    At my Nikon D5500 it works out really great and good macro too. I use this lens 6 years now and never disappoint me. I had the Tamron 18-270 too, but I sell that one. Not get close to this one.
    Testing the Nikon and Sigma 18-300mm and they fail too. If you travel, take this 16-300 Tamron.

    Can I use it on my 5D mark 2

      Unfortunately, this lens is not compatible with Canon DSLRs with a full frame sensor like the 5D Mark II.

    I wonder if the zoom will stay stiff. My 18-270 has loosened up quite a bit since I bought it a few months back.

    Tamron 16-300 is the ideal daylight travel camera for cheaper APS-C bodies. It is not as sharp as a much much cheaper prime lenses. The super zoom benefit has its toll on sharpness. Certainly only usable for daylight photography. At long focal length during night the ISO will be raised to unacceptable levels. At 16-18 mm there are serious problems. Short focal lengths are very optically challenging even for prime lenses. For me is better to spent a little more money for a really usable at all situations 24-70mm zoom lens. 24-70 is ultra wide and a little telephoto. Is better to crop a sharp clear photo from 24-70 lens afterwards than zooming with a soft 16-300 lens. However most people avoid image processing and a already framed and processed JPEG file is all that is needed. For them the 16-300 is unique in the market. Certainly better choice than buying a compact super zoom bridge camera which has a tiny problematic image sensor.

    Does it work with Canon 500D

    The ultimate lens for the undemanding amateur. Fit it and never take it off again. Just make sure your camera body handles very high (> 3200) ISO well; you're going to need it!
    Get this lens or one like it when you buy your first DSLR camera body. At the end of two or three years, collate your EXIF data and decide from that what primes or limited-focal-range (but faster, higher quality) zooms you need to buy.

    thank you for your video, despite of all good features with this lens, do you think it is trustable lens for high quality and sharpness like canon 24-105 f4 on canon 70d?

      While the Tamron 16-300mm lens is a great option for an all-in-one, it won?t have the optical quality or build of the 24-105mm f/4. No all-in-one is going to be overly sharp or consistent throughout its entire range. This is simply the nature of a lens with this type of range: you are trading some optical quality for the convenience of not needing to change lenses. *Christina* askbh@bandh.com

      @mrz1342 9 лет назад

      you mean all-in-one without optical quality and sharpness VS non-all-in-one lens with high optical quality! with this logic, i should think for my 70D setting 3 lenses in my gear (16-35 + 24-105 +70-200) to gain very sharp and convincible photos VS very simple and light bag including camera and just Tamron 16-300 but not expecting good dynamic ranges and stunning sharpness! right?

      mrz 1342 Yes, as long as you are aware that the trade out is convenience over quality then you're right. - Yossi

    How does image quality compare with canon 15-85mm?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  7 лет назад

      Image quality would be fairly comparable. The Canon would be a touch sharper (really only noticeable if highly magnified on a computer), and AF a touch faster (again fraction of a second). I would tend to lean towards the Tamron in this case. I think it would be a better value for the cost.

    Hi B&H. I was wondering if you could help with an issue I have. I recently bought the Tamron 16 to 300 mm lens. I own a Canon 55 to 250 STM lens. I was recently testing the sharpness between these two lenses and noticed that the focal length of the Tamron is actually shorter than the Canon, even though Tamron claim there telephoto focal length is 300mm, it is actually less than my canon at 250mm. When I compared it against my canon lens the Tamron is actually equal to the canon lens at 200 mm focal length which is rather puzzling. Do you know if Tamron and Canon measure their focal lengths differently? They were both used on the same camera Canon 70 D, so should be very similar in focal length. Tamrons lens is actually a 16 to 200 mm when compared with my Canon at least. Just wondering if you noticed this during your tests. Or have ever come across this before when comparing lenses. Thanks Jamie

      +JPN • Focal length is a measurement of when a photographic lens is set to "infinity", its rear nodal point is separated from the focal plane, by the lens's focal length. Objects far away from the camera then produce sharp images on the sensor or film. A 50mm lens for example would have its nodal point 50mm’s away from the focal plane at infinity. Focal length, image magnification and field or view [FOV] are all proportional to one another but not necessarily equal from one optical formula to another. Only the focal length itself is uniform from lens to lens. - Yossi

    can you tell me if this lens is good also for wedding event, party, group photos.etc..?..thanks

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 лет назад

      +Roland Lapinig It’s great that the lens offers a broad range of focals to choose from. In that respect it is useful for weddings and parties etc. However I wouldn’t recommend this lens for those types of applications if you are looking to earn your income from the shoots. With lenses like this, the broader the zoom range, the greater the propensity for the lens to lack sharpness and contrast (when compared to lenses with a narrower overall zoom range at similar focals). If you’re shooting leisurely as a guest or at an occasional event it would be fine to use. Yossi O

    I wanted to ask, I want to choose a lens on the Nikon system! What advice of two lenses Nikon 18-200mm and this Tamron 16-300mm? Which lens is better optical performance and picture quality? Thanks

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 лет назад

      +Filushka - I would actually suggest looking at the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Lens. It’s about the same price as the Nikon 18-200mm lens, and I find that it has the superior optical quality to both the Tamron 16-300mm and Nikon 18-200mm lenses. And with Nikon’s build quality, the lens should age better than most third party options in the same focal range. *Christina* AskPhoto@bhphoto.com

    Whats this lens like with a flash being used on a flash bracket? Reason I ask is I work as a photojournalist and I use a flashgun on 95% of my assignments

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 лет назад

      +mcladrifter Using this lens with a flash bracket could pose some challenges. When the lens is full extended it would throw the weight off center a bit. Additionally this lens has a variable maximum aperture. When you zoom the lens will automatically stop down the aperture, so if your flash is in manual mode you would find yourself making more adjustment to the flash, taking your hand away from the shutter button. In static situations this wouldn’t necessarily be an issue, but it would slow you down a bit. *Andrea

    • @mcladrifter
      @mcladrifter 8 лет назад

      I'm using the Yongnuo YN560-II for my flashes, so I have no option but to use them manually, most of my flash work is vertical with it, so the flash is overhead, rather than to the right of me.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 лет назад +1

      +mcladrifter With manual flash you'd want to take into consideration what was noted above. Position of the flash would not have any bearing on the need to make more flash adjustments because of the nature of lens. You may want to consider using a TTL flash instead. *Andrea

    Can this fit with my Sony a6000 and can your site transfer it to Simferopol cremia russia

    • @BandH
      @BandH  9 лет назад +1

      This lens is designed for the Sony A mount, and the A6000 has the new ?E? mount. It would therefore require the Sony LAEA4 adapter. See the two links below for the requirered adapter and the lens. ?Yossi

      I agree but at some point on this video, he stated that in 16mm, there was a chromatic aberration problem towards the edge of the frame. Furthermore, he also stated about how the stiffness of the zoom ring and the built quality of this lens. But that just the review of it sadly :\

      Yeah. :( Not worth it for me because I already have a name-brand 18-250 and getting the extra 50mm just isn't worth it for the cost, but anyone with a Pentax body, cash to spare and no wide-range zoom could do with one of these.
