    Do you think this new meps medical process will continue permanently? Or do you think the low recruiting numbers will help get rid of it? Looks like all branches are struggling with recruiting more on the reserve than active.

    • @owensmatt
      @owensmatt  2 года назад +13

      Reserve and Active are struggling. The issue right now is the risk of processing each applicant in hopes their current and post history isn't going to cause a hurdle. I do see this system being the new normal but I do also see services allowing more conditions now compared to the past.

    Thanks for clarifying a lot of this stuff.
    So glad I didn't forget anything/Genesis didn't cause a problem for me from anything no longer relevant when I went to MEPS last week (I don't take anything, never had surgery except for wisdom teeth removal and related mouth work like braces, etc. and haven't taken any prescription for 4 years, but I was concerned about looking like I lied for forgetting to mention something I maybe hadn't thought about in years ha. I also didn't want to need documentation from where I no longer live for 4 years ago if they had an issue with my past prescription. I also didn't want to need to get proof or explanation for simple consultations out of personal curiosity, since they might take it as an actual issue and never care about circumstances or why the appointment existed, only that it shows up and requires written explanation/proof). This system is scary if people have had a chaotic and difficult life, yet never do anything wrong (legally or ethically) hence wanting to join the military in part to both serve a purpose and have some consistency in their life. Consulting the wrong professional in civilian life can result in a DQ basically, and that's not helpful to gaining willing and eligible recruits. It's like a victory just passing the screening.
    But I still need a consultation for severe nearsightedness without lenses despite good depth perception and perfect color vision. So just waiting on that before I can either get a waiver or get cleared without one, then I can finish my process of enlistment and start the real work.

I recently went through enlisting in the ARNG (Army) as of October of this year and when I went back to meps to swear in I spoke with my consular she said they ran my medical records through genesis twice and nothing popped up or was flagged. Which surprised me given some of things I've had medically that I was really anxious about being flagged never popped up or was flag
    I leave January 30th 2023 for BCT. I wanted to ask will they run Genesis on me again when I get to reception or is it only at Meps during prescreening?

      Dental DQ can be a bit tricky. The simple DQ in teeth is eight or more teeth with visually apparent decay, cavities, or caries. If there is active gum disease during the medical physical treat has be completed and six months has to pass before a waiver can be submitted. The issue with dental is it may not be an issue now but it will eventually become worse as time continues.

      Alot of applicant's process through diagnosed with ADHD and some are waived by the service and some services disapprove the waiver.
