I have a 2017 JGC Limited, 3.6 V6, almost 30K on it. not one problem. It's my Daily driver. The 2021 will be on an Alpha platform, I'll keep mine that on the MBZ platform, ZF trans and pentastar V6. It's the perfect size SUV and great for road trips.

I’m on the same page. I’m not an early adopter (guinea pig) person so I prefer the well-tested 4th Gen version. I also saw the new GC L and while I expect the two row version will be significantly smaller, I still expect it will be noticeably larger than the current version. The 3rd Gen actually was the perfect size to me but it rode like a truck compared to the new 2019 I bought.

2016 Limited with the Lux 2 package - about 21mpg with mostly highway driving. So far it's been a really good SUV except for a contaminated cooling system which had to be completely replaced but it was under warranty. That was a $3,500 repair.

Very similar to our 2012 ML350 4-Matic, back in early 2012 we cross shopped the Grand Cherokee. Really enjoyed the 5.7 V8 that was in the Limited one we drove. Wasn't impressed with the material quality of the interior and the infotainment looked like something out of a 2005 300C. Not to mentioned the Limited Grand Cherokee 5.7 came in arms reach of our current ML price-wise, suffice to say we ended up with the ML and 7 years 150k miles we couldn't be much happier. After looking at the new GLE with that truly HORRID "Hey-Mercedes feature" I think we'll be giving Jeep a second chance when the new Wagoneer arrives. Great video! Love to see the more pedestrian cars, now you just need more electrics on this channel.

Nice review. I have a 2011 with 112,000 miles. Yeah it is first year and five speed transmission but same Pentastar engine. It is a solid practical vehicle. Most issues don’t happen till 60,000 miles or after. I have a extended Mooar warranty that took care of them with 100 dollar deductible. Oil pump leak, radiator leak, both replaced. Still engine and transmission solid and love interior and ride

@@GlennsCarCollection I watched it. Good review. At the end of the day you bought another one :) As someone who owned a 5 series one time, I find the repair bills refreshingly low. I have had my share as I stated before (transmission intercooler replacement of 1,200 and oil pump another 1,200). Actually I have other things go bad too lol. Trick for Jeeps is MOPAR extended warranty. I got a lifetime warranty in 2011 (they were offering it because they were in dire financial circumstances post bankruptcy). Even now you can buy one for 2000 for 120,000 miles or 10 years. I think its worth it. Accepted at all Jeep dealers in the nation, 100 dollars deductible. Honestly, if you want to save money and not replace cars, it is a great deal.

Buy it new at the end of the year or look for a new 2019. It will be a much better buy than a used one. I bought a 2016 in Nov 2016 and paid $5,000 less than a used one. Of course this was a steal and probably a once in a lifetime buy, but I have been looking for a 2019 and have found great deals.

I just bought virtually the same vehicle. The Luxury Group II option gives you a lot of the upgrades that are in the higher level Overland trim level without the concerns associated with the air suspension or 20” tires. This package is very rare and hard to find and they go quick on the used car market.

I have a 2016 JGC Overland with the 5.7 Hemi. There are 59,000 miles on it and it will be needing tires and brakes this year. Winter mileage varies between 20 - 21 mpg. Summer mileage varies between 22 - 24 mpg. About 60% of the miles are highway and the rest a mix of rural and city. (I leave it in ECO mode). I have had zero issues with this vehicle. I would not hesitate to buy another.

Hey Glenn. So last few weeks I've been thinking of getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee so I decided to rent one on Turo for a few days to try it out. I rented a 2019 Limited. There's nothing wrong with it but personally it just feels monstrous and heavy. Once it's cruising on the highway its fine, but in city streets it just feels like I'm driving a boat. Maybe its just me because I've been driving sedans for a long time or is it maybe just the 2019 models? Is it just something you have to get use to or are any of the 2020 or 2021 models better improved?

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 месяца назад +1

Hi, yes it is bulky around town. I am used to sedans and sports cars. It dos feel big, it is big. It you have open roads were you live its probably fine but if you have a lot of tight turns maybe a sedan would be better.

I have a 2018 Overland which is fairly reliable mechanically but the motor for the air suspension blew the second week I bought the vehicle and scared the daylights out of me when it abruptly sank. Motor was replaced and its fine but this car is becoming an electronic nightmare. Tire pressure monitor stopped working (literally disappeared on the dash) along with the automatic high beams, and the start/stop mechanism failed and the dashboard reads "start/stop not ready battery charging.
Another annoyance is the buttons on the steering wheel are easily interfered with when you make a turn and suddenly you're looking at a digital speedometer instead of the analog one that I prefer. The worst part of it is you can't change it while driving as the dash clearly says it can't be changed while driving yet it can accidentally change when you make a turn.
Finally the bright chrome strip on the lid for the console compartment reflects sunlight right into the drivers eyes during spring and summer when the sun is higher in the sky. I have to place a strip of tape over it to prevent it but you would think that they would have changed that in the nine years of this edition of the Grand Cherokee.
Seems like every 5,000 miles when I go in for oil changes they have to fix something. Definitely going to dump it before the bumper to bumper warranty ends unless I can get a really good deal on an extended warranty. Bottom line is I should have leased it instead of buying it.

I have a 2015 Laredo 4x4. Died at 50K on Freeway. Alternator went out. Died again at 55K. Was misfiring on all cylinders. Had to get a full tune up. Im at 65K and its starting to sputter and seems to slip gears on freeway and at idle. Had transmission flushed twice and transfer case done. Just runs poor.

Nice car, drives amazing. But i am disappointed with the buid quality of this car. Interior feels cheap and makes clicking sounds too often which is very irritating.

Sales tax in New Jersey is cheap compare to California.

Yep, and we get a trade in tax credit as well. Buy a $40k car, trade in a $25k car, you only pay tax on the difference, $15k

I hate to break it to you but a year old isn’t “long term” lmao

    • @GlennsCarCollection

all long term reviews start with the initial purchase and continue the life of the vehicle. Car mags do long term which to them is 12 months

the last jeep I owned was an 02 grand cherokee. I loved it but had nothing but problems. I eventually got rid of it. I really want a new cherokee but I’m just concerned about possibly having similar issues. any insight from anyone?

I know you probably bought one by now but for other folks, I’d just load up a Limited with all the luxury packages instead of going with the Overland or Summit, that way you can avoid the air suspension.

The Grand Cherokee is a great SUV to own, I've been liking Jeeps since I was 5, my favorite model was the 1998 Grand Cherokee model

Those first generation GC are my favorite too! I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style although I rarely see any around these days.

You are one flat away from a ruined transmission. I see so many GC with bad transmission bc those owner get a flat and change out only that one tire.
With GC, if you replace on tire, you have to replace all 4. Total poor software tranny fail. I would never get one.

A long term view starts when the car/truck is brand new and goes on for years. See my 60k mile ownership review of my 2014 JGC
