Great review, Toby. I enjoy your review style. I did reviews of the trio of Tamron superzooms for each system (FF, APS-C, and Mirrorless) last summer and just did the 18-200 VC a few weeks ago. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for this review that I've been waiting for seemingly forever! I am currently in the market for this lens. I have a Sony Nex 5n and recently bought an LA-EA4 adapter to Sony A mount lenses. I have tested this with a Tamron 200-400 Lens and liked the results. Great review.

Great review and yes the Tamron just has much more features. The 16mm vs 18mm to me just that alone on the wide end is much better on a nikon which really equals 24mm with the 1.5 crop. Also being able to change your focus on the focus ring without swithing back and forth with the swithes is a no brainer. And many other features that you described.

Damn, I have been saving since May 2014 and finally decided to get the Sigma 18-300 mm due to the price difference between the Tamron 16-300 mm. I thought I would not notice the difference between 16 mm and 18 mm. Now my trusted photographer,Toby, shot holes in my decision. I believe in the end I will enjoy the Sigma. However this was a very informative comparison, Thank you very much..
Thank you so much for a review easy to understand for non professional photographers as well as non native speakers. It helped me a lot with my decision, especially the remark with moisture as I will use the lens on a trip to Asia with high humidity.

Thanks for the review. About the focusing distance, it's measured from the sensor to the subject, not from the front of the lens to the subject. Cheers dude
