      Or just also punish the person who is Duo queuing with the person who left. It’s that simple. If you are pairing up with someone who’s gonna give you an advantage for match making because they are at your same skill level to climb, then you should also know that they can cost you games by leaving matches that will cost your elo as well because you paired with them in the first place.

      Just make it so that the people queued with the person who left (and the person themself of course) still lose SR, but the randoms don't.
      Or at the very least make the length of the DC determine how much SR loss is reduced. For example, if they joined back after a minute maybe you'd lose 20% less SR (only applies to the randoms) and if it took them 6 minutes you lose 60% less SR, because the DC had a larger impact on the loss.

    For SR forgiveness
    -Have it not work if the leaver is in your party (even if he leaves the party mid game)
    -Have it not work in top 500 or even in gm
    -If it leads to dogpiling in your weakest link, have it not negate the loss, but reduce SR loss instead so you still got something to lose

      Bro if a guy leaves mid match (like after 2 minutes) no loss prevent its supposed to be for matches that have an afk like 30 second into the game (never played ranked specifficaly in ow BTW so i dunno if it already does that)

    I like the sigma tip about blocking a sniper's line of sight. Space wise, it's the difference between creating a small space for you and your team to huddle around, or completely denying the damage on to you and your team.

    Ball has a very low skill floor, but also an extremely high ceiling. It wasnt asking who is hardest to learn, it was asking who is hardest to master, which are two very different questions.

      I agree with you here, I think flats misunderstood. I'd love to see more people master ball but it just isn't happening. I also think he's not taking into consideration the usage of advanced tech and grapple placements for the highest value in each map. Besides echo, who requires knowledge of all characters, I couldn't think of a single character with a higher skill ceiling than ball.

      Yeah, ball is easy to use, but extremely hard to master, you have to learn the best grapple points of certain maps, several difficult techs, and have a great game sense. Not to mention every character in the dang game has something to somewhat counter ball excluding like 2 characters. I think Flats just didn't understand.

      if they do that they need to make disconnecting and power going off detection system , it won't be fair if 3 friend got huge sr L because of their friend power just decided to go off in middle of game
      it will also make people with bad internet lose hope jn finding good friend for comp because every one will bully them if their connection decided to fuck with them

    With regards to the Tracer/Ana mastery thing, I can absolutely guarantee that what said about Ana can be also applied to Tracer. To be a true master of her you need to cover a lot of bases really well, but you can also particularly in lower ranks be a force to be reckoned with just by existing. Just taking an enemy's attention by pissing around in the backline can create so many openings for wins with zero mechanics since she can abuse her tiny hitbox and lower ranks (typically) lower mechanical skill

    To explain the "Blue Lock"comment:
    Blue Lock is a very popular soccer anime currently airing. The premise of the show is that in order to be the top player in the world, you have to learn how to play for your own ego and goals rather than focusing on team play or being overly-reliant. The protagonist of the show, Isagi, learns how to utilize bad teammates (something the show calls "Devouring") by using those teammates to take enemy attention off of him so that he can make good plays himself and score. That's basically what the vid creator did when "baited" his Rein to act as a distraction for him while he continued killing the enemy team from high ground.
    The comment making the comparison was still dumb, but hopefully this explains what the "point" of it was.

    Possible solution for the Duo queue is the Duo split the L. If someone in your group leaves the Drop is spread along the group those not linked dont get the problem.
    Im not sure whether a 5 minute pause is also another idea to float, since Ive been dropped from a game and it was the first time for me, I didnt see how to rejoin at first, I did find it and make it back. But this was after trying to requeue for awhile and it telling me I couldnt because I was doing the wrong thing. I got back 2 minutes into our push, went to win within 30 seconds.

