8:00 What’s sad is how much flaming the support guy was doing against the tank while in the clip that was shown the orisa fortified and walked in front of her to make sure the Ana doesn’t get pinned after the rein shattered her

exactly what I noticed like that was a good play from them. Was hard to watch them complain yet they were maybe not the problem, but they weren't exactly contributing the most even the echo seeing the mercy wasn't with them should have preemptively anticipated they would need heals. type of player that would just sit on ana and blame everyone else when maybe they try a different healer and it would work better for that comp.

I think a lot of supports need to realize LOS is their issue 9/10
Like sure if I over push or put myself around a corner that's my fault but if I'm just out in the open and the support can't see me because they're on one of the flanks and theirs an LOS block thats a support issue they need to move I'm doing my thing like normal I can't see when they don't see me I can just assume based on my own positioning.

If you get los'd every now and then, unlucky it happens, you lost that fight because of it don't think about it and get ready for the next fight. If you get los'd all the time then it's 100% your own fault your positioning is garbo and you need to work on it.

While this is fitting for a perspective of an Overwatch player, I don't necessarily see it as reflective of competitive FPS as a whole. While yes, Overwatch takes a long time to properly 'get good' at, this is due to the hero shooter design.
Overwatch relies on you learning heroes and their unique playstyles which is going to be exhausting, but a game like CS:GO doesn't necessarily have that requirement for getting good. Only certain weapons require specific spray control and sniping isn't exactly super unique.
Even for Rainbow Six and Valorant, two other hero shooters, the reliance is still on aiming skill as well as general game sense. Valorant has a bit more required knowledge for learning specific character abilities, but overall it is still pretty similar to Counter Strike. For Rainbow Six, map knowledge and game flow sense trumps anything else and that doesn't require studying the pros to figure out.
Overwatch is just particularly difficult to learn uniquely because the heroes are all each incredibly unique in playstyle. Not all of the heroes even have a gun that shoots, and those that do are split up into categories of what kind of projectiles they even use. And with all the abilities flying around and being applied and taken off, Overwatch is simply just not an easy game to get into. I simply see it as Overwatch players just assuming these other games having huge skill gaps and immense depth that simply just doesn't exist in these other games.

@@AstinCrowthe issue with that is that aim/mechanical skill is 1000x harder to perfect than learning a matchup or character abilities in any game
character abilities and their most influential aspects are easy to notice off a glance since you see them be get used and see the influence they have first hand
lesser abilities you'll probably notice the effects of but might have to look at the character description to find out what it does
nuanced details of abilities will be hard to notice but it only takes a couple searches to understand what's happening with the ability you're confused about
for example let's take viper from valorant
it's very obvious that viper's toxic screen is one of her most influential abilities as you have ample warning where it is and it's extremely obvious what it does, her poison cloud and snake bite might take a bit to understand but once you know that the cloud is a smoke grenade and the bite is a molotov it's very easy to understand what they do, then you can look up viper's wiki page to find out that people who walk into your snake bite get inflicted with vulnerable meaning they take more damage while it's active making you understand that it's less of a passive damage source and is more impactful for you to follow up on
now there's aiming which in itself is a hard skill to learn since everyone has a unique aim style and some aiming types will be easier to grasp than others depending on it (projectiles vs hitscan mainly), aiming itself requires you to have the right mindset, good hand-eye coordination and different parts of aiming need to be used in every situation depending on positioning/game sense and the person you're shooting at
for example if you're that same viper player and you're preparing to push onto a site from the low ground you'll have to start off clearing your corners and flicking to common holding areas, then you'll have to hold while the spike gets planted testing your reaction speed to see if you'll be able to shoot the person trying to retake before they shoot you, then once you've planted you can take the high ground making you have to focus more on the height of your crosshair so you don't accidentally shoot over their head while trying to keep your crosshair head height, then a jett dashes past the door you're holding making you have to track where she went to finally kill her
tldr: abilities are easier to learn since they rarely ever change but aiming is a basic skill that changes from situation to situation and mastering it is a night and day difference compared to mastering matchups vs abilities/characters

That last bit about ranked is why I’m taking my time climbing, just learning the ropes. I’m determined to maintain my status as a OTP, even if I can’t get to top 500. For me, the challenge is going to be getting as high as I can…and then pushing that as best as I can until I get higher. I know I could be going into bad matchups, and I know that I might lose a lot of games. But the only way for me to make playing ranked fun is to just play the character that I like, go up against poorly matched odds, and maybe even come out on top a handful of times.

As a support main if you have chosen a character that can heal over a distance then there's no reason outside of rotation for team los or being pushed off that you should not be on highground.
It solves alot of los problems over small walls and obstacles. Obviously if they're fighting inside some building you probably should avoid that cluster truck of a wreck and fire from outside the door as much as possible. I hate getting stuck inside buildings cause a few stray anything hits the supports inside a building brawl will end that teamfight pretty quick.
Honestly outside of a tank going a mile into the enemy, dps thinking they're tanks and pushing a mile past our tank or the team not waiting to regroup and let the supports get out of spawn to catch up I can usually find a path around most wall issues by posting up somewhere high. Even if that means jumping just to make the heals hit the team that's at least more helpful than being on low grounds.
If you're playing a closer support then usually los shouldn't be too bad because you're in it with them. Like Lucio wall riding in and around the fight, Brig usually can weave in and out, Moira only has orb to long distance heal so she's usually good to play in the middle ground and escape, ect.
Pick highground for longer distance play or play midground with the other characters.
LOS really sucks if they're pushing in without thought. Like I probably wouldn't have pushed so hard in if I was that Orisa after losing a dps unless I was confident on securing an equal kill but you could've been on highground and been nading from behind there and helped them secure the kill. Sometimes getting the kill before healing your teammate is the better option. If they're dead they're not damaging your teammate and you can heal them immediately after.

