The SF1 bonus stages make more sense when you remember the original game had pressure sensitive pads instead of the six buttons.
Reject modernity (arcade sticks, leverless)
Return to tradition (pressure sensitive pads)
The original Street Fighter arcade machine is the only fighting game that you can say that actually fights back.
It had an immersive bonus stage of destroying the arcade machine in real life.
The pressure pads were also very jank
@@someaccount5200Fitting for sf1 😂
A parry?
*grabs a basketball*
PARRY THE BASKETBALL?!
I would have done
"A basketball?"
**versus screen comes up**
"PARRY THE BASKETBALL?!"
Why does the text on screen say block the ball?
@@dylanchadderton1Non-Japanese arcade cabinets say parry.
It mattering which punch button you press in SF1 actually makes sense if you've played the game on one of the original cabinets it was designed for. It wasn't a 6-button cabinet. It had 2 plungers, one for punch and one for kick and whether you got light, medium or heavy was dictated by how hard you hit the plunger. So you had to not just hit with correct timing but also hard to get a solid strike to break the bricks. So the best way to do it would be to actually strike at the plunger like your character is striking the bricks.
Aka risk breaking your controller
@@NatVirgoit was an arcade machine
Was thinking the same thing
@@FILTHYGEARSMUSICdo you think arcade machines were indestructible
And people would destroy the controllers, which is why they switched to the 6 button layout.
"Oh my car 😐"
In some versions he says "Oh my God!"
@@orionrei when you don't use a final fight character I believe
@@dedheddred1773 I think he only says that in the japanese version but they removed references to God on the US version
@@bira_85In the original Final Fight Arcade in the US it still has him say Oh My God. I remember it from the arcades and I own the Arcade 1up. Oh my car started in the home release.
3:18 Look at the shock in this man's face
LMAO reminds me of my favorite gif from GTO
This should be an emote tbh
I like his response to it. Essentially saying oh you can actually break the game with this, the car stage is pretty cool. 3:28
However, I am now reminded that one of his favorite gaming moments was the Ruby heart glitch in MVC2, "I want that guy banned from the arcade"
Fun fact about Street Fighter IIIs basketball bonus stage: If you hit all the balls instead of parrying them, you'll get a perfect.
other fun fact about it, the rotoscoped guy with the basketball is actually keigo chimoto, who animated makoto and dudley. also did the animations for menat iirc
Tip: If you play Yun, just hold the taunt
@@ilovekuuga Dang, really? Where did you get that info? That sounds dope
Damn JM is STACKED in sf6😳😳
i have gyat to make a new avatar...
I do like the World Tour bonus stages. I had a friend who wasn't that into fighting games before doing them and I realized they were teaching him, like the pizza one teaches motions and the bottle chop teaches charge move timing, etc.
I never saw the harder versions of those World Tour ones tho, because I was watching him play. I'd love to see what the hard modes of the others are like and if you think they teach good skills or not.
Why I bursted out laughing when I saw the loading screen of You vs THE TRUCK
It's funnier if you pull the Shocked face on that screen.
He forgot hado-pizza and the return of the board break 🥺
I think it's because they don't show up as bonus stages in the arcade mode, they're just jobs in World Tour. He also didn't talk about bottle slicing or the tuk tuk variant of demolition in Nayshal
13:15 Dawg when that text popped up I thought it said "FRAUD" 😂😂😂
If you play Fighter's Megamix, the car will fight back
Finally, another person on Earth knowing about this game.
Still have my Saturn
@@billycole852 played Fighting Vipers 2 hours ago.
@@jojjo511 you ever play Last Bronx. I think that was definitely the last fighting game on the system, but probably the last game they actually put effort into developing
@@billycole852 I owned Last Bronx many years ago. I really enjoyed it but didn't get the same pleasure like playing fighting vipers or figthers megamix.
The problem with this game for me was the gameplay. The gameplay was a little bit weak for me and didn't respond well when I tried a combinaison to attack.