      Honestly I don’t even think it should split the L. Give equal amounts to both, mostly cuz I don’t see a situation where your duo leaves and it wasn’t a thing you both agreed on

IMO, I think it’s way too easy to tell when a disconnection happens to just have it report it to blizzard immediately so it doesn’t send a ban to you, unless it’s repetitive. Like if you lose connection mismatch, have it store that data client side. Then when the connection returns, publish that data directly

    Regarding the "baiting" tiktok, honestly, the comment had a point. He didn't "bait" his teammate. Rather, his tip has more to do with game sense and target priority. When I think about baiting my teammates, I'm trying to use them to either make the enemy waste an ability and/or ult on them so that I can make plays. Like playing as Kiriko and slightly playing off-position away from teammates in the hope that a Rein will try to ult so they can teleport onto and suzu their team. If you're going to "bait" teammates, you're consciously putting said teammates into a disadvantage position in the hopes that the enemy team will do something to them to which you can immediately react to.

    Widow should get a change where 175 damage is instantly delt and the rest comes through in the form of venom from her mine type damage. This would allow some counter play, be interesting for Widow hitting body shots to stack the effect on tanks, and overall be less annoying. She would probably need to have her health increased from the 175 it is now but the idea of widows being able to still one shot each other interests me. You could also adjust her ult and maybe make up the venom damage is increased or ticks faster during it.

    On the topic of SR forgiveness and dogpiling the "shit" player to try and get them to leave, none of these issues would even be a thing if the game just prioritized individual performance more then it does. If how much mmr or sr or whatever you lose was more determined by how well or poorly you play in a game, it would result in a lot less of that giving up mentality of "oh well this games already fucked run the next one". Whereas instead there's still a chance you, individually, could pop off and still get something out of it, or at least not lose as much.
    this would also help to encourage everyone in the game to still try and play there best rather then just fucking around or giving up halfway through since one player is getting diff'd or whatever. Everyone would still have incentive to play there best and care about the game, outside of the slim chance of victory.

      in a perfect world? yeah you solved that. but how do you rate each player against everyone else on the lobby when they are playing different characters to each other and also multiple characters in the same round. In practice is not doable. Id say it would be nice if they add a bonus SR based on performance, something small that just makes a loss hurt less or a win and bit sweeter. it would give some agency but it can't be the sole arbiter of sr gain/loss.

      @@damp2269 See I do agree, that's the hard part, finding out which metrics to be used if we are moving away from strictly wins and loses being the major determining factory.
      I'm not going to claim to have all the answers on this system of only thought about a few times, but I do think it has potential if we can figure out what those new metrics of performance should be.
      I'd say a good start however is if a game is incredibly close, all the stats are basically even, the game is decided by 1 fight in overtime, I dont think that losing team should be punished as hard as a team that barely put up a fight (Assuming the reason for that isnt massive mmr disparities and the teams are of reasonably comparable skill levels). I do feel as though this would be a good place to start, that way you still have a reason to try your hardest, even if you don't win, since your teams performance can impact the amount of mmr you all lose.

      @@Liam-vb3xo agree that something that give each person more control over their gain/loss is great but the problem is that each character has a different criteria to playing it well, widow with a low dmg number is fine if she gets an early pick on most fights. Bastion with no kills might seem sus but then you see he is breaking rein shield every time and making his life hell, and mei might have just a few kills but has been harassing tank and support with slow or just getting crazy value walls.
      I really hope they do something with it but I'm not bothered if they don't because it's a very difficult thing to do. also it's really not preventing you from progressing so much as just slowing you down. If you play good, regardless of bad teammates or uneven matchmaking eventually you will climb.

    Halo Infinite’s SR loss is a great way to go about it. If a player disconnects before the “halfway” point the rest of the team losses only a small amount. Now League of Legends has a good solution for the duo situation, if your duo disconnects then BOTH players get hit with the same elo penalty.

