Atreus going from believing he's weak to learning he's a god and not knowing how to deal with it and becoming a little prick was the most pre-teen move they could've made. It was brilliant!
imo even with some buildup cut it still worked well as he was also frustrated by having to listen to kratos order him around, so being a god made him feel like he didnt have to answer to anyone anymore
Whatever.
Sometimes I think people forget these is how pre-teens actually are like!
TLDR; character development
Actually, Kratos was the one making him a prick. His wife, Faye, raised Atreus alone with good morals and love; he's a good kid at the beginning. It's Kratos, Spartan training, the whole "close your heart," and "we're gods, we can do whatever we want" speech that starts to corrupt Atreus. Kratos finally figures it out midway that raising a son isn't the same as training a Spartan soldier, and he was basically undoing all the things Faye had taught Atreus. If they continued down that path, yeah, Atreus would have ended up as the same cold, emotionless, selfish piece of shit like Kratos in the Greek trilogy. It's small character development for character on learning to raise a son not a soldier.
It's a good thing they went with the look Kratos has now. He is one of the many icons of PlayStation, and probably the most violent one too lol
Funny is, according to Stig the director of GOW3 - he state that after finalize Kratos design, Jaffe himself think that Kratos now look like a Mortal Kombat character (obviously Quan Chi in Deadly Alliance during that time). He jokes that "we might gonna get sued". Turn out Ed Boon and the rest of Midway staff (MK studio at that time) love Kratos and God of War game with most of them including Ed Boon himself wish he was an MK character, which ultimately did happen - Kratos become the very first guest character in MK franchise via MK9

Demeter, Hades wouldn’t have been the only one pissed over Persephone’s death, even if she did try to destroy Olympus.

I can imagine the drummer being a support enemy that can add additional buffs like constant regeneration and strength

*Elephantaur
-These elephant-minotaur hybrids were planned to appear in God of War 3, but was scrapped. Luckily, they were reused for God of War: Ascension.
They are called Juggernauts in Ascension.

i thought the atreus transformation brilliant. like it truly felt like being a parent and your child going through puberty. i was legit annoyed and wanted to smack the shit outta atreus XD they did a amazing job

The Revenant is one of the most annoying enemy in all of gaming

Glad they didn’t drag out Atreus’s character development too much, but that Ogre in Helheim was weak… my only complaint about the 2018 game.
To be fair everything is easy on easy mode
Would’ve been cool if you fought that giant bird that’s just chilling near the bridge. They could’ve gone more in depth with Helheim too, killing Zeus shouldn’t be the only thing he sees when he’s there, but they had budget cuts.
yeah the excessive troll fights were my only complaint about the game but im glad the rest was great enough to make up for it as well as boost a new fan base for future more expansive games, here hoping ragnaarok lives up to the hype

When I saw the giant eagle I immediately was like “oh I can’t wait to kill that!” Then it didn’t happen and I was sad

The Harpy Boss Battle would’ve been one of the most complex battles in PlayStation history
We don't kill Lady Hralsvegr in Ragnarok, but she does have a bigger role in the game, which is good.
I really want more puzzle like content in the new game…that is something that really gave the original trilogy such charm in my opinion. Because it made you use your brain but also allow you to go god mode and use brute force and weapons to progress as well.
2018’s God of War had some of that but it was all the same concept…hit this spike door, wheel, pot or bell with ax to unlock chest. I know I’m simplifying things a bit and some puzzle moments were a bit challenging if you just so happened to glance or walk passed a key part of the solution but none of them gave me the same feeling as the original puzzles in the original trilogy.
However the story, exploration, and combat felt a lot better in the 2018 version.
So I think if Ragnarok will improve on and add some new elements to combat and exploration…and combine that with a lot more puzzles that are way more diverse and fun to solve than 2018’s bells, wheels, Jars, and spike door puzzles.
My favorite puzzle in the 2018 version took no effort to solve it was just a really cool visually…it was the deer head statue that shoots the beam of light to open the door. It reminded me of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland how that statue shoots a laser from its eye to light the giant torches.
I also miss the mini game s . For big bosses
Technically in Greek myth it's said that Harpies are sisters of the Goddess Iris. So having her play as the sleeping Mother Harpy might've been awesome to see. She just might've been prettier about it compared to her buzzard bird/vulture-esque and human hybrid looking siblings, or at least in the face region. With like rainbow wings. It's also strange that no Titans in the game existed besides Gaia that Kratos has beef with except that Nameless volcano dude who was fighting Helios and Typhon who was still stuck under a huge mountain after fighting Zeus like in the classical myth. But they combined That mountain with the one Prometheus was trapped on having his liver eaten out and healed every day.

