@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Connor and Eric ... He comes across as very knowledgeable and if I were there... I would fully trust in his capabilities 👏👏👏🚒😎
Damn thats a good firefighter. Very knowledgeable and friendly I could see him being an officer. If not a PIO. Hell a chief someday. This is what all departments should teach. Not just the overall training but the familiarity of equipment and apparatus and every tool within the apparatus. And if they're mechanically inclined then they should know everything else about the interior of the apparatus. Good on you man! Stay safe!
Thanks for this video 😀 😎 I'm sure this is a very useful and important multi functional piece of equipment in your area during winter and during any major events that require the extra support, equipment, and options in case of emergency needs. This video is very well put together, highly informative, Firefighter Andrew Funk is an excellent speaker, a great narrator who is very knowledgeable about this piece of apparatus. Thanks 🚒😀
One thing you have to look at with budgets for government agencies is the funding per citizen/firefighter too however. LA definitely has a bigger budget than this department but they have to use a lot more resources due to the scope they have to cover
Used a rig just like this several times in Alaska( I thought it was manufactured by Bombardier of Canada), it officially was quartered at then Ft.Wainwright, near Fairbanks. Nice video!!
@KISHANTH JEYAMOORTHY I don't remember all specifics, you could be right(1980s). Bombardier has different divisions now, not sure what all they make anymore ( planes, ATVs, snowmachines??)All I know is the US Army had several. Thanks
Hägglunds BV 206 are an amazing piece of equipment, they keep on going where a Unimog doesn't get any further; Many Swedish fire departments run them, also some services in other countries still have them
Finland must have had something like this during the preWWII "Winter War". Kitchens hauled out to the front lines, even saunas, everyone had a hot meal a couple of times a week and into the sauna a couple of times a week! A major edge over the hungry and freezing Russian troops! Of course, the Finns also used reindeer to haul equipment when useful ... I'll bet you don't have any reindeer.
I’ve been driving one in the Swedish army and it was a fun thing to drive I would love to convert one to an all terrain mobile home in the back of the hägglunds
Cool! The Italian National Fire Brigade has quite a few of these vehicles, but I'm not sure if it's this same or another brand. We call them "bruco" which translates into "caterpillar"
I find it interesting that a department that operates red vehicles, would decide to paint this vehicle white. Given that it deals, primarily with snow / winter emergencies.
It's Swedish and was built in Örnsköldsvik. Hägglunds built Bandvagn 202, Bandvagn 206, Pansarbandvagn 302 for the Swedish Armed Forces and later exported the 206 and variants of it to several European countries and others
If I were ever to be a firefighter which I probably will be I would defiantly want to work at South Metro Fire Rescue because I saw all your fleet Fridays and all your vehicles are super cool
I would convert that from carb to efi, You would not have the float issues. Put a holly sniper unit on it. Very user friendly. Would work great. Very cool unit.
I'm just wondering why it wasn't painted a brighter color if it's main use is in snowy weather. Even the traditional red would be more eye catching in the snow.
I think I've seen a suppression-capable version of these vehicles. Since this one doesn't have those capabilities, would it be a case of loading a portable pump, hose, tools, hydrant gear and maybe a portable water tank into the back if needed to access an otherwise inaccessible location?
Thanks for the reply! I wondered whether it was an option. I'm sure I've seen versions that can deliver suppression with a variety of different systems including CAFS, Ultra High-Pressure misting & portable pumps. The TRV is a fascinating multi--role concept.
there sure are things this department doesn't have. Not sure if they have a Large Capacity Ambulance Bus, but I'm pretty sure that they don't have sth like a Mobile Crane, Fire & Rescue Train, 2-Way Engine or Heavy Rescue, Nitrogen Vaporizer or Aerials in the 150' and above range
Does anyone else think that this might be a good idea for a swat team NCAA remote area. Obviously they would have to up armor it but to me it seems like a good idea
1 question remains, why white has the primary and not red has the rest of your apparatus? don't get me wrong I prefer the White to be the main colour on fire apparatus but looks goofy when the paint scheme isn't constant
Man he has PIO potential!! He really knows his stuff, and is very clear and precise!! I like it!
Jacob Cornelius he was awesome
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Connor and Eric ... He comes across as very knowledgeable and if I were there... I would fully trust in his capabilities 👏👏👏🚒😎
Fun
Why would he want a downgrade in his job?
Sam Mitchell I mean downgrade eh. Doesn’t have to work 24 hour shift. He doesn’t have to run medical calls. And get his on vehicle so.
This is probably one of the coolest in your guys fleet
He made running around in it sound like fun! It is an interesting piece of equipment and unique as well. Thank you!

