Ig: ryan_williams46 This a quickish overview of my k swapped mr2. I just wanted to show you guys the road so far and possibly updates for future mods to the car.
Interesting to see the full KSwap in detail, I have a Cannibal Kit swap in my car. So much space in an NA setup too, love the K. Think I should have covered that on my channel, but you did a good job here!
Great info!! Def helped a lot!!! As for your fuel setup your running a stock tank with the c5 fuel filter and a warboro 255, my main concern was fueling but seems simple
@@brandonuvinas yes they did, they made them auto in all 3 gens.I have one(SW21) I'm converting as well.Only the turbo 3SGTE models were manual only(E153),3SGE,3SFE,and 5SFE models could came with a the S54 5 speed,or the 4 speed auto.
If you look on your firewall, like many manufacturers, you'll see the mounting points/holes are still present, just plugged in by grommets etc.All you need is a donor car,and you'll be good to go!!
Yes, they will bolt straight on The only problem is the axle nut doesn't get as deep on the threads at th end of the axles. I believe it's flush or just before flush
Hux has the whole setup for 6 and a half, plug and play! Otherwise, get your green, and grey books, hes more or less covered the mods in vid pretty well I thought?
Cool stuff man. Rah? Debating to get a skyline gtr r32 while I do my time here in Okinawa japan. Or my other 2 options rebuild my k20/k24 all motor ep3 si and go turbo route. Or 3 save my money to do a crazy swap like this!
Seen a lot of people with mid engine chassis high hp turbo(mr2/nsx) go with water to air intercooling for over heating problems.. just adding more weight to the car imo. Its already 3,000lbs. Unless I gut it. My hatch is lighter but fwd. Trying to go rwd or awd. Evo would be nice
That’ll be cool. But they dont have awd support for ep3 that I heard of. Mostly on eg hatches. It would take a lot of craftsmanship to cut and install a rear diff into an ep3
93+ cars are alot easier. I had a 91 with a cable speedo. I had gotten a knock off R6 motorcycle cluster and was gonna wire that into the kpro. Then basically chop up the center section of the cluster and make it fit in between the fuel tank and volt meter
Run your heater hoses 180° back to the firewall and they plug right in. The heater hoses are two different sizes though. I think I got 6 foot of each and ended up cutting it down
old Errol a swap is worth it if you want to do it. What’s worth it to one person may not be worth it to another. IMO I’m a huge k series man but just upgrade your mr2 to a gen 4 3sgte find em for like a grand then build that and boost it. For probably the money you will buy the k alone for you’ll have the gen 4 3sgte boosted and laying down 300+ on stock ct26 turbo. Gen 4 is the caldina 3sgte.
The Hackjob no one said they wherent I’ve had type r k20s and 3sgtes. For the money ull spend on a good healthy k you can have a 3sgte built and upgraded already. 3sgte is a great little motor. Especially for the fact that they came out a decade before a k was ever in production.
The Hackjob you’re comparing early 90s engineering to early 2000s engineering. A decade of advancement has gone down in that time frame. No shit the k is superior. But you’re not getting the point. You’re not of them homos that just wanna swap any and everything and can’t keep classic cars somewhat original
I made a adapter line to mate the stock mr2 line to the k20 slave. Hux racing website covers the fitting you need but I just took the mr2 clutch line and k20 skave to a machine shop and had them make me a line with both sides

It's such a better set up than the 5s and loads more room. Thanks man!
Agree this was a fairly detailed "write up" on the overall process. I enjoyed watching it,nerd that I am 😬
Great info!! Def helped a lot!!! As for your fuel setup your running a stock tank with the c5 fuel filter and a warboro 255, my main concern was fueling but seems simple
Yeah, the hardest part is dropping the tank and putting it away. The parking brake cables need to come out of the way too
nice video with details! Im trying to k24 swap my 92 na, could i use the stock fuel pump? Cheers
Can you explain a little bit more the throttle body setup and the cable setup. I'm confused on which one to get
GREATTTT INFO!!! question, im looking at an AUTOMATIC NA Mr2, will the model being auto be an issue with swapping a manual k swap?
Theres the K20A3 (160hp) auto
Aside from sourcing the pedals, neutral safety switch, and adding the clutch hydrologic lines I don't think so
They never made an automatic second gen mr2
@@brandonuvinas yes they did, they made them auto in all 3 gens.I have one(SW21) I'm converting as well.Only the turbo 3SGTE models were manual only(E153),3SGE,3SFE,and 5SFE models could came with a the S54 5 speed,or the 4 speed auto.

