I dont have a SRT Jeep but I got a V8 Ram. Ppl always ask me about gas. But I straight up tell them that u shouldn't buy anything V8 if gas going to be a problem for u. Simple...
King Luckey exactly, Everyone knows how a V8 handles gas mileage. Granted it is a lot more fuel efficient now than it was 30-40 years ago, but it's still a big sippin' V8. ✌🏻
Excaxtly. Lol people knock me for commuting in a v8 everyday and make jokes about my gas cost. My response is it’s really not that bad I’m actually lookin for something bigger 😂 I’m in a 4.6 mustang tryna get into a Hemi hope to have a 392 next year
I'm looking for a pristine, 2017 or newer Jeep SRT owned by a little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays, with less than 5,000 miles for around $25,000.
Found a 2021 Jeep SRT with 20k miles, Burgundy with tan interior & 1-owner. Upgraded from a 2020 Limited X with the 5.7 Hemi, night & day driving experience compared to the 6.4. One of the best vehicle purchases I’ve ever made. Test drove a few other sport style SUV’s; Audi SQ8, Porsche Cayenne GTS, BMW X5M. Those vehicles are very nice & have nicer interiors but they do not drive like the SRT. The SRT is my wife’s daily driver & she is getting 16.3mpg (99% of it on side roads). When taken on highway trips, mpg jumps to 18-19. For the $$$, the SRT is the best bang for the buck. Only complaint, squeaky brakes due to ceramic pads. One way to combat the squeak is to warm up the brakes within the 1st few minutes of the drive & then it goes away.
Haven't owned a WK2, but I have owned (2) WK1 jeep SRT8's and they were extremely reliable DD"s. I bought both slightly used. Changed almost every fluid in the vehicle (on both) and they were awesome cars that never visited a dealer for issues.
Bought a used (74K miles) 2012 WK2 SRT in 2018. In the first year of my ownership, I had two CPU's and a backup camera fail. Dead reliable after that first year. Yes, the wheel corrosion that lifts the paint is there. No big deal....my two WJ's (2004) had the same thing happen to their wheels. The 'smiles per mile' quotient on the SRT is worth it.
Well, being someone that owns multiple GM's Chevy/Pontiac I know about vehicle issues. But I love them. However we just purchased a 17 Cherokee SRT and I absolutely love it. It looks drives and performs like nothing I've owned. Appreciate the info.
My new stock 2015 SRT Jeep was my first FCA Product. The SRT has a lot of personality and was the vehicle I got the most compliments in. The check engine light started coming on at 800 miles. Was on a road trip for work and the Jeep decided to go on a limp mode when the check engine light first came on and I was 150 miles from home. Over the course of 32k very well maintained miles, I’ve had three transfer cases replaced and the coil packs replaced twice due to a vacuum leak. What was frustrating for me was the dealership experience. I’ve tried several dealerships and there is always a long wait to see an actual tech. I had zero of the interior problems and the interior materials held up well. My calipers peeled but I let them be. Some of the glue/rubber on the outside peeled. Was up for a third set of coil packs and just got frustrated and traded my SRT in. I got my 2018 car on a Friday and the SRT was gone by Saturday so sold really quick. Was fun when I owned the SRT but wanted a more reliable vehicle not guessing if the check engine light would come on an off.
2013 5.7 Overland, blower motor, water pump and headlight went after 5 years. I was looking at Land Rovers Velar but do not like their turbo V4. Going for a new 2019 SRT, I just love these Hemi Jeeps. Great post with good info, thanks.
I watch your videos frequently, happy you're honest about the vehicle and you've provided some helpful insight since my purchase. I would never recommend purchasing a used SRT Jeep. More than likely the Jeep has been beat on its entire life. Of course there are exceptions. The Carbon Fiber problem you can fix yourself as with almost everything else, the WK2 is very simple to work on. If you purchase the Jeep used look into the vehicle owner history and how long the owners have owned the vehicle, that right there can tell you how well it was taken care of. You're going to replace every bushing, isolator mount, and strut on the entire vehicle especially if the vehicle was driven in Detroit......Like mine wohooo! A used SRT Jeep, or any USED SRT is a gamble. For instance, I purchased my 2012 SRT Jeep 6.4 on Christmas this past year. I have already replaced the water pump, front axles, upgraded to a EA Transmission, New spark plugs, two coil packs, blower motor, fixed some of the carbon fiber, replaced the condenser and trans cooler, had a transmission hose blow off and soak the engine in trans fluid. Replaced the upper radiator hose and New tires, coolant, Diff fluids, Trans fluids, oil changes and filters. So within 8 months I have "invested" $8,000+ and that is with doing all of the labor myself. Part of the problem may be that I probably drive many more miles than the average Jeep SRT owner. I have already put 15,000 Miles in 8 Months. If you're going to purchase a USED SRT Jeep I hope the rest of your life is in order, you have the knowledge to work on your vehicle yourself with the tools, and you happen to have a reliable beater to drive when the Jeep is stuck in the shop. Otherwise, Good luck driving to work and making your payment when the JEEP becomes a sitting duck. If you plan on doing your own maintenance, and are willing to spend $2000/Month on your USED JEEP....remember its a JEEP..... But If you're willing and able to , I will warn you, I still LOVE MY JEEP. Disclaimer: Probably not the best investment for those with significant Student Loan Debt. *Not from experience...... "yeah right" And i tell myself...."best investment yet"
Hi i have a question. 🙂 Does this engine give up at any point like at 200000 miles? Because im thinking of buying a 2015 and it has around 70,000 miles on it so i wanted to know if i could use it till 200,000 miles with proper maintenance regardless of the history of the current user? Thank u!
