    This portable torch is designed for intermittent use and uses a 14.1-oz. disposable propane and 1.1 cu. ft. disposable oxygen tanks. Typically, you’ll use roughly one tank of propane to five tanks of oxygen. The lightweight system reduces hand and arm fatigue, allowing you to work more comfortably. Flexible hoses make the torch easy to use and more agile.
    WARNING! Always use safety equipment when soldering!

    Pro welding tip: Don't ever use a butane lighter to light torches (or keep one in your pocket). They make a nasty bomb if a spark or slag hits them and melts thru. Always use a sparker. You will only make that mistake once.

    I would have the tip pointing the opposite way so when altering the flow your fingers are further away from the flame and also when you put the torch down the nozzle is pointing up away from any possible combustibles, accidents do happen, also I would add flashback arrestors they are not expensive however unlikely an accident would be when messing with a potential bomb you should always err on the side of maximum safety.

    1- Do you need flash back arrestors with a disposable canister set up?
    2- If I buy a few disposable oxy tanks to keep in reserve, is there anything special I need to know about storage (i.e., upright, temperature control)?
    3- How do I dispose of them?

      1. No
      2.Store upright in temperatures below 120°F
      3. Old tanks can be recycled at local scrap yard for cash just like aluminum
      Hope this helps, good luck!

    Never start a torch with a lighter!!!!!! Can create what they call a "mixed gas situation" and you can cause an explosion!!!!! Use a manual flint striker or better yet they make lovely little piezo electric striker units for the little torches that work very well!!! Please no lighters!!!!!
    I had to get a larger O2 tank, about a 100cf size, the little red cans are just painfully expensive and they run out quickly. They run $11 to $16 each around here. I can refill a big canister for about $25 and it lasts a good long time. Went through about 4 of the O2 regulators for the canisters too... for some reason they develop leaks frequently. Even when you think they are turned off there will still be O2 leaking out the torch tip or out the top of the regulator.

    • @cooltoolsvideos
      @cooltoolsvideos  Год назад +1

      Hi Ray, we asked Matt your question and he replied: A large propane tank will require an adjustable regulator & a flashback arrestor is a good idea. Also I highly recommend replacing both hoses if they look like they are getting dry rot.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 Год назад +4

    one tip, DON'T use a lighter, but, like the big cousin, the 'oxy-torch', that welders use on cars, etc. use a flint style sparker, this prevents the lit tourch causing a 'flashback' on the lighter, and it blowing up in your hands, or for the hotter flame from burning your hands (if you used a match). and another no no, you lit straight away, you MUST PURGE the lines,,one at a time, this stops a mixed gas explosion (when Fuel and oxygen mix in another spot in the system, than that designed, and an ignition source finds it).