It was not the same for FV and FM.
Buff JM with AKI stance is my sleep paralysis demon
You missed a couple of bonus if you go world tour in street fighter 6, there is the One with the guile inputs to destroy bottle, the one pizza making with actual fire ball input I think, and there is a breaking trucks in Nayshall that put 2 vehicles side by side and fall new vehicles if you put it on the hardest difficulty. and I think there is some more but I can recall.
Really disappointed that they didnt use Sean for the SF6 bonus stage! Probably because they know people would have insisted he should have been playable at launch
Street fighter Ex 2 plus had some really cool bonuses with the Satelite destroyer and the guy who only dies if you combo him in that EX universal mechanic. Also you get a buff in your next match if you succeed at the bonus.
Just vindicated Egoraptor. The "Oh my car" was from FINAL FIGHT, not Street Fighter. You rock.
Let's see what that does to the score!
Points for Egoraptor: 1
Points against Egoraptor: 4889234
@@TheEvilCheesecakeBro still exists enough for us to track the points?
Man I died when his avatar and stance showed up, god damn is that good
Nice work JM hope to see more of these vids 😊
Brick Break replaces Oil Drums in the console ports because the SNES/Genesis couldnt handle 6 massive fuckoff physics objects
You should've done Street FIghter EX2 plus Bonuses! Those were pretty fun and frantic!
There's a bunch more mini-games in World Tour you need to include. Two different versions of car destruction, KA*RA*TE which is kinda like a SF1 mini game although teaches you about perfect charges, and HadoPizza which will teach you motion inputs; including KOF style inputs. I think I'm missing a couple more too.
The board breaking game similar to the one from SF1.
I feel like putting SF 3rd Stirke on S is a bit bias mainly due to nolstagia but it's like whatever. I much prefer the bonus stages(especially in World Tour) in 6 way more for not just nolstagia having the beat up car stage, parry the basketball stage and even the board breaking stage which yes is in this game as well. But it also helps the player(mainly newcomers) of how to learn the game and teach them the fundamentals of the game's mechanics. Like 3rd Stirke did it too but it was subtle and I'm pretty sure no one knew of the parry mechanic until it was shown and demonstrated.
i would watch a video on a collection of SF minigames. you should show minigames from other fighting games franchises as well
"What? No my dude, you're not fighting E. Honda, you're fighting A HONDA"
EX Plus α (PS1 version only) has the (unlockable) barrel stage again, but it's a bit different. There are four spawn points (one per corner), the barrels are colored differently depending on durability and point value, and they have different patterns. Barrels can also be thrown, which looks really funny.
There's also a super obscure demo disc of the game subtitled "Taru Tokubetsuban" ("Barrel Special Edition"), which was given out as a contest prize by Famitsu magazine for sending a tape of you getting the high score. This disc includes the barrel game from the regular version, but it adds a "Game B" with different patterns, as well as the ability to save replays. The disc also includes trials for the four secret characters that didn't originally have them (Evil Ryu, Bloody Hokuto, and the Cycloids).
EX2 Plus has two bonus stages. The first has you KO a stationary Cycloid dummy, but the catch is that you can only damage him in an Excel state (this game's version of custom combo). You get a full meter and thirty seconds to KO the Cycloid, and if you succeed you can use Excel without spending meter in the next round.
The second bonus stage has you destroy a satellite. You have to destroy the wings and dish before you can hit the main body, and there are also falling meteorites that you can destroy for extra points (but they'll knock you down if you're not careful). Destroying the satellite gives you infinite meter for the first 20 seconds of the next round (which is always against Garuda).
EX3 doesn't have bonus stages in the arcade ladder, though there is a pseudo-3D horde battle during the credits where you have to KO as many NPCS as possible with infinite meter. EX2 Plus had something similar, except it was against another Cycloid that doesn't fight back.
Neither of the movie games have bonus stages.
