all I need is a waiver for my stuttering. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Did u tell the recruiter about it yet
@@lablabdog yes he's aware
Does somebody knows if Hypertension (High blood pressure) disqualify you ?
Can you ask them if I can join if I had a avm in 2015 . I had surgery to shrink the blood vessel, i had like 2 seizures. Was on kepra but I stopped taking the pills cause they were killing me. I became vegan and feel healthier than ever. I am 28 now and considering joining Army. Is there any chance last time I took asavab I passed with a 49 for navy but what happened was is that I spoke to much about the brain problem from the past and he disqualified me for years. Now I feel like I'm being called to try to enlist in army. SHOULD I TELL THEM ABOUT THE PAST OR KEEP HUSH AND JUST PASS MY TEST. DONT THEY GIVE US WHITE LIES? IDK WHAT TO DO IN MY LIFE I JUST KNOW THAT NORMAL CIVILIAN LIFE IS ALREADY A WAR. I MADE AS WELL JOIN THE MILITARY AND BE PREPARED
Great video
What if i had a broken humerus bone but it’s been healed and everything will that stop the process?
You have to be fit to join. But I feel like I’ve seen a lot of military have mental problems issue.
I’m joining the military soon and if I have IBS will they look at all my medical history then or still no ?
yes they will.