That's a sweet rig. Also love the carhartt duty coat!
Great job with the video, well delivered, spoken, informative description of your equipment. Looks like another PIO for South Metro
I love the intro the these videos, I always get a funny feeling when watching the intro

It looks so goofy and cute :D
Beautiful , historic and awesome machine. Good to see it in action in a non military role after it was retired.
Been to the ranch right next to the station, its pretty funny to see the Snowcat outside while on a horse
Such a neat unit but so valuable when needed
I'm loving fleet Friday, could you show more of the heavy rescue?
Another fantastic video I really enjoy all of the videos.
this is really the most funded FD in the nation lol
Max Ackerman it definitely helps that a good portion of their area is in the 6th richest county in the nation 😂
It’s not.
Max Ackerman I mean let’s not forget that LA County Fire has a budget of over $1 billion.
Spencer Berklite FDNY has over $2B
One thing you have to look at with budgets for government agencies is the funding per citizen/firefighter too however. LA definitely has a bigger budget than this department but they have to use a lot more resources due to the scope they have to cover
a nice Hägglund BV206 you got there 👍
This intro is fire just like you and your channel
You should do some more day in the lives. I love the content!
1987 Hagglunds BV206, one of the best Tracked Vehicle out there for sure..
it's just to thank the Swedes who built this :) im are really proud to see this over there
Swedes do very cool survival stuff. Swedish FireSteel, unstoppable fire maker, made for their army.

I would love to see more station tour videos, maybe on station 23

I always thought a fire truck was the most badass vehicle on the road.....Then I saw this!
Nice to see some Swedish vehicles being used in the U.S. :)

Yeeeeeeea boiii- **cutoff by hazmat as she screams out on a call**
It's like a big caterpillar I love it

Thank you for the response I thought that there may have been a Ambulance style compartment that could be attached to it
On average how many times a year is this vehicle used for a call?
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO does it have sirens? It would make sense if it didn't
We also have that in Singapore
That is a really great piece of equipment could you put patient compartment on it
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay... that's sick
Front cab interior gives me HMMWV vibes haha
I'm just wondering why it wasn't painted a brighter color if it's main use is in snowy weather. Even the traditional red would be more eye catching in the snow.
a fleet friday of Tower 18 would be awesome, is that the only rear mount tower or is there more?
Can you guys do a fleet Friday on engine 61?
Would this go our for wildfire calls to gain access access a remote area of it?
Do rehab 12

My doubter loves firefighters.
Also Italian’s firefighters have this vehicle😍
You're doing combat for sure. Just a different kind, with nobody shooting at you (hopefully).
U guys should do a fleet Friday of ladder 12
Could it be used as rehab on like a snowy fire
It’s called a Hägglund in Germany.
not only in Germany, but everywhere ...
Hägglund is the manufacturer who made it in Sweden the name is Bandvagn 206 (BV206). and some country is wrong whit the name link UK say Hägglund.
DO YOU HAVE A TRAILER TO TRANSPORT THAT ON
Johnny Bellamy yes they do.
20:31
Is there any kind of vehicle you don't have? Never thought I would see a Bandvagn as a US fire department vehicle
there sure are things this department doesn't have.
What a cool rig. How was it getting to ride in it?
Rad!!! Freaking rad!! 4 feet of snow right now in Northern NY state. Could use this rig. \m/ \m/
UnkleJustin NYSP has one of these, or something very similar. I’ve seen it on display at the state fair. It’s usually up in the ADKs
If might be a good idea to write like a grown up.
I can't help but feel like white is the least visible color for a blizzard response vehicle
I want to drive it and know I am only 15 years old!
The Dutch Marines still use this vehicle.
dont they use something from volvo.
How do you do this so go
.
"Snowcat"? Meh. That's a Bogtrotter. Nice to see one in the wild, she'll serve you guys well.
So, no siren on this thing I guess?
Omg they're militarizing our fire departments now. Ridiculous.
But seriously this thing is a beast.
It’s a rescue vehicle

Designed and built in Sweden🇸🇪
Yes [patient sigh] that's been said many, many, MANY times in earlier comments.

It's decreases the odds of the chief seeing them doing tricks and taking it off jumps in white-out conditions. Ingenious.
Made in Sweden at Hägglunds 🇸🇪

Why is it white tho? Seems kinda counter intuitive.
White is just a clean look.
@@iamReddington but not very useful when you operate in the snow...
