Warning!! This site is addictive. I am making my first puppet and love the tutorials. Adam you rock!!! Thank you for your charming and educational videos, and awesome patterns.
@Slay The Dragon Blog its valid criticism, what do you even mean? if the background instrumental is at the point it becomes a distraction then it should be considered for change, how can you even say its not valid?
around 11 y/o I read a book about making a vent dummy head of paper maché. It talked of news paper or brown paper bag over your clay model... but said that Tissue Paper would give a smoother finish. Being very intelligent, I knew that kleenex would fall apart and so I substituted Bounty-style paper toweling (stronger than kleenex) I wish, when he saw it, that my father, a craftsman in his own right, had taken me to a store to buy the right "tissue" wrapping-type paper... after a week or more of effort, I gave up, discouraged.
I've been seeing Arlo a lot in your videos. It's funny because Arlo was the one that got me interested in maybe trying to get my own puppet just for fun. Came full circle
I never thought I would be making puppets but it's about to happen and these videos are a God send. Great videos. You don't do the stuff that doesn't matter. Entertainment and informative.
Wow thanks Adam I didn't realise it would be that simple or that you could use elmers glue/pva to style the hair on a puppet. And btw this puppet building series is so helpful it's helped me so much with building my new character he's not perfect but he's my first attempt at a puppet from scratch will have to tag u in some photos when he's finished .Thank you.
Adam, your a LIFESAVER. I've been trying to figure out how to get a semi perminant hold for puppet hair for years! Who knew it was as simple as elmer's glue? I'm using this technique on my latest puppet build. Actually a bunch of them. I'm using a modified version of your baseball cap technique for the head, and a custom body/ head pattern. I also plan to give him light up eyes! Question, how do you make sharp teeth? I plan to give him a mouth full of serrated jaws. Would you sculpt the teeth, make a mold and cast in resin? Normally I carve them out if foam.
We have had some good luck with Instamorph, which is a moldable plastic you can mold by dipping it in boiling water. Super easy to work with and it makes excellent teeth!
I just have to say that I am loving your channel. Thank you so much for taking the time to make the videos. Please hurry up with the new ones. This is like waiting for the next season of Game Of Thrones. lolol
THANK you for your tutorials! I am in the process of making my second puppet using your tutorials and they stand out above the others I’ve made. You make the process feel doable and seeing the puppets come to life is so so fun! Thanks again!
So my 8yr old nephew has picked up on ventriloquism and he is that munchkin that is insanely good and hooked on video gaming...My brother bought him a puppet at a Goodwill store last month for like $8....It has become his favorite thing in the world. He spends more time now playing and learning how to work the puppet that he hasn't been playing with his video games much, and that's HUGE!!...He is actually getting very good and as the crafty aunt, I've been summoned to create a puppet for him...This is going to help so very much, THANK YOU💖
Oh COME ON ADAM. You expect us to believe you learned to cut hair by watching someone cut YOUR hair? Dude, the shirt, the glasses, the quality hairstyle on that puppet. ADMIT THAT YOU ARE A HAIR STYLIST RIGHT NOW, in front of everyone!
I don't know why but your videos are so relaxing and addicting xD 😂 i even feel like it's so satisfying. It actually reminded me of the Adventures of Pinocchio (1999) movie where Giepeto is making/carving Pinocchio jaja it was so satisfying for me lol 😂
You know, back in the 1980s, my punk friends and I used to put our mowhawks up in the air with Elmer's Glue! It's a great product because it's so non-toxic and so easy to wash out, LOL. Great tutorial!
Great! Can't wait to see what's next. This whole series has really helped me out with thinking outside of the box when it comes to puppet design and items that can be used for construction!
I appreciate you leaving in the part where the glue bottle pops and hits your arm. This is a "Fun" proyect though ...so were here to have fun and learn. Thanks fot the videos.
I was going to use pva glue which is the same what you were using based on what I saw from videos you had previously done. I am using small bundles of wool for my hair. I put a few different colours together and brush the wool so it is puffy but more realistic. Only because it is what I need for the characters I am doing. Plus I have to change skins on my puppet. Took me ten of your videos to figure out you use fleece with is a little more forgiving with the stitch marks. Thanks for all the awesome videos. You have been uber helpful.
this is an inference based off of the other videos in the series. I feel as though if you follow the same procedure, but working around the mouth instead of on the top of the head, you should be able to get a nice looking beard/mustache. Again, just a thought.
oh, question adam: how would you do a curl on the forehead? like Christopher Reeve in superman? would you cut the shape out on the hair pattern? or style long strands with glue into the curl?
Hello, Could it be a video about making a beard and mustache? And is there information about alternative hair-making techniques instead of long plush fabric? For example, easy to find types of rope etc?
I love puppets, whenever I wanna make one I come to you. My first time watching was the Kermit plush vid my dad doesn't love puppets as much as me though😢
I'm trying to make a puppet with hair that has a lot of volume, so either the strands have to be long for I'll need to build a foam hair base for the faux fur to go onto. You suggested using a wig for puppet hair in this video but I havent been able to find a method in how someone would do this? Any suggestions?
What materials would you suggest for longer hair? Im thinking of using thin strips of scrap fleece as I want the hair to look kinda raggedy, but any insight would be appreciated.
Hi there, your tutorials are excellent for new builders like myself. Would contact cement work as an alternative to attaching the hair to the head, or is stitching the best way to go? Many Thanks.
+Derpedy Derp: I did a video on arms a few weeks ago. They might be a little small for this guy. But you can scale them up. ruclips.net/video/unF7z4pshFo/видео.html

For the hair styling go to the local barber’s or hair stylist and bring Elmer’s glue
Adam if you wanted to give it a long braided ponytail with fur, can you show how to do this?
Sure!!!
Amazing job and amazing tutorial! I was thinking to do my first puppet with a punk mohawk. Any recommendations?
Great video you inspire me to do ventriloquist

I have a monster puppet whose fur is matted down from storage, any advice on sprucing/ fluffing it up again.
When he said that he was going to draw the hairline we wanted I started laughing
Cool puppets
Thanks so much!
Adam...You are so inspiring! Thanks for another great tutorial! Do you hold workshops?
Hi Adam! Love your videos. What type of thread do you use to sew?
For hand sewing I typically use upholstery thread.
Hi, Adam! How would you go about making puppet hair for Mona from Nanalan?
Hello,
Could it be a video about making a beard and mustache? And is there information about alternative hair-making techniques instead of long plush fabric? For example, easy to find types of rope etc?
I have a video for a mustache here. ruclips.net/video/JImIMH-9_So/видео.html

Any suggestions for a puppet with long hair?
I would recommend using a wig.
Could you possibly do a longer hair female esc tutorial?
I was wondering what type of stitching you use like a Jimhenson stitch or? But not just for the hair also the head and body stitching
Great hair! I've been making hair out of corduroy for the last few years. More like "sculpture" than hair. Ha!
I was surprised you didn't use some sort of glue to hold down the hair piece.
You could. But I wouldn’t. Stitches are much stronger.
What materials would you suggest for longer hair? Im thinking of using thin strips of scrap fleece as I want the hair to look kinda raggedy, but any insight would be appreciated.
0:59 Always sounds like you're saying "Poppet" : D Seriously though, killer work, these tutorials are great. Michigan accent? Keep these coming! :D

Yes.
Adam Kreutinger then why would you put glue in the fur?
What do you call that cloth you use in the hair?
Do you mean the fur? I’m not sure what you are referring to.
Yeah, i hope i can find that in store :) btw i send you pic in messenger about the puppet i make :)
