I ship August 18th, I’ve lost over 120lbs for this and will continue to lose weight. I walked into a recruiting office three weeks ago and tomorrow is my first army PT
I ship August 3rd and take my apft today
Do you mind talking about what kind of diet plan/workout routine you did? And how long did it take you to loose the weight?
TheLardtoast I’ve been working at weight loss since January 2018, many ups and downs. It started with a simple workout regime of run 1 mile then total body circuit then another 1 mile run to finish the workout. I’ve since transitioned into marathon running and eating sugar free. Drop the sugar and run is my best advice
@@alyssaschultz6241 Thanks for the advice man! I've started to do cardio for about an hour or two every other day or so and I've given up sodas and cut back my eating.
TheLardtoast cut carbs also I’ve lost near 30 pounds in a few months without sugar and carbs.
My advice when you join the military: Document every single injury that you suffered while in service. Physical injury, mental health, psychological stress etc.etc. You have to go to your medical department or sick bay and have them documented in your service medical record. This will help you with your VA disability claim once you get out. Good luck!
Everyone files for a disability claim??? That doesn't sound right...
@@710sethh everyone can if they have a disability, that's what it's for. There's a lot of claimable stuff that pretty much everyone goes through. You're allowed to complain, you just have to complain to the right people. The military isn't purely robotic.
Suck it up and drive on might sound great and edgy, but after it all, you still have to decompress.
Should i do that while in the national guard?

I quit my job in the late morning, ate my sandwiches for lunch, went to army recruiter and told them I was ready to go. Even back high school saw recruiters, dad served 4 yrs. Deep inside I always knew that would be my life changing event, made the most of my time, thinking back it was better than college.
Bro I gotta question, so when you’re in the military are you pretty much just stacking up money since they pay mostly for your things. I was also thinking about joining for 4 years to help stack up money
@@lilqua8411 that’s me right here too man:/…THIS WORLDS EXPENSIVE AND GOIN DOWN THE SH*TTER….and apparently it depends on what “level” or rank + experience/time you’ve been in a specific position but i heard you van take up to like 17-25k$ a year in the first few years and being as they pay for alot already then I suppose that’s basically your savings now; or not depending on if you just wanted a fast car like society has caused most “soldiers” these days💀

My process is actually going pretty fast, I'm writing this on Saturday May 7 2022, and i first talk to my recruiter on May 4, took the Asvab test the next day(May5), and yesterday(May6) i choose my Job I'll be a 92Y, background check came back today and I'll be taking my physical exams on May 10 and my shipment day is may 23 so, pretty fast in my case, mostly because i wanted to ship ass soon as possible since I'm joining the military mainly because i don't want to end up homeless at the rate I'm currently.
hey man hope basic went well
@@seneca4670 The first thing my recruiter said to me was and I quote "I can have you in the army by next week". He wasn't lying I just started the process Monday and I already go to MEPS tomorrow and I am going to enlist Monday coming up. I am just waiting to see if they have my job because I took the PiCAT instead of the actual ASVAB yesterday. So they are trying to lock my job in. That would be the only thing to slow down the process. They impressed me on how fast they go.
When I talked to my recruiter, I shipped to basic 2 weeks later. And 5 years later I’m still in. Basic wasn’t too bad either. 13B AIT was a cake walk too. And now I work alongside the installation CSM.
I’ve been nervous about joining, but whenever I watch your videos it all goes away. I’ll be visiting the recruiter this Friday!

was looking all over for a timeline cause I have school and work that I'm dedicated to in the meantime before I join. Really thankful you compiled this info and posted. Keep up the great work, thanks.
Aaand I'm at the end of that timeline! I'm ship to Jackson 6/29 and I'm in the Guard. I appreciate your great videos! I started watching even before I was serious about enlisting and they've been both helpful and interesting through this whole process.
I swore in at MEPS on May 27th. I'm a 74 Delta/ CBRN Specialist & I'm leaving for Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on Sept. 25th. Love your videos! They've helped me out a lot.
I swore in may 27 too!!!
I signed up two days ago, just wanting to make a change in my life and I'm excited to get into basic
I ship out on June 29th! Fort Jackson and 42R (musician). The first several steps were swift for me, and I swore in at the beginning of December 2019. For my MOS, there are only specific times I can ship out (this is in order to line up with my AIT correctly) so this is why I am waiting for a little over 6 months to actually ship! I'm glad I came across your RUclips, though, because they have been helping- especially the land navigation and taking care of your feet videos. Thank you, sir!
It literally took me 7 years to join due to waivers and reviews by the board. I finally ship nxt month and I’m ready

Grayson Hines nice I’m going to Knoxville Thursday
I took asvab for navy. Did all the paperwork which was a ton. When it came time to go to meps, i said no and backed away. If you dont feel ready, nothing wrong with patience and i wasnt ready at that time in life
For anyone who is curious about the current timeline due to COVID; the whole process took longer than usual. I met with my recruiter for the first time in February, swore in in May, and now I’m going to be shipping out to Fort Leonard Wood August 17th as a 91D (generator rapairer)
Side note: a lot is subject to change in your case. A lot will depend on how quickly you fill out your paperwork, the current situation at MEPS (might depend on where you live), and maybe some other things.
I’m shipping to Leonard wood august 17th also, 31B, maybe I’ll see you there brother
Due to COVID, as of last week they may have you take the ASVAB at home. Then when they take you to MEPS, they have you take the short version that has fairly accurate results to ensure that you weren’t cheating when you took it at home. That’s what Army is having me do so others may be the same.
The time does fly by!!! Enlisted nearly 7 months ago 11x, shipping off on the 7th of July!!
Good luck bro I be there in 2 weeks
I owe it to the ones before me, and I’m gonna enlist straight outta high school. Always been a thought in the back of my mind whenever I wasn’t thinking of it but I’m dead set on going through with it. Hi sir Matt Thankyou for your videos it’s helped me a lot .