Hey Ron, this video is one of the reasons I brought my SRT! There aren't many in the UK so content like this really helped me with my decision and I love it! Feel free to have a look at the latest video on the channel, would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Appreciate all the intel man. About to get mine from Carmax in a week when it arrives. 2014, 43k miles. I took notes and will look out for all that stuff when i pick it up. Hooyah Navy.
@@anthonydiaz8975 It's amazing. It's luxury, utility and speed all in one. It has all the tech and a beautiful interior. I couldn't be happier. Blacked out the front grill rings already, still have to do the window trim but I already have the blackout kit for it. I think when it's time to change vehicles again in like 5 or so years I'll most likely just get a newer model, that's how much I like it. Oh and gas is a nightmare but for me it's worth it.
Don't be too hard on your Jeep... All cars have maintenance issues. My 2014 Jeep SRT had some of the same faults you guys are experiencing. However, my maintenance issues are not as extensive as you guys. I did have carbon fiber warped, Error Code PO470, Back Pressure Sensor, Peeling Brake Caliper, Miss-fire code from faulty MDS Lifters, and now small bubbles on my dash. I have 136,000 miles on the vehicle and no other issues. The power train was completely built, Forged bottom end stroker Engine, Comp Cam, non-MDS lifters, ported & Polish Heads, Procharger, Full Return Fuel System, Paramount Racing Transmission with High stall Converter and all Aluminum driveshaft. Have 40,000 miles on this setup and no maintenance issues. All my previous cars were bought new, four picked up directly from the factory and they all had maintenance problems. 1984 Nissan 300zx Turbo 1986 Mazda 626 Turbo 1993 Volvo 850GLT 2001 Volvo V70 Turbo - Factory pickup (Sweden) 2002 BMW 5451 4.4 V8 - Factory Pickup (Germany) 2003 Mrecedes E55 AMG Sedan - Factory Pickup (Germany) 2006 Mercedes E55 AMG Wagon - Factory Pickup (Germany) And two other Jeep Grand Cherokee Summits, 2012 & 2013 They all had maintenance issues. The BMW started blowing blue smoke (burning oil) after 20,000 miles, along with many interior problems. I drove it down to the Factory in Munchen Germany, and they told me it was normal for the car to burn a little oil... I sold it a week later. My 2003 Mercedes AMG had camshaft problems, had to replace it at less than 20,000 miles. My 2006 Mercedes AMG, had its camshaft and lifters replaced at 30,000 miles, cylinder heads replaced at 37,000 miles, Transmission valve body replaced at 40,000 miles. The Nissan 300zx leaked water through the T-Tops, heating & air-condition failures, all under 20,000 miles. My point is... all vehicles will have maintenance problems. Automobile Manufacturers don't make everything on the vehicle. its a collaborative process, with other manufacturers. Most manufacturers use the "Just-in-Sequence" manufacturing process where the order is distributed to all their collaborators who then have to have their items at the assembly line in the proper sequence for assembly by robots. Sometimes they're under stress to meet the sequencing timeline. I believe it was BMW who had to file suit against Blaupunkt, some 30 years ago, for poor quality. It was alleged that they were skipping quality control checks in order to meet sequencing timeline. As the old saying goes... never buy a car that was built on a Friday!!
Found your video while searching for answers; no SRT Grand Cherokee to be found with features that i want... Gave my 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited to a family member and looked to buy a used GC SRT. We don't put many thousands of miles on each year (have a Cadillac XT5 for most uses) so mpg not a big issue. Found a beautiful GC SRT dark blue ext and "peanut butter" colored shade of Euro orange interior. didn't look further as it was in an accident and repaired. not sure what the title would be on it. Walked away. Will keep looking and your video helped a lot. Thanks
I’m from Los Angeles and you see a couple of these on the streets, the sad thing is that is nothing but 20 year olds driving them working part time jobs or low paying jobs and I’ve seen when they hit the “87” button at the gas pump. Like you said, if you can’t afford it do not buy it. I’m thinking of getting one hopefully next year, but I sure as hell can afford it. I also own a Sentra lol so it’ll probably be my weekend car, I’d hate putting mileage on a beautiful SUV, only time will tell, thank you for the info!
