Firestar was definitely one of the better leaders when it came to naming cats. Ferncloud, Echosong, Squirrelflight, Brightheart, and Briarlight are amazing names
For some reason I never thought about the fact that some leaders may be better at naming than others lmao, but that aside, echosong is a really pretty warrior name imo bright heart too
14:04 The verb "grok" actually comes from the 1961 novel "Stranger in a strange land" by Robert A. Heinlein. It means to understand something so deeply that it becomes a part of you.
I think Hawkfrost as a name works because the frost part is referring to how his eyes are blue. His fur color is also brown with a light underbelly, kinda like a hawk. Lionblaze also works for similar reasons, he's an orange cat with amber eyes and Firestar is his grandpa. I think Appledusk could've worked for a dark colored cat, when I first heard his name I did not picture a light colored one.
In my version of Windclan, the menders (my renaming of medicine cats) have a sort of legacy naming sentence. All of them have wind/sky elated suffixes, both symbolizing their loyalty to their clan and honoring the first mender, Moth Flight. Some of the names include Dapplesky, Sootcloud, and Myrtlegust. No other cats in the clan are granted suffixes like this, though bird-related ones like feather and wing are okay. I've also decided that Riverclan's current leader, Shellstar, just names based on what he thinks is fun with some consideration of appearance/temperament. Some of his names include Reedrustle, Duckswoop, Turtlestep, Cloudshimmer, and Finskip
Also I am VERY sorry if I sound tired/bored or irritated at some points in this video; I’ve had a fairly nasty stomach bug for the last couple of days including while recording this haha ^^; I promise I do love talking about this subject! EDIT: Thank you very much to everyone who has let me know that the word Grok does, in fact, exist! I think the fact that I searched "Grockable" was maybe the reason why nothing turned up; but I apologize for the unintentional misinformation! You can learn more about the word grok, which was coined by science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein, here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grok . Also, very sorry for the lack of responses! This was a lot more than I was expecting haha ^^;; I encourage you to rate each other's names if you would like to, though! Remember to keep all criticism respectful & helpful, which everyone is already doing an excellent job at
I’m so glad to see someone talking about this topic! I’ve loved warriors for most of my life and have been in the fandom for around 10 years, and I’ve recently noticed how people naming warriors ocs have changed so much (as well as their designs too)!! Unrealistic designs and unconventional names that don’t exactly fit the naming conventions of the books used to bother me a lot but now I love and fully embrace them! I see them as a fun way for people to express their creativity, adding onto the framework books gave us instead of staying stuck in the constraints of realism and the warriors book universe. This is just how I view it, and of course I don’t mind if people want to stick those constraints too! We should all be able to enjoy the series and our fan characters how we want because that’s what fandom and ocs are all about :3 I hope this made sense aha
It definitely did make sense, no worries! I totally agree; it’s super nice to see people branching out into more uncommon words. I think my favorite “non traditional” suffix is probably -scuffle, but I also quite enjoy -tongue, -plunge, and -fern right now :P The only ‘modern’ names that annoy me are the ones that use defunct/ridiculously specific words, mostly because I don’t even think the creators even know what they mean hahaha
@@rissiuniverse2072 Oh yeah, I ended up leaving several groups over the years because they got mad about like...30% of my characters having blue eyes. That was because they were related. Statistically related people/cats are more likely to have the same eye color.
@@hawktalon7890 who cares how many of your OCs have blue eyes??? let them have purple or pink eyes for all i care. who gives a shit? 😭 god, people are so silly.
Icewing, Nightwing, Mudwing, Sandwing, Seawing, Skywing, Rainwing, Silkwing, Hivewing, and Leafwing can be canon warrior names and there are two cats named Nightwing, and Icewing. Icewing is a riverclan cat. (WoF and WC fan here)
i stumbled upon this video not even checking the video count and assumed it must’ve been in the thousands, i did not expect it to be so low! this is a very well researched and high quality video. great work
I feel like these are okay general rules, but can be somewhat limited. I think having "mismatched" names with the characters, like Blackstar, add something to talk about with the character. In that way, they make a character stand out. Additionally, EVERY name being evocative in a group of cat names (like a clan) makes it hard for the important characters to stand out (storywise). In the human sense, it would be like everyone being named things like Cleopatria and no one being named Emily.
YES! I love it when prefixes especially tell you something about the characters past/family. For example, my main oc, Lilybloom, has the prefix Lily, something that sounds sweet, cute, and innocent at first, but lilies are actually poisonous plants, making her name a bit of a backhanded compliment. Which describes how her mother thinks about her pretty perfectly.
i got excited when you mentioned 'tongue' as a suffix, one of my cats is named wasptongue (they have a hierarchy naming system though, so she was "demoted" to nettlesting). this is a wonderful video and i loved hearing you analyze language in relation to these cats and forming a character in your mind! i feel like its something so much of us do subconciously, i loved getting to delve into what exactly makes a name sound "right" to our ears. super informative and well put together!
Just a lil correction (not important but still), Blackfoot has all four feet as black, not just one! Although a cat with one black foot sounds so cool, like a reverse Scourge!
Good to finally see someone touch on this subject If you wanted to you can rank my extremely old Ocs! RavenCall and RoseDapple. From what i remember RavenCall was the loud and obnoxious one and RoseDapple was the quiet one who just goes with the flow. If im also correct i think RavenCall was a black cat with a white spot on their chest (got alot of inspiration from RavenPaw i guess-) and RoseDapple was a calico spotted tabby. I also seemed to like R prefixes back then... guess it just sounded cool in my brain back then. I will admit though, i do have more untraditional Ocs than traditional ones. The traditional names are a bit too boring for me i guess.
Talking about old oc names reaminds me of my old oc, Bushbarry, who I made up in middle school, don't reamber to much about him other then he was bland as cardboard lol, can't even remember his pelt color, but he sure was fun to draw!
Another tip that wasn’t quite mentioned here is: the prefix should either be about the character’s appearance/easily identifiable traits straight out of the womb or about the parents, whereas the suffix should be about their personality or achievements.
