Man's was tired of it all but restless in the first few games, but not until the norse games did he feel "tired" like an man who is just plainly fatigued, just plain tired.
As a new fan since mid 2022 I can understand. But the saga portrays how life can change a man's mind, even though this man is himself a god. I didn't played the Greek era 'cause I didn't had the age to do it (except for the third game on PS4, which was wild tbh) but i saw movie like gameplays and i don't think I could play it today because it ages a lot.
@@RoxandDavid I agree, I still like what they did to the new Kratos because we already seen so much brutality on the young one I love how they think of new ideas to the character and not to repeat the same idea over and over again, my only issue is that the boss battles between him, Thor and Odin weren't so exciting as the previous Gods.
@@Man0fkulture I agree on these points though. The final battle against Thor and Odin could have been more developed, just like the one with Baldur from the previous game.

Kratos will always hold a special place in my millennial gaming heart. He broke onto the scene filled with hate and vengeance when I was in my late teens going through a lot of family shit. Now he’s older and wiser at the same time I’m raising my own child.
It’s not a damn reimagined. It’s not a reboot or remake either. I didn’t know why people say this when they literally tell you 2018 takes place after GOW3?
kratos himself is not only a sentiment to what change can do to a person but also shows us the challenge it takes to make that change, we see this giant burly man who is stuck on the idea of revenge on those who took everything he had away into a man who wishes to make the world better for his son, and for him to become a better father just the same. i havn't seen a more amazing character arc other than kratos himself, and its all thanks to one amazing studio listening to their fans, and an amazingly creative story design team. say what you want that may be missing from the games, this is one of the best, the best characters, games, gameplay, and franchises.
Just speaking for myself, but I have a strong feeling that the reason Norse metrology was used(I absolutely LOVE Norse mythology btw) was because of the Marvel franchise. It was REALLY starting to pop off and I feel that’s the honest reason for the setting. Also Assassins Creed had come out with Origin so there’s that too. After God of War Rag, haven’t played it yet, I’d love to see some Egyptian gameplay! Devs take this note… Petbe would be AMAZING to bring into that setting. Seth would be a good one to bring in as well
Nah, Norse legends have trickled into English folklore for centuries. Let's not forget that there were Viking Kings of England like Canute the Great. Our language is intertwined with theirs so it's not surprising that their folklore resonates with us. Lest we forget that much of the folklore in the Lord of the Rings, especially Elvenlore, was lifted from Norse and Finno-Urgic mythology.

Nah, they just made a hack and slash where your last concern is slashing enemies. The enemies have almost 0 meaning, the rich variety once seen in gow 3 vanished, the backgrounds are now simple caves, it makes it appear like I am playing skyrim, even the camera angle contributes to that, in OG gows the camera angle always showed the scenario in the most beautiful cinematic view so you could have a nice view of the fight, almost as if every battle was a piece of art. The structures were magnificent and mythologic, big and imponent, now its just the back of kratos covering 1/3 of the screen and you being attacked from offscreen. It truly feels like a worse skyrim, as it is not open world, and has much less content. They focused too much on thecnical aspects of art and forgot what made the game enjoyable for the OG community, it was never graphics. Gow 1 and 2 were mid to low graphics but still had a fun combat system, which was intuitive, and presented new combat related stuff every 30min. The variety of enemies (visually and mechanically) also was much greater, and kratos could be very brutal, yet soft on adequate moments. The first three games were very similar in combat, each one making some improvement and adding new content, the original triology is art. All we wanted to see was essentially a GoW 3 combat system with the newest graphics that went to GoW 4. Also, YOU CAN ACTUALLY JUMP IN COMBAT
It’s not often I get chills watching one of these video game history/background videos, but this was incredibly done. I’ve loved the GoW series since the beginning, and the first three have always been memorable to me, but I was never really emotionally connected with them, because Kratos has always been a bit of a 1-dimensional character. The 2018 game and Ragnarok have elevated it to being one of the best game series I’ve ever played, hands down. The story is absolutely incredible, and I’ve never gotten teary eyed and choked up at a video game like I did throughout the two recent entries, but it’s the passion and attention to detail to EVERY aspect that shines through just as much. The beautiful graphics, landscapes, textures, the soundtrack and voice acting and sound design, the gameplay and just overall refinement and polish is something I’ve never seen in video games to date the way Santa Monica executed. I’ve nearly finished 100% of Ragnarok but I’m already excited to replay the two through completely again, and I’ve already replayed the original two as well. Absolutely a masterpiece, and I hope the studio gets all the recognition they deserve.
"When you feel the rage inside you that is me in your blood eating away at any goodness of your mother" I wish that line was in game especially the "that is exactly what I am" line
I love it when you can tell the person speaking is clearly just reading a script written for them. 13:00 He says "Hercules' Shoulder Gwar" instead of "Shoulder GUARD" probably because the script-writer misspelled "Guard" as "Guar". Also Thor is a secondary antagonist in Ragnarok, not the main threat.
I've played every single game of the franchise and have been a fan since the first GoW came out. Its definitely the best game I have ever played by a mile.