Completely agree about the Pirelli’s. Extremely short life, expensive, horrible wet and snow traction. Felt completely unsettled in rain and just completely not safe in the snow. Replaced with Yokohama paradas and have never looked back.
Thanks for the solid info for potential SRT peeps. I started out in late 2012 with a 2013 Alpine SRT, now in a 2017. My 2013 engine lost rod bearings around 20K. It took 3 months to get a short block due to availability issues. They don't have a rail car of extra engines laying around for these. You didn't mention the SRT dedicated hotline. They couldn't get me parts any faster but they were great about following up and actually calling me. Tires - totally agree. Verde's get you about 18K miles, had the P-Zero once. They were unable to be rotated at 9K. Yes NINE thousand miles, I got about 11K total. The GC has a spare tire, get a set of none run flats. Better ride, longer tread life, and no $400 per tire. I have had the Yokahoma on the 2013 and liked them. Have the Continental now. I like the beefier look, they are a little noisy now that they have 10K+ miles on them but I forgive that for a tire that costs $180. Mileage - I average about 15. I alternate between having the cruise at 5 over the limit and rolling 130 on 'private test tracks'. If you lock the cruise at 2,000 RPM or less it will get the 20 or so MPH highway that it's rated but what fun is that. Trim - hell yes. The piece that goes around the start button just totally popped out today. I've had the ones over the glovebox and passenger door replaced. The interior trim overall really could use some attention. Anything leather seems to hold up well. The carbon fiber issues and the panel on the drivers side of the rear hatch has never fit good even after a replacement, There just needs to be another attachment point to keep it pulled against the body. Steering wheel - I thought I imagined it at first but finally located the razor sharp edge you talk about. Brake pads. I drive and probably brake harder than average, front pads get me about 20K miles. There are many good aftermarket pads around $160, read the reviews to get ones that match your needs. Pads are VERY easy to replace with our calipers. Non Premium fuel, lol yeah I think we got the message out on that :) Just no. I miss living in SD where I had 105 at the pump. Had a motor mount fail on my '13. This caused the cooling fan to contact the radiator/trans cooler. $1800. This was AFTER the engine replacement. Called SRT and they paid the bill. After six years of driving the snot out of two WK2's I can say without a doubt they are above average mechanically even with the issues I've had. These are AMAZINGLY fun and powerful vehicles. This isn't like taking out your parents Mustang/Camaro/Charger when you were a teen. At freeway speed, a quick downshift and 10 seconds later your in 130+ MPH range but with traction control and GIGANTIC Brakes. My 0-60 on a decently cool morning after a 20 minute drive to work is about 4.6-4.8. with gross weight around 5300 lbs. Quarter mile times are right around 13.0 and dip into the 12.xx. There are videos out there of the SRT running very respectful laps on the Ring. The best part is the second you lift off the throttle, it's just another Grand Cherokee, nothing to see here.
Robert DeForest 15mpg doesn't sound bad. I have a 2014 Ford flex Non Ecoboost that gets 17 mpg average and it's only a v6. Thinking of trading it in for a new Durango SRT
Awesome truck, I’d love to own one some day. However, my 04 Corolla with 147k miles seems like it’s given me less maintenance trouble. I kinda wish all manufacturers made things a little bit better these days.
I can definitely confirm the carbon fiber issue! An absolute nightmare especially when you see the cost of it when it's not covered under warranty. One thing I can suggest if you like it, Just for Jeeps has a kit where you can change the front bumper over to the new style. I personally think it looks great and you can see it a little more in depth on my channel as I have just done the modification to my SRT!
Also if you have a 2 wheel drive wk2 put 275s on the front and 295s on the back really makes a big difference in handling way better than the 285s that come on stock
Well i just turned my 96 zj into and one ton unit and now looking for another daily and thinking of 08-10 the simplicity and solid axle. But them new ones are the beautiful interiors
Thx for the video and i feel the same way on gas mileage. On the same note. Is there anything they could indicate that a used SRT was getting low octane fuel during its life ?
I got a used 2012 srt8. My valve cover leaked oil onto the manifold and smoked. The transmission oil pan gasket leaked. The front diff right axle seal leaked. The blind spot monitor cuts out. Fixed it by sealing the sensor with silicone and clean the electrical connections. My upstream 02 sensors failed one at a time 10k miles apart. But all thats fixed and its going strong.
Great information im in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 and just bought a SRT Jeep and love it alot agreed with the trim mines lifted up already but overall its a beast of a car 6.4 hemi sounds awesome and I use sports mode we have to use 98 unleaded premium in Australia for the fuel but loved the information you provided cheers mate
I'm the owner of SRT8 WK2 and beside issues you described, I experienced: Tail gate not always latching, Radar in front issue, - Please clean the sensor ( dealer acknowledge that even single stone scratch can damage radar permanently and only solution is to replace it, which very costly ) and finally I did got message 4WD Service, after 85.000 km and had to replace Transfer Case ( All the inner parts )
@@EastCoastJeepSRT Funny, but even dealer acknowledge that even single stone scratch can damage radar surface and only replacement can solve the issue and it's very costly.
