"Is it your thumb or mine" is such a fucking haunting thing for a child to say, she delivered that so good holy shit

At least it isn't true.

How?
In the Fallout games, the 'vault boy' bobbleheads grant specific attributes or skills. You will see her doubt herself throughout, but she perks back up when she sees the 'Vault Boy' mascot anywhere. She then continues her adventures as if it gave her a boost to press on.
Bro is copy pasting this everywhere 😅, I respect it
No wonder the ghoul(cooper) shot that vault boy she was staring at
@@EsclipseaBoy got to be his own town crier, ain't nobody gonna do it for him. 😂
do you even actually watch these reactions or are you just like farming by copying and pasting this same comment on every react video
@@carlasejas5280that’s not why he shot him lol
The little girl in the opening of this is such a good actress. I did not expect to be so heart broken by just the expression on her face. She sold the terror of it so well.
I’m pretty sure the gun that Lucy is using is called a Syringer, basically shoots random ass syringes at enemies.
its just a tranquilizer gun but thatd be cool
@@josh7352 Not sure there's a difference lol. Does the exact same thing except it's not a rifle.
OP was right. That's definitely a syringer but modded into a pistol.
@@DinkLover69 from what i understand, the syringer was made post-war in the wasteland with the exception of one of the vaults in fallout 4 where the doctor gives it to you. however, the tranquilizer gun cannot be a variant because all their equipment is post war and strictly from the indoors.
@@josh7352 Makes sense I suppose, just a name for a specific dart gun. Hers' is probably even better since it's not wasteland junk. :P
Nuke survival psa. If you see an explosion, do not jump into a body of water. Water actually amplifies concussive force.
Yup. Instead of being hit with a blanket going the speed of sound, you get hit with what is basically a brick wall.
Damn lol I mean that makes sense but damn
Not to mention if you are in the thermal radiation zone, jumping into a body of water isn't going to do you much good. In fact, the water might boil off and cook you before anything else lol plus this is disregarding you'd be vaporized instantly inside that distance as it is.
a nuke is going to vaporize the water before youd react
@@LordLOCto be fair to the show. In the fallout universe Nukes aren’t as strong as they are in our world. That’s why they dropped so many of them.
"Everything is going to be fine, Billy" *Videos cuts to a guy getting his throat cut*
Fun fact about the nuclear bombs in Fallout. They are designed different from modern nukes irl. According to the classic lore, these are designed to be less powerful in raw explosive force but instead focus on making the land more radioactive.
Yeah they are basically just like Neutron Bombs which exists in real life. But that being said the radiation from nuclear bombs in the fallout universe are heavily overdramatized for the sake of the story.
Edit: larger neutron bombs
@@nightly3225 No, Neutron bombs are...different, meant to take out armoured columns actually :)
In Fallout they used LOTS of small "ground burst" nukes which in real life produces WAY more radiation, then add in all the nuclear power cars etc, you get LOTS of long lived fallout
It was a deliberate policy, to wipe out the enemy's civilization
@silverbladeTE Davy Crocket, anyone? 😅
@@jonnyv5428 lol yup, that damn thing's "neutron shower" had a much wider fatality than it's blast radius, ugh!
the firing crew HAD to fire it from the crest of hill so they could duck behind it or get their DNA cooked, eek!
True neutron bombs emphasized that ability, but by that time, tank armour and non-nuclear tech had advanced so much, it made neutron bombs not worth the trouble
What most folk do not understand, and our governments deliberately supressed, is that comparatively few folk will die quick and fast,
as that the thermal pulse from large hydrogen bombs is MUCH bigger than their lethal blast radius (so you suffer terrible burns)
And the firestorms and fallout would kill WAY more people than a "quick fry/squish" death
~
Major cities with military targets would get hit by multiple nukes, so almost no one would survive because the firestorms would engulf the entire region in minutes and suck up all the oxygen
~
Current nukes though tend to be smaller and cleaner, also, much less of them today than in the 70s/80s, but if yer in or near LA, London, Washington etc...yer stuffed
32:11 I don’t known if this was an intended game reference but using your companions for packmules is classic Fallout
I was laughing like crazy when they first showed the Squires being the gear bitch, the writers definitely knew what they were doing with the fan service
Bruh I was wondering why they gave him so much to carry then I'm like oh wait I did the exact same thing loading my companions with junk while I'm over here relaxing on power armor 😂😂😂
And it's designed to be carried like the strong back perk
i mean thats what a squires job is in real life tho. They carry and take care of their knights shit (in addition to getting trained to become one themself)
This is probably one of the best nuke scenes in media. Idk why, but it really stuck with me
For me, it was Janey. "Is it your thumb . . . or mine?"