I love the thumbnail it has a deep meaning of how hot headed, angry and how much he cared about revenge and then he became a wise, mindful person but he is always cold
You telling me that God of War 4 was rushed to its deadline and still came out like this doesn’t change my view of the game. The story feels like a well-written novel with philosophical truths and hardships that blend perfectly visually into the story of God of War. In fact, it being rushed and still turning out this great is amazing, you can really tell they went above and beyond with this legendary character.
Lol you could've included the kratos falling meme on the god of war 1 segment, and even the meme aside, it is still a iconic and unforgettable scene at the beginning of the game

I did not know about this game until I watched Jacksepticeye’s play through of God of War 2018 and the game has fascinated me since. I’m not a gamer that loves gore and that sort of thing, so the storyline of the games since 2018 has been extremely interesting and opens the games up to a broader audience. I’m glad you made this video so I could understand more of the lore behind the games which makes the storyline so much more interesting!
Since I played GOW 2018, I was amaze of a different experience and it's storytelling devilment. Then I played GOW3 and a few PS3 titles to experience the past gameplay. After playing GOW: Ragnarok and was very impress of it's RPG style and a fun experienced it, all I can say it's another masterpiece sequel! The writing is fantastic, the music is great, the development is spot on and the acting is outstanding. It's a Game of the year for me.
This was video was beautifully done and so professional! Mad props to you, ill be a typecast and stan this game. ITS SO FUCKING GOOD. Also im low key twitching at both the main voice actors not understanding how big it is, AND MORE DOLLAR FOR THEM.
If the previous god of war was a masterpiece, this is a game that came from gods. It’s a lot to take when you see what they did there. Amazing views, amazing gameplay, amazing dialogues, amazing characters. It gives very good messages for families that they are broken and is giving motivation and courage to resolve their family issues. “We must be better for the sake of our children”. There is no competition with any other game. It would be a blasphemy to not win all the awards…. P.s. All we wanted to see was essentially a GoW 3 combat system with the newest graphics that went to GoW 4.
Also,
YOU CAN ACTUALLY JUMP IN COMBAT
Sincerely, for me Ragnarok is one of the best games in gaming history ! good job man with this video , I am impressed
Thank you so much!
Gaming history really?
@@raamraamji1899 It's an opinion. You might think it's not the best, but GOW 5 has a phenomenal story and graphics, and you can't disagree with that.
@@raamraamji1899 yes
Nah, the 2018 game felt more focused and solid
"I'm dangling from the hip of bloody Ghost of Sparta!"
will always be a cool revelation for me in God of War Norse
"...Do NOT call me *that*."
22:36 the way the crowd went wild for Kratos is everything!
An amazing, in-depth, and informative review of the God of War series, filling in things I didn't know. Thank you very much for this.
"Then show me what you know... I am hungry" Kratos is so kickass, even when saying he wants food
A conversation with Tyr also revealed that the destiny of kratos is definitely sealed with those of egyptian gods... waiting for that eagerly too!
The 2018 game came out a month before I graduated high school. Ragnarok came out a month before I graduate college. ❤️
I've played every single game of the franchise and have been a fan since the first GoW came out. Its definitely the best game I have ever played by a mile.
this is by far the most impressive and legendary franchise ever created in gaming industry!!!
God of war is one of those franchise that have never ceased to impress me with each release.
I love the thumbnail it has a deep meaning of how hot headed, angry and how much he cared about revenge and then he became a wise, mindful person but he is always cold
The voice actors for god of war and god of war Ragnarok are so good. I love seeing them speak
You really did an amazing job at the animations
Edit: wow thank yall so much for the likes!
yes
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. The trip down memory lane was absolutely amazing.
Millions cheered as the former ghoat of sparta uttered the words " *i am hungry, feed us* "
That applause for Kratos gave me chills, I felt the same way
This is why you have to respect the game developers of games like god of war, they put so much time and love into the game so we have the best time.
The fact that god of war was built in an engine for racing is crazy
Lol you could've included the kratos falling meme on the god of war 1 segment, and even the meme aside, it is still a iconic and unforgettable scene at the beginning of the game
It seems everyone recently that even puts that clip in their video gets age restricted for suicidal themes
That was one of the greatest breakdowns of a video game franchise if not the best nice job man i give this a 10/10 lol
I was a beta tester for the ps2 GOW. I remember going through it thinking “This could be a great series!”
How did you get choosen?
@@Vibrantly_Monochromatic Sony had this social club you could sign up for. I filled out a form and was picked. I got free merch: cups, stickers, shirts, memory cards, and early beta access to games. I would play them and submit feedback. GoW was one. I also tried out Sly Cooper, Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005), a Gundam game, and others I can’t recall. This was back when games were actually completed before being sent out to the public 😂
Definitely excited to play Ragnarök... when it comes to PC in a couple years. Finished God of War earlier today and loved every second of it.
The fact that you can play as Atreus now just adds so much more to the game
Yeah picking fruit and lighting lanterns for almost 2 hours is amazing….