Kevin Crockett these issues is not major at all for a car this price. BMW’s and Benz have the same similar problems and worst. Sounds like you outta your price range. please don’t read this as if I’m saying it with attitude I’m not no offense if affend you lol
I have a 2015 SRT and have had the water pump go out and the trim issues. Replaced the carbon fiber trim once and it's starting to peel again. Also, there is some peeling on the wheels. I don't know, if that's all that I'm really going to have to deal with, then I'm okay with it. I buy a lot of new cars from all brands (foreign and domestic) and every car has had some issues. I love the SRT. It looks great, it drives great and so I would buy another. The only real issue I have with the car is the service at the dealers. JEEP/Chrysler service generally sucks pretty bad. The SRT is basically a luxury vehicle, but you have to get it serviced at a Chrysler dealership which just don't provide the same service you get at Lexus, Infiniti etc. An SRT is typically by far the most expensive car that the service center sees (by quite a margin) and they don't see them all that often. When you buy a $76,000 car, you expect the service to match that price point, but Chrysler just does not do that. Great car though. It's worth the hassle. I"m sure people like that like Range Rovers or BMWs will say the same thing even though those brands also have issues. Oh and yeah, don't buy it if you want to save on gas. My other car is a hybrid, so it sort of cancels things out I guess.
Hey there - about your CF Trim separating from the doors etc. If the issue you have is the complete CF trim piece starts to separate from the doors/dash etc., I know a product that might help to reattach and keep the CF Trim in place for good Sika 291i Marine Adhesive I use this stuff on my boat to stick stuff like teak railings to seats etc. - it's extremely good stuff and I'd expect would work AOK with a CF trim-piece used 'indoors' If your CF Trim is delaminating however, then that's a whole different issue
Good info! Have a 2011 WK2 limited and the first thing to go was the water pump. Have a 2017 SRT as well and so far OK but will watch out. Thanks for the tips. Very helpful.
I love the Jeep SRT just can’t afford one right now. I’m trying to get a JGC limited to replace my old truck. I’ve been watching your video the mods you have done are all amazing and have given me ideas on what I want to do once I get it. Thanks for making these videos and keep them coming! 👍
Mine started separating also. I just thought it was because it was from Arizona from the heat. I guess that's not the case. The passenger seat bottom shrunk also.
I bought my 2014 Jeep SRT brand new. I use it as my winter car, I have 36k on it now and I have had very little problems with it. I did have the carbon fiber issue on the drivers door, but the dealership replaced under warranty. I had the car into the dealership as well as opened 2 claims with SRT in regards to the Typical FCA Brembo squeak. I eventually fixed it on my own by spraying anti-vibration onto the back of the pads, I did that on my Hellcat as well and that fixes the problem instantly. I don’t beat on my cars, I keep them clean and up to date with all maintenance. The Jeep has been extremely reliable. Don’t hesitate to buy one as they are great vehicles and I get compliments still 5 years later on it.
I am thinking of getting a 2017 SRT Jeep. Have any of the problems you listed been fixed on the newer models? I am in Florida and I know the heat will stress the interior.
It’s not simply being able to afford premium gas, I think people want performance with a budget at the same time. What’s more important though, Prius affordability or a vehicle that moves 😉
Hi, does your temperature gauge fluctuate from below 1/2 to not quite 3/4? If I'm driving it seems to sit below half, and when I'm sitting at the lights and she's purring she creeps up to the line before 3/4, is this normal?
This was 3 years into ownership any update ? Shit I love the car and want one but am in a country with zero warranty on anything ever. Any other reliability issues couple more years in?
have a 2016, have had it for 8 months now. 45k miles. she’s fast, she runs super good. zero issues. not even the carbon trim problem lol. she’s a beast. 10/10
My carbon trim went as well. Both my front head lights were changed because of bad fogging issues. My sun roof frame had to be changed as the structure kreeked and all wheels where changed because of blistering... and it came back.
I am looking at purchasing a Grand Cherokee SRT between 2011-2014 year. I am looking for a fast Jeep to go mountain biking and skiing in Colorado. I will be putting a rack on top and I would like to put some off road capable tires on it. How does the SRT’s do in the snow and in your opinion should I get an SRT or the 5.7L Hemi in an Overland type model?
Looking at a 2016 summit with the 5.7 Hemi and also a 2014 Srt jgc. Any recommendations which way I should go. Love the power the 392 delivers but not sure what engine would be more reliable...
kickzfanatic with Jeep it’s hit or miss. If you want better gas mileage and more amenities go with the Summit, but if you love to have a fast car and don’t care about buying Premium gas, the SRT all the way.
