My 2013 Jeep GC limited v-6, all wheel drive, has 165,000 miles and is still going strong. Oil cooler and radiator replaced at 150,000 miles. shocks and struts replaced at 155,000 miles. Other than routine maintenance, that is all my GC has needed since purchasing it new in August 2012.

I've got the same 2013 model Jeep GC. I've been told the radiator needs replaced (common problem, apparently, which should be a recall item, imo.) and the rack and pinion system. And that was at 30k and 40k respectively. Of course, the warranty was long over then, too. Although, I've not had any problems with the radiator OR the rack causing a failure in the power steering. In fact, I've been checking my ps fluid level since they told me it was leaking and it hasn't gone down at all. NOR has this thing ever leaked anything but condensation from the AC. So, I'm suspecting some shady practices at my local dealer. I'm not happy about these impending repairs at such low mileage, but I still want to get another JGC, for some reason. Even with it's problems and mediocre gas mileage, it's just a nice looking, comfortable, good driving vehicle.

2014 grand Cherokee limited rwd version. 137k miles,
Replaced oil cooler with Dorman unit, highly recommend aluminum Dorman unit.
Dorman aluminum coolant crossover pipe to replace yet another plastic pièces.
Trans fluid and filter done at 75k and 135k
    Diff fluid done at 115k
Spark plugs done at 80k and 135k. Coil packs at 135k. Can bus unit replaced at100k cost 700. Condenser unit replaced cost450. Full synthetic mobile one with liqui moly ceratech. Only pump 93 octane. I drive it like I’m in a nascar race and the 3.6 loves to rev high. Makes most of the power at the top end 4K to 6.5k rpm. Looking to get the ripp supercharger to double the power. The v6 pentastar is well made with FORGED connecting rods. You read correctly. Forged. Crankshaft has never broken on engines boosted 300+ hp over stock. Incredible engine. Only problem I’ve heard which is not common are overheating of valve seats causing valve failure so since I drive it hard I use highest octane gas . Most normal driving will be fine with lowest octane. At transmission out of Germany is very reliable. Just don’t buy the lie of the lifetime fluid. Lab results show transmission fluid friction coefficient drops significantly after 45k miles of use. Diff fluid last a really long time maybe 100k+ miles but I like to baby my jeep. Pirelli tires all round, very sticky and amazing in rain. Extremely quiet as well. Replaced rotors and pads at110k. Pcv valve replaced at 135k. Valve cover gaskets replaced(no leak just preventative). Love this car so much that I rather supercharge the engine rather than buy a new one with a v8 because 1. V6 supercharged is faster with 38mpg. And 2. They wk2 GC 2014-2018 are the most well are and nicest quality and design ever made by jeep Chrysler stelantis. The new one feels more plasticy. New gc is nice but nothing can replace my 2014 gc . My most loved car. Only a Porsche Cayman gts interests me but the price tag is outrageous for seemingly the same quality of my GC therefore it is the perfect car.

Mine has 116k on it. Bought it from Carmax with 32k miles. It’s been great, and it still looks brand new. We had the oil leak problem he mentions (oil cooler)... originally they said this was due to over tightening the oil filter, but by the time we had it done they were covering this as a defect, even out of warranty, so it cost us nothing. And they redesigned the part, so once it’s fixed it shouldn’t be an issue again. It’s been a great vehicle for us.

I too live in n.j. and own this same year, trim, and color Jeep. I am a review guy, I respect other peoples opinions. However, I bought the 14 Limited anyway. Why?! Everyone that I fish with has this vehicle. It is great on the beach, traveling from NJ to North Carolina, the gas mileage is good, drives like a car. I fish everywhere, and have tons of gear. I sleep in the Jeep on longer trips, it's awesome. Back seats forward, air mattress on one side, gear on the other. I have 67k miles, never 1 problem. I recommend the 2014 Limited Grand Cherokee. This make model year and trim has all the same bells and whistles as the 2018 for alot less money! Best SUV I've owned, compared to Explorer, Edge it's far superior. I truly love it.

