i get those googly eyes and cut them and take the plastic pupil out, you could get like 50 for 2 bucks and they come in so many sizes

A Cricut Joy also works great to make pupils any size or shape you want. Say if you have oval eyes and want matching oval pupils, it's a winner.
I recently spray painted thumbtacks and used them for an Animal muppet I've been wanting to make and they're great! Also already curved for the curved surface, not to mention they adhere well on their own

That works too! But for long term, that type of plastic doesn’t hold glue well.

Hi, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us Adam. I bought the recommended punch set from the link above and it has spike in the middle that makes a hole in the middle of the circle punched out. It doesn’t look like the spike is removable…just thought I would share.
You can take it out. I just threw it out.
For the larger eye with the brown iris, how would you make the reverse concave to match the convex curve of the white eye base?
It would be the same. You wNt to match the contours.
Hey man hope you're doing okay since your brain surgery. Doing some research on making a Mogwai but I don't have any of the materials. My mom passed away a few months ago and my grandmother is in a home now. Sucks I don't have access to her craft room anymore. I used to be pretty crafty but I dropped out of school when my mom got sick nearly 10 years ago and that changed my life. Now that shes gone I've been trying to get my life back. Sometimes I don't feel like I deserve it because I'm wasting any potential I had. Even making music anymore just seems overwhelming. Anyways you're one of my favorite puppet makers on RUclips. Hey Adam, can you do a video in how you covered this puppets head with the fleece, I am in the beginning stages of getting back into making puppets and for some reason I can't remember how to cover it and not leave a seem. I am using a foam pattern from project puppet that I got some years ago, and It is very similar to your puppets head shape. Thanks for any help.
Topher the seamless method is your form of stitch, so you could use a ton of different styles like the ladder stitch or I’m sure you hear everywhere the Henson stitch but he does have a whole video on both
There are also Compass blade one can get for cutting circles.
I like to use polystyrene balls for my eyes.You can cut their end and paste it to the doll head easily. Then I cut a little from the front of the ball and screw a plastic pupils. for the eyelids I use a piece of felt, and finishing by glueing a false eyelashes

I have fairly easy access to a 3d printer, so making little domes is very easy. Not for everyone, but if you have access to it and are just trying things out, PLA pupils are fun and very customisable.
Quick note on using PLA - it can have extremely low melting point. If you leave it near a window and the sun shines on it, it can warp. The heat from a hair dryer can melt it, so don't keep a finished puppet with PLA components near a heater/radiator. I literally did this last week with a set piece and trashed it. So it's a consideration when making anything you expect to last.

Sorry, my phone ate half my post! You could get a circle cabachon mold (clear silicone) and use uv resin and make your own clear eye blanks! You’d have to paint the pupils, but you’d get a good range of sizes. You could also use oval cabachon molds, it might look good too.

Q. Does cookie monster have googly eyes? Or how does it bounce?
From what i've noticed, Cookie's eyes have tiny holes in the top, through which the pupils are pinned to the eyes, allowing them to wobble around. Hope this helps.
Took me forever to load and watch this, for whatever reason, but I *really* needed to see this! I have a question though: does the velvet paper come in other colors besides black? One thing I always do to differentiate my style/look from others (especially the Muppets) is use different colored pupils for characters - blue, green, and purple are colors I commonly use. I used to use Sharpies, like you said in the end, but I tried using felt, and like you say, it always ends up looking pretty bad for the exact reasons you mentioned (plus felt is a thick fabric - not ideal for pupils).
