People are trying to play it down to the fact that it's not Rockstar's fault, but T2's, when in fact, it is very much Rockstar's fault.
T2 also owns 2K studio which made Mafia DE. Part of the Definitive Edition was a Mafia remake. A remake of a game from 2002. That remake was published in 2020. The price for pre-order and even right now is $40. $40 is a price for a fully remade game with amazing graphics, new gameplay and a world full of details and many aspects of the game were completely remade to fit today's standards, while still keeping integrity of the original game.
2023, Rockstar makes a port of a game from 2010 with missing multiplayer and no improvements whatsoever (no, putting a filter on the game is not an improvement), and bam. How much do they want, $50?
This is not T2 doing this, this is Rockstar knowing damn well that their fans are stupid enough to actually buy that.
Rockstar is doomed to walk the Volition's path, if they aren't walking it already, but best we can hope is that GTA 6 won't completely suck. As we all know, we also expected the new SR to be good. Until the first update launched. And seeing how even the GTA Online updates nowadays pretty much lack fun as well, I don't really expect GTA 7 to ever come out. If it will, it won't be Rockstar publishing it.

Yeah agree 100% I've argued with some Rockstar cucks who absolutely refuse to believe that Rockstar is at fault as well. They think that L* is a slave of T2 and that T2 are the ones forcing L* to do crap that they have done. I told them that back in 2018 when T2 went after open 4 to ban single player mods, the pc community retaliated so hard that L* had to step in and told T2 to back off. So this confirms that they have an equal partnership with each other. Rockstar is equally as worst as T2.
I’d say October 1st 2013 is the date Rockstar became a soulless corporation. I came across the Shark Credit Card ad in GTA IV the other day & it made me feel sad at how far they fell. They really went from the greatest game developer to one of the worst.

I finished the story of RDR2 just last night. It’s an incredible game. It’s a shame that all the games I like are owned by studios that don’t care anymore.
RDR2 is go good I'm considering starting a third playthrough (but not online, as that's ship's long sailed already). If Rockstar really wants to redeem itself, it should focus on a much anticipated third instalment.

I have to mention that RDR was playable through streaming on PlayStation’s PS Plus Premium subscription tier. Multiplayer was playable!! They sneakily removed it a few months before revealing this “re-release”. Super scummy!
Isn't that what they did with GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas? Not allowing anyone to buy the original games and only forced to buy their crappy "remasters".

I think a good way to describe rockstar is they are a company, a mega corp that has gained. Mindless , dedication and loyalty compared to actual trust. Whereas other companies can gain trust and lose it. Rockstar has and can’t loose either. You will either buy the game or not. More likely buy.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remake was $49.99 retail on release, for the Deluxe Edition. It was a full remake of two games, not just ports. A fair, and reasonable price range I would say.

Rockstar no longer profits directly from game sales, take2 does, and take 2 pays rockstar to develop/program the game. They are just programmers now. Rockstar entertainment hasn't existed in over 10 years. They are just a brand under take 2 interactive's umbrella.
It's like saying dice is responsible for the loot boxes in battlefield, when everyone knows it's EA's idea.
Rockstar hasn't made a new game since red dead redemption 2. They can't make a new game without take 2 interactive's permission, because take two owns the rockstar studio and copyright.
Basically the plan is for take 2 to milk grand theft auto to death, then shut rockstar down when profits start to decrease.

It’s stuff like this that give me no hope for the future of games like gta 6, and rockstar as a whole. From ignoring fans and their outcries, being downright hypocrites, removing content from their games, and now re releasing a 13 year old game at premium price while somehow managing to be, in my opinion, inferior to the original. The only reason you’d buy this version is A) you play on PS4/5 and don’t want to pay the price for ps plus premium to stream the PS3 version, or B) You play on switch. This just serves as another sad example that no matter how many times we think rockstar has hit rock bottom, they still somehow manage to stoop lower.

imma say this rn because I saw a post on twitter/youtube, Double Eleven Studios made the RDR port for the switch in mind, and it runs well from what I've seen. the PS4 port is most likely something they thought of at the last minute, transferring it over to there, and didn't have time to add in PS4 features asides from FSR 2.
That or maybe Rockstar gave them a deadline, and didn't consider ALL the changes before re-releasing for 50 bucks because they're lazy. But hey, that's just me.
Take two interactive is just repackaging old assets. Rockstar has nothing to do with it. Rockstar is now just the GTA programming company.

Crazy how 10 years ago we looked at Rockstar as the Gold Standard of a Video Game Companie and watch them evolve into this. Its Sad.
GTA Online was a mistake, the moment they saw the money printing machine that were the Shark Cards everything was put to a stop. Anyone remembers the Bully 2 references in GTA Online, that game is probably internally cancelled.
Rockstar is struggling and is only releasing these games like this due to the original devs leaving. Take2 is panicking because they milked gta 5. They know gta 6 has to be perfect, or they are screwed.

I was stumbling across this after I got my hands on a PS5 and wondered, “this game never was on the PS4, what the hell?” Now it all makes sense… and the funny thing is, NO PC PORT. Honestly, had they ported to the PC, I might’ve bought it on sale.

In my humble opinion the only problem here was the price and not having a 60fps option at launch and no PC port ofc. If they released it at $25 it would've been perfect. If they had remastered we would've gotten another Definitive Edition problem and people would 100% complain about the atmosphere, etc.
This is imo the perfect way of remastering a classic game unless you actually take the time to REMAKE it. Dont try to force new lighting systems and high res textures on a game that wasn't made with it in ming, otherwise you'll end up with stuff like Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered the the Trilogy DE.
A straight up port updated for the newer gens with higher resolution, proper FX, proper HUD for the new resolutions, higher framerate is the perfect way to bring a classic to a newer audience.
I still have the Game Of The Year Edition on both consoles.
at this point it's just sad tbh, anyone remember during the gamecube and xbox, PS2 era, each version of the game is a complete overhaul for each console instead just "yeah let just make the game barely workable on modern software"

By the way for anyone who has an interest in this kind of thing. Something to consider is Strauss Zelnick essentially launched a corporate takeover to gain control of Take-Two and in 2008 after having his man put in charge Take-Two would go under major restructuring firing many employees and moving to get out of the publishing game. Essentially aiming to transform the company into a holding company rather than a company directly involved in game development or publishing. After Zelnick directly came into power they would go under further transformation as he saw fit.
I can't help but wonder how Take-Two would have turned out if his corporate takeover had failed. Also two little things I find slightly ironic, first his intial interest in Take-Two came from Take-Two trying to acquire BMG's assets. Zelnick was in charge of their American branch and was against the sale to Take-Two. Also while it wasn't the only issue the Hot Coffee controversy was one of the issues that made him able to get other shareholders to agree to his takeover of the company.
I'm actually looking forward to playing Red Dead Redemption 1 on my PS4. My only issue is the price. I'll probably wait until it goes down first.

RDR port isn't even a simple port, it's fucking downgrade, it doesn't even have multiplayer.
