2 tests are missing for Adaptive Headlights: oncoming traffic and following traffic. In both cases the lights should create a dark spot that follows (or covers) the cars, while the high beams should still remain on.
This could be tested on the motorway (the following part). Oh wait, I forgot. Norway has streetlights on the motorway. (which is kind of unnecessary light pollution).
@@colla555 yeah coming from a southern country, i hate when i drive in northern countries because of the lamp posts on the motorway, i see worse because of them, not better, and it's a waste of energy and unnecessary pollution.
@@M4XC4V413R4 what kind of pollution?
@@bnkh Well, we're talking about lamps, so let's see... There's light pollution for one, and since that light requires electricity and countries don't produce energy with 100% renewables, there's at least air pollution too.
But honestly I was mostly talking about the light pollution.
Thanks! This explains my doubt. Noticed the high-beam remained on (the Odometer showed the 'A' with the lamps symbol turned blue) and was wondering whether I am putting the oncoming drivers at risk but clear now.
Every time I wonder what the people who live in the house above the intersection think when Björn does his high beam test there? 😜😂😜✌ Following from minute 4:50.
Glad that the FLAT handling check went well, Frog Lifesaving Avoidance Test.
Thanks for the Video Björn. Nice lights. We have the full light option ordered. Great.
Alltid kul att se dina ljus tester👍 Headligt washer is very good up here in north🌨️
Bjorn thank you for the Enyaq headlight test. I hate crappy headlights and they are nearly the first thing I upgrade in a new car. I'm wondering if you happen to have driven the Enyaq with the standard LED headlights as I'm changing my car in about 14 months time and the Enyaq is first on my list but to upgrade the headlights to full matrix is an extra €1200 . Not sure it's worth it at that price. Anyway I enjoy your videos and information you give on what your driving. Have a great great Christmas to you and your wife as next year it'll there'll be someone extra in the family. Enjoy these months that are left as once the little one joins the family, damn time flies 🤣🤣
Quite good I think but a bit more light on the left when cornering would be nice. I do like LED though, I cannot drive with halogen any more, its like driving with candles by comparison to led.
As always, nice video. Maybe do the light test where trees are closer to the road? Then it might be easyer to see the spread and distance? Did the lights tilt down when its in reverse? Of topic, do you have a buyer for your second Roadster?
I agree the beam looks strong, maybe not wide enough in some cases... But dry roads appear brighter, that might bias our perception.
Octavia mk 4 had similar matrix lights and they are very good and work well . Sometimes they dont like oncoming cars with poor lights and they switch to the highbeam back and then later switch back. We have In Estonia allmost same long dark time from autumn to spring.
Both the standard and matrix headlamps were developed here in czech by Hella. Also the rear combination lamps...ID 4 lighting was done by somebofy else, my guess warroc or other competitor.
Interesting. That explains the difference. I prefer the ID.4 lights. They are so fast reacting in turns.
It feels like it’s directed a little bit too much to the right. Which in a sense is how it should be, but a tad too much. So much so that left hand turns are way worse in terms of illumination than right hand turns. Can it be adjusted?
Could it be that the driver’s side is not as high so not to blind drivers in front like many other cars?
Maybe, a good comparation video for non-expert lightning audience could be half screen with one car and the other half-screen with other car on the same route. Very basic but effective
A bit tricky to sync.
@@bjornnyland a specific part of the road/trip at 30 kph should give the same piece of video. Giving you the ability to make additional headlight comparison videos. But I do not know if many people watch the present headlight video, for it to make sense.
@@bjornnyland I believe that in other test I have seen that the sensitivity of the headlights can really be adjusted in three levels.
I know you like numbers mr.bjørn, get a lux meter :) then you have some number to show us
Please test Matrix Situations
Bjørn avoided 2 animals...! The frog - and the fly on its tonque 😂
Would be nice to see them having to deal with traffic.
Doesn't look like the lights steer left or right in bends (comparing to BMW adaptive LED?)
Old school winter cleaning, Just stop and find some fresh snow to clean the headlights with.
Sounds like fun, give me a call next time you have a Salt-Schmutz-Fest!