You said you have a turbo/supercharger in yours. How much did the installation cost? I’m rolling in an 07 WK1, but I am looking for a new WK2, but don’t have $100 grand to spare on a TrackHawk (which looks like every other Jeep GC). I wish they put more emphasis on the trim considering the SRT is a special trim line. The body kit & exhaust setup on my WK1 SRT8 makes it stand out. Compared to the current version of the Jeep SRT...
Paul Van Natten Trackhawks are $77k now. Even cheaper for a slightly used one. Don’t get an SRT and then boost later. Won’t be as fast or cost effective. If you do get an SRT the coat to boost was $11k
Thank you for your video. Quick question. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2006 Cherokee SRT8? The car has 87k miles. Please let me know if this year was reliable and if you think this is a good deal. Thank you.
Will you get a warning on the main screen when your key fob battery is low? The reason i ask ,is i had this happen twice yesterday, put foot on brake hit the stop/start button to start the jeep and it just goes to accessory on...never started had to hit the start button a few times and it started right up...
Had every probs you had still love my baby only thing now just out of Warranty and told cylinder 7 Miss fire some costly problems now I’m thinking while heads are off should I get work done or replace stranded parts or let her go🤔what you think???
You know the gas octane makes a big difference!! I got 06 3.5 mag did a lot of upgrades to the point I need to run on 91 and the car runs so smooth and strong my buddy did the same and he’s having all types of problems
Fellow car guy here, and enjoyed this video. And nothing wrong with enjoynig a fun vehicle BUT we have to call out things as they are. I tallied up all the items that the SRT broke and this is NOT a reliable vehicle at all: Steering wheel aluminum trim peeling Water pump replaced Blower motor replaced Carbon fiber trim peeling Headlight replaced Fuel door replaced Windshield seal leaking Door lock actuators replaced Brake caliper clear coat peeling Wheel center cap bubbling Again, not a knock against performance vehicles as we know they are likely to be less reliable, but seems like the stereotype is still true that FCA (Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep) products are pretty bad at quality and reliability. Just telling it like it is.
nist7 Good point. I still think it’s reliable in the sense that none of these issues caused breakdowns. All were covered by warranty and were minor inconveniences. Appreciate your input.
nist7 wife has 162kmiles one her 2006 wk1srt and only thing we do on it is brakes, fluids, and mostly that’s it, ran a best of 13.1 @ 101 Fayetteville speedway it’s a very reliable vehicle to be a diamler/Chrysler vehicle
Dodges are pretty dang solid 2006 magnum r/t not one non maintenance thing broke till 176k 2007 1500 Hemi Laramie nothing broke 165k when I sold it 2007 ram 3500 6.7 sold at 200k nothing broke
Great vid. Te water pump issue is also common a failure in many German cars, especially in very hot weather. They are made from some kind of plastic material so they crack in hot weather. My Tiguan always had water level alarm on, but the engine temperature was never heating up. I’ve rented a Porsche Cayenne GTS and had leakage as well. I had to totally stop the car to let it cool down then add coolant. Here in Dubai, I discovered that even the agency is replacing it by a refurbished one.
What do use for a spare tire? I got rid of my run-flats.... and even upgraded to 22” rims. Still have stock but always wanted to know what fellow owners use for a spare?
EastCoastJeepSRT got cha! Never understood why we have that area under the floorboard which fits a tire if they don’t offer one. I’ll more than likely have to order an additional 20 and 22 spare.
Mines 2000% mint 👌🏻 doesn't miss a beat bought it new and never had an issue 7 years now and still running strong 💪 and it's all because i maintain it my brake calipers are repainted also did start to pil off abit but got it done asap 👍
What about the brakes pads and rotors because my sister in law have one str and make noise when ever she pushes the brakes she went to the dealership and they replaced them but they said they will always make the noise because is a high performance car
Hi just watched this video and read quiet a lot of the comments hope it's not to late to ask if I may? I've changed all fluids and filters and both the pumps 2 years ago and parked it till now. Mileage is 130k. Can you please advise as to how I should bring the jeep back on the road??? It's a 2010 srt8 your advise will really help me. This is genuine and serious issue. Don't really have smart mechanics around here!!!
After I sold my srt I bought an explorer sport. With 600 bucks using a livernois tuner and I now eat up the srt at crazy wed at Indianapolis raceway park. Ran a 12.9 at 115mph on 87 octane with a passenger. Just my opinion
BOBBY LAWSON The Explorer Sport stock against stock is slower than an SRT and also tuned. I ran a 12.98 stock in my Jeep at 107 mph on 91 octane last year at Atco in 54 degree temp.
@@EastCoastJeepSRT I believe you sir, what you know as an obvious street racer and lover of a family vehicle that hauls ass is it depends on the driver. If I hit the strip with you it would be a badass race. I give you props for knowing how to launch your jeep. So car guy to car guy I can only say respectfully we can finish our disagreement on the track. Respect brother.