Right up there with the Nuclear Nightmare from Terminator 2
The sheer inevitability of it
To be fair, if most people track back their family tree about 200 years or so, there is often a common ancestor. They have been in the vault for 200+ years.
Pretty much every vault is some social experiment, and I'm pretty sure vaults 31, 32 and 33 are connected as part of the experiment
It's not always a social experiment, it can be biological experiments and medical experiments, and maybe something else I don't know about (I'm not very good at Fallout lore).
Yes and no. Keep watching.
@@albundy7459 You don't need to tell me, I've beaten every game so far
@@phoenixsoren this vault isn’t part of any game. That’s why it’s different. There is no experiments there.
@@phoenixsorenso, why are you talking out of your ass like you know how this show is going to pan out 😂
They are nailing it so far. You can really feel the dystopian atmosphere, and Walton Goggins is fantastic as the Ghoul. That impressive make up is all practical too. I can't wait for more.
That's pretty impressive for all practical.
For a show this big in scope, the amount of practical effects they use is super impressive and refreshing. You can tell even the armor suits are mostly practical, plus a lot of the sets (or at least a blend of mostly practical). Loving it. Goes such a long way in the world feeling real
Except his missing nose.
@@RealBLAlley Actually thats practical too. Goggins chopped it off for the role.
@@Metaphorically7 Christian Bale: I'm the most dedicated to my roles

As someone who was a kid during the tail end of the cold war, atomic bombs were not a terribly difficult concept to grasp for a child.
Growing up in the 80's I was afraid of nuclear war and/or WWW 3.
@@John_Locke_108Now you can be afraid of it again 😀
@@zem7127 Doubley afraid because now I have kids.
Just watched episode 1 & 2 and I've never played the Fallout games however I am absolutely loving the vibe of this show and the scale, dystopian atmosphere and grim reality is so good. Walter Goggins, Aaron Moten and Ella Purnell all do a fantastic job.
I’d recommend playing fallout 4, it’s a good time.
New Vegas has the best writing of the whole franchise.
New Vegas for sure. The only thing 4 has over NV and 3 is gunplay. Don’t even look at 76 lmao. It’s gotten better but.. a few steps above absolute trash is still.. trash.
Same.
Kinda reminds me of Nuka Break.
I know it's old school as hell and requires some tinkering. But you should also consider Fallout 1 and 2 after the modern games, timeless classics. It's really interesting watching the style and atmosphere evolve alongside the series.
Re: Bunker People.
I looked into how many people we would need to have to have a safe population and avoid inbreeding (because I was looking at info for space colonies), and we'd need a minimum of 5,000 unrelated people /mated pairs starting out to have a safe population. With space colonization, we could probably start out with less so long as we planned to keep resupplying and adding new colonists. But if you're not getting new people in regularly, you need a population of 5,000.
If you want to check an interesting real life case of a small population, native Icelanders are apparently closely related to about 50 percent of the population. They essentially have an app to help you avoid hooking up with your cousin, so that you can check that you're not too closely related.
you have to enforce population control otherwise you would over crowd. so enforcing genetic protocols would also be part of that
Damn guys. You called thw raiders. Yall smart as fuck. That was quick.
It took me until I saw the tattoo’s and the scaring on one of the raiders. “Oh no”

plot twist here tho
the first and second games show how massive the vaults on the west coast were shown to be in lore ads. as for the airship the BOS had many and they were sent to explore the wastes but most were lost in a storms via the starting of the game fallout tactics. by the time of fallout 4 there is at least one in Boston
I thought Tactics wasn't cannon?
@@melrenee5416 it's semi cannon the Mojave brotherhood talks about a rouge BOS group in Chicago or Denver I believe. So the events of tactics may not be true
You want to be in two places when a nuke goes off, ground zero or nowhere near it.
The sheer, overwhelming horror you guys have for some of those kills is amazing, funniest shit.
To be honest, I was feeling a similar bit of horror. The kills here were pretty visceral in how painful they looked.
