Though the Gyatt missed combat in the Second World War, it did have significance to the navy, such as being the first destroyer to be fitted out with Anti-Ship Missiles (ASM) in 1956, and served in many space-program related missions, such as operation Saturn. Eventually the Gyatt was decommissioned in 1969 and sunk as a target in practice in 1970. (I'm not joking look this up, real Ship)