It was the Hydra, not the kraken, that you had to distroy both heads of in God of War 2005.
Harpie boss fight could have been a great level. Gow 1 has the best puzzles and traps . The whole idea seemed cool

9:08 You made a mistake, in God of War I you fight the Hydra which has multiple heads, the Kraken has one single head in God of War II.
even to this day i wish we got the Harpy boss battle in the first god of war david jaffe said they wanted it in they just didn't have enough time i think it would have been epic and even the Bird in Helheim in god of war 2018 two bird boss battles tooken away in the greek and norse games oh well.
They should have a time jump, and make it to where Atreus really becomes Loki and kratos has to stop him
One thing I wish they added in GOW 3 was a new breed of enemies called Demigods. Different types using different powers from their parentage lead by Hercules. Showing just how powerful Kratos had become, killing his own cousins in droves. Maybe even having models and weapons from the multiplayer on Ascension.
Could you imagine if the drummer was the size of a troll of Angrboda’s grandmother? Now that would be an insane boss fight. 👀

One I was terrified would end up happening was Ares somehow roaring back to life while climbing his tomb in GOW3.
That bird was so amazing looking wish we got that battle.

I'm quite sure that it was said at some point that it wasn't a harpy but a griffin boss battle that was cut in the original God of War. I mean, even the image you show resembles a griffin much more than it does a harpy.

Kinda wish that Drummer enemy made it into GoW 2018 or God of War: Ragnarok. I suspect it was probably some kind of summoner or support enemy, since Drums don't exactly scream hostility. Though I imagine the intended role of this enemy was taken over by the Nokken and their songs.
I wish that Twin-headed Turtle had made it into God of War, seems like a really memorable boss fight. Nothing amazing, but it looked like a decent enough boss fight. That Harpy Mother also sounds like it could have been a good boss fight, I suspect it was cut due to pacing issues. Which is a shame as I could see both that Harpy and the Turtle being used as bosses in other titles. Such as GoW: Ascension or Ghost of Sparta.
Now that we know about last of us 2 remastered has deleted lvls coming we could have gotten that for 2018 gow especially with hel bird boss fight I would love to see that
i hope we fight the bird in helhiem in ragnarok would make sense if we explored the realm and met hel too

There was not a negative frustration with Atreus finding out he was a god. It was literally like dealing with a kid growing up. I love you but eff you kid. It was GREAT

Atreus is so annoying it’s hard for me to fathom that his kratos son wish he would’ve drop him off at the Mount Olympus ymca cuz his such a weakling in both games. We could’ve had another tough ass kratos by our side fighting instead of a kid with a bow that just whines to the point kratos needs advil.
5 creatures that were missing from the god of war Ragnarok Are they:
the Freyr's boar and also from Valhalla Along with the deer there,Odin's horse,Thor's goats and the mysterious wolf Horofiltner and the sea creature the Kraken Only missing these Creatures a pity they were not used + More Stories Untold and More Gods Unshown..
That some are part of others Gods and especially Freya,Iduna,Sif,Hoder,Heimdall,Skadi,Mainly Loki and Thor who have many stories not shown and spoken about them..
and In God of war Ragnarok should have more Valkyries in asgard protecting Odin instead of just 3 of them it's not possible that there wasn't a group of Valkyries that would follow Odin's/the Queen Gná orders and the other part of Freya/Frigg And ex queen Sigrun Very strange,it was supposed to have a maximum of 10 or 15 and more Valkyries in Asgard + the return of the dragons that we saved in the first game and they have connections with the dragon slayers Beowulf,Sigurd and Siegfried Very sad that it happened this way l Wanted to see a lot more news Valkyries with new names A pity they were not placed and did not appear..
For me it is still possible to make one more game in Norse Mythology or A Story DLC answering all the questions that were missing and several Gods,kingdoms and creatures that are still left And they weren't much used and exploited 🤔🥺😭🙏 like and Bye!

It's actually called just God of War he says 2018 to distinguish it from the first God of War which is also called just God of War

GOW 2018 was good combat wise. Felt good to play but (hate me all you want) it shouldn't have been game of the year. Too many repeat boss fights, the gear and stat customization and optimization felt forced and tacked on, grinding in the mist area was way more time consuming than necessary, and a lot of other mechanics felt out of place. Like adding all the different collectables like the zues birds just for a trophy. Am I playing banjo and kazooie? Yes in the other gow games you leveled up your weapons and collected certain items to boost health and mana but it wasn't confalooted
I was never huge on the change from Greek to Norse mythos for how to begin with, it's not terrible it just feels like they didn't know what to do with the IP, all Greek gods are dead soooo let's have him kill another set of gods. Atreus being Loki and the entire time it's a baby sitting simulator. It's not a terrible game just rushed and not fully fleshed out.
What should have been then?
