- The FDNY All Terrain Response Vehicle 329 aka The Sand Vehicle utilizes a 2015 Ford F-550 with a KME Body. It's assigned as Engine 329 as the 2nd Piece. It is cross staffed by Engine 329s Control Firefighter. It does not have a pump and does not carry any water. It's a large manifold. The main purpose of this rig is for parts of the 1st Due Area that have very tight beach walkways that can't fit normal sized fire apparatus. That area is called Breezy Point. It's ran by a Cooperative in which the community is private. The houses are very close to each other and fires can spread rapidly due to the houses being on the water and the winds. As the ATRV has 4x4 capabilities and a air deflate system on board helps moving around in the sand. Engine 329 Responds with the ATRV to all calls in Breezy Point, Floyd Bennett Field and all calls in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd due water rescue area along Rockaway Beach. Engine 329 will stop at the hydrant outside of the walks. The chauffer will remain at the rig connecting to hydrant. ATRV 329 will drop it's 3.5inch supply hose driving down one of the walks until it's Infront or past the fire building. Engine 329 is supplying the ATRV as it's strictly a manifold. They can operate 2 Hand Lines and the Deck Gun at the same time. The 3rd line will more then likely be taking off the 3rd due engine or whoever can get close enough to the fire building. On the 2nd Alarm the Satellite will respond with a portable manifold that can help with more lines at the scene. The ATRV is also assigned to Water Rescues & Beach Rescues as Engine 329 is a Water Rescue Company equipped with Water Rescue Swimmers. The ATRV is assigned to Jacob Riss Park, Fort Tilden and Rockaway Beach to about Beach 115th Street but can be special called for the whole rockaways. They also may be assigned for brush fires in Marine Park in Brooklyn which is right passed Floyd Bennett Field. ATRV is equipped with Cold Water Rescue Suite, PFDs, Wetsuits with boots & fins, 600' ocean rescue rope, torpedo's, life saver, quick release water rescue belt, stokes with flotation, backboard, Set of Irons, CFRD (EMS Equipment), Water Can, Indian Cans, Scott Packs, Bolt Cutters, Shovels, Brooms, Ramps for stuck in sand and hose ramps to get over charged hose. They have a Rescue Surfboard that is just not pictured in the video but normally on both engine & ATRV. It has 300 feet of 3.5 Supply, 6 lengths of 1.75 primary attack hose on each side and 4 lengths each side of 2.5 hose that can be added on to the 1.75 hose. Deck Gun on top that also can be used for heavy volume of fire. They have a 24 ft extension ladder as they can use at fires in breezy point to get to roofs and 2nd floors and even water rescues. During Hurricanes, Snow Storms, Special Events, High Rip Tides they may put the ATRV Inservice as it's own company being called Rapid Response 329. The ATRV also has a winch that can be used to remove something from the water or get them out of the sand.
Average calls is about 300 a year
If you have any questions about the ATRV leave them below and i will answer them! Thanks for watching this weeks Fleet Friday

I'm genuinely beginning to think the FDNY has one of every piece of fire appratus ever dreamed up by the mind of man. Not being from NYC I don't normally think of beaches when I think about New York, but this truck makes perfect sense for their response area. Thank you!
Close I can’t wait till he gets to the backhoe loader and bobcats!!! How do they transport some of this equipment. Even a fuel truck for if I remember third alarm and higher calls. Amazing
Thanks for watching
@@SkylerFire I remember a question I was going to ask...is this a one-off truck or are there any other engine companies that have one of these? I remember when you did the Fleet Friday on the SSLs that you mentioned several ladder companies had them.
@@Moose6340 this is the only ATRV
Still no helicopters!
I love Fleet Friday. FDNY has so many interesting speciality rigs. I didn't realize ATRV 329 carried such a variety of equipment.
Great job Skyler! (You should be on the job)
Thanks! I like what I do so you wouldn’t be able to see all this hahaha!
Just like the Navy seals, the elite get all the coolest toys imaginable.
It's a friggin pickup with hose & sandals.