I was startled to notice I actually agreed with this video, as I typically enjoy completely throwing out name conventions, and expected this video to be yet another "don't do this ever!" sort of thing. Instead, I was met with some actually excellent points and some wonderful tips on how to name a warrior cat something meaningful, or at least not anything that'll potentially impact others enjoyment of the character. I actually took some of this advice, and made an oc named howlinghail! Really ended up liking the character aswell- :D
THIS IS SO BASED OMG literally exactly what i think, but you worded it so eloquently!! if you'd consider non-sb names (sorry) for review, i offer softstep!! i'm curious, because i believe it works with most of these rules, and also i just like how it sounds 😭
Thank you so, so much!! I absolutely do take non-sb names, and I looove Softstep! I love alliteration, it's so great. I'd give it an 8 or 9/10, because it's very descriptive and the only thing it's really missing is imagery that's a sliiight bit more visceral, but it's still very good and DEFINITELY one of the best names you could get out of just canon prefixes and suffixes. Softprint, Softstride, Softstalk, Softshuffle, Softprowl, Softscamper, Softslink, Softskitter are all some replacements you could use, though I think Softstep works just as well as most of those! I think the only one I outright prefer is Softslink; but its not a very strong preference. Hush, Silk, and Muffle are prefix substitutes that might be good. Hushtread? I don't know if I like that better lol... anyways sorry for rambling about alternatives, I do really like Softstep a lot; there's just a lot of synonyms for those words! Thanks so much for commenting!
Ngl, one of my favorite warrior cats names that i've come up with is Grizzlysnarl, like, you can see the cat with this name so perfectly. But i was also curious on what anyone thinks of the names Newtspring (spring like jumping not the season) and Sagecure (sage the plant) since those two are my main oc's :]
I have an oc largely based off of the song “on top of the world” by the carpenters. Anyways basically she has a lot of hearts and warm color pelt. Her name is Amorawelt. I’m unsure if it sounds very pretty but the meaning of it is cool to me. As stated she is a very love themed oc, reasoning for the prefix of Amora (love). She ended up breaking the code beofre being given her name so she ended up getting the suffix Welt. I love it because it literally means dying love 🫣 Also love love your naming ways hehehe
personally I do enjoy compound prefixes too, they don't tend to feel hard or confusing to read (at least provided the prefix is something that's not hard itself to understand, like Primrose or Dragonfly) One of the more fun names I've had was Doodlebugtumble, long but still feeling snappy though I will concede I'm more tolerant of long prefixes in general than most may be (while still holding a distaste for unnecessary latin names or scientific/technical terms anyway)
Even though I'm not in the warrior cats fandom, As a worldbuilder and writer, it's really fun to learn about how different series come up with lore for the names of the characters.
I’d like to add one more rule; cats can be named after situations around their birth. I have some OCs named Sinking-kit and Cedar-blotch. Sinking-kit was born on a sinking ship and Cedar-blotch was born at the top of a very tall cedar tree.
I think the only one i have who doesn't follow is Delphinium'Wish but mostly because its a poisonous blue flower and he's a dark forest cat Eclipsed'Heart is also a bit on the long end but we love him
Good news! “Grok” is a real-ish word coined in the novel Stranger In A Strange Land in 1961 meaning “to know [something] truly and deeply”. Your teacher probably took the word, which became part of pop culture at some point after the book’s release, and derived “grokable” from it!
Some warrior cats names i made for my clan originally are:leafclaw, rotstar, rosemrytail but i think im changing them to sound better you can give suggestions btw but i think leafland, marytail (used to be a kittypet) and bearstar (beartuft) might be better
I have a character named Rainflight, she is named Rain because she was born a kittypet and her parents named her Rain, flight is because she’s a tall cat with the ability to jump long distances, bluestar named her flight because several cats said it looked like she was flying any time she jumped. Also Rain makes sense for darker cat colors and she’s black with blue eyes :p
My characters that break these rules and why: Blossomfox and Tulipkick, they got their suffixes because they defeated a long term enemy (a fox), also because Tulipkick is really explosive while Blossomfox is more laid back but also smart. Their prefixes being similar indicates their close sibling bond. Maplethorn, well uhh- she's a legacy name after Mapleshade besides literally having nothing to do with her except looking alike and being spiteful. But it fits though lol. Powdersnow is, well, she's special- Powder is just a weird prefix but tbf her original name as a kit was just Snow (dunno why they didn't just call her Snowpaw though and switch prefix and suffix around when she became a warrior) Names that I can confidently say I like: Ashenrise (is gray, almost died in a fire, rise like a phoenix, fire powers) Flowerpatch (soft and lovely like a flower, calico so her fur looks like a patch of flowers) Waddlerstar (yeah penguin is too long so I made her clan call them waddlers since they waddle around, thought is was creative) Twosight (she was born with a split tail so everyone thought her warrior name would be Twotail, she can see spirits and has a literal third eye that she never knew about before she unlocked her powers) Carrionface (poor boy was hated by his clan, his mother called him Hopekit but yeah the leader was an asshole just because he looked different. Aka he had two left paws, a second smaller left eye beneath the normal one, and his left ear was oddly split) Tinystep (you really get the vibe that she is tiny because she takes tiny steps, but it's also because she's careful and caring, she doesn't want the kits to fall behind so she takes tiny steps as to not accidentally get ahead of them) Brittlestone (soft baby, name sounds nice, is sick a lot) Dustkick (she's very hot headed, sand coloured, and she kicks up dust when she fights)
It scares me to death knowing i could've actually used one of your scratch generators bc i made silly warrior cat games and liked to see what ppl had in their gens on there
my first warrior cat ocs were Blueleaf and Amberheart, (I made them after reading the first book of the second series, i didn't even realize there was a series before it so I didn't know there was a Bluestar or Fireheart yet LOL) so I will say I've grown better with naming, or so I hope.. (I will never not love Ravensplash as a name)
A but off topic but if you were up for it I’d love to see a video potentially coming up with alternative names for different canon warriors. The names you came up with for lionblaze were awesome and I’d love to see more!
[ 17:20 ] - An example of this could be ( *Cobraheart* ) my oc. No she doesnt resemble a cobra but. She is an *evil manuplative* she-cat that forces her mate to say in their relationship and threatens to kill him if he ever leaves her. So she is *toxic* like a cobra is!
I have quite a few cats for some discord roleplays, my favourites are Thymeheart and Crowsong (looks opposite to what you’d expect from a cat called crow, but there is backstory to that), and the rest are Mallowburr (original Avensburr but the moderators didn’t like that name), Pearwhisker, Speckledstride, Cranehop, Turtletail and Dewdapple (the last two were named by a friend) and of course “Catstar” but I just use that guy as an example when I can’t bother coming up with a name for an example.
This was a super interesting video, and i wanted to share a couple names i thought of while watching! *Vulturesnap* and *Vulturecrunch* both evoke the imagery of bones being crushed in a vultures beak to me, but where "snap" feels quick and sharp, "crunch" feels more slow and deliberate. *Vipershape* is one i feel rolls off the tongue very nicely, and is quite evocative! It could imply a cat who resembles a viper, smooth and sharp, literally being "viper-shaped", or it could be a cat who is metaphorically viper-like, quickwitted and dangerous. And last but not least, *Snowflood* sounds really nice with the double "o" sound, and makes me think of a cat who is white and fluffy, but not "cloudy", very dense and weighted, maybe almost drippy. But it also makes me think of a camp having all the dens blocked up with snow after a blizzard. I hope you like these names as much as i do lol!
