Not sure what bolt ons you have but if you add bigger injectors and bigger throttle body feed it more are it should help gain more. Also look into a standalone like ktuner to solve you problems. Because I'm sure you had the k24a4 and now have a true vtec k24 in there and would need tunning.
My tsx came with k24a4 previous owner sold it to me with blown head gasket i boutght k24a imported i know i am going to need to change water pump housing what about the vetc sensor the k24a doenst have it and anything else that i need to change to make it run
Yes you can.. but you will have to change the bracket and the oil pan. Knock sensors. I literally just did it on my wife 2012 last weekend… awd trans.. from the top also.
I believe the euro accord has two versions a type r k20a and a k24a rbb. In the states the accords have a different k24 and usdm tsx/accords only have a k24a2 no type s
Oh wait one more question, I would usually see people using the accord ecus or Rsx ecus. Could I use those instead or I would have to add those to the ecu
Question to upgrade a 03 Accord K24A4 auto. Any possible upgrades? TSX cylinder head swap, intake manifold, or newer pistons? Love my car and runs great. Just wish it had more power when I do drives up the grapevine.
If you try swapping a different head, you would need to change pistons because it would make contact. Your best bet is swapping the complete engine. And yeah, you could upgrade everything else, but it won't make much power. I'm sure ktuner has flash for the ecu, but it won't be that efficient.
You tank try I know is been done with the 9th gen si k24a7. The problem is that your engine has sensor not in the same location than the k24a. For example like the crank sensor. On the k24z is located near the flywheel. And on the k24a is by the crank pulley.
On the usdm tsx k24a2 the waterpump housing is fine is only on the jdm k24a. I seen jdm rbb k24a being sold for cheaper than k24a2. But if you could source a k24a2 cheaper with less mileage is good.
I just bought a fa5 with a k24a rbb3 swap. The alternator is bad, it seems to have the usdm accessories. You had said either a base model rsx alternator or a 02-6 crv alternator should fit correct? Or can I get a k20z3 alternator. New to the k series. Coming from a j series
No issues, you would have good hood clearance, probably but the oil pan might sit a bit lower. Just swap over from the type s engine the: knock sensor, crank sensor and if you want which I recommend waterpump housing with oil cooler. Intake manifold with everything. And the intake vtc gear along with the whole oil pump kit. And make sure to get your ecu chipped with hondata.
I'm not too sure, to be honest. I have heard that the k24z block has different water port vs. the k24a cylinder head. I saw 4piston do it before. Is more common to swap a k20z3 head. I also seen jdm k24z.
You would need the crv post mount or you get can an aftermarket universal one. And by pulley I don't know what you mean. You can transfer everything or keep what you wish from the z3.
Did you complete your swap? Just did mine on the 04 tsx same ecu and harness. It runs great but eventually would get misfires and knock sensor code. Do you know if I need to tune the tsx to work properly or I there is another underlying problem? In order to tune, I would need to swap the ecu to a newer ecu/immobilizer to get hondata or ktuner to work because the 04-06 ecu is not writable. Leading to more work/money which makes me feel like I should’ve went with a used k24a2 than the k24a3 jdm.
Not sure if you could try ktuner. I would double-check maintenance issues. It's like a tune-up to see if it helps by pulling any DTC codes. If not, you might need to tuned.
To be honest, I have not personally measured them. But every importer that I seen selling RBB 3. Is way more expensive compared to the RBB 1 and 2. Not sure if it might have the more aggressive cams, but I'm sure it has the slightly bigger intake valve.
Been trying to solve the same riddle myself. Based on my reading even the later RBB3 JDM K24a's stuck with the 04 USDM TSX cams - not the more desirable 06+ K24a2 USDM cams. As a result, in terms of power specs the JDM motors out of the box wont achieve as much peak HP however they do tend to make up for it in torque. Silver lining: this makes a drop in cam even more attractive on the JDM motors especially with 40+ degree VTC
