It's a roundabout way of saying it, but it tracks. A couple of other examples of it being used in this context are Ace's move in Street Fighter EX3 "Chikara Tame," which in that context means power storage. There's also a Japanese fighting game term called "tame bunkatsu," (store partition) which is how they refer to charge partitioning. But that was a little complex to say in my original comment and I wasn't 100% certain I remembered it right off the top of my head (I looked it up again since), so I figured it would be better and more straightforward to just say what they'd officially translated it to instead.

Highly punishable if parried. Hard knockdown is always the way to go for denjin setups. Only good in the corner, midscreen it gets your shit pushed in.
I love that he’s always just having fun, playing obscure games, doing fun little competitions with other people. I try to have a similar attitude with fighting games, like “they’re just neat!”
The icon means hold, not mash. In fact it never says you can mash, churn to make it charge faster. Love that Denjin was a knowledge check in early 3s. If you picked it people didn't know you can't block it at first. Throw a fireball at a different speed and could threaten from mid to close range. Was a good meaty option as they had to invurn wake up or get the parry right. And Ryu already did gobs of stun damage as is, so could just put people into checkmate situations. Add to the fact that you can churn butter to adjust how many hits and stun it did to further disorient your opponent and it was a small super bar giving you both ex and super to play with and it covered so many options.

This is the second time I've heard that "People say jumping is bad" take. It's like saying wake-up Super is good. Like, yeah, when it hits and the opponent isn't expecting it, but you can't just do it all the time like Ken's Jinrai because you'll die, and that's why it's not considered good. How many times has Daigo lost a set because of Umeshoryu?
Its also worth noting that Twelve can walk under denjin if you ever fight one, use shinku. Also, shoutouts to Vanao. He was the one that changed my mind on denjin.
Until SF6 (and particularly his recent buffs,) 3S Ryu was the _best_ Ryu had ever been. I was surprised to learn that he kind of flew under the radar for a lot of people in that game because he was _so fun_ to use.
I never played 3rd strike seriously but every time I saw a ryu on RUclips he was getting destroyed by akuma or makoto or chun li, didnt really cared about tournanents back then so I had no reasons to believe ryu was okish.
This is just not true, SF5 Ryu is still not very good and heavily outclassed. SFV Ryu was a solid high tier with incredible damage output a fantastic fireball, strong throw, strong block strings, and good pokes.

Prior to 3S Ryu had this stigma of being a really boring poke and knockdown character with a heavy reliance on fundamentals. He wasn't as combo friendly and flashy as Ken or broken as Super Turbo Akuma/Old Sagat. Denjin Ryu was a paradigm shift that allowed players who knew how to use him do tricky setups and tactics that many thought Ryu wasn't capable of like EX Donkey Kick into meaty Denjin for stun and a 50% followup combo.
I actually really like Ryu in this game! He has everything he needs. Not overtuned or underwhelming. Probably the best balanced character in the game. He should be like this in every game! At least I think so.
I remember playing this game back when it came out, and for awhile SA3 on Ryu was actually thought of as terrible because of how little EX meter it gave you, and as you said Ryu has great EX moves in this game.
20 years ago i lived in the arcade and only played denjin ryu. You should cancel out of shoryu into it more. You can also meaty UOH into shoryu to hit confirm and cancel into denjin. On stun punish if you jab whiff before you combo you can FP or FK into MK into Ex donkey kick into F shoryu if you are just a bit off a kill. There are also some good guard strings you can do to set up a denjin like crouching lp lk lk mk hk into denjin this should put the opponent in a split second of guard stun while pushing you out of almost all non projectile ranges you can charge denjin faster by going diagonal to opposite diagonal instead of circle and then drop a fast 2-3 hits for a stun. Neutral game jump in with MP it hits twice and has all same links also empty jump in while waiting to parry can be a great mix-up to mp jump ins if you parry in air you can do your 3 hit combo if nothing comes you can grab soon as you land.
Cant wait to see the same 5 characters be played for an entire tournament this Evo. (In all seriousness, im glad that Evo includes a spot for Retro games that still have active fanbases. Hopefully next year it will be MVC2 or KOF2002)
I still prefer Shinku just because of the fun combos you get from it, but also being able to use his godly red fireballs in neutral and Ex-Tatsu for much safer and damaging combo enders, more frequently. But, I do freaking love Denjin and think its way stronger over all by a long shot.
Shinku does a lot of damage if opponent is crouching because in 3S, character take extra damage while crouched and Shinku doesn't stand opponent up, so it's like every hit is a critical strike, so a popular thing Ryu players like to do is to bait a crouching attack, and low parry, cr. mk into shinku for juicy dmg.
Def not broken if down to one bar and the moveset Ryu has. If the opponent also knows the setups. They can nulllyfy the super. Its a case of baseball. For the timing the denjin is thrown. Fastball, curve ball etc.
I have never played 3S that much, but I'm sure removing the option to block from your opponent is a very strong perk. If they don't know, you get a free stun into a combo, massive damage. If they know, they have to invuln through it, or parry. Both aren't so easy, knowing Ryu will be free to try to counter both.
I remember my friend from high school showing up to the arcade to try out some new Ryu strats. He selected Denjin, and I honestly hated every moment of that match. I don't think I've ever hated any super in 3S as much as that. So damn oppressive!

I start playing Street Fighter 3 since 1997 and I think I hv ever seen a Ryu play like tht way also strong enough to get in final match.

Red parries happen off of block, so not sure why you brought that up in conjuction with SF3:2I, you cant block denjin at all...