10:58 since I’m writing a warriorcats clan set in Maine I’m using lots of Maine flora & fauna lol (I’m from Maine) It’s called newt clan because of a memory when I was little where I caught a newt and was obsessed with it for like a day before I let it go lol
Me, watching this video, with most of my warriors ocs being apart of a decently big roleplay in which we have the most crazy, out of pocket warrior names: My characters are Owlstem, Rookcall, Chroniclehaven (prefix picked by me, suffix chosen out of a list), Rosemaryrune and my current one, Boogarden (neither the prefix or suffix were chosen by me, but I applied for them when they were a kit.) But we’re having fun, and that’s what matters :] Thank you for posting this video! It’s really well thought out :D
You know, whenever I create my warriors ocs, I always take into account their personalities and appearance, heck even when i'm coming up with characters for my original fiction/stories, I often have my characters' names relate to their personalities. One warrior name I really love that i came up with is Rosethorn. Rosethorn is a ginger-cream she-cat who has prickly spikey looking fur but despite her appearance, she has a sweet disposition but in the current story I'm writing with her in it, she had a crush on a warrior tom who was romantically involved with the medicine cat of her clan, but due to the tom dying, she blames Snakeblood (the medicine cat) for the warrior death. So she became very bitter and snarky, and her words whenever she speaks to Snakeblood always pricks Snakeblood's heart because her words are sweet/honeyed but they also stick like a thorn.
I do agree with the majority of these, but I have used Butterflypaw and Buttercupsway as warrior cat names and I will not apologize for it. Limiting prefixes to just be one word kind of defeats the purpose of my wild adventure of finding prefixes that I haven't used yet. I have used other words for prefixes not commonly known to the warrior universe. Such as Granite, Garnet, Pearl, and other gemstones and have used Iron in the same way, as Ironchirp. It is mainly used to describe the cat's color and the -chirp suffix could mean the cat is very short-spoken or just very awkward. Limiting prefixes to the natural world isn't something I enjoy doing and there's nothing wrong with that.
Yeah the Tiger/Lion/LeopardClan stuff always fringed into unbelievability for me, especially when you take into consideration the canon presented in DOTC. You could always say they picked up the mythos from kittypets or whathaveyou, but for such seemingly pervasive mythology it's never brought up in the mainline books (outside of the temporary Clan namings at the end of TPB), only the guidebooks. ... This is actually making me think about WC paganism now that I'm remembering that. Maybe it was a religious practice that died out or something... idk lol ^^;; Anyways you're totally right, even if we ignore the presented mythos they still shouldn't really know those words. The fact that they draw the line at Coyote but not Lion is so funny to me.
yeah exactly!! i think dotc names were /perfect/ sense-wise, i mean, jagged peak, clear sky, hawk swoop… it’s all stuff they were surrounded by, and when they travelled they only knew what the farm animals because of legends from their elders
@@sunstartle I find this especially funny because Tigerclaw was originally gonna be named Hammerclaw, and their reasoning for changing it was that wild cats wouldn’t know what a hammer was, but they sure knew about *tigers*
11:28 for this I used this for a lot of my ocs! One of them is a kit named Purinkit (which is a type of japanese pudding I believe) who was actually born to a Skyclan cat and a loner, taken and raised in a bakery hence the name, abandoned after said bakery went bankrupt and found by a Skyclan patrol to reunite with his mother (who doesn’t know its her actual kit) to keep the name Purin but with the suffix ‘kit’! Another is my CrescentClan oc Curry. He was born as a rouge cat as a kit to parents I have not yet named, but he probably came from an asian country. He was found by a CrescentClan warrior who raised him as a Dendad and he grew up as Curry. CrescentClan however didn’t like keeping loner/rouge/kittypet names, but something happened and he kept his. He became the Clan’s Seer (a cat who’s a sub category of a medicine cat but has a FAR closer connection to StarClan) and his one of the most annoying cats you’ll EVER meet. Capsaicinpaw is another. Similar to Purinkit, but he was born in Riverclan by two kittypet parents who joined the clan and sadly passed later on. They named him Capsaicinkit because of his firey coat and Capsaicin is the chemical usually found in hotpeppers, ghost peppers, etc.
Usually I find it harder to sit through longer videos like this, but I found myself getting lost in your art, and your voice just sounds so calming! So, I did end up sitting through the whole thing, surprisingly, and I love your art style, it's so unique! I agree with all the points you made, and it will definitely help me when I make new characters. Earned yourself a new sub!
I've been waiting for someone to talk about this 😭thank you so much for actually touching on the fact that midnight and buttercup are so frustrating to say 💀
I cannot describe to you how excited I got hearing you mention scratch! Most of my internet involvement with the Warrior Cats community took place on scratch when I was in middle school, and I don’t see it talked about now very much. Every once in a while I log back in and look at all my old cat name and character generators because those were my FAVORITE. I’m pretty sure people STILL comment/use them to this day which makes me so happy. Anyways, loved your video and how you went into such depth with the naming system…it’s low key inspiring me to make some new generators and names haha.
Something that upsets me a lot is when I name a cat for my own original story and someone goes "they wouldn't know what that is!" but in my world they would. Like RubyCloud. These cats canonically live in a cave with a lot of crystals. also they're fantasy cats who act like humans basically all the time except on four legs with paws who have government and religion, I don't think it really matters what I'm doing in my own fictional spinoff world of these weird little cat books.
I have this game with myself where I try to make the longest warriors name I can (syllable-wise) that still sounds good, because I am mad about the people who name their warriors things like "seaturtlesmile" and "odysseykindling" (both real names I have seen) So far, the longest I've gotten is six syllables with Alligatorthicket and Dandelionfeather! I think they sound alright! I wanna get to seven syllables eventually but it'll be hard, I'd need a four syllable prefix and a three syllable suffix (I'm considering -wanderer but not sure what prefix to pair it with lol) I don't think I could get eight syllables to sound good but I'd be interested to try! also, just for fun, but here's some of my favorite warrior names I have encountered that I genuinely like! (I also have a list of ones I think are funny but idk lol): -Foxtongue -Rattledance -Bearwatcher none of these are my characters but they're just... such good names, particularly Rattledance and Foxtongue imo
this is quite helpful as a young writer trying to start a warriors story :o i’m a bit worried about overusing ‘extravagant’ words, but that might just be more because of my general vocabulary, not because of thesaurus, so i’ll start attempting to use simpler terms i can think of :D (basically reverse the goal of thesaurus users, lol) thank you for posting this!