A lot of the SF6 bonus games are hidden away in the World Tour mode and if you're willing to find them it makes the minigames an easy S for me. There's even a lot of cool variations on older minigames including a much more interesting version of the karate chopping from the first game (that helps teach you charge inputs) as well as the board breaking minigame without having to actually play Street Fighter 1. lol Would be interesting to see what you think of them if you really went digging through World Tour!
Would've been nice if you went through all the mini games in world tour like the pizza motion one and such
I don't know what will haunt me more: Finding out about stronger attack in SF1 and not trying to perfect the first mini game or that Aki stance...
I'm sad you didn't mention pizza making from SF6 world tour! as a new comer to fighting games it helped alot with learning special movements.
Love your videos man!
The 3s bonus stages are sick bc of the hidden depth. SUV you can get an Excellent grade on instead of Great if you break the parts of the car in the correct order (being careful not to over damage them until the end), and the parry stage has 5 levels. Casual playthrus will see level 2-4 based on player performance, but there are codes you can input before it starts to change the level.
9:33 "You've Isakai'd your last child, Truck-kun." - Luke, probably.
Dudeeeee. Do them all! Would be so much fun!
The Board Breaker bonus stage came back in World Tour. You can find it in Chinatown. Something similar to the chop bonus stage is in Urban Park during the day.
A basketball.
PERRY THE BASKETBALL!?
The thing that the basketball is the best minigame in World TOur in SF6 is delightful. Also with a great tune.
2:11 i always wanted to visit “Tailand”
If you hold Up + LK + MP + HK at Sean's Bonus Stage selection screen, you'll get the Level 5 parry bonus game instead of the Level 2 that you did.
I hope we get more really fun minigames to practice, like one to learn block high and low- I love Basketball for actually teaching you
I always found it funny when you get 'booed' by failing to break the cinder blocks.
As far as the different SFII stage, from what i remember, it was because of the memory limitations with the drum barrel stage, so they brought in the brick one. Also iirc, the barrel breaking bonus stage wasn't even in vanilla SF2.
never really got good at parrying, so the basketball bonus just throws me off every time. but not gonna lie still love the break in between in old SF2 some of those classic bonus rounds, even the console-exclusive brick breaking. 6's truck is pretty fun, especially doing the 'shocked' emote before the round starts, haha.
I'd love to see a video next on primal rage. The tournament from combo breaker was so much fun to watch.
Great video as usual, but it needed the EX series. I appreciate the nostalgia trip, definitely do the spin off games!
The faces of the audience for the SF1 brick break stages are surprisingly detailed
SF1 Ryu is so cursed to look at these days.
Breaking the car started in Final Fight. Loved the goon coming in crying about his wreck car.
The breaking of the tiles on SF1 were a matter of timing. You had timing and hitting as hard as you could.
sf6 for sure would make top tier if you counted the other world tour ones like the karate chop one or the pizza one.
How do you still have such good video ideas on the same like dozen games
I like the bonus stages, they should make a come back. Parrying the basketballs was especially great
For the brick breaking stage in SF1, you can just start mashing any punch before the timer starts.
Ryu breaks his hand and everyone is super pissed at him. it has the same energy as that robocop game where robocop fails a mission by getting shot to death and everyone boos him.
@6:40 Ever just felt like wearing a shirt to support your favorite Capcom Power System version
9:50 Even the way the brush guard/bumper comes off the front is very similarly animated.
Goated the sf6 hard mode parry
I hope this does well and we get more Bonus Stage videos. I would be interested in that!
SFEX plus A has a really long rolling barrel stage that's actually challenging with different types of barrels and movements
I know the video was about the mainline ones, but the SF EX games have some great bonus stages.
If you ever revisit this, you could also do the SF6 bonus games that are exclusive to World Tour, like the SF1 homage one.
Thumbnail goes hard 😮
They knew they were into something with the SF1 planks bonus stage, that’s why they brought it back
Street Fighter EX has the falling barrels bonus stage
Don't forget the satellite and the excel bonus
@@ahmedmehdawi3502 I never got that much into EX2 and 3, so I didn't know anything about those.
