3 years later, I still smile every time I fire up the high tech 6.4 litre HEMI V8 in the morning and drive it as my daily driver here in the UK 🇬🇧 😀

This guy is one of the best reviewers out there. He gives you the straight meat and potatoes and you never feel he is slanted toward one car brand out the other. His videos are concise and avoid unnecessary filler you see with others.

Best review ever, but I have questions!! I have the 2014 jeep srt burgundy color and mine doesn't have the CD player in the box and it doesn't have the eco mode button.......and I don't know why if they told us in the dealership that it was fully loaded!

Yes I bought a jeep SRT and I love it
good car, but sure it cant compete with the x5m or ml63 amg, or cayenne turbo...just because the jeep is cheaper it doesnt mean is better...simply its not on the same league...still remain a good car.
I LOVE MY SRT.
The only downside is the Pirelli tires. I prefer to use Goodyear Eagle GT all-seasons.

Thanks, that looks like the vehicle I want to tow my 1977 Buick Century Custom hot rod. The 77 Buick is very customized and will get just about 1987 ft lbs of torque on race gas.
I think this Grand Cherokee with a supercharger tucked under the hood should make a great vehicle to get the Buick to track days.

I just picked up a 16 SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee to compliment my 14 Viper TA. I've watched numerous reviews and this is one of the best. Very honest and knowledgable review. You speak very well and your understanding of this SRT really shows. I agree it's a vehicle that's strong competition to ones that are much pricier. While it's not the fastest, it's all NA power (for now) and arguably the best looking of the performance SUVs. The interior with the dual pane roof and suede headliner and pillars are fine touches to make the cabin a near luxurious experience. Though the trackhawk is around the corner I wanted an all NA power plant with a very proven track record and this does not disappoint. I'll use my cammed viper and titanium exhaust for the super speed thrills!
Next week the exact same model will be delivered to me. I cannot wait.

I'll see if I can get a handle on that. It is often difficult to estimate for a new or significantly updated vehicle like the SRT. I would suggest you look at a site like Edmunds for that type of analysis as they have a huge team that crunches the numbers on every car out there.
In Australia the customer reviews are not good

I have had both a 05 srt8 and a 12 srt and of all the 200 cars I have owned it is just as much fun to drive as my viper and prowler. It is one bad ass mopar and if Chrysler had a clue how to advertise they would be selling a lot more of them. The only car I enjoy driving more is my 69 Charger….
I really hope someone can make an aftermarket 'horizontal' front grill for the Grand Cherokee, because the only thing I don't like about this car is the multiple-vertical grill. I know some Jeep enthusiasts love them, but they're just not my cup of tea.

Thank you for this amazing review. What an excellent car! I wonder why the German car makers do not suffer more from this competition (Especially here in Europe where I live). I really like the fact that it is less outrageous than the previous generation which, even if I liked it, seemed that it had the ground clearance of a muscle car. Congratulations to Jeep for the interior design which improved a lot.
However, even if this model doesn't have the abilities of the other models (overland, summit), I wonder how it can handle the snow and other regular offroad situations. Because even if this particular srt is not made for that, it's still a Grand Cherokee and it would be the cherry on the cake if it could.
Regarding the comparison with Land Rover, I would compare this model with the Range Rover Sport Supercharged rather than the Range Rover Supercharged which has next level luxury and refinement (and price). Keep up the good work!

You lost all credibility with me when you said you started talking about the front end of the Jeep. I am in the primary demographic for this vehicle and I WANT a more aggressive and differentiated front end.

95% of the feel and performance at 60% of the price in comparison with the X5 and Cayenne... very well put. However, is this ratio also applicable to the overall build quality, durability, reliability, luxury, and materials used when compared to the likes of the X5 and Cayenne?
I'd say that the luxury end is 85% of the way there for 60% of the price, build quality is probably the same. Reliability and durability? Probably identical to the Germans to be honest. The Cayenne, X5 and Jeep all share the same transmission and the rest of the driveline components have proved very reliable.
The ONLY thing lacking on this JEEP is actual OFF ROAD ability. And while the Range Rover Sport & Porsche Cayenne Turbo both cost a LOT more than the Jeep, they DO manage to combine awesome ON ROAD with Good OFF ROAD ability.
There is just something wrong about a JEEP that Can't go off road.
But you have to realize jeep has mainly worked and invested on making this car am incredible road machine. I mean common, who really takes a brand new range rover sport or Porsche cayenne turbo for offroading
Thank you for the quick reply. Ok one more but weird question: how does the torque in this vehicle and maybe other SRTs compare to the CLS63. I drove that and the torque was intoxicating.
The twin-turbo V8s produce way more torque of course, but any turbo engine will have turbo lag and typically a sharp cut off/cut in for torque as well. You get nothing (essentially) at idle, then everything comes to a boil rapidly between 1,000 and 1,500 RPM. The naturally aspirated 6.4L V8 on the otherhand has a more traditional torque curve with torque and HP building towards the peak in a more gradual manner. It's all a preference. I like turbo charged engines myself, but I do have to admit I am a little nostalgic about the naturally aspirated power curves.

Well the SRT will be more off road capable than your WRX and in truth it will also be more off road capable than just about every crossover on the market like the Explorer, etc if you have the right tires for the job. Good street tires aren't the best off-road tires and vice versa. We still have decent ground clearance, a RWD bias, sturdy transfer case and a limited slip rear diff.
Alex on Autos I'm fairly new to your channel and I have to say I really like the content. One question though: How did you manage 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds? The fastest tested times from big magazines (C&D, Motortrend, etc.) are about 4.6 seconds and they even use 1-ft rollout...

It is quite liveable, it's the kind of vehicle that is acceptable to commute in. I think Jeep found a very good balance.

Would you compare the Ford Explorer Sport w/ the V6-EcoBoost Turbo with the SRT Jeep GC?
The Explorer Sport is considerably slower than the SRT Jeep, it is more similar in performance with the GC 5.7L Hemi or the Durango RT with the 5.7L Hemi.

Show me the 470 HP luxury sport edition of the Edge and I'll say it competes. 305 HP from a high-revving V6 and a FWD biased platform isn't much competition for a Grand Cherokee SRT.

You say you would buy this, do you not prefer a manual transmission? Or does this have so much power that it is a non factor?
It's something of a non-issue since there is no manual transmission available. In truth very few cars, performance or otherwise, are sold with manuals today. As much as I love driving a car with a stick, even I have to admit that the automatics are faster in just about every situation.

the insurance is not bad at all, though it as a 6.4L V8 it is still an SUV. And the fuel economy is 13/19.

Thanks for your review Alex .. I bought a 2016 in Australia and love it after being a long time Lexus fan and haven't regretted it for a second . I did change dreadful Pirelli run flats and the ride has improved immeasurably with no loss of handling😊