I’d love you to rate my old WarriorCats OC’s! His name is shatteredrose and he’s a calico Tom! Him being a male calico made his clan worried as it’s never happened in their clan before. They believed he was a bad omen and forced him into the medicine den very young. He learned to heal by the old, blind she whom was also tossed in the medicine den for being blind. They connect to one another extremely well as neither of them were given a name, the old she was nicknamed missy by shatteredrose and missy called him her little rose. They were like family until one day missy passes away. Shatteredrose grows sad and alone as his clan throws insults every waking moment they can. Till one day he gets fed up and leaves the clan. He then takes up the name shatteredrose to make sure he never forgets what his clan did to him and his mentor. While he’s not aggressive or revenge seeking but he never will forgive the clan that tossed him away like crowfood. Anyways that’s it! He’s one of my favorite cats!
I really like the rules you've put in here, though I'm also glad that you put in as a preface that these are not, nor should they be, ironclad rules. After all, even the books themselves don't always follow them (such as with Yellowfang (no sign of yellow on her), or TigerClaw (not really a common animal for cats to come across in general, let alone in the UK), as well as the other examples you give in your own video. A really "out-there" name could also hint to a deep history; perhaps "Cactus" pops up as a legacy name in a clan that lives in a temperate forest because they migrated from a desert many generations ago. Though, fun fact; there are some pines that grow in the desert, though they're usually human-transplants, not native. Still, if a clan lives nearby humans, it's not impossible for them to encounter one.
I remember writing a background character in the spinoff of my fanfic named Weaslestride and even though I killed him off real quick, I’m obsessed with him now He was always late, but strutted around like he owned the world, hence the suffix “stride” Other names I had were “Newtspot” “Foxfoot” “Mapleclaw” “Rosebloom” and “Thunderstrike” One of my favourite silly names was when my friend named his role play character “Hawkeye” It makes me giggle now
Garfield is a completely valid warrior name, with a prefix of "gar" (the fish) and ofc the suffix "field". and the only rank itd sound kind of weird in is the leader rank bc both "gar" and "star" both contain the "ar" sound in the same spot. and no i am not original in saying this i took it from a textpost
also tumblr user Bonefall created a conlang (clanmew) for warrior cats that does a good job of making you think about the meaning of your cats name! I have a cat named Webthroat, but in Clanmew, there's two words for web, Yyb, a large flat web, or Feep for a cobweb, so i had to think about where the web prefix came from, and whether it references a flat web for a spider catching prey, or an old abandoned cobweb (and ended up going with Yybau'u!)
You made a very good point about world building effecting the names cats can have, and I use that in my OC stories. I have a group of kittypets that joined one of my clans, and when they eventually have kits three of their names end up being; Sweetiedrop, Toastflight, and Jakewing.
Thank you for addressing this! I’ve been waiting for someone to step up and say something for a while now lol. While I don’t believe anyone who uses unnecessarily long/contradictory names for their cats should be forced to suddenly change them, etc. I do think this video’s topic should be kept in mind while coming up with a suitable name that won’t get in the way with writing or character development!
Can you review some of my cat names? Silentsong - black and white tom, loud and spikey, likes to yell his opinion to the crowd, yet he went though a lot of trauma when he was a kit, loosing his mother (named in RiverClan) Lightningheart - Calico she-cat, waited for her friends to pass their assessment before becoming a warrior, cares about everyone in her clan (SkyClan) Duskpool - Brown and black she-cat, medicine cat who is kind yet playful, (My clan, FireClan, they live underground) Blackmoon - half black half white tom, mysterious and likes to keep to the shadows, has very few friends and prefers to be alone (ThunderClan)
Fun fact:Don’t know your clan characters personality to name them like it yet? Use clan development by saying at this time they use appearance over personality for naming!
24:25 this particular name generated a very clear idea for a character based on an inversion of Dancerain: Flamedance. I might make a whole oc from this thought alone
still extremely proud of my main stinky boy, Clayslip. his father, Mosspelt, was deputy of Willowclan all the way until he reached his elder years, and Claypaw always wanted to follow in his pawsteps. before his warrior ceremony, Claypaw tried to prove himself to his father and their leader that he would be a worthy deputy - and he did something extremely reckless. he lured a fox into camp and fought it off, all in order to impress the leader. however, the plan backfired, and Driftstar saw a darkness in Claypaw - a hint of envy and foolhardyness, traits that told her he would not be a worthy deputy. during his naming ceremony, Claypaw is named Clayslip - as opposed to the name he was supposed to receive, Claystripe. Driftstar explains that while Clayslip is a fine warrior who is loyal to his clan, he is also a reckless fool, and if he keeps up his schemes for glory, he will fall down a slippery slope of darkness and lead the clan to disaster. she hopes his name will be a reminder of that fate. which, unfortunately, ends up coming true...
I remember when in roleplays we all had normal names like Stormpaw, or Foxtail. Nowadays people are using so many weird suffix’s and prefix’s that never existed! I saw someone named ‘SpringVineStar’ once and was super weirded out. I’ve seen so many CrysamfumumUnicornSparkle's in my roleplays. Meanwhile I’m still just a black or cream cat named Ravenfeather or Honeytail! This literally is what I joke about to my brother basically every day!
Oooh this is cool! It's been a while since i've made Warriors OC, but here some of my old names Foxleap - Fox, because shes fox coloured, leap because in her backstory, she was raised fighting other cats and her signature move was jumping over her enemy to attack from behind. Willow grove - Literally just a name i made up for a random pretty cat i drew. Sandybreeze- A sweet fluffy yellowy coloured cat. Bird feather- Anxious deputy, blue gray with one white paw and soft flowing fur, the feather was because he caught a small bird when he was a young kit as an act of defiance (he wanted to be an apprentice) Hazel star- Hazel coloured leader, strong personality, kind. Overall a very good leader. Here are some others that i thought of while watching this Hollowcough, Frostform, Bitterwind, Scarsetuft, ScreechingNettle, Softbrush, Rosedawn, Sunfrost, Snakerattle
I agree with most of these points here and utilize them when naming my OCs, great video! If I may suggest something else that I do is I typically reserve the prefix to something appearance-based or heritage-based and the suffix to something personality or experience-based. It makes logical sense to me as it would be hard to gauge a kits personality right off the bat, and it would make more sense for them to be named something resembling how they look and only then to get a name fitting of their personality after they’ve had time to grow and have experiences to make a suffix really matter and be fitting/relatable to the character. Really the only times where I break this is if I have the leader switch up the name during the warrior ceremony, like I have a character named Twistedsong who was named Songkit/paw and upon graduating requested to be named Twistedsong for her experiences with finding herself and dealing with an injury she learned to live through.