Nice lights not the best but ok.
Another farm test 👍
What if youre going to Engeland?
good one saving the toad!
Some time ago I have read article about Skoda matrix lights. VW stop sharing top technology with Skoda, so Skoda develop matrix lights own way.
Weekly UFO mission D.O.N. 😃
Try at your new house location. I think people want you make headlight comparison video.
"I drive a Tešla" :D
Very good? The best?
My thoughts are messed up..The left side seems to miss a certain spread. It looks different then Audi and VW. I do not like it so much.
Some of it could be lights needing an adjustment
Someone in here said that Hella did the ID.4 (ID.3).and a competitor the Enyac.
These lights are OK for a car in its price range, but that's it. Not in the same league as the Mercedes or BMW.
Regarding whether to change the test, I think this is the best test you can do for regular cars. However, the day you test the iX/i4, the new S-class, or any other car with laser lights you'll need to have a road with a long enough stretch without curves to be able to see the full effect. This might apply to testing other cars with adaptive led lights as well though 🤔
Skodas Matrix LED beats the BMW laserlight when it comes to range and light intensity in this test: ruclips.net/video/iElE9_RFDGA/видео.html
@@storapa If you live in Oslo let me know and I can take you for a ride to check out the BMW's laser lights. We'll see if you think the same after that. I've seen that test, but not even Audi's Matrix LED's beat BMW's adaptive LED or Laser lights, so I doubt Skoda is even close to doing it. If we use Bjorn's test as reference, there's not way they do. Just check out the iX3's lights test, which has only LED lights, and you'll see.
@@eddie8742 Fair point, if I was in the market for these cars I wouldn't trust a youtube video but rather lend the cars from local dealers. Can't take you up on that offer right now as I'm in Sweden.
I usually drive in the city, so highbeam performance is not on my list of important features (pretty sure I had my last car for over a year before even engaging highbeam. Had to think for a second where the stalk was located! 😅). Used to live on the countryside, so I understand that it matters to others.
First! 💡

ABC - Amphibians Become Crushed - unless it’s Bjørn ...
I got my ENYAQ last week and the lights are much more sensitive: When a roadsign reflects the light, it blends down in that area. That's a huge difference to what is shown in this video. Maybe the camera of that car wasn't adjusted correctly.
He stated that this is a model without Matrix LED
@@BlackStoneMoviesMinecraft I think you took something wrong. Standard LED light doesn't turn when turning wheel or do that effect when turned on high beam. So these are Matrix LED light. Actually he even said that he should test Matrix part on highway 1:12.
But what Dave said might be if they updated light software after this video or signs where he drive are more reflective.
Enyaq VS BMW IX3. Which had the best light?
Enyaq
@@bjornnyland :’(
Very good as usual with VW
Is it just me or does the light spread in corners not cover as much or as fast as the id4 max? Tried to compare and it seems the id4 lights the turns/corners better, but it’s hard to tell
No, I think you're right. It reacts faster and with better spread. One commenter said that it was Hella that the did the lights for the ID.4 (ID.3) while Skoda has uses a competitor.
@@nakfan exact
Can any tell me why the automatic headlight is speed dependent?
If u get of the road like the last piece home if u drive 30 km/h then u have to switch over and set the high beam..
Tesla has automatic headlight in all speeds. It doesn't work but anyway 😎
No Animals Were Harmed in the Making of This Film :p :p
I HATE these lights. It's like a cinema curtain opening. WTF. and 60 why kmh? Shiiiiit
yes 6:00
Looks like nothing special :(
@@pasad335 why so?
This is a standard headlight, not Matrix LED headlight.
@@Kalvarija because of the antiquated DOT law that protects the domestic carmakers (GM, Ford, etc) from the european carmakers having the superior technologies such as the Matrix LED headlight, Laser headlight, etc.
@@edgy21 This is the iV80, which has LED Matrix as standard.
@@TheSweMusicMan Well, it looks different. Maybe the matrix function is disabled. See the video showing full function of Enyaq's matrix LED: ruclips.net/video/kIPZ4aBKXYg/видео.html
i don't like head lights whit there own mind lol