But now I have to watch more bc I’m joining the army now, thank you for all of the information. I don’t like walking into things without knowing what to expect
I ship out the 13th of July to Ft. SILL. It's a long process, but it's worth it! I've been scared of MEPS and just sitting and waiting for the right time, but there IS NO RIGHT TIME! My process was a lot quicker since my times are flexible, MOS was something that was good for me right now, I took the Asvab in highschool, and MOST IMPORTANTLY JUST DO WHAT YOUR TOLD IF YOU TALK BACK OR DO SOMETHING OUT OF LINE YOU MAY BE DELAYED OR DISQUALIFIED PERMANENTLY OR TEMPORARY. Hope this helps someone, on the brightside it's like uh um field trip...

Did you ever get in?
@@thomasardizon1430 hey, technically a yes and no, lol, I got approved for everything and qualified for all the MOS except for those requiring too clearance. I then paid and passed an asthma function test but MEPS doctors wanted me to go back to my hometown to get asthma documents from when I had asthma as a toddler. During this time, my wife was about to give birth, we were closing on a house and transferred to a new police department. So I ended up pulling back because of bad timing. :(
But I was able to get a lot of letter recommendations from Sgts up to Lieutenant from previous employer at the Sheriff’s office and was able to get character witnesses and write out a letter about my flaws and how Ive changed. It definitely was a process but in the end, I had to go with what was best for my family at the time. Maybe I’ll try again when my kids are a little older.
Good luck to you if you give it a shot.

I've started the process to joining the Army, but have to wait until Tuesday to get screened for ASTHMA from a civilian doctor (Recommended by my recruiter). Hey Matt, I’ve been watching your videos trying to soak up what info I can for the last month or so. I’m about to go to MEPS soon and was wondering if you could give me some tips about 11x and 11b or maybe if you could make some time for a video on those specific MOS. I’m all about protection, stopping the enemy before they have a chance to attack, and pushing myself beyond my mental limitations. God bless you and your family sir. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you brother 🙏🏽❤️
Don’t just assume you’re going to be a bravo, unless your guard, but infantry OSUT isn’t too bad, for me, the first six weeks were basically dedicated to marksmanship, next three were combative, and a couple more things. Then was land navigation, handgun training, preparation for the mortar exam, the STX, live fire, ftx, and then basically graduation
I may have forgotten a few things like CLS
Aaron.J.Vasquez thank you for the information brother, first thing’s first is the ASVAB I’ll get back to once I select an MOS my man. God bless you and keep you 🙏🏽💯
Shawn Gillum good luck
Currently quarantined at Kelley Hill at Fort Benning Georgia, the army is not handling the covid 19 the way they need to. My advice is to either push your shipment date back, or refuse to go until this whole ordeal is over. We were quarantined at reception for 2 weeks, processed on the third week, got through 6 days of basic, and our company ignored social distancing standards and mask wearing, and within 48 hours of our first case 142 people tested positive. (We tested a week before we went here at reception and had no positive cases). This is not a good time to leave.

I had asthma as a child but not as a teenager and young adult. I grew out of it. I interpreted the question honestly as, have you ever had asthma? As far as the Army was concerned, I was disqualified. I had to apply for a medical waiver and it took six months. I saw on the waiver that two, full colonels, both doctors, signed and stamped the waiver, meaning, it had to go through two, consecutive colonels, each of whom could have denied the asthma waiver.
The moral of the story is this. If you had childhood asthma but outgrew it by high school and no longer suffer from it, don't admit to it. As far as the world is concerned, you don't have asthma. I was never troubled by asthma in my Army career.
Had I check marked, no, to asthma, I could have entered Basic Training maybe as early as spring or late spring, at the very latest, early summer, instead of October 31st. I wasted a lot of time but thankfully the medical waiver came through. The Army was my last chance at getting some kind of real career started. I don't know how I would have managed my life without going into the Army. My parents were not rich, influential people and I couldn't depend upon them forever. It wouldn't be fair to them.
Do you have any idea if there’s any changes in basic training during Covid-19 pandemic? Like shortening the basic training etc.

Stay out of trouble.
with the asvab now, or at least the way it was for me, you can take the asvab at the recruiters office and just take a confirmation test at meps
That’s what I did. Got an 88 at the recruiters then proceeded to get abused by the confirmation test.
Chris Aleman I just answered the questions the same, even if I originally got them wrong
Good vid! I ship to Fort Jackson next month!
I left the army to go to school, and now I want back in. How crazy is that process if you're still in the IRR?
