Thank you for taking your time out of your day to make this videos and all the research that was involved it helped me understand with Jeep I wanted
Absolutely love Jeep Grand Cherokee's ❤
Watching this before buying my grand Cherokee
Me too. :)
Same
Just had an engine failure outta nowhere on my 2012 BMW X5 ( FUCK BMW). So I'm as skittish as a squirrel when it comes to any vehicle. Hope Jeep will do me right.
Yoooo me too
Anyone reading this, you won’t regret get a 2014+ GC
Have had 3 jeep’s in my like I am 73 ! Back in 1987 sheep Comanche pick up inline 6 , 1995 5.2 Ltr. V8 lasted over 200k. Have it to my grandson in 2015 and bought a 2015 grand Cherokee V6 all great cars! The 1987 Comanche truck was an American Motors product!
Great job on informing us all about this. Now I can make a decision on which one I want
Thank you for this video. It was very helpful.
Hi Ben, I LOVE my 2000 JGC lot. She has 213k and I really want a newer Jeep now. I was looking atv2015 until I learned that they have this stupid Electronic Gear shifter! Please can you recommend the best year jeep that is not newer than 2017. 4x4..
This is a very cursory overview that is missing a lot of important details about trims... No mention of a diesel engine option. Overland and Summit come with air suspension. Which is a completely different ride. You loose about 200lb of payload capacity in a summit. So if you tow you are better of with overland or limited. Air suspension will automatically trim. On limited and below you would need to buy self leveling shocks. Get a tow package if you tow. Car will not only come with a proper hitch but you will also get a bigger radiator, brakes and alternator and a full size spare. Adaptive cruise control is an important feature that comes standard in summit but is optional in limited and overland. Also hid head lights with lenses along with some additional tech features come standard in overland and summit, but you'll get regular hollogen lights(which are not that great) in loredo, trailhawk and limited unless you buy a tech package. And the list goes on. I have not heard about a single common issues which exist and there have been recalls. BTW you can buy a life time unlimited miles warranty if your car is 4 years or younger and has under 48k miles. Shop around prices very by a lot. Great car though. Love my summit.
Michael Ignatysh great comments! See my answer above to Mykal Price's comment.
How much is the lifetime warranty
@@ryanschaeffer3384 same i wanna know
I have a 2017 grand Cherokee with 40k miles I need to know about that lifetime warranty PLEASE let me know !! I’m so scared 😭😭
You didn't mention the V6 turbodiesel...
its one of the most beautiful SUV still to this day
I love my 2014 GCL until 104,997 miles. The infamous lifter tick started; I was warned that the 3.6 Penastar is famous for the lifter ticking. Well, in the end I had to replace the drivers exhaust & passenger intake cams. Along with 24 rockers and 24 lifters. For a grand total of $2,400. Full synthetic 5/20 oil and filter every 3-3.5k miles. The budget planning Ben was talking about DO IT! I never dreamed the way I took care of my Jeep that would happen. Aside from that, I do love my Jeep GCL.
Great breakdown, this helped me realize what engine and trim level I want! Limited v8 with lux2 package, or do I want the Overland
Go with the Overland. I have an Overland myself. You get some more features that you don’t get in the Limited with Lux2 package and it would cost about the same.
Jonathan Moosey totally agree! I own a 2016 JGC Overland, Trail Rated that I have currently in Europe; I shipped it from the States and do serious, but not extreme, off-roading in Greece and Italy; terrific performance. Great car, no issues or problems whatsoever! Thankfully as the warranty is US-based and, hence, not applicable in Europe.
I also own a 2020 Trailhawk. Off-roading in the States. Have not put it through the paces, though, as I spend half of my time in Europe ( this year July1st to October 30th) and only had it for about forty days before I parked it for the duration; that one stays in the States, in Georgia, exclusively. The Far West beckons me to discover its trails...starting in November.
Overland for sure
This was great help needed real facts
What about the diesel version?
I own an Overland and I can tell you that it is a better buy than the Limited with the Luxury group 2 package. The Overland will get you some more features that you couldn’t get on a loaded up Limited; such as Quadra-lift air suspension, power folding mirrors, wood on steering wheel, nicer leather. And it would still cost about the same even with the extra features. High Altitude is another trim level worth looking at which is the Overland with the Satin black trim and satin black wheels and a few features from the Summit.