@@Cooz-h1l I wasn’t talking about the ironwood mission, everyone knows that shit is a waste of time
@@LethalTicTacAll Asgard missions as Atreus were amazing without a doubt considering you face unique enemies and not mention Ingrid and Thor are a huge help and they elevate Atreus base gameplay (which is a 7/10 i mean it's not bad but not spectacular either it's just good)
@@Cooz-h1l I hated that part lol 😂😂😂
bro christopher tearing up with the "I know" left me BAWLING
They say you Channel your traumas and/or experiencs into emotion when acting those scenes.
The man channeled Kratos' emotion and traumas into that line.
@@DynoSkrimisher he did say he was also apoligizing to his kids
Gow 2018 and ragnorak was probably the best game I’ve ever played. The story and fighting in the game is unrivalled
I did not care about or know anything about God of War until 2018, so it's cool to know what a high quality game it's always been.
I just don't get it why is this guy not reached a million subscribers he really deserves it
You never get tired of kratos.
One of my favorite games ever since childhood, and your video about the evolution of God of War gave me such a nostalgia. Absolutely loved the video and insights!
Never played any God of War games. Not my style. But this video gives me appreciation for the game and it's creators. Impressive bunch of folks for making so many excellent games for us for so long.
Good job man you killed it and watching this brought so much hype back fs.
I like how the move set with the Blades haven't changed. Same moves just different engines.
''Is God of War: Ragnarök a masterpiece''
My answer: YES!!!
Great summary. This is the video that I needed to get my hands on the lore of God of War without ever having been able to play it. 10/10 IMO Rating ;)
24:07 that's the most emotional, heartfelt I know I have ever heard
I did not know about this game until I watched Jacksepticeye’s play through of God of War 2018 and the game has fascinated me since. I’m not a gamer that loves gore and that sort of thing, so the storyline of the games since 2018 has been extremely interesting and opens the games up to a broader audience. I’m glad you made this video so I could understand more of the lore behind the games which makes the storyline so much more interesting!
My background with the game is almost the same as yours!
Same lmao I watch Jack's play through
i loved kratos' character development throughout the game, esp when atreus ran away and released garm & kratos helped him catch & transform garm
It's a Game of the year for me.
they turned a super fun hack n slash & platformer into a walking simulator with pretty graphics, i'm still devastated
Things change over 20 years. Cope.
This was video was beautifully done and so professional! Mad props to you, ill be a typecast and stan this game. ITS SO FUCKING GOOD. Also im low key twitching at both the main voice actors not understanding how big it is, AND MORE DOLLAR FOR THEM.
I just finished God of War (2018) and I love it
Now play Ragnarok. It's even better
@@ScareBros I think the two games complete each other so much you cannot play one without playing the other
I remember when God Of War PS2 came out. It was amzing, nearly 20 years later and God of War is still great.
Playing all of them as per mood and time on my PC from GOW 1 to GOW 3 on emulators and GOW 2018 on steam. Everything about this franchise is great
This man deserves 10 million subs!
I'm a PC guy... always been a pc guy... but I purchased a ps2, ps3, ps4 just to play God of War titles.. thanks for the 2018 pc port!!! Keep it up!!
God of war 2 is my absolute favorite game if all time. As a kid i beat this shit over 20 times maybe more and i still have ps3 and GOW 1,2, and 3.
P.s.
I forgot to mention that I am playing it on ps4 but my graphic experience was like I was playing on ps5. Give them all the awards right now……
but bill clinton won goty lmao
I'm a few hours into GOW Ragnarok, and it's amazing to say the least
Kratos is literally our childhood masculinity awaken
It's just a masterpiece of full of badassery
I like it as girl too, especially the 2018 part
But Kratos always acknowledged that his actions in the first games were awful and destructive..
The Norse Kratos, especially in Ragnarok, is the definition of true masculinity.
18:42 there is a little detail here, first Kratos is taller than second Kratos, his height is more than 3 meters (thats why Baldur said he thought Kratos was bigger)
What a masterpiece 🥺🙌
Can't wait to see what lies in store for the future. Maybe Egyptian since it is the third most popular mythology stories.
I didn't expect Strider to be one of the inspirations for God of War.
bro god of war taught me more about greek mythology than school did
SO THAT'S WHY THE "I know" SOUNDED SO EMOTIONAL,i would've never figured it out
Just finished Ragnarok
The game was so amazing and beautiful
I loved every moment of it
Even me getting slapped around a couple of times.

Kratos: "I am hungry."
*Roaring applause*
Hungry for boot
YES! Waiting all day for this vid! Amazing as always. When face reveal??? I wanna know who is the master mind behind the animations! 😛😛😛
Great video!!! Tons of works poured into it. Great vibe. Thank you.
I was a big GOW fan growing up but as an adult I’m just now playing the PS4 one and raganarok is next I can’t wait
Ragnarok for me is my favourite, mainly bc of the balanced storyline. There was a perfect amount of action and story, and the visuales ofc where amazing
This makes me want to go back and replay the trilogy. Omg