I have a special system where the clan cats are named after adverbs/verbs as their warrior names ex: my oc Luminous’Papillon. They were originally named “Luminous’Kit” and got the name from a kittypet who understood French. The naming system is generally backwards, with the suffix being given first and the prefix (typically an adverb) given after! Some other examples: Evening’Kit -> Evening’Shadow/Evening’Star Shimmering’Kit -> Shimmering’Crane Clouded’Kit -> Clouded’Mind Fogged’Kit -> Fogged’Heart Shrouded’Kit
Some of my favorite OC names I've come up with are Wildpad, a kittypet turned warrior, tends to volunteer for patrols Spiderhound, no real reason for the spider other than one freaking out the med cat apprentice during kitting, but she is the clan's best tracker Sneezeblood, very sneezy kit who got sick often, she's got unusual red striping and she's a medicine cat. Her forepaws are also red, kinda looks like blood if you don't know it's her actual color lol Aridsun, he was born during a drought, has light cream pelt Echotail, has two tails Blacklight, for the meme of it, but also she's a dark tortie with very vibrant blue/violet eyes Honeymumble, golden she-cat, very shy Wolfdart, her father was killed by a wolf, very fast B3 That's a lot... xD
What I don’t understand about Blackstar is that he had to be named Blackkit and Blackpaw before his name actually made sense and referenced specifically his Black-foot. So did his mom just hope that would eventually be his warrior name??? 😂
5:54 I feel the same and I'm so glad someone is saying it So many times I've seen cats with the prefix kingfisher and it just makes the name a mouthful
I put this on to give my brain something to do while drawing a forest fire which is . . . super duper repetitive and u stay stuck on the same step/layer for ages XD Anyway, I found it to be just the thing because it's very engaging and interesting! I find I always love hearing or reading about writing advice or literary analysis from people who at least have a decent grasp of what they are talking about. This brought up a lot of cool things that can definitely be applied in lots of different writing instances, even if one has nothing to do with the warriors fandom, lol.
I have pretty mixed feelings ab this video bc on the one hand i really hate when others dictate rules for how u should name ur own oc(though i understand this is just for fun) but also i agree w some of ur rules whole-heartedly!! I hate "traditional" naming and how limiting it is based on names in canon(most of which are quite boring ngl) but also i find it so fun to take into account the territory, personalities of parents or leaders, and skills the cat has when naming them(though my names due get repetitive after a while bc i have a habit of naming good mentors -path or -trail). Long names are also my love(throwback to that one oc i had named densukewatermelonvolcano(it was mostly a joke)) that u cannot take away from me but i understand when it gets confusing esp with compound words. all that being said im interested in what u have to say ab some of my oc's names: Shadedpath, Copperhorse, Inkyswarm, Hearthscatter, Doesmoke, and Autumnflood ik thats a lot of names, those are the ones i just think demonstrate the way i name ocs the best. If u could only do 1-3 i'd choose Autumnflood, Doesmoke, and Copperhorse in that order. Also those three in particular have reasons as to why their names are that way so I'd be curious to see what u thought the reasoning behind them was. One last thing- could u link the perchance generator u made that u were showing off in ur video :0 it looks rlly cool
Ok that art is beautiful but I must say just YES I entirely agree with (most) of these ideas, I myself am not very good with my words but I wholeheartedly feel like almost everything said here is what I would’ve if I had the time/script/etc… And completely fair on the whole ‘less into controversy’ thing, personally I agree that it can be anxiety inducing and either way you’re very well spoken. …and yes I *will* be taking into account your name review offer hello there I’m personally less into warrior cats outside of reading-wise, but I have this old character I used to work on in a like ‘in the future’ thunderclan setting based(very, very loosely) off of another fan story that I read a total of one page of.. His name is Softfur(or pelt… don’t entirely remember-?), mainly due to his soft and round build compared to the very pointed, ‘sudden’ marks on his fur. He’s got a soft tongue and doesn’t really like verbal or loud fights, and tends to keep things on the quiet side, which somehow made him a little prone to being very good at ending arguments very quickly, despite seeming to have an odd hunger for battle. Uhh .. It’s been awhile since I used him and don’t entirely remember his story much (plus something he did I might wanna keep off of the RUclips comment section ig) but that’s about it. I’m more so curious on any opinion atp
Thank you so so much!! And never apologize for long comments, I LOVE long comments to death! Softfur is definitely very good thematically, but I feel like if its about the personality of the cat also a suffix other than -fur might be a bit more fitting? Some suffix related to his words might be nice, like Softcall, Softsong, Softmurmur. Could also use other body parts -- if its his *shape* that's rounder, something like Softbrow, Softchin, Softsnout. And then walking: Softstalk, Softstride, Softgait etcetera. Other words for Soft that might function are Feather, Breeze, Fleeting (or just Fleet), Dainty, Downy, Low, Quiet, Satin, Velvet, Silk. Wow sorry for just dumping 20 bazillion words on you lmao -- I do think Softfur (or Softpelt!) definitely works and may be even more fitting than some of the names I'm suggested if it's supposed to come off as canon compliant. I also love how its given to a tomcat, since toms are usually thought of as harsh aggressive strict etcetera it's nice to see a character who breaks that mold :)
@@sunstartle Oh yeah honestly the division between the male and female names never really was noticed by me so I went with the more soft thing lol But honestly it’s ok! I actually do feel like a good amount of those fit really well too I’ll probably experiment with a few of them to see how I like them :00
I'm not really an active participant in the warriors fandom anymore, but I held on to one name that I have always loved. PuddleJump I never even used it on any character because I loved it so much.
throwing my hat in the ‘rate my cat’ ring: - Roseleaf, a kind medicine cat who happens to be a little overprotective - Chirpsong, a mischievous, brash, and leaderly cat - Waspwing, a quiet cat who can be very intense at times - Hornetsting, an energetic cat who isn’t afraid to speak their mind - Beemutter, a shy cat who can be very talkative once you get to know them - Swallowswoop, a courageous and helpful cat - Fogwisp, a drifting cat who has experienced abuse and tragedy - Murkpool, a daring cat who’s never afraid to dip into the murkiest pools - anddd Lakeflame, a kindly old cat who dreams of adventure
I have a clan with some friends where (most of) the characters are named after types of tea! Some of my favorites are: ChaiStar SenchaWhisper MintBreeze BobaPaw EarlGaze Alot of those wouldn't make sense in a normal warrior cats setting but it was really fun coming up with names with a theme, even if many of them wouldn't make sense to a canon cat
Firestar was definitely one of the better leaders when it came to naming cats. Ferncloud, Echosong, Squirrelflight, Brightheart, and Briarlight are amazing names
I agree but we do still have some gems like Bristlefrost
For some reason I never thought about the fact that some leaders may be better at naming than others lmao, but that aside, echosong is a really pretty warrior name imo bright heart too
Wait Echosong was a name? Thats my oc name oops - LOL
IDC IDC IDC IDC IDC IDC IDC i am simply pretending haha! i care deeply
@@Criosphinx. She was in Firestar's Quest, she's the first medicine cat in the revived SkyClan
This reminds me of the fact that "Smokeweed" is a valid warrior cats name
Garfield and Pussywillowwillow are also valid names
So are marshmallow, mountaindew, and whiteclaw (which is actually used in the cannon)
So is airpod twitchstream flashlight Bigfoot twoleg powdernose and so on 😭
Garfield is also valid
Moonshine is also valid warrior name
14:04 The verb "grok" actually comes from the 1961 novel "Stranger in a strange land" by Robert A. Heinlein. It means to understand something so deeply that it becomes a part of you.
