    Check that the red fuel hose is certified for propane. Most are not (acetylene only) and will deteriorate over time causong leaks. Look for a grade rating like T or R. R & RM are NOT propane rated where T is.

    I sell Smith and Gentec torches. Gentec is good but 3 times heavier but in now much better quality as a Smith torch. Smith is much lighter. Most jewelers do like how heavy Gentec is. Also the price difference between Gnetec and Smith is about $42

    You never showed the regulators you use or how you had the Oxygen pump hooked up. So are these true regulators or just adjustable gas valves? Also it would be nice if you added a link to the equipment you are using for people that watch the video and want to start crafting.

    Thank you for taking the time to post this information. I’m looking to get into the jewelry making hobby/ business and I’m super amateur, so this really helps. I was wondering if you could provide a parts list for the set up and where you found them.
    Also.. did you say smith tips will fit this Gen torch or it won’t? And how did you connect the oxygen regulator to the hose made to fit a bottle of oxygen?
    Thanks so much and have a fantastic day 😊

    • @sweetgumnyc7794
      @sweetgumnyc7794  Год назад +7

      yes all the smith tips and regulators fit the gentech torch. regarding my setup, i use a disposable propane tank with the smith disposable tank regulator ( if you buy the gentech torch dont buy the gentech regulator...i feel the gentech torch is better but the regulator is shitty...definitely go with the smith regulator for the propane, for the oxygen, you dont need a regulator with a oxygen concentrator. You just directly attach the hose. you can find everything you need on amazon. regarding the aftermarket tips for melting, those can be found at paigetools on etsy.

    2:39 so brass is a soft metal and you’re not supposed to over tighten it but it is more convenient because you don’t need thread tape because the softer metal seals the treads so you can take it apart and put it back together without having to tape the threads every time but with steel threads you need teflon thread tape. you mentioned the other cheap torch leaked a lot so i wonder if this was part of the issue?

  • @stewartc4558

Also, I thought it was interesting you said not to get the gentec regulators-get the Smith propane regulator. Do you only need the propane regulator or do you need both the propane and oxygen regulator if you’re first starting out? I don’t have anything so I need to buy the full setup.

    • @sweetgumnyc7794