Thumbs up to FDNY for a well thought out multi-purpose piece of equipment. Thanks for this video
Thanks for watching
Awesome! What cool and unique unit. Thanks for the tour and the demo. This channel is definitely 💯! Thanks for providing all of these great videos. 👍🏼
Thanks so much!
This is great. What a useful unit to have in the wilder parts of the city😊
It really is!
Great information. Loved the horses in the background.
Hahaha! Thanks
Again Skyler. Very interesting piece on vehicles that doesn’t get the most attention well done
Thanks
Thanks Skyler, Nice tour of a interesting piece of equipment till next week 👍
You bet
I'm enjoying and learning from these videos!
Glad to hear it!
Awesome job Skyler!! I look forward each Friday to see your videos!
Yay! Thank you!
Sharp looking rig and you had some awesome shots on that beach!
Thanks 👍
Another very informative episode really enjoy Fleet Friday ...... a definite winner 🏆
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for sharing this information with us,I remember the warehouse fire in Queens that you and John did and you featured this very truck in that video hope you are doing well my friend.
Thanks Rush! Hope to see you soon!
Great informative vid Skyler. You certainly know the FDNY equipment on these rigs! Thank you.
You bet!
Good evening from the Great State of Texas. I love your fleet Friday video's.. Tis is a n interesting truck. Keep up the good work and show more vehicles. Be safe my friend.
Thanks
Awesome rig!! Thanks! Enjoying fleet Friday! 👍👍😁🇺🇸
Thanks
Nice Job Skyler, Super Nice Truck Bad to The Bone With Everything, Thanks Bro Stay Safe.
Thanks 👍
The "Walk" rig! Very nice unit! Beach or Bad Weather! I saw it on a water rescue last week I think. Those large singles tires really dig in, on the sand! Fleet Friday 👍👍👍👏⛱️!!
Yeah it was something about they have to be road tires also? Idk
Very cool. I like your Fleet Fridays
Thanks
The blue item at 5:50 is not a ramp, its a traction device for helping to get itself unstruck in off-road situations. Very commonly used items by off-road vehicles.
Thanks! I couldn’t see what exactly they looked like
They work as a ramp 🙄. They are made by a company called Maxtraxx. I have a set.
Thanks Skyler! Catchin' up on your videos. Great topic.
Awesome! Thank you!
SKYLER HAPPY FLEET FRIDAY THANKS FOR THE VIDEO 👍😁🙏🇺🇲
Thanks
FDNY thinks of everything , I love it
Yup
You have got to be kidding. Big government agencies, like The Fire Department City of New York, are reactive, not proactive. They couldn't get to a beach fire once & so bought a pickup equipped for soft sand & plenty of hose. Don't get me wrong. I admire FDNY, but let's be real.
Bless AWESOME 👏 Keep'em coming. Thanks 🙏
Thank you! Will do!
Looking forward to the squad and rescue co videos 👍
We will see lol
all the toys for the best FDNY.
Thanks for watching
Thanks again Skyler very informative videos keep them up
Thanks, will do!
Great video Skyler
Thanks!
Hi Skyler - Love your Friday videos. Suggest you include in future videos the firefighters that assist you, such as pulling out the rigs, coaching, etc. Bet you thank them offline, but it would be better if you did it at the end of the video.
I can’t have the firefighters physically in the videos. That’s why it’s strictly hands only if you see anything
Thanks Skyler. That is too bad that due to another dumb rule we can’t see the men and women of The Bravest. Much appreciate your videos and commentary.
@alfernandez9764 well it’s due to the fact if they don’t give the right answer it reflects on the department. And I don’t want anyone to get introuble.
I assume a lot of planning over time went into creating this particular type of vehicle to respond to a variety of incidents,Skyler. Thanks again.
Thanks
NOTE:the front 2"receiver also holds the 7 pole holder with the 20 quart cooler.Great video thank you
Hahaha thanks for watching
Hey just wondering, would you be interested in going to the volunteer fire departments in Nassau and Suffolk counties? Maybe do something like covering one fire department at a time videoing their entire fleet and showing all the different pieces of equipment. It could be a series maybe once a month. That would be awesome seeing all of the different types of rigs and the different volunteer fire depts on Long Island 🤗🤗🤗
Maybe. Still have a good amount of Fire vehicles to do and then maybe something else!