In my opinion telling people to counter pick in bronze is terrible advice. Personally as someone who played 99% support (got to masters) but I was like silver DPS, because I never played it the key to actually ranking up was stopping trying to constantly counterpick and trying to play every hero and just learning a few specific hero's, I think a lot of low ranked players will just constantly be playing mystery hero and it doesn't help, youll learn a lot more my specialising in a few characters you like.

the real support advice: DO NOT CARE ABT EVERYONE ELSE. i do this too often, go out of my way to help a teammate who is making terrible decisions n end up dying for it with them. if they won’t make it so they can be healed then LET THEM DIE. usually you’ll help a teammate and they’ll just leave you to die anyway, so let them die and then try to enable their right decisions after next group up. good (or at least aware n aren’t twats) tanks & dps will get back into position or if they die they know it’s their fault.

Yeah but sometimes your tank goes 1v5 and is unaware everyone else is dead and they keep doing it over and over no matter how much advice you give them

I have an actual tip for mercy players from gold to bronze. If your team has a hitscan, or someone who flys stay with them. Trust your other support to keep up the tank for a decent bit of the fight. That will help your dps actually do their job. The amount of times ive seen yall pocket the tank is mind blowing only to start flaming the dps because they lost duels. Its your job to support them in those duels. If they are losing them, you hold half the responsibility in most cases.

I’ve only been playing overwatch since November 2020. I’m a support main and there’s just too much “noise” going on the entire game. Plus, I’m constantly getting qp lobbies where people feel the need to be toxic, for whatever reason.
I’ve switched over to valorant, and I’m really enjoying my time with it. There’s a lot less flashing lights

12:04 Truuuu - also really encouraging to try and be like good at a selection of games because even streamers and stuff really rarely are e.g. shroud was like gold in overwatch for a good amount of time, that's ignoring fighting games, racing games etc.

Can anyone explain? I used to only play Quick play and do very well majority of the time on DPS. Wanted to really try ranked and it’s been miserable! I do OK some games, sometimes bad but we just always lose. I don’t care to blame teammates but holy shit it’s so different makes me not want to play after a few games. Usually straight steam roll lose too 😢

I am playing against people who have been playing this game since i was playing minecraft on my dads old computer.

as someone who in the last few months has gone from bronze to plat If you are actually struggling to get out of bronze on tank become semi competent at
    orisa
    rein
    zarya
    dva
    and rog
and I can guarantee you a 65% win rate
walk out on orisa on most maps (zarya might be strongest rn but she's so boring. I never want to be the one to aggravate a zarya duel from the start.)
    map pick exceptions (numbani-dva illios(well)-rog)
IGNORE ULT CHARGE (except for dva bomb because that's a guaranteed 3k in bronze but in 85% of scenarios matchup is more important than ult economy for tanks because most tank ults suck anyway)
play orisa for rein rammy rog doom and queen
play rein for sig and zar
play zar for orisa, queen and dva
play dva for winston rog rein(play highground) orisa
finally rog is a last resort anti dive. If you are just getting absolutely rolled by a wreckingball or doomfist swap rog and just make it your lifes goal to stop them from leaving. don't bring them in you just save them a cooldown. stop their retreat and they just melt.
final note. in my mind the most important aspect of ranking up at a low level is figuring out who is beating you. your job isn't necessarily to 1v1 the tank. if they have a gengi that is wrecking your backlines then play rein or zar. stop the one that's beating you not the one in the same role as you

As I climb the ranks I am certain that it’s impossible to solo queue support to gm. I solo queued tank to gm in a few days as well as dps yet it’s been weeks and am still masters in support. I think support is the only role that can truly blame their teammates

Support is like dbd but they are actually the survivor, however, it’s a survivor sided season, and they’re entitled asf. Not to mention they’re super toxic.
And the best killers available is myers, trapper, and wraith (tank)

  • @cagxplays9602

If you're playing tank at a lower level, I would argue that you should just hold W no matter what, you can't rely on decent healing, so you shouldn't be relying on supports heavily. You will either walk in and roll, or you will fall over, but that's okay. Eventually you will learn where and when you should play aggressive, instead of being a meat shield standing in front of your dps hoping they kill something for you, never improving because you're trying to rely too heavily on your team. Tank does not mean stand there and eat damage, you are a dps with a heap of health, play like it. Also, if you see someone by themselves, that's your target now, end them or die trying and eventually you will learn which 1v1's you should be taking and when.

"As a tank player stop pulling me" thats terrible information. If they're doomfist probably dont go LW, because in any rank less than GM its a fine line between them inting or making a play. Most of the time its inting but they *will* get mad at you regardless.
That being said, just play kiriko lmao