Wish you could’ve talked more about the brembo break system. I bought a new ‘17 GC SRT about a year and a half ago, only have 20k miles and already need new front rotors/break pads. Apparently you can’t just replace pads because the rotors cannot be resurfaced and must be replaced with the pads. I got multiple shop opinions and now looking at droppin over $2k over here in AZ in order to replace both front rotors/break pads. I don’t even drive the hell out of my ride either. Any issues with your rotors/break pads? I know they’re high performance but damn I would expect them to last longer despite the weight of the vehicle and compared to other vehicles with brembos.
So it's ok to run a blower on a stock 2015 6.4lt Jeep SRT without having to beef up the motor and/or drivetrain? Not taking silly amounts of boost here - just a nice 2.9L Gen 3 at around 6.5psi boost...
Just bought a 2016 Jeep SRT with 27,000 miles... already caught a strong smell of coolant sitting at a red light. At what mileage did your water pump go??
Hi I have a 2012 srt grand Cherokee 6.4 with a intercooler super charger. I have had the water pump go then I had the thermostat go and to top it off the fuel pump as just gone. The car runs hot and there a brown sludge in the rad. Oil is fine. Are all the problems down to the super charger?
I have a V8 JGC, I love the vehicle but have had to replace the water pump, the brake booster, the fuel door and had it in for another recall. My top of my dashboard has also severely wrinkled in the GA heat and looks terrible. I enjoy my vehicle overall and I long for an SRT, but this is why my wife told me to get a Chevy.
I dont have a SRT Jeep but I got a V8 Ram. Ppl always ask me about gas. But I straight up tell them that u shouldn't buy anything V8 if gas going to be a problem for u. Simple...

One way to combat the squeak is to warm up the brakes within the 1st few minutes of the drive & then it goes away.
This is the most honest video I’ve seen on the GC SRT WK2.
If that's the most of the common problems - this makes me extremely happy! Just got my '19 SRT yesterday 😁
Steph Christiansen wanna race
You still got it?
how’s it going?
21 years old buying one of these tomorrow, glad I watched this video feel so much better making the purchase 🙏
Damn same here bro pick up in couple days
what are you thoughts so far
In my opinion, any car with no Engine and transmission issues is perfect 👍 thanks a ton for the honest review
strongly considering a 2016 with 37k miles. THANK YOU for making this video!
2013 5.7 Overland, blower motor, water pump and headlight went after 5 years. I was looking at Land Rovers Velar but do not like their turbo V4. Going for a new 2019 SRT, I just love these Hemi Jeeps. Great post with good info, thanks.
You're gonna buy a Land Rover because you don't like Jeep reliability? Ha, ha. If you want a reliable Land Rover, get a two year, 30,000 mile lease.
"yeah right"
And i tell myself...."best investment yet"
Hi i have a question. 🙂
Does this engine give up at any point like at 200000 miles? Because im thinking of buying a 2015 and it has around 70,000 miles on it so i wanted to know if i could use it till 200,000 miles with proper maintenance regardless of the history of the current user? Thank u!
Great info, been looking at the 2016-2018 SRTs and this is just the breakdown I was looking for 💯
Did you ever get one?
@@ATCM914 got a Charger Hellcat instead
Hey Ron, this video is one of the reasons I brought my SRT! There aren't many in the UK so content like this really helped me with my decision and I love it! Feel free to have a look at the latest video on the channel, would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Appreciate all the intel man. About to get mine from Carmax in a week when it arrives. 2014, 43k miles. I took notes and will look out for all that stuff when i pick it up. Hooyah Navy.
Nice! Keep me posted.
So how’s it going?
@@anthonydiaz8975 It's amazing. It's luxury, utility and speed all in one. It has all the tech and a beautiful interior. I couldn't be happier. Blacked out the front grill rings already, still have to do the window trim but I already have the blackout kit for it. I think when it's time to change vehicles again in like 5 or so years I'll most likely just get a newer model, that's how much I like it. Oh and gas is a nightmare but for me it's worth it.
@@_EightySix I want one sooo bad lol
1984 Nissan 300zx Turbo
1986 Mazda 626 Turbo
1993 Volvo 850GLT
2001 Volvo V70 Turbo - Factory pickup (Sweden)
2002 BMW 5451 4.4 V8 - Factory Pickup (Germany)
2003 Mrecedes E55 AMG Sedan - Factory Pickup (Germany)
2006 Mercedes E55 AMG Wagon - Factory Pickup (Germany)
And two other Jeep Grand Cherokee Summits, 2012 & 2013
They all had maintenance issues.
Gotta get that Wednesday car
You Have A Link To Order A Catch Can For My SRT?
Nice I'm thinking about going in this direction when the time comes, I love the comment from people about has mileage on a high performance vehicle .
Thanks
I had a 2007 300c srt8 with 150k miles I didnt have a single problem with it just brakes pad and a battery. Those 6.1 are very reliable.