The entire chapter is amazing, but the expression on the poor litle girl... the fear, wow... you are four minutes in and you know already that the show is going to be something.
I believe that version of the junk gun was called The Rock It Launcher
No it looked more like the junk jet
Rock It Launcher in Fallout 3, but it looks more like 4’s Junk Jet
"I've got a brand on my hand from when I was 18 and I was drunk and stupid"
"But did you get a mech suit out of it?"
Probably one of the funniest exchanges between you guys I've heard
they absolutely nailed the aesthetics of the game

Ghoul: your NPC companion, because companion does'nt die.
I know absolutely nothing about Fallout, but this show already looks good!
Lucy's story so far in episode 1 is exactly what I'd expect the intro sequence for a Bethesda Fallout game would be, but maybe more sex than they'd let the PC do.
It's basically the intro of Fallout 3. But we skip Lucy's childhood and get her SPECIALs and skills established ahead of time.
1:39 that got me. All I’ve done is watch my nephew play the games and even I knew that was a great joke.

The Prydwen class airships are mobile command centers designed and built by the Brotherhood and is based on pre-war tech. The Prydwen itself is the personal command ship of Elder Maxson, leader of the Brotherhood.
Wrong the Prydwen was wiped out by the Railroad who gave the tech cult what they deserved.
@@WhenInDarknessSeekTheLight depends on which way you go with the story and also I never said it wasn't. My comment was just a general explanation of the vessels and their purpose because there is more than just one airship..
@@WhenInDarknessSeekTheLightbro none of the endings are explicitly canon, that's the ending you got
Dude fully pulled off the 'Naked man'. Mad props even to a raider.
I think they are going to dabble with the Wizard of OZ a little. (would be fitting since MGM made Wizard of OZ movie back in the day and Amazon bought them and is using MGM to make Fallout)
BOS squire - Tin man, Ghoul - Scarecrow, Vault Dweller - Dorthey. And we know there will be a scientist and a dog (The wizard and Toto). All we need is something to cover the Lion.
Can confirm it does work depending on the situation 👀 12:17
Hmu :)
those first 5 minutes of the show were completely amazing, both of them the daugther the father even thoy a vet, could not comprehend what is happening, everything you know is just getting destroyed right before your eyes...... this thing was a fucking warning call..... i was with the family when i saw the show was out, and put the 1st chapter thinking it would be pure bombastic and meme show, but the 7 of us were in awe at what was happening, and it got worse by the minute as more bombs started to detonate.... what an amazing scene, thou the show is not on par to this lvl of shock, this scene deserves praise for the showrunners and the actors.
what a fun reaction from you guys! I think y'all are the only ones I've seen who caught that Norm knew the vibes were off. Instant subscribe!
I just realized Norman is Rico from Hannah Montana 😂
Yep, when i watched it i was like "I know this mf"
I couldn't remember his name the whole show, just kept saying "Yeah, GET EM RICO" I
Oh fuck my favorite character 🎉 i loved this guy so much
I haven't played the Fallout games much, but I could instantly tell there's something wrong with the guys from the other vault, but you couldn't tell if they were raiders from the top or really just had a very hard time inside their vault and needed some help to get back on their feet. Very good cinematography imo, of course I missed everything they did "wrong" since I don't know the game lore that well.
The Rock-It Launcher was great fun.. yeah, junk cannon. The order you load everything in is the order it fires.. forks, knives, spoons.. and if you load it will pool-balls they actually behave properly like a cannon ball instead of veering off based on what you launch, same with tin cans of beans
It just seems everyone is trying to get ahead in this world.
Funniest commentary EVER!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 I was literally laughing out loud watching you guys react and I've never seen your sht before! Please do more!!
I just started playing Fallout 4 and it's good so far, my husband has played all the games and he loves them.
You can see it in the intro for Fallout 4, los Angeles really got hit without warning, the scene just gave me chills
Edit: Also, Vault 33, 32 and 31 are a one of a kind type of vault systems, designed by Vault Tec, every other Vault is built seperately
Fun fact: the first two episodes are directed by Christopher Nolan's brother, Jonathan Nolan, who also directed Westworld.