Thank you!!! Someone else who knows!!!
I don't actually know but I have a feeling the word was in the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy
I imagined one that was the colour of dried apples or wheat
I thought Moth Flight was Thundeclan????
What?????
@@Phantom_Of_Fandoms Nope, she's WindClans first med.
There’s a Hawaiian species of hawk called an ‘io so for a clan on a tropical island Wario is a hypothetical name
I HATE YOUUUUU
Honestly, cats with names based on words used by Indigenous people have so much potential.
Remember to keep all criticism respectful & helpful, which everyone is already doing an excellent job at
that sucks, I’ve only had the stomach bug once but it was so bad :( feel better soon !!
By the way I used to follow your scratch and toyhouse
I think my favorite “non traditional” suffix is probably -scuffle, but I also quite enjoy -tongue, -plunge, and -fern right now :P
The only ‘modern’ names that annoy me are the ones that use defunct/ridiculously specific words, mostly because I don’t even think the creators even know what they mean hahaha
i remember when people would get mad at you if your OC had blue eyes. like. no exceptions.
cats have blue eyes??? Siamese cats have blue eyes. 😭
Mika enstars pfp!!
(WoF and WC fan here)
i stumbled upon this video not even checking the video count and assumed it must’ve been in the thousands, i did not expect it to be so low! this is a very well researched and high quality video. great work
Agh thank you so much!! That really means a ton, I'm so glad you enjoyed it
I agree, your art is so beautiful, and arguments so well thought out, it's insane how little views you receive.
hi in am bormal
Which describes how her mother thinks about her pretty perfectly.
i also have an oc with lily as a prefix ! same reasoning as yours, she is pretty but she has a terrible temperament
i got excited when you mentioned 'tongue' as a suffix, one of my cats is named wasptongue (they have a hierarchy naming system though, so she was "demoted" to nettlesting). this is a wonderful video and i loved hearing you analyze language in relation to these cats and forming a character in your mind! i feel like its something so much of us do subconciously, i loved getting to delve into what exactly makes a name sound "right" to our ears. super informative and well put together!
I have a cat named Silvertongue, and she is the main antagonist in my story
Just a lil correction (not important but still), Blackfoot has all four feet as black, not just one! Although a cat with one black foot sounds so cool, like a reverse Scourge!
Good to finally see someone touch on this subject
If you wanted to you can rank my extremely old Ocs!
Thank you so much!
Haha I looove old warrior cats OCs; my oldest one was named Meadowwind (I do NOT enjoy that double w....
Talking about old oc names reaminds me of my old oc, Bushbarry, who I made up in middle school, don't reamber to much about him other then he was bland as cardboard lol, can't even remember his pelt color, but he sure was fun to draw!
Felt the R thing. I have too many kitties with the letter L in them lmao
I think Dapplerose would actually be great, it flows nicer!!
On the topic of names, sunstartle is so fun to say haha!
Love this video, wonderfully made!
Side note but do you accept fanart?
The part about same sounds at the beginning of names came on when I was drawing my on, swiftsnatch
I wouldn’t know like half of my vocabulary if it wasn’t for Arc 1 prefixes
I love ALL OF THOSE
I have an oc largely based off of the song “on top of the world” by the carpenters. I love it because it literally means dying love 🫣
Also love love your naming ways hehehe
personally I do enjoy compound prefixes too, they don't tend to feel hard or confusing to read (at least provided the prefix is something that's not hard itself to understand, like Primrose or Dragonfly)
One of the more fun names I've had was Doodlebugtumble, long but still feeling snappy
though I will concede I'm more tolerant of long prefixes in general than most may be (while still holding a distaste for unnecessary latin names or scientific/technical terms anyway)
I LOVE Doodlebugtumble
9:47 - Now I want to make a warrior cat who IS a biologist XD
this is super interesting! i’d be excited to see a part two, maybe, analysing how the canon books themselves approach naming now with the new team?
Even though I'm not in the warrior cats fandom, As a worldbuilder and writer, it's really fun to learn about how different series come up with lore for the names of the characters.
When I draw TallStar, he is tall. It's just how my brain works
I’d like to add one more rule; cats can be named after situations around their birth. I have some OCs named Sinking-kit and Cedar-blotch. Sinking-kit was born on a sinking ship and Cedar-blotch was born at the top of a very tall cedar tree.
question: how did these situations even happen, I am very curious lol
I think the only one i have who doesn't follow is Delphinium'Wish but mostly because its a poisonous blue flower and he's a dark forest cat
Eclipsed'Heart is also a bit on the long end but we love him
I LOVE Breakinglight as a name. I can already envision that cat.
My characters that break these rules and why:
Blossomfox and Tulipkick, they got their suffixes because they defeated a long term enemy (a fox), also because Tulipkick is really explosive while Blossomfox is more laid back but also smart. Their prefixes being similar indicates their close sibling bond.
Maplethorn, well uhh- she's a legacy name after Mapleshade besides literally having nothing to do with her except looking alike and being spiteful. But it fits though lol.
Powdersnow is, well, she's special- Powder is just a weird prefix but tbf her original name as a kit was just Snow (dunno why they didn't just call her Snowpaw though and switch prefix and suffix around when she became a warrior)
Names that I can confidently say I like:
Ashenrise (is gray, almost died in a fire, rise like a phoenix, fire powers) Flowerpatch (soft and lovely like a flower, calico so her fur looks like a patch of flowers) Waddlerstar (yeah penguin is too long so I made her clan call them waddlers since they waddle around, thought is was creative) Twosight (she was born with a split tail so everyone thought her warrior name would be Twotail, she can see spirits and has a literal third eye that she never knew about before she unlocked her powers) Carrionface (poor boy was hated by his clan, his mother called him Hopekit but yeah the leader was an asshole just because he looked different.