I'm definitely looking into getting the Overland EDITION...
Fuck air suspension you are a pavement princess 😅
I got the full package on my 5.7 limited, all that is different is the air suspension which is a joke 😂
Liked the video but I would also liked to have heard you compare fuel economy between them. On the fence about buying my next vehicle. Really like the Explorer and Grand Cherokee both but I want something that both gets good fuel economy, and be quite capable off road when necessary. I feel like that is gonna put me in the Grand Cherokee. Anyway great video. Might also include more pictures thoughtout the video for references.
I'm looking into the 2017 jeep grand cherokee altitude, anybody had problems with this vehicle?
Why no auto-headlight feature on the sport???
I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Eco Diesel engine. Why wasn’t this reviewed?
I'd want an off-roadish varient of the jeep grand cherokee with a v8. What would be some of the best options? The trailhawk and the summit?
Trailhawk and Overland. They are the best 2 that come with the Hemi V8 or the Upland Special Edition with the V6 Pentastar. The Upland has Tow Hooks front and rear A/T tires like the Trailhawk. The Limited can be built with the Off-road adventure group package. All of these are excellent choices. The Summit is not really the off-roadish model in the GC WK2 platform. My wife and I own a 2020 Trailhawk with the V6. We love it.
@@MEDEDOME thank you for the info!!! I have the Cherokee in mind for my next vehicle and this definitely helps a lot! 💪🏽
@@juarte10 If you like camping and some light adventures I recommend look at the Trailhawk package on the Cherokee. It has fantastic off-road capabilities right from the factory.
so informative ..loved it
Where does the “high altitude” fit into the lineup? There’s a vast difference between it and the regular “altitude” trims, correct?
blacked out overland , upgraded.. i got a 18 altitude. lovee it
Yo Ben. Have you ever done a video on the Nissan Titan? I’m curious about these trucks. Thanks!
Mike G I have on a 2019, but not a 2020
I bought my overland hemi about 3 weeks ago and I’m obsessed 😍
Any problems
Jus got my limited
Got my trailhawk
@@80sbabyyup49 any issues yet
Any problems? Minor or major
Good video! You killed it!
Getting first car, im stricken between Jeep Summit V8, Lexus IS 350, and Dodge Durango R/T. my parents dont care what i get but i still wanna be mature about it, also im 15 with my permit and 5'3 so small, any suggestions?
You need a 99 civic
So what were common issues? I think you mentioned the 6.4 and 6.2 liter engines. So, other than that, Grand Cherokees are bullet proof?
No
I bought a 2018 Summit with the 3.6 V6. It’s a great SUV with decent MPG
No mention of the ecodiesel??
sir can yyou please talk about thee reliability of a srt jeep grand cherokee 2014 model please.
This is the best informative video I’ve found so far thank you!
Thanks for posting another great video! I believe you can get the 3.0L ecodiesel in certain trim levels as well no?
The earlier years you can get the ecodiesel on the limited through Summit models
Yep, I have a 2014 limited with ecodiesel
@@Tallnerdyguy what are your thoughts on it?
U forgot the Diesel engine
Yep I have a diesel
Had both the v-6 and the hemi only 2 MPG’s difference
Here in Europe the only engine that's practical to run is the 3.0 diesel which may not be too exciting to drive but is great for towing and for economy. Personally I never buy new cars and let some other sucker take that massive hit in depreciation over the first few years - and as a result I avoid air suspension. I have ALWAYS had issues with air suspension on Range Rovers and Mercedes so now avoid it - so really I'm limited to the Limited (pun intended), but that's got plenty of equipment for me. I avoid glass sunroofs too - after all, I want a truck to be a working vehicle so I'll be strapping sheets of 8' x 4' and lengths of 2" x 4" to the roof so I'll stick to a metal roof that I can stand on, thanks :)
Why not buy a pick up w a camper 😂
No love for the diesel?