Underrated channel. Top tier content fellas
Watched episode one my only two small nitpicks are. A) little too much slow motion. And B) I really wanted to have the vault door have that horrible ear piercing metal on metal scraping. Other than that I love it and lost my shit at the junk gun😂
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter
You guys should watch the show called the house of mouse
The cousin thing is an American prejudice (great-cousins is allowed in the USA though), odd sicne there were far fewer settlers as a base population and people from different countries usualy only married amongst themselves, same way as the Azkenazi Jews did in Eastern Europe. In Europe, marriage and procreating among cousins is legal. It's making kids with your siblings that's not allowed due to incest laws. Bu for humans, the starting number you need for a genetically viable population has been estimated by geneticists as 350 adults. At least that was roughly the number of Polynesians who arrived in and settled Hawaii or New Zealand, as clan records record the number of shipsthat arrived and only a limited number of people plus lifestock plus seeds fit on those ships.
Bro felt the need to defend that, gross.
27:09
"So is that like all the different Vaults?"
No. Normally, a Vault is standalone, 100+ spread throughout the U.S.
In Fallout 1, the player starts out in Vault 13 on the west coast. In Fallout 3, player starts out in Vault 101 near D.C. in Fallout 76, its a Vault in Pennsylvania iirc. In all the games you encounter a few of the different Vaults in the game area.
In the case of the show, Vaults 31, 32, and 33 are all connected together via tunnel. Most arent like that. The tunnel between 32 and 33 is what Muldaver blew up. This scene is just a central shaft showing many levels.of Vault 33.
The actor for lucy's brother is apparently rico from hannah montana
3:22 I need that picture framed on my wall
I'm hearing really good things about Fallout the series. Fallout is also a fun game😂😂😂It's definitely overwhelming for sure at first just like most RPGs
That Pompei scene is a bit wrong. The bodies in Pompei were not preserved as bodies but only as bubbles of empty space under the ashes. The actual bodies to be seen in Pompei are of plaster that was poured in the cavities by archeologists, the original bodies had simply evaporated and the body shaped bubbles were all that remained.
ahem the plaster casts were done because the biological remains had deteriorated. in a nuke fire the body is carbonized and the blast wave after just blasts the charred body into dust. if the pressure wave was deflected by a building than a carbonized body could still be there depending upon the weather conditions after.
@@toomanyaccounts Was checking the Hiroshima accounts and you are right. Still...such a remaining body is not completely carbonized, mainly on a surface. Completely carbonized body crumbles into white ashes as observed in Hiroshima. Anyway, you are correct, such a scene is possible for people around the epicenter but not directly in it (surface carbonization). Still...the carbonization is acompanied with radioactive decay and I am not sure any of these bodies would be still there/intact after 200 years. In Pompei the bodies were burried under hot lava and ashes leaving mostly empty bubbles after them. These bubbles are what kept the body shapes intact otherwise there would be no remains left at all. I am not sure there would be anything left of the carbonated bodies after 200 yrs as this carbonization is a decay process and not a preservation one. But it´s just a movie show and it plays with a scenario that is not so deeply explored to say it is not possible, especially with different types of bombs and conditions. But even though I feel the scene is a bit questionable for me a) it´s not a big deal given the lack of scientific info b) the show is good anyway :)
@@tomaskoptik2021 well you only saw a few and around what looked building foundation walls.. the vault 33 entrance may have had buildings around it to sort of conceal it that got blasted away.
@@toomanyaccounts I can live with that version :) It´s a movie and I can understand why these scenes are there. On top of that...there is really no solid proof it cannot be like that so in the end... why not :).
@@tomaskoptik2021
reality can often be weirder than fiction.
so a few bodies remaining centuries later as an solid ash figure out of the lets say hundreds of millions to billions of people that were carbonized is not impossible. would have seen lots more of them in the first years after the nukes before weather etc destroyed the ash body. Plus environmental conditions could have hardened the carbonized body.
Heck dead people sometimes in a year or two fossilize or mummify under the right environmental conditions than decay into a skeleton.
This is end of the world type shit.
I have the same Brownie camera from the beginning, it’s a Brownie Hawkeye from 1949-1961. Also Kyle Hill just did a video on the “rule of thumb” and it doesn’t work, if you’re too close, the heat would burn you instantly and the blast wave would reach you within seconds. And the razors in the boot haven’t made me cringe that hard since the nail scene in Home Alone
This first episode is so intense love it !
There’s sneak peeks at the end of the episodes after some credits.