@@blackjaguar324 too bad because their bonus stages are great and I ex2 they give you reward for completing them in the arcade like unlimited super for 10 seconds, as for ex3 in the end of the arcade beat as much foes as you can with unlimited meter until the credit ends , unfortunately these games are rare and expensive 😞😞
the world tour parry minigame was how I grinded money, the car wreck is better money for the same period of time but christ it's not fun.
Such a fire video, so simple but so effective, its exactly what im here for, great job!
I was really expecting a jobber to come from behind you at the end of SF6 world tour basketball
Burrito Backpack A.K.I.Crofts is so cursed, I love it.
You forgot the EX games. Barrel break in EX2 is really interesting - getting a combo that lasts the entire round is a real challenge.
There is a few you missed in sf6 world tour, one where you break a bunch of cars, the board break, bottle break, I think there is a pizza related one as well.
You missed the endbosses in Alpha 3, which served as the game's bonus stages. For most characters, you fight Final Bison (Dictator). Bison fights Ryu while Evil Ryu fights Shin Akuma.
As far as I know, the GBA version treats the SFA3 endbosses as Final Stages rather than Bonus Stages. All other versions treat the endbosses as Bonus Stages, where the game cuts to the staff roll regardless of completing the stage.
You can tell pretty much that Cap hates Toyota. First they let you destroy Lexus, and the next thing is Land Cruiser
It's a little sad that you didn't do the other difficulties of the Sean Bonus Game, level 3 is really hard but very fun you should try it sometime
There's actually a harder unique paced version of the 3rd Strike parry bonus game that is only unlocked if you've had mostly good and/or a good high score until that point. Talking like mostly B's and better grades overall in general
I still quite often play many Street Fighter arcade modes today and in all of them, I skip the bonus stages now. Whether I disable them in the options menu or dipswitches or just use a cheat code, I simply don't care for them anymore. In most other classic games too.
How do you determine the level of the Basketball bonus game?
The hardware limitation thing with the SF2 ports is probably related to the bouncing barrels.
Yo you did the 99 one actually, nice
could also cover the boss stages for the vs series !
Of all the car stages, I still like the satellite stage in SF EX2 Plus...
The SF1 bonus stages are referenced in ryu and kens down throw in Smash Bros
That aki stance though lolol
12:50 the most sus game of basketball ive ever seen 👀😂
"Nice Car, Smoke."
JM with Aki stance is so cursed lol
Chilldog, you should make a video about the Third Strike table stage.
Finish those bricks!
3rd Strike has difficulty levels on parry the ball as well.
Cool video but you shoulda covered the other bonus games from WT.
Street Fighter 3 car bonus stage has a Mitsubishi Pajero as the car to be destroyed and in the background a blue R32 skyline can be seen.
I love this so much haha :D
There are multiple Street fighter 3 Parry stages and which one you get depends on how well you're playing
Is there a mod somewhere that just allows you to infinitely loops the Third Strike parry bonus stage?
the car one has gotta be my favourite how dare you
The brink breaking is two counter power and timing. You need to do both.
Timing perfect + fail power =fail
Timing fail + success power =fail
Timing success +power success =success.
In 3s, if you break the car like you would in sf2. You will get extra scores
The old bonuses games are all in sf6 rpg mode 💯
do kinoko stage in ultra fight da kyanta
lol! the original "oh my car" is hilarious!!
6:33 - I'm sure 98% of us know this, but there were levels to this. JM played the easier one, I think it has to do with the CPU skill and how well you've done score wise so far. I think there are 3 levels and boy do they get tough lol. Oh, and there's two ways to pass this. You can parry everything OR you can break them all. They usually die with one hit and sometimes you can hit multiple with one move
I am pretty sure it goes up to level 5- I have personally only ever completed Level 3. I think I earned level 4 a few times, but never actually cleared it.
THE PLAN IS SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is the street ex 2 plus has the bunos stage too..