I love my 2014 summit
I have an Altitude That was $44k so I don’t understand where it’s “basically a Entry level GC“ COSTS more then some Limited
?? That is a misquote..... The Laredo is basically an entry level. The Altitude and an additional package on top of their basic package. He said that in addition to the package, Altitude blacks it out...
Not all the same transmission: diesels and Hemis use a heavier duty variant. Beware of Ecodiesel models; mine (2015 Overland) has had several recalls to date: crankshaft sensor, which they've not figured out how to fix yet; EGR coolant line defective; Turbo coolant line, which starts to leak and needs replacement; active restraint headrests that can punch you in the back of the head at anytime; firmware updates to correct emissions cheating condition, which negatively affects power and economy. I'm working with Fiat/Chrysler to have them buy the vehicle back as it would be immoral to sell this piece of junk to anyone.
oh no!! i’m looking into a grand cherokee and found a 2015 overland that I really liked. It seemed to be perfect...would you not recommend it?
Overland has a hemi choice. I have one 400hp
You never got into the common problems. I own a 2020. Would have been nice to hear a few unless it doesn't have any.
6200 lbs. tow capacity is only on the factory tow package upgrade. The standard model is 3500 lbs.
The advanced technology group stuff is never explained good trim level and year to year 2012 vs all years newer
Thank you brotha
I have a jeep SRT they will probably start going up I value as know one really sells them anymore. What do you think mate 🤔
GaminG MobilE I think it’ll hold its value well, but I’m not sure about going up in value in the U.S.
Ben Hardy Yh I think there is a lot more SRT’s in US then UK
@@BenHardyCars no one...NOT KNOW ONE
Aaaaaand you were right!
Luka Doncic reviews cars
The 3.0 diesel doesn’t make the cut? Lol
It would be nice if you left the images up a few seconds longer.
Most hemis fail after about 160,000km on lifters. They eat the cams with a costly repair. Replacing cam and lifters. Search for the well known hemi tick!
do an infiniti q50
I need this video to see which Grand cherokee model to get
Limited 5.7 avoid 2012-2016
@@joeywinn9787 so the 2017-current models is the best ones to buy???
Super skeptical of a 2016 grand Cherokee I’m looking at rn. Seems like they got a bad reliability score of 2/5 for 2014-2017 years.
If you want reliable cars stay away from Chrysler engines and electronics
I see so many new Grand Cherokee's every day. That is a message.
@@lmCIoudz I’m looking at buying one a 2016 but idk what to do
@@daisyhernandez8090 My girlfriend has a 2016 Grand Cherokee that she bought with 86k. It now has 103k and has been a wonderful vehicle. Not perfect, like anything else, but great enough to make me want to buy one. Check out the vehicle, check service records, check for leaks etc and google reliability. If you like it, go for it. You only live once!!!!
The towing capacity is enough to tow small boats, jet skis or light campers however Jeep only recommends a max of 3,500lbs unless it's equipped with the towing package.
Also, the cool little hood decal is meant to reduce reflection and glare into the cab. And all Grand Cherokee models equipped with four wheel drive are "off road ready."
Anthony M not quite so! They do have some limited off-roading ability thanks to the 4x4. But for some serious off-road performance they have to be "Trail Rated" certified first; that's why they have that little emblem, attesting to this fact, on the side.
@@MrKozanitis serious off road performance is not equivalent to "off road ready." Technically, all land vehicles have limited off-roading ability to some degree.
Anthony M then your comment (off road ready) is redundant and, hence, not necessary! Why make it if all vehicles are so?! 😂
@@MrKozanitis because the host of the video said the Trailhawk was the "off road ready" package, which implies that the others are not. Did you even watch the video?
Do miles really matter if ur taking care of the car the right way
Yes they do. I would rather have a higher mileage vehicle that I knew had proper maintenance vs. a low mileage one that had been abused, however, miles matter. Things wear out just simply from friction. Engine components like cams and lifters, clutch friction surfaces, torque converters. I typically buy high mileage vehicle because one I can fix most issues that arise myself, and two, the money I save up front will take care of a major repair or two if needed.
i want a srt now that i truck drive but 65k is a year salary lol
They don't come in diesel?
