My advice for what it’s worth is to forget the first gen EVs because by the time you have spent time and parts there is no profit left. Also forget selling new cars because they are in race to the bottom. Instead there is a massive market for ex lease 2,3,4 year old cars. You will come back stronger so good luck. You have the good reputation and that counts for a lot.
Marcus, stay strong… you will turn it over and get back to the top again.

Been through that journey myself, it is truly soul crushing when you get that feeling that all you have left is the memory of that enormous amount of hours and energy you put into the business, and all you have left are the debts. It took me years to recover mentally (and the financial bit will take until my retirement...). On the flip side, time heals all wounds and you also begin to see the positives, not the least all you have learned through the journey and all the good memories.
And you did take the chance to begin with, and that takes courage (and probably some craziness) that few have.

I remember millennium falcon damage, and the Fiat 500, ordered Tesla 3 8 years ago, delivered 5 years ago first week of UK deliveries, no service at all and still passed MOT last week. Marcus is a good guy

Cars need more and more expensive special parts, tools and software to diagnose and repair. Its a sad market trend where we eventually wont own what we own, just in theory. Support Right to repair!

Marcus, Bjorn, these are trying days for many around the world. Friendships are long-lasting. Both of you will work it out and come out of this much better for the experience. I like the idea of new opportunities. Coming to the USA to test a Tesla cyberber truck will give you a totally different focus on the American problem of infrastructure inadequateness. You would give a great contrast from the European standpoint. I'm sure television stations would be interested in your perspective. We need the king of road trips to awaken and shake up the greatest obstacle to our continued adaptation, non-working stations and vandalism, costing travelers and operators much money and anxiety. Our charging deserts is another aspect which has been mostly solved in Europe in comparison to the USA. In any case,. If you make it here we welcome you and your team to visit as many places as you can.

The unintended consequences of Tesla cutting their sticker prices (and everyone else cutting their prices on new and s/h cars to match them); and the reason EVs lose so much value in the first few years.

Here in Sweden, electric car sales never really got off the ground. Demand has fallen due to inflation. Those who buy electric cars in Sweden make the best deal with Tesla as they sold cars without interest. The green transition has slowed down, for example Siemens was very negative last year due to solar cells. However, I think that will change. I know that the market for electric cars in Norway is more saturated. The Swedish Krona has strengthened against the Norwegian. Within 1-2 years, car sales will start here in Sweden; would be fun if you were a part of it.

With tesla cutting prices on new cars 1,5-2 years ago there was no point for me buying a used one. I got mine in March 23 and remember that in some cases used were more expensive than a new ones.
Reorganise, rethink but don't let the name slip away. Marcusbil is a brand. You'll figure it out and the name will prevail

I hope Marcus can move to a more virtual model or maybe be a personal shopper for customer like someone would do for real estate. I hope the best. As far as FSD Beta it used to be an indefinite ban. Many had been forgiven as time went on. Now if you get kicked out 3 to 5 times you lose it for a week or so. After a while the bad marks get removed with good FSD driving. I've still yet to get one but I've come close with how it tracks looking at screen or sun in my face.
I had this unfortunate situation in my family long ago. The debt will keep hanging on your neck like forever.
Perhaps you and Marcus could do some type of tour or drive. Sell tickets for people to fly In, rent a car, and you, Marcus, and the group take a several day road trip together. Maybe to some scenic drives or something. Could be a good profit stream for both of you, but also gives viewers willing to do it a chance to meet and hangout with Bjorn while he acts as a tour guide for Norway.

I did try to book rental through you for 2000km…, after lots of chasing/emails, for months, eventually you referred me to a rental company…,and fine since but very stressful for months as no communication from your guy, etc… got a model Y from Bislet and all good.

Sometimes people wants to import from Norway to EU used Tesla and other EVs. I think they need company in Norway to check if this is good Tesla or bad. Maybe this is some idea for Marcus to check used Tesla make then video about the condition of the car and then Export it but I must say that generaly in Europe marked for used EVs is also not the best. People are still afraid to buy EV.
Not really interesting. Norway isn't a member of EU so you have to pay customs fee, and of course VAT in your country.
Such very sad news 😢😢… I’m in Sweden and I strongly suspect you are one of many car dealerships that are suffering. I couldn’t get a car loan… so instead I switched to a car subscription… not sure who else does this other than NIO, but it means I am not affected with interest rate changes.

NIO cars if battery is like a service could be good business case for second hand ev, falling battery prices might not affect second hand NIO ev car prices - New traditional battery owned ev car with cheaper battery (and batteries could be falling in prices for decades to come) will be on the same price level like second hand 3 years old ev ( with price of the More expensive battery), maybe Renault was not much wrong about Zoe battery leases planning - just few thoughts, would be good to hear from someone debating this topic

Traditional rent a car compqnies do not now how to rent an EV. They are doing it wrong, mostly without chargin cards. Marcus maybe you can change this and rent EVs with all charging card nececery to be able to charge everywhere.

From one of previous Björn's videos, I was under the impression that loans in Norway are going at much higher rates than the rest of Europe, or the rest of the world.. Is that true?
Don`t know about elsewhere in Europe, but house loans in Norway are now around 5,8% Car loans will off course be more expensive, 2-3% more....
I think it's just a lack of perspective - interest rates are not high now. 10+ years of effective 0 interest was bad for the economy, we are closer to what "normal" would be.

all interest rates exists within a 'credit market', where the central banks establish a foundational policy rate. commercial banks charge retail customers a spread on top of that.
the norwegian central bank (norgesbank) policy rate is 4.5%, and the equivalent rate for the european central bank (ecb) is 3.75%.

I was amazed by Marcus’ ability to sustain what is quite evidently an unsustainable business model. That’s a pity because Marcus allowed Bjorn incomparable access to new cars, plus the ability to follow up on problematic cars like the green Plaid.
A sad story caused by a rapid changes in market and a weak Norwegian govornment. All I can think of is the Norwegian artist "Vestlandsfanden" (the devil of the land in the west) song title "For livets glade gutter går solen aldri ned" than in English should be "For the happy boys of life, the sun never sets"

I saved up a couple of years to get my first EV. This channel, among a few others, inspired me to the EV life. I’ve been watching a video or two a week during this time.
You know watching this, I'm so jealous of your road trafic condition, or lack thereof, over here you can't do 100 meters without some moron falling asleep at the wheel in front of you, or getting into a roundabout, or red lights, or guy tailgating you trying to break speed limits, etc. But this, is kinda relaxing. I hope I can go back to drive on roads like these one day.
EDIT: Also tesla steering wheel nag I'm pretty sure was mandated by some bs 'safety' agency ? As I recall elon musk wasn't too happy about it.. I'm surprised you haven't heard about that.

Hard to go green when interest and car costs are super high. I know you can get cheaper EVs but anything worth getting is 65k here in Ireland. Twice the price of a fossil. As such EVs sales are down. Sorry to hear about the company.
Close to 90% of all car sales in Norway are BEVs, so that is hardly the problem here.

This was interesting from a human interest perspective but the conversation raised some important questions about EVs sustainability. If running old Teslas is expensive then they are not sustainable. I have run a petrol car for 20 years and while it costs extra each year as things age the car was still reliable and economical to run during that time. If EVs are no good after the main warranty is out as implied then that is disastrous, or are we only talking about Model S and X? Buying new cars is interesting and amusing but at the end of the day it does nothing if the cars are too expensive to keep on the road. I would love to see content on keeping something like an UP running after ten years. This content could be in addition to the new cars. Long term cars might be owned by others, you could just do updates or chat to the owners to add a bit of human interest.