Good tips so are you saying that integra axels are direct fit ?
For the n/a mr2's they are. I think it's 94-01 Integra axles that work
Yes, they will bolt straight on
The only problem is the axle nut doesn't get as deep on the threads at th end of the axles. I believe it's flush or just before flush
All b series axles are the same
@@jeremyhare9515 no they aren't 🤦🏻♂️
@@bobbybandz9194 nigga they run b series axles lol
Would you be able to do a wiring guide? I'm having trouble with mine
Unfortunately no, I ended up selling the car
@@lcplwilliamsryanm how much did you sell it for?

So what parts do I all need from a rsx?

Make your hatch a turbo awd. That would be plenty neat
That’ll be cool. But they dont have awd support for ep3 that I heard of. Mostly on eg hatches. It would take a lot of craftsmanship to cut and install a rear diff into an ep3
How did you sort out speedo and tachometer? Do they still work with the k swap?
Alot of people just use KPro and a tablet etc,or something a little more fancy like, say a CD7 etc etc
The cluster can be done though, just tedious, like all wiring lol
93+ cars are alot easier. I had a 91 with a cable speedo. I had gotten a knock off R6 motorcycle cluster and was gonna wire that into the kpro. Then basically chop up the center section of the cluster and make it fit in between the fuel tank and volt meter
Can you explain the wiring how to adapt the wiring or power the engine with stock Honda engine harness please
I used a stock harness and then bought a k tuned race harness to bridge the gap between the engine and car
@@lcplwilliamsryanm ok
I'm. Trying to find cheapest way to do it I have a rsx donor car too. Building k24 motor on side for boost
Whatever you do don't skimp out on wiring. I've had to redo mine 3 times trying to do it cheap
@@v8consumption wiring is one of those things,if you gotta ask, just buy lol. JMO
After figuring out all the glitches and what not, how reliable has the car been?
In it's current state it's been super reliable
There is any particular reason for not using the factory gas tank??
I used a factory tank with a drop in 255 pump. If they get moved it's usually to better distribute the weight of the car
What other options for axles for the 91 turbo mr2? Other than the $800 axles
Anthony Frank seen someone pressed the wheel hub/bearings to make it work
ruclips.net/video/3xAnTfDFHho/видео.html
There's a Facebook page "k and j swap the world" I know a couple of members have found alternative solutions there
the process about the same for the MR-S?
I believe it's a bit easier for wiring and shifter options but otherwise it should be
What did you do the vacuum lines?
You mean for the brakes? I just grabbed a rubber hose from advance and connected it to the manifold
Make a update video I wanna do kswap aswell
I can't, I sold the car. Sorry man
So get a mr2 non turbo for easier install ? Or get a turbo mr2 and swap a k24
Non turbo if you wanna use a Honda box. Turbo car if you wanna use the mr2 5 speed for more power
The k20 and k24 will swap into either platform without any fuss
@@lcplwilliamsryanm ok got it.... well thank you so much I might go for a turbo and use the Toyota transmission on a k24 when the time comes
Did you ever swap the shells?
No, I sold both cars before I got around to it
what transmission are you using?
RSX type s
Is the shift pattern backwards?
No, it's still normal
How I make the heater work?
Run your heater hoses 180° back to the firewall and they plug right in. The heater hoses are two different sizes though. I think I got 6 foot of each and ended up cutting it down
What tryna are you using
Honda 6 speed
@@lcplwilliamsryanm you using the Same tranny from the rsx ?
Yes, everything was sourced from a 2003 rsx type s
Trade my ek98 k24a2 turbo pushing 400hp

I still believe the k series to be superior swap over a 3s considering how exspensive they're to buy, install, and mod

What did you end up doing for the clutch slave?
I made a adapter line to mate the stock mr2 line to the k20 slave. Hux racing website covers the fitting you need but I just took the mr2 clutch line and k20 skave to a machine shop and had them make me a line with both sides
Ryan Williams I’ve looked on Hux I don’t think I’ve seen a part about the clutch slave but thank you for the reply I was stuck at figuring out that
Sorry for the long reply. Call hux racing directly. He can hook you up