You can see that army is strong with this one!11:54 knife handed your own door lol
gill pat haha yeah
I caught that too lol
Completely agree about the Pirelli’s. Extremely short life, expensive, horrible wet and snow traction. Felt completely unsettled in rain and just completely not safe in the snow. Replaced with Yokohama paradas and have never looked back.
Have those yokohama paradas on my 06 srt clone running 2754520 and they are pretty damm good
Yea that’s facts about the pirellis Smfh. Waste of money
I loved the gas part. You are 150% right on that,
No, please don't put 87, God please noooooooooooooooo... That was a good one Ron... Hahaha
lol
87 will burn faster 🤦🏿♂️ ppl are slow
Yeap. The motor just would not run smooth, I try once in my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee and as soon as I turn on the engine it just start shaking.
Yeah that trans will hate u for that lol
I have a 2015 srt with 44k miles. 2 minor issues repaired under warranty. 15 mpg on 93 octane. Great vehicle. Get one.
Robert DeForest 15mpg doesn't sound bad. I have a 2014 Ford flex Non Ecoboost that gets 17 mpg average and it's only a v6. Thinking of trading it in for a new Durango SRT
@@IamChucky_ My 2014 Ram with a 5.7 gets a little more than 12. My SRT gets better mileage. Its a great vehicle.
Just bought 2012 SRT8 jeep with only 62k miles and its been garage kept and dam good shape inside and out
SRT86.4 any problems yet? Update
Any updates?
Awesome truck, I’d love to own one some day. However, my 04 Corolla with 147k miles seems like it’s given me less maintenance trouble. I kinda wish all manufacturers made things a little bit better these days.
It’s 2022 and I’m getting a SrT jeep because of this video
Carbon fiber. Wheels peeling. Downshift clunks. Brembo calipers peeling. All these issues and I still wouldn’t get rid of it. Love my srt
Sucker born everyday!
@@user-maxim_79 I think the same thing when I smoke someone in a Mustang GT with my Trackhawk.
@@SpyvsSpy-yl9ip yes the older transmissions are not very good however the ZF in the 14+ is great.
I’m Melbourne bro. How you finding the car so far? Did you buy brand new?
I'm in Sydney too.. in the market for a used SRT 2012-2014. Love the look of them and the thought of having that 6.4L Hemi ready under my foot..
Thank you for your information……. I’m looking at my first 2015(wk2) today and know what to look for. Will update if I buy
Roman K Damn now I’m gonna check my radar glass and clean it
@@EastCoastJeepSRT Funny, but even dealer acknowledge that even single stone scratch can damage radar surface and only replacement can solve the issue and it's very costly.
Glad I watched this video. I can't pay that high price with these issues. Thanks.
Kevin Crockett these issues is not major at all for a car this price. BMW’s and Benz have the same similar problems and worst. Sounds like you outta your price range. please don’t read this as if I’m saying it with attitude I’m not no offense if affend you lol
Carbon fiber fails even in BMW and audi . Plus depending what year you own Chrysler covers because it's a common issue.
I used to put 87 in my vq40 but after doing some calculations, I discovered that 91 gives me more mileage! And the engine runs happier!
Agent. K. In a 6.1, 6.2, or 6.4 HEMI 91 or above is required. It’ll run on 87 but it’ll run like shit.
If the issue you have is the complete CF trim piece starts to separate from the doors/dash etc., I know a product that might help to reattach and keep the CF Trim in place for good
Sika 291i Marine Adhesive
I use this stuff on my boat to stick stuff like teak railings to seats etc. - it's extremely good stuff and I'd expect would work AOK with a CF trim-piece used 'indoors'
If your CF Trim is delaminating however, then that's a whole different issue
HERE WATCHING....JUST BOUGHT A 2012 SRT YESTERDAY FOR 28G'S 58XXX MILES, I love that thing

I just bought a 2015 SRT it came with Yamaha tires which tires do you recommend
Damn man. Thanks for the honesty but coming from a 4runner with zero problems in 10 years I’m a little afraid to make the jump now…
Sup my dude, nice truck! I got a 14 Cherokee limited with a Hemi, goes like hell! Good times! Subbed
Nice!
I am thinking of getting a 2017 SRT Jeep. Have any of the problems you listed been fixed on the newer models? I am in Florida and I know the heat will stress the interior.
Carbon fiber trim still peels. Water pumps still fail around 35-55k miles, and high mileage you can have the dreaded lifter issue
@@EastCoastJeepSRT sorry for all the questions but do you know if the trackhawk has the same issues?
2014 Cherokee srt owner here....another common issue are the sway bar links. Just changed mine last month.
It’s not simply being able to afford premium gas, I think people want performance with a budget at the same time. What’s more important though, Prius affordability or a vehicle that moves 😉
I think after this video, must replace in my 5,7 HEMI 2014 JGC OVERLAND - no leaks but the sound 🤘
I just bought 2016 Jeep RT never seen and can't find on internet anyone have any answers where to find info
Jeep RT?
JEEP RT??????