    I do agree that Widow is a massive issue, the ability to one shot someone from 9 miles away is incredibly infuriating in any video game, but some of those clips were just a skill issue.

    is ram actually a good counter to zarya? i feel like i get rolled everytime i go against her, but maybe that’s because i started playing at the start of season 2 of ow2 and i don’t have enough matchup experience

      You nailed it saying the second part, a good tip for countering zarya is keeping an eye on her bubble, she can only keep 2 and depending on how they fight they could potentially have 3 bubbles based on timing and how far they space em apart. Its good to try and engage her after her first bubble and commit on her when she pops her second bubble as shes defenseless after that. Also its a good idea to try and estimate her damage by trying to keep truck of whats hit her and guessing her charge. I don't play ram but he's good consistent damage with good survivability plus you can find ways to take advantage of his punches that travel through walks so he seems like a decent pick against her as he can pressure her. im sure you know this but its not the best to tank v tank in a lot of situations unless you're cleaning up and the fights in your favor or someone's hitting your backline and you can pull back for them to help if you have the chance. Could be completely wrong for ram but it applies to most tanks. Im not that far up so it'd be best to find a guide all the same. Hope this helped a little though and its not completely wrong lmao

      as long as your team doesn’t shoot her bubbles, a low-charged Zarya is essentially a throw pick, he’s one of the only tanks with a shield and she can’t keep up with Annihilation

      In low elo? Lol no because people love to shoot her bubbles. Especially Bastion players. Just play Rein in that match up because even if she's fully charged you can put out more damage and your shield is really good at blocking her attacks

      hello i am gm ramattra and here is my opinion
      zarya cannot pressure ram at all with barrier or nemesis form, if she is high charge she will win the trade during nemesis and force him to block, but with low charge she cannot do anything vs barrier or nemesis form
      farming charge before re-engaging might work, but its slow and i do not see it. the way a zarya usually beats ram is if he makes a mistake

    I feel like the sr loss idea could work in a certain way. Instead of not losing any sr, maybe reduce the amount lost based on how many more people they have. If they have one more, you lose 75% of what you would normally. They have two more, you lose 45% of the normal amount; they have three, you lose 15%. The only time I'd consider not losing any sr to be in the cases where you're the only one left and they have a full team, because unless you're a t500 Ball main smurfing in bronze or something, you're guaranteed to struggle at least a little bit.
    Also, to clarify, if you would normally lose 30 sr, you would lose 23 if you were down by one, 14 if you were down by two, 5 if you're down by three, and none if you're down by four. Of course, the numbers could definitely use tweaking, but I'm not a dev. It's just a rough idea for something that a lot of people wouldn't mind being implemented when they have a leaver, making the loss a little less harsh if it ends up happening repeatedly.

    The thing about the sr forgiveness is it only affects those that were randomly put into the game. If you were teamed up with the leaver you would get penalized too which i consider to be fair

    in League of Legends there is "loss mitigation" where if someone leaves the game you only lose -3 or so LP (league equivilant of SR.) but they have to have been gone for a substantial amount of time, like if they left with only 1-2 minutes left you probably won't and if you died a lot you might still lose a good amount. as far as im aware if you are partied with the leaver you don't get the loss mitigation but you don't get the penalty where you'll gain less your next 3 games.

    To fix the boosting issue of not losing SR if someone leaves a match could be if you're In a group you give anyone in the group gets the SR penalty then the person who left gets the potential timeout penalty

    It's probably possible to work around the scenarios where the SR forgiveness can be abused but would take a good amount of work. Maybe they can experiment on the card with players to get data.

    Yeah, it's not great when you have to hope that you have a Widow swap that can at least keep theirs at bay because that's probably the only real option available and lots of maps, even fan favorites, are perfect for Widow.

    A widowmaker fix could be reducing her damage so her full charge body shot does 125 and head does 250(doesn't change much tho)
    a one shot fix could be giving characters helmets like apex so basically if u are a character that is under 200 hp you have a 50% headshot dmg reduction, if ur max health is 200-250 the reduction could be 33% and for 300hp characters the reduction could be 25% and no reduction for above 300hp. The reduction values might not be balanced but a similar concept like this might work for example tank has 25% headshot reduction while others have 10% . for example in non role queue junkerqueen gets a 25% head shot reduction even though she is tank but ball(550hp) doesn't get the reduction.

    give widow a dot that finishes enemies off instead of the one shot kill. then if she hits someone out of position or without a healer nearby same effect and you have counterplay of healing yourself. give it a bit more damage than it currently has with this dot so the supports have to actively heal them.
    her character is based off a venemous spider and she only has one thing in her kit that is actually reminiscent of the spider and its a low damage basic sniper trap. the venom is what kills people not the bite of the spider (although the black widow only kills 4-8 people per year) they don't kill you instantly. they are actually pretty chill in their space if you respect them. maybe give the dot to her secondary fire as well to a lesser extent (or let each instance increase the duration of the poison) but that way when she gets run down she can spray and then use her escape and if she hit them enough times they succumb to the poison she injected them with.

