- Cat genetics are my passion, but designing 66 kitten characters for the Warrior Cats-based roleplay that I help run was quite the challenge, to say the least. Come, join me on my journey of self discovery (I discovered that I dislike designing red cats), and who knows -- maybe you'll learn a thing or two!

Otherwise, which design is looking to be your favorite? I personally can't decide which one of them MOST resembles the moon...
there was one thing, abyssinians and somalis are actually black-based! they have something called roufosing, which makes them look red, but theyre genetically black!

for the charcoal pattern its an agouti gene and can be either heterozygous or homozygous! the homozygous form is called twilight charcoal, but when paired with a nonagouti/solid cat it becomes midnight charcoal! midnight charcoal cats tend to have a larger, thicker and darker colour of 'charcoal' going down their back and are usually greyer (since most/all charcoal cats are black based), while the twilight charcoal cats tend to have a more faded back with a less distinct thick stripe and can be more brown instead of grey!

I’m pretty sure that black tabbies look like solid black cats, maybe a very dark brown or gray in the not striped areas, but usually the stripes can only be seen in the sun. If you just want to draw them as brown with black stripes since you don’t like drawing solid cats as much go for it, I don’t care.
My favorite had to be the one you made throughout the video it’s BEAUTIFUL and also technically the last one I like these cats story and their kittens designs!

i actually really like the way you explain them and give helpful examples. its a much easier way for me to graps something i find interesting and cool but don't seem to actually have the mind to wrap around when i try to read text about it
plus getting to look at cute art the whole time helps a lot

I also like the word moon. I made it a bit of a legacy name in my OC story, with Poison-moon, Moon-berry, and Moon-whisper. Moon-berry was named after Poison-moon since her dad was training with Poison-moon in the dark forest and wanted to name one of his daughters after her. Moon-whisper was named after Moon-berry since Moon-berry is her aunt that everyone thinks is dead.
whenever i design cat ocs i dont look into genetics but its rlly cool to see how much thought goes into actually genetically designed cat ocs

i(cat genetics enthusiast that i am) HATE when people use cat breeds the way they use dog breeds. like. no. the vast majority of cats arent a breed and you cant compare them and its so much more complicated than that please...
ESPECIALLY when people just call colorpoint siamese same with mink & sepia. theres a DIFFERENCE between a cat who expresses the colorpoint gene, and a cat who is a breed standard siamese.
edit; also i LOVE the naming conventions in sumire's blessings and ive been eying up the group for a bit so if i have time.. i may finally read the lore and throw in an application
YES THANK YOU!! YOU GET IT!! Oh my GOD it absolutely drives me up a WALL istg... it's sooo bad on instagram too if I see one more person say their randombred cat is a Siamese mix I fear I might lose it altogether. It's definitely the worst with colorpoints but I've seen people saying their regular ticked tabbies are Abyssinian mixes and... buddy, no.

I have a kitten that is a grey tabby and tortoise shell and she has three other brothers that have the same markings as her so all of them have tortoise shell markings :)

I will hopefully get a chance to draw another one of your characters this year, and I'm glad I stumbled apon your channel :)
listen, I adore with so much of my heart 110 in the design bank. I do not know what in my lil goblin activated when I saw them, but I do know I would give that boi my house if he asked, alas my writing and roleplay skills have suffered in the past few years. So I prob won't be applying but world building is super interesting! I really enjoyed reading thought the _113 pages_ of plot.

these designs are all so pretty.. im still learning to design (particular trouble with tabbies waa) but seeing you make all of these so beautiful and distinct with just color is very inspiring!! i also love cat genetics and genetically correct kitty families so this video really is perfect for my brain. i don’t know anything about the roleplay or the stories but it sounds really interesting ! :)

- bimetallic! its gold/silver on the same cat, right? sort of! the gold in bimetallic is related more to siberian sunshine than the 'actual golden shaded gene' because they are more related to the corin gene mutation. love myself bimetallics. they are soo interesting to me and like two other people. same with cameos. love those freaks

Anyhow I had a few questions, I am really struggling with figuring out how to study cats and remember the anatomy. I really don't want to learn muscle groups as I feel there's not enough reliable ones on cats for me to study. Should i just focus on shapes, shapes, shapes?
I just wanna draw cats stylized from memory but it's a struggle when I don't know what to do to study them in general. How did you learn?

You have to apply for the roleplay, but it’s not guaranteed you’ll get one! If you do get accepted into the roleplay, then you get one of the designs as your character.

HAHA SORRY SORRY -- I think its cause I watch all RUclips videos at x2 speed so I just talk like that naturally oops 💀If its hard to understand the words (I know I'm not the most articulate speaker...) I tried the auto-sync subtitle thing and fed my script into it, so that maybe should be easier for the words to be understood?
Alternatively, you could try listening to it on x2 speed to overload your brain to the point it becomes unusable. I don't know why you would want to do that, but it's always an option!

Actually certain cats do have blue eyes like my cat not all do but some do
cats can have blue eyes! she said that because eye color is strongly tied to coat colors/patterns, so it doesn't always make sense for certain designs to have blue eyes!