You gotta answer 😭😭😂
How did you fix the caliper peeling problem and the bubbling on the center cap? I also heard there were transfer case problems.
How many miles are on the Jeep?
Tercola87 I traded that one in. It has around 60,000 now. I have a 2018 Trackhawk with over 20,000 now and no issues
My sun roof frame had to be changed as the structure kreeked and all wheels where changed because of blistering... and it came back.
marcducati I sold my 2008 srt jeep cause of the sun roof leaking like crazy
I am looking at purchasing a Grand Cherokee SRT between 2011-2014 year. I am looking for a fast Jeep to go mountain biking and skiing in Colorado. I will be putting a rack on top and I would like to put some off road capable tires on it. How does the SRT’s do in the snow and in your opinion should I get an SRT or the 5.7L Hemi in an Overland type model?
were you in the marines?
Negative. Army.
Looking at a 2016 summit with the 5.7 Hemi and also a 2014 Srt jgc. Any recommendations which way I should go. Love the power the 392 delivers but not sure what engine would be more reliable...
kickzfanatic with Jeep it’s hit or miss. If you want better gas mileage and more amenities go with the Summit, but if you love to have a fast car and don’t care about buying Premium gas, the SRT all the way.
what did you decide on?
I wanna put 87 in one soooo bad now. Naughty naughty.
Thank you.
Good video real honest...... it’s just safe to say if you love the Srt and u really want one u will just deal wit the problems .......
True.
2017 wk2 here with the 3.6 V6, water pump replaced by dealership at 48k miles.
Same vehicle/engine as you and I'm starting to hear a noise at 36k. Most likely the water pump too.
Good lord, I was kicking the idea of getting one these. Guess I'm sticking with my Audi S4. Zero warranty issues in 3 years.
2 years later any issues on your Audi lol?
I tallied up all the items that the SRT broke and this is NOT a reliable vehicle at all:
Steering wheel aluminum trim peeling
Water pump replaced
Blower motor replaced
Carbon fiber trim peeling
Headlight replaced
Fuel door replaced
Windshield seal leaking
Door lock actuators replaced
Brake caliper clear coat peeling
Wheel center cap bubbling
Again, not a knock against performance vehicles as we know they are likely to be less reliable, but seems like the stereotype is still true that FCA (Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep) products are pretty bad at quality and reliability.
Dodges are pretty dang solid 2006 magnum r/t not one non maintenance thing broke till 176k
2007 1500 Hemi Laramie nothing broke 165k when I sold it
2007 ram 3500 6.7 sold at 200k nothing broke
The only problem my 2012 had is the carbon fiber coming off, that's it. I think he got a bad one.
He talked about 2015 models. Did you watched the whole video?
I have a full-size M652 as a spare and carry a plug kit plus compressor
EastCoastJeepSRT got cha! Never understood why we have that area under the floorboard which fits a tire if they don’t offer one. I’ll more than likely have to order an additional 20 and 22 spare.
Side fenders , help ... how to fix them , they are peeling off. Jeep grand cherokee Diesel 2019
You could use glue like I did because the 3M tape sucks
I'm looking at a 2014 Srt Jeep 95k miles for $26k , clean title ? Any suggestions or things I should check for ?
Mines 2000% mint 👌🏻 doesn't miss a beat bought it new and never had an issue 7 years now and still running strong 💪 and it's all because i maintain it my brake calipers are repainted also did start to pil off abit but got it done asap 👍
Hey there,
What did you have to do to get the extra power?
Also have you had any knocking through the driveline on take off at all?
Loda Same thing happened to me
So it's ok to run a blower on a stock 2015 6.4lt Jeep SRT without having to beef up the motor and/or drivetrain?
Not taking silly amounts of boost here - just a nice 2.9L Gen 3 at around 6.5psi boost...
Tony Rath Yes
Just bought a 2016 Jeep SRT with 27,000 miles... already caught a strong smell of coolant sitting at a red light. At what mileage did your water pump go??
I’ll have to check that video but before 30k
Hi I have a 2012 srt grand Cherokee 6.4 with a intercooler super charger.
I have had the water pump go then I had the thermostat go and to top it off the fuel pump as just gone.
The car runs hot and there a brown sludge in the rad. Oil is fine.
Are all the problems down to the super charger?
So its 2023 now did they fix the cardon fibre panels in the newer jeeps say 2020+ [had a 2015 that did that 5k to fix WTF !]
As far as I know they did
I have a V8 JGC, I love the vehicle but have had to replace the water pump, the brake booster, the fuel door and had it in for another recall. My top of my dashboard has also severely wrinkled in the GA heat and looks terrible. I enjoy my vehicle overall and I long for an SRT, but this is why my wife told me to get a Chevy.
What year model is the one that you used (driving) in this video - I am keen to compare with my 2013 model?
Ooops, sorry - it seems it was a 2015?
Insurance costs???
The insurance is not too expensive i just bought one