    If your team starts to bully you, just leave team chat, and hang out until the end of the match.

    Sr forgiveness seems to only cover you for three matches to prevent you from dropping when you reach a new tier

    the sr forgiveness thing could just implement valorants system. If someone in the group leaves the val game and you guys remake for instance you all take a penalty so whether five stack or duo'ed simple fix should be obvi tbh

      i have had 3 leavers on a single night too... as much as I hate it, SR forgiveness would just make it worse. more incentive to leave or being an ass to people to make them leave. I just tell myself that the leavers are in my pool so, sooner or later they will be on the other side of the match.

    I think a decent counter to exploiting the SR-Forgiveness is monitoring the amount of leaves in a group, so for example. If person A (being boosted) is in a group that with person B (on multiple accounts), and lets call that group 'Group A', if group A is responsible for leaving a lot of matches then the group gets a penalty (so even if Person B goes on multiple accounts it won't matter because it's a group penalty), meaning that Person A loses SR for being part of Group A, which is responsible for a large number of abandons, so the way to try exploit that is not queueing up together and hoping to get with eachother, but that'd be unlikely, meaning Person A has to play a legitimate match or take an SR penalty, forcing them to play legitimately

    To solve boosting you can either make it so it effects parties as a whole so if one person inna party leaves then they all get a sr penalty which will save the solos queuing with them or make it only apply up until a certain rank, or both.
    As for players being ganged up on, they just need to report them like with all things, regardless if they implement this system or not, those toxic interactions will happen and I think the pros outweigh the cons on this one since while recently grinding my tank up I had players leave 4 separate times with in like 15 games and I've been stuck silver 1 all night due to this when I got my dps from plat to diamond in the same time and I know I'm at least gold or plat on tank just all that time feels wasted now, and with how the ranking system works now it makes it feel really terrible. One single leaver makes 4 won games feel wasted.

    I think with the sr forgiveness, if someone in your group leaves, the whole group loses sr for a loss, while anyone outside the group does not. That might make it a bit easier to prevent the whole dodging on purpose while playing on an alt in an uncarryable game.

    Easy fix for the SR thing is just have both people in the premade lose the SR for the one person leaving (I know it punishes actual unintentional DCs but this is a scenario where the SR loss reduction is in effect)

    If someone leaves the match and the player does not come back on 5 minutes, the match is anulated and you can go out without repercussions, the leaver is sent to a separate ranked Q with just quitters and reported players, and he has to win 10 matches to get to the regular open Q again, if he leaves or is reported again , another 10 wins... thats true EloHell , thats the dream.

    Some fixes to the SR forgiveness problems:
    Make it so if someone in a duo (or more) leaves, his entire group also receives the penalty.
    Make it be a once in a while thing, since leaving is so rare. Maybe this effect can only trigger once every week or so?
    Biggest problem I see is the rank inflation which does NOT have a fix. If the enemy team still gains SR from the win, they’ll go up in rank without taking that SR from the enemy. Rank inflation overtime. If you *don’t* make them still gain SR, you’ll just get people leaving games on purpose to rob a team of SR out of salt.
    My opinion: It’s fine the way it is. It sucks to have leavers but it’s rare, and you can just go by law of averages here. Sometimes, you’ll lose SR unfairly because of a leaver, but other times, you’ll gain it unfairly due to an enemy leaver. Play enough games and it’ll even out.

    4:18 Riot actually has a couple solutions for this exact problem. 1. You can’t duo past diamond. 2. You don’t get LP protection if the player that left is your duo.
    There could still be some situations where GM friends will find eachother by chance and take one for the team, but that’s not a reliable or super exploitable strategy.
