From someone who DESPISED Chibnall's era with a passion, I have to say I really liked Power of The Doctor. It was only one of several Chibnall DW episodes which were actually good (Resolution, Rosa, The Witchfinders, It Takes You Away, and maybe Evolution of The Daleks...and that's about it). I loved Jodie, even though she was totally wrong for the part....she just tried SO hard, you have to admire that. I thought Power wrapped things up nicely (except for the f'ing Timeless Child abomination), and I loved the beautiful homage to the classic series.
@@Hilda_ogden I personally felt it had a much stronger script. And it was the ONLY one I liked the Sacha Dawan Master in. And Jodie gave her best performance in this one.
man I discovered this channel through the Broadchurch video randomly being recommended to me. 3 minutes into this and I am SHOCKED you only have 665 subscribers? This feels like the kind of stuff I'd see on a 10k subs channel minimum
LOVE this, dude! Had me laughing throughout. Did a big ol' 2-hour video on this story myself a while ago and that runtime still wasn't enough to fit in all my criticisms... Look forward to seeing more of your stuff.
It would’ve been more interesting to see Jodie try and portray the master in the body swap thing and do evil stuff, but I’m not sure her acting range would go that far
It may have been a mess of an episode to some people but it was enjoyable nonetheless in my honest opinion. I even rewatched it with a friend at some point randomly.
The episode was utter nonsense. Chibnall doesn't understand that when the Doctor regenerates he is the same person in a different body with a different personality. The Master can't become the Doctor. The opening was a mess and it just got messier as it carried on and on and on. None of the bullshit about the Ruth Doctor got resolved even though she turned up. Everything was stolen from better people's writing in the worst way possible. When the woman impersonating the Doctor started regenerating my only thought was "fuck off, already".
I lasted just one minute of your review, I just cannot stand the sight or sound of Jerdeh Whittlesses excruciatingly bad impersonation of Bubble from AbFab. I think there may be a reason - possibly more than one! - why Whittless and Chinball's era was on a downward plummet from episode two. Such a shame that they were allowed to destroy it. I doubt that RTD can save it. RIP Doctor Who.
I stopped caring about new who after the first season of Peter Capaldi and really the last really enjoyable episode for me was Flat line the Chibnall years have actually felt like 1985-88 who (yes I'm that old) in a directionless mess with Pantomime acting, there were nice things about this final episode but not enough for me to miss this doctor, really my only joy was seeing the past selves especially Paul McGann and I was touched by Teagan especially with the 5th doctor. It's just a shame to me that we've had nearly 8 years of pap and poorly written stories. Really I wish this Show would just invent a new villain as none of the New Masters are at all good in comparison to the 5 actors who played the Master in the original series the closest we get in the new show is Eric Roberts, even Peter Pratt under a death mask is better then any in the modern show who have all been terribly exercises in over acting with no explanation how they've survived or what there plans are.
You're wrong about the Doctor always going the other way on blowing stuff up after fair warning. Chibnall was right about that. It usually is his philiosophy,. He follows through more often than he doesn't. The Krillitanes, The Beast, The Racnoss, The Family of Blood, The Clockwork Man from Deep Breath. The Doctor very much does resort to straight up kill everything when pushed to it.
I havent watched it, but it seems incoherent, however it was doing something good, bring back the previous doctors was good, they should have come back before on a couple of occasions and this needed to happen.
@@blastfromthepast-o1d I believe the poor levels of writing gave Whittaker no favors. We would have seen her true mediocrity in retrospect, but it would have been way better as it was released if the writing crew wasn't so stifled.
Genuinely I'd say this is the worst episode of doctor who ever. I have never been so bored and uninterested watching any Doctor Who episode before. Great video though. I'm not excited per say for the 60th but I'll watch the episodes and enjoy them as hopefully they'll be 3 good episodes of Doctor Who.
We've all seen the episode mate. Don't need a review from you. Power of the Doctor was brilliant. I got my chocolate biscuits and a cup of coffee, laid on the sofa and settled down to watch and enjoy the show. And oh boy what a show. Power of the Doctor is brilliant. Why don't you watch something else because it is obvious you don't like it anymore.
Glad you enjoyed the episode, wouldn't wanna take that away from you! Critiquing film and tv is a very popular format on RUclips, and you're not always gonna agree with mine or anyone else's take, which is absolutely fine. But I've gotta take into account that you don't speak for everyone on this platform so I unfortunately can't let you dictate what content I make, if that ever changes though I'll definitely let you know! Have a great day😁
@@stanlandprod Yes. I agree with you that we all have different opinions etc and everyone's entitled to theirs. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan since the Jon Pertwee days to Jodie Whittaker. I'm looking forward to November but I'm avoiding every opinion on them before broadcast. I did the same when before Power of the Doctor was broadcast and loved it. It was great to see some of the previous Doctors in it. Thanks for your response to mine and the effort you took. Greatly appreciated.
How dare you remind me that this episode exists.

What about Haunting?
@@greenberry6019 That one wasn't too bad. Not great, but passable.
Do you really only like Power because of fan service? Because in terms of quality how is this better?

Honestly forgot about 13s era in all the actual hype for the discuss, glad i could revisit it through this but now with actual humour, very funny

I feel sorry for the kids that didn’t get to grow up with a good run of Doctor Who. How this run was treated feels vindictive.
Right, as it’s re-uploaded, I'll watch it again. Twice.

Actually the blowing things up line is actually from The Invisible Enemy the first K9 story
Doctor Who died a long time ago, it won't be coming back.
Subbed
With it over I am genuinely curious on what you consider to be the best thing from the chibball era?
The visual effects were pretty neat sometimes I guess, also I did like Bradley Walsh's performance throughout series 11 and 12

Not with Whittaker it couldn't. Then again, without Chibnall we'd have had no Whittaker in the first place.