The names you came up with for lionblaze were awesome and I’d love to see more!
oh wow, i didnt know you used to have scratch. thats cool! scratch is nostalgic :)
Those are all such cool names!! One of my friends has an oc named Crowsong as well, except he's a black cat like the name would suggest.
@@MystDupp haha, that’s so cool! My Crowsong is ginger and white, there is more to that and he does wear crow feathers, but I love him.
10:58 since I’m writing a warriorcats clan set in Maine I’m using lots of Maine flora & fauna lol
(I’m from Maine)
It’s called newt clan because of a memory when I was little where I caught a newt and was obsessed with it for like a day before I let it go lol
Me, watching this video, with most of my warriors ocs being apart of a decently big roleplay in which we have the most crazy, out of pocket warrior names:
My characters are Owlstem, Rookcall, Chroniclehaven (prefix picked by me, suffix chosen out of a list), Rosemaryrune and my current one, Boogarden (neither the prefix or suffix were chosen by me, but I applied for them when they were a kit.)
But we’re having fun, and that’s what matters :]
Thank you for posting this video!
11:13 this is why i always thought tigerclaw’s name made no sense lmao, how do the forest cats know what tigers are????
Yeah the Tiger/Lion/LeopardClan stuff always fringed into unbelievability for me, especially when you take into consideration the canon presented in DOTC. You could always say they picked up the mythos from kittypets or whathaveyou, but for such seemingly pervasive mythology it's never brought up in the mainline books (outside of the temporary Clan namings at the end of TPB), only the guidebooks.
... This is actually making me think about WC paganism now that I'm remembering that. Maybe it was a religious practice that died out or something... idk lol ^^;;
Anyways you're totally right, even if we ignore the presented mythos they still shouldn't really know those words.
@@elokin300 Apparently they know about what Leopards and Lions are as well
11:28 for this I used this for a lot of my ocs!
I love naming Warrior cats. My favorite names I've come up with for OCs are Moongaze, Firefoot, Gemshine, Fawnspots and Otterdapple.
Yesss haha thank you!!! It irritates me also lmaoo
Anyways, loved your video and how you went into such depth with the naming system…it’s low key inspiring me to make some new generators and names haha.
i love this video so much rlly got me thinking about my old warrior cats ocs again.
for me it reawakened old, forgotten memories of a handwritten fanfiction I made, full of ocs. interesting times
I have this game with myself where I try to make the longest warriors name I can (syllable-wise) that still sounds good, because I am mad about the people who name their warriors things like "seaturtlesmile" and "odysseykindling" (both real names I have seen)
So far, the longest I've gotten is six syllables with Alligatorthicket and Dandelionfeather! I think they sound alright!
I wanna get to seven syllables eventually but it'll be hard, I'd need a four syllable prefix and a three syllable suffix (I'm considering -wanderer but not sure what prefix to pair it with lol)
I don't think I could get eight syllables to sound good but I'd be interested to try!
also, just for fun, but here's some of my favorite warrior names I have encountered that I genuinely like! (I also have a list of ones I think are funny but idk lol):
-Foxtongue
-Rattledance
-Bearwatcher
none of these are my characters but they're just... such good names, particularly Rattledance and Foxtongue imo
Love the names shellheart and grasswhisker . So cute
this is quite helpful as a young writer trying to start a warriors story :o i’m a bit worried about overusing ‘extravagant’ words, but that might just be more because of my general vocabulary, not because of thesaurus, so i’ll start attempting to use simpler terms i can think of :D (basically reverse the goal of thesaurus users, lol) thank you for posting this!
Bumblebee
Tell me a good name for an alley clan cat I’m taking that no one else is allowed to use it lol
I remember writing a background character in the spinoff of my fanfic named Weaslestride and even though I killed him off real quick, I’m obsessed with him now
He was always late, but strutted around like he owned the world, hence the suffix “stride”
Other names I had were “Newtspot” “Foxfoot” “Mapleclaw” “Rosebloom” and “Thunderstrike”
One of my favourite silly names was when my friend named his role play character “Hawkeye”
It makes me giggle now
Garfield is a completely valid warrior name, with a prefix of "gar" (the fish) and ofc the suffix "field". and the only rank itd sound kind of weird in is the leader rank bc both "gar" and "star" both contain the "ar" sound in the same spot.
and no i am not original in saying this i took it from a textpost
OK BUT Bitterpetal is actually a pretty good name
also tumblr user Bonefall created a conlang (clanmew) for warrior cats that does a good job of making you think about the meaning of your cats name!
If Gar are a fish is Garfield a proper warrior name
The perfect riverclan cat name
I have a warriors oc named “Wandering’trail” who is easily distracted and will just sorta walk off if not reminded to focus.
This video pleases both my ears and my mind the way this naming system works is something I’ll be using for all my ocs.
Can you review some of my cat names?
Silentsong - black and white tom, loud and spikey, likes to yell his opinion to the crowd, yet he went though a lot of trauma when he was a kit, loosing his mother (named in RiverClan)
Lightningheart - Calico she-cat, waited for her friends to pass their assessment before becoming a warrior, cares about everyone in her clan (SkyClan)
Duskpool - Brown and black she-cat, medicine cat who is kind yet playful, (My clan, FireClan, they live underground)
Blackmoon - half black half white tom, mysterious and likes to keep to the shadows, has very few friends and prefers to be alone (ThunderClan)
Your artstyle is so fun to look at is just so ✨️ ✨️
Not able to watch it currently but I will definitely watch it later.
How would you rate Mothflare’s name?
Thanks, it's super appreciated!!
I think of mothflare as a moth flaring their wings
Fun fact:Don’t know your clan characters personality to name them like it yet? Use clan development by saying at this time they use appearance over personality for naming!
24:25 this particular name generated a very clear idea for a character based on an inversion of Dancerain: Flamedance. I might make a whole oc from this thought alone
I would absolutely be interested in hearing about your roleplay in detail, no matter how long that video might be
still extremely proud of my main stinky boy, Clayslip.
his father, Mosspelt, was deputy of Willowclan all the way until he reached his elder years, and Claypaw always wanted to follow in his pawsteps. before his warrior ceremony, Claypaw tried to prove himself to his father and their leader that he would be a worthy deputy - and he did something extremely reckless. he lured a fox into camp and fought it off, all in order to impress the leader. however, the plan backfired, and Driftstar saw a darkness in Claypaw - a hint of envy and foolhardyness, traits that told her he would not be a worthy deputy. during his naming ceremony, Claypaw is named Clayslip - as opposed to the name he was supposed to receive, Claystripe.
I want to be part of Ally clan so badly
Oooh this is cool! It's been a while since i've made Warriors OC, but here some of my old names
Foxleap -
Fox, because shes fox coloured, leap because in her backstory, she was raised fighting other cats and her signature move was jumping over her enemy to attack from behind.