Have a 2014 jeep grand Cherokee, base model. I have 180,000 mi on it. I bought the lifetime warranty. Beside the recalls, I have had very little trouble with this vehicle. Radiator replaced under warranty and a thermostat replacement. I just now need to replace the brakes. The 3.6l has been great, no leaks or noise from the engine. This is a jeep and the ride is not smooth and can get tiring on a long trip. Overall, with proper maintenance this can be a good vehicle.

I have a 2015 JEEP GC Limited, but I have the 5.7 Liter V8 HEMI Engine and have had mine since it was brand new for 5 years. I have never had any problems with my vehicle and I have 61, 000 miles on it. It drives great and is very fast. Gas mileage isn’t the best. I get about 17 in the city and 23-24 on the Hwy. We have a 2015 JGC with the Pentastar 3.6L V6. Common problems: (1) leaky plastic oil coolers, (2) leaky hydraulic motor mounts, (3) thermostat failure, (4) faulty rocker arms that wear out.
We have experienced all these failures except for the rocker arms. If you haven't already done so, I'd replace all of them with upgraded aftermarket parts (if possible) after your JGC reaches high mileage -- 100k or more.
After 140k miles, we also had a fuel injector failure despite getting the dealership's pricey fuel injector cleaning service the year before. Looking back, after 100k miles, I'd just replace the injectors. I've heard from others that they are bound to fail. Better to treat them as a maintenance item than wait for them to fail when you're far from home (which is what happened to us).

Love this vehicle and ride is fantastic but I know with American made in Mexico there is likely going to be maintenance. But I think luxury of this is as good or better than most European models for much less cost so don't mind paying for extended warranty. Also great towing weight to pull boats and campers.

The sunroof is a option on the limited model. My 2015 limited did not have the sunroof I choose instead to get the 20 inch rim upgrade instead of sunroof. That V6 is a great engine maybe I just been lucky but I haven’t had any engine issues with the 4 I’ve owned. I did have minor fixes covered by warranty but nothing major that wouldn’t happen in any other brand. The 4x4 is excellent I used to live in NJ and never got stuck once. We now live in Florida so our 2019s are both 2WD. I can tell you they do hold their value and sell quick especially the used ones for people looking who maybe can’t afford a new one. I traded my wife’s 2015 altitude model in which had 85k miles at the time and still got $18k for it. A year later I traded in my 2015 limited and still got the same $18k for it. Both vehicles were sold within a week of trade in. As far as the oil filter leaking...I never had any issues...both my 2015 never leaked and all oil changes were done at dealer...my dad has a 2015 and does all oil changes himself and never leaked. One thing I can say is it’s not a traditional filter it’s the long cone shape one and you have to be sure it comes with the new ring seal and make sure to change that every time if not it could possibly leak.

I don't really need something that big, but the cost difference for a Cherokee and a Grand Cherokee make the Grand Cherokee more attractive (for us). Nice review!! I'm always fascinated with other people's perspectives from other parts of the country. Having spent my entire life mostly out west (Mountain & Pacific time zones) I can't imagine living in New Jersey. Over the last 20 years, it seems we've always had a Suburban or two parked in our driveway. We keep them and put a lot of miles on them anywhere from 200-300k. We've only had one that needed anything major and that was a transmission at about 200k miles. Still have it and it has 280k now, although the oil & transmission cooler lines are leaking and need to be fixed. Thus why I found your channel we are looking at a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with ~90k miles. If we purchase this, my hope is that we can get another 100k relatively problem-free miles out of it. Do you know of many people that are driving these around with 200k+ miles? Thanks!

Me & my wife have owned nine 4 runners & nine grand cherokees. We enjoy both brands. I perform all service & repairs on them. As far as reliability issues, one is no better than the other if there take care of properly. I will say that the quality of Toyota is become pretty poor as far as exterior body & interior all around. What miner parts I’ve had to purchase over the years for the 4 runners are stupid in price. If we take a trip into town, we take the 4 runner. If we take a long road trip its the GC no question. Ride quality, pennistar power plant, all around interior comfort & convenience features. The 4 runner doesn’t compare & with a $10,000 plus price tag over the GC. And for the oil fill housing breaking & leaking on the GC? It clearly says 27NM on the cap which is 18FT Lbs. I’ve changed oil in our GCs since 2013 with this oil filter housing & have never had a problem. One of the simplest oil changes you can ask to perform, if you should be doing it in the first place...