Skyler great condition of FDNY.....🚒
Thanks
Awesome overview, very cool little rig. Your voice over audio in the video is much improved over last time. Nice work!
Thanks!
Awesome series!! Great job!
Thanks so much!
Great job as always. Keep up the good work. Stay safe brother
Thanks, you too!
Great vids my man. Looking forward to the day to see a squad vid
Squad 18 & 2nd Piece coming soon
Amazing rig.
Glad you like it!
Amazing channel! Would love to see the rescue ambulances
Possible! Haven’t decided if was doing the EMS side yet
@@SkylerFire you definitely should!!!
Good for tight areas
Yup
Nice fire truck
Sure is
I swear that fdny has a unit for every thing. 😂😂😂
It is the biggest city and busiest!
@@SkylerFireTokyo actually has a larger department but for the USA nothing beats the FDNY!!!
@@robertschultz6922 ha! Who’s thinking about them? 😂😂
@@SkylerFire exactly 😂🤣😂
Wow! Look so Cool! Can you make a video about RAC 1 and RM-1 please?
RAC yes. RAC manager doesn’t carry anything
@@SkylerFire Hi Skyler! It's ok! Thank you so much
@@gaborandrejszki2553 RAC manager is really to make sure FFs are getting blood levels checked, if injured members and making FFs get fluids after the fire
So that truck has no onboard water tank?
No it’s a large manifold.
A manifold on wheels we could say.
Does this station back up the point breeze fire department
FDNY has full control over all fire scenes. I am told that those vollies only get on scene before FDNY when they call your security first instead of 911… when 911 is called first the FDNY will be first due which when ever FDNY gets on scene the vollies are suppose to back out.
@@SkylerFirethat’s incorrect. Both fdny and vollies work together on a scene.
Whoever gets dispatched to it first depends on if the caller called 911 or some of the areas have private security and if they called them, the vollies get notified first.
How long does it take to inflate and deflate the tires?
Under 2mins
When you say it’s a big ‘manifold’ what exactly does that mean ?
The rig has no pump so the water gets pumped from a engine company. It can go thru any of the inlets or outlets. Whatever one you open the water will come out when it’s supplied by the engine.
Was that the same chopper buzzing you or was it just a busy area for choppers?
NYPD going to land
you can make a fleet friday video to see rescue 1?
Possible.
Smart all u have to do is pump to it
Thanks for watching
Why is the truck so dirty?
I wouldn’t say so…. It’s a Sand vehicle lol fire trucks are not clean when they are used 24/7. This is not a volunteer department where they have the time to do this
You should do fleet friday for a tower
Coming soon
What is a control firefighter?
Each Engine & Ladder have working positions
Engines are
Officer
Chauffeur
Nozzle
Backup
Control
@@SkylerFire So a follow up question, what is the control’s role in the fire. The other positions, I can guess.
Control Firefighter is the last firefighter on the hand line. To ensure enough line to stretched to the nozzle team, to deal with kinks in the hose, usually a experienced firefighter.
FDNY's response to getting owned by RPVFD, PBFD, and RFD.
What u mean?
@@SkylerFire all of the volunteer fire departments down in breezy point and roxbury have multiple units meant for the sand and have had them for years. For many many years E329 was basically left walking up the sidewalks while the vollies did the job. FDNY had egg on their faces for a very long time until the city finally decided to get them something for the sand.
Does this run medical as well?
It’s not responding by it’s self. E329 will always respond with it. It can respond to EMS calls on the beach and breezy point tho
Why do you call it a "manifold" and not a "hose wagon"
Because it’s basically a large manifold
What is the control firefighter?
A position firefighter… the FDNY has a position for each person working…
Engine Company
Officer
Chauffeur
Nozzle
Backup
Door
Control
Ladder Company
Officer
Chauffeur
Irons
Can
Roof