They do come in the 3L diesel V6 in the 2014-2020's, he just didn't mention it
Brought a 2014 JGC altitude didn't even put 1000 miles on it it's been in the shop 3 times already! Bad cylinder head! Been in the shop for 3 weeks already warranty issues I even have a extended warranty!🤬🤬
What engine ?
If I wanted to spend 90k on a car, it won’t say Jeep on it… 🤦🏽♀️
Did this guy actually do a review on a vehicle without having said vehicle on hand?
Yes he did
So much better with air suspension omg 😅
What year is the most reliable ?
?
None
Why so many “ 👎 “
You forgot about High Alltitude
Agreed
he forgot an engine the 3.0L turbo diesel
The Jeep Cherokee is now a dinosaur needs and in and out redesign Thanks for talking about the issues for all cars reviewed Nice haircut
Charlie Montero 2021 grand Cherokee should be sweet
As reliable as a politicians promise.
Not a Chrysler fan.
But I'm a Ben fan 🎆
1aikane 🤣👍🏻
Haha folding mirrors all the bells and whistles it's trail rated guaranteed.
Why are you in a wrangler???? (My girlfriend asked)
I’m in my raptor
If you want a grand cherokee, then be ready to pay a tow bill soon ,they break down a lot .
Poor thing 😅
Bought my wife a JGC 2017 altitude brand new in Jan 2017, it has literally never had one single problem.. Only had 2 sets of tires and 1 set of brakes, now has 181,000miles, as she drives approx 93mi a day to and from work.. It is a few weeks from 7yrs old and never been in the shop one single time..
Unless you’re doing a lot of off-roading why not go with a more reliable engine like an Acadia or Durango. Still an aggressive exterior but nice smooth ride and good transmission. I love my Acadia. No electrical issues either. For off-road I have a Wrangler
Wait what??? Lol durango’s have the same engine choices
Durango is basically the same car with a longer body on the chassis. Haha.
Durango is built on the same assembly line as the Grand Cherokee….🤦♂️
Durango is a stretched Cherokee 😂
You poor things 😂😢
What a joke. 😂 I love my jeep but because you have air suspension doesn't mean you will more capable, more like more in the hole!!!
P
I heard that jeep is not reliable.
You heard correctly
😂

Transmission failures!!!
Seems like the GJ is an overpriced POS
Another unreliable crappy chrysler product
Please not another Wikipedia rambling session from inside the truck.....please not anoth....f*#@ I'm out.
Simon Johnson then don’t watch these videos...
@@BenHardyCars well I won't be buying a t-shirt lol
for that size of vehicle its over priced because the quality under Fiat aint there.... no 10 speed trans... i think there still using old 8 speed transmissions... GARBAGE
Haha "the old 8 speed" you say..to say the ZF8 speed is garbage just proves that you don't know shit what you're talking about
Nick West you tell him, mate! I own a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated that I have put through its paces off-roading in Italy and Greece to trails and places that even goats don't go! I have never had any issues or problem with anything on it!!!
This guy truly knows nothing about nothing! Let him rant! 😂
Talk more about problematic issues with a hemi. I can tell you are favoring the hemi as a good buy bc it's your personal liking. Be more explanatory on everything and don't include your personal opinion or show your favoritism toward any of them. I can tell that you covered more on the problematic vehicles which is understandable but cover on everything such as good vs bad vs what goes wrong with vehicles first and typically last not just the ones that are the most problematic. Then at end of video talk about your favorite one or include it if you want. If you're going to educate educate all of them equivalently this video is good but as a learner I feel like I was juked out of learning certain things bc u included your personal opinion. I can tell you buy and sell cars. And can tell ur trying to get ppl to buy something with a hemi in it. Give buyer or learner what they want not what you think they need. Educate others show your intelligence you're making yourself look ignorant by not expanding information on everything and by making yourself look ignorant and pissing people off so you're getting less buys if you are a car salesman. I do not mean any of this in an offensive way nor am I trying to be rude just being blind honest and trying to give feedback like you asked. Best of luck to you!
Haha this guy wouldn't know how to run a power tool much less the mechanical qualities of a vehicle