Willow grove -
Literally just a name i made up for a random pretty cat i drew.
Sandybreeze-
A sweet fluffy yellowy coloured cat.
Bird feather-
Anxious deputy, blue gray with one white paw and soft flowing fur, the feather was because he caught a small bird when he was a young kit as an act of defiance (he wanted to be an apprentice)
Hazel star-
Hazel coloured leader, strong personality, kind. Overall a very good leader.
Here are some others that i thought of while watching this
Hollowcough, Frostform, Bitterwind, Scarsetuft, ScreechingNettle, Softbrush, Rosedawn, Sunfrost, Snakerattle
I am using Brokenlight
I have a special system where the clan cats are named after adverbs/verbs as their warrior names ex: my oc Luminous’Papillon. They were originally named “Luminous’Kit” and got the name from a kittypet who understood French. The naming system is generally backwards, with the suffix being given first and the prefix (typically an adverb) given after!
Some other examples:
Evening’Kit -> Evening’Shadow/Evening’Star
Shimmering’Kit -> Shimmering’Crane
Clouded’Kit -> Clouded’Mind
Fogged’Kit -> Fogged’Heart
Shrouded’Kit
Some of my favorite OC names I've come up with are
Wildpad, a kittypet turned warrior, tends to volunteer for patrols
Spiderhound, no real reason for the spider other than one freaking out the med cat apprentice during kitting, but she is the clan's best tracker
Sneezeblood, very sneezy kit who got sick often, she's got unusual red striping and she's a medicine cat. Her forepaws are also red, kinda looks like blood if you don't know it's her actual color lol
Aridsun, he was born during a drought, has light cream pelt
Echotail, has two tails
Blacklight, for the meme of it, but also she's a dark tortie with very vibrant blue/violet eyes
Honeymumble, golden she-cat, very shy
Wolfdart, her father was killed by a wolf, very fast B3
That's a lot... xD
I have learned so much about poetry and writing from this video. It is truly amazing how you describe words.
What I don’t understand about Blackstar is that he had to be named Blackkit and Blackpaw before his name actually made sense and referenced specifically his Black-foot. So did his mom just hope that would eventually be his warrior name??? 😂
5:54 I feel the same and I'm so glad someone is saying it
So many times I've seen cats with the prefix kingfisher and it just makes the name a mouthful
3:19 - perfect example of a disclaimer for opinios, beutifully executed
uber cool vid! i just got back into wc so its nice to see that the fandoms still here.
anyways its time to make 100 cat ocs that i will never use
I’m gonna unironically use Grockable now it’s such a good word
My oc is named Sunspot, she’s cream with orange patches, very passionate, kind, outgoing, and has a bit of a temper. I also love Sunspeckle.
I put this on to give my brain something to do while drawing a forest fire which is . . . super duper repetitive and u stay stuck on the same step/layer for ages XD
Anyway, I found it to be just the thing because it's very engaging and interesting! I find I always love hearing or reading about writing advice or literary analysis from people who at least have a decent grasp of what they are talking about. This brought up a lot of cool things that can definitely be applied in lots of different writing instances, even if one has nothing to do with the warriors fandom, lol.
1:49 I remember these .. a game like our current clangen was my DREAM 😭
Ahhh I loved this video! It touches on this topic perfectly, how is this not more popular?? New subscriber!
Great video!! And WOW, the art looks amazing!! Your style and OC are both so pretty and I'd love to be able to draw like you!!! :0
REVIEW HAREKIT AND FEATHERKIR PLEASE THEY R MY BABY OCD
I have pretty mixed feelings ab this video bc on the one hand i really hate when others dictate rules for how u should name ur own oc(though i understand this is just for fun) but also i agree w some of ur rules whole-heartedly!! I hate "traditional" naming and how limiting it is based on names in canon(most of which are quite boring ngl) but also i find it so fun to take into account the territory, personalities of parents or leaders, and skills the cat has when naming them(though my names due get repetitive after a while bc i have a habit of naming good mentors -path or -trail). Long names are also my love(throwback to that one oc i had named densukewatermelonvolcano(it was mostly a joke)) that u cannot take away from me but i understand when it gets confusing esp with compound words.
all that being said im interested in what u have to say ab some of my oc's names: Shadedpath, Copperhorse, Inkyswarm, Hearthscatter, Doesmoke, and Autumnflood
ik thats a lot of names, those are the ones i just think demonstrate the way i name ocs the best.
Ok that art is beautiful but I must say just YES
I entirely agree with (most) of these ideas, I myself am not very good with my words but I wholeheartedly feel like almost everything said here is what I would’ve if I had the time/script/etc…
And completely fair on the whole ‘less into controversy’ thing, personally I agree that it can be anxiety inducing and either way you’re very well spoken.
…and yes I *will* be taking into account your name review offer hello there
I’m personally less into warrior cats outside of reading-wise, but I have this old character I used to work on in a like ‘in the future’ thunderclan setting based(very, very loosely) off of another fan story that I read a total of one page of..
Oh Jesus this is really long help 💀
Sorry bout that 😭
Thank you so so much!!
@@sunstartle Oh yeah honestly the division between the male and female names never really was noticed by me so I went with the more soft thing lol
But honestly it’s ok! I actually do feel like a good amount of those fit really well too I’ll probably experiment with a few of them to see how I like them :00
I'm not really an active participant in the warriors fandom anymore, but I held on to one name that I have always loved.
PuddleJump
I never even used it on any character because I loved it so much.
Is no one gonna talk about how good her art is-
14:48 Thrumpaw -> Thrumswallow (invokes imagery of birds singing) or Thrumthroat could be good names that are evocative of personality :3
throwing my hat in the ‘rate my cat’ ring:
- Roseleaf, a kind medicine cat who happens to be a little overprotective
- Chirpsong, a mischievous, brash, and leaderly cat
- Waspwing, a quiet cat who can be very intense at times
- Hornetsting, an energetic cat who isn’t afraid to speak their mind
- Beemutter, a shy cat who can be very talkative once you get to know them
- Swallowswoop, a courageous and helpful cat
- Fogwisp, a drifting cat who has experienced abuse and tragedy
- Murkpool, a daring cat who’s never afraid to dip into the murkiest pools
- anddd Lakeflame, a kindly old cat who dreams of adventure
I have a clan with some friends where (most of) the characters are named after types of tea!
Some of my favorites are:
ChaiStar
SenchaWhisper
MintBreeze
BobaPaw
EarlGaze
Alot of those wouldn't make sense in a normal warrior cats setting but it was really fun coming up with names with a theme, even if many of them wouldn't make sense to a canon cat
These are so cute. They could work as a cat that used to be a kittypet that decided to keep their name.
