Takk! What about the two Tesla roadster you deserve for Tesla referral? Resell value of these would easily sorted this cash problem. Maybe the absence of two roadster not coming create the problem in the first place, because I find it natural to calulate these big values (250k$ each) into the total, but the roadsters are never comming are they? or comming way to late for Bjorn at least. Telsa or Elon should be deasent enough to cash out the resell value of these Telsa roadsters for Bjorn. Bjorn is maybe the single most important contributer that saved Tesla in 2014 in their tougest financial times for Tesla. Reccord sales in Norway in 2014 and also the years to come soly because of Millenium Falcon videos from Bjorn proving that the TMS is capable of being the main Family car in Cold winters in Norway. I support you Bjorn! Let us not forget that Bjorn lend out all the chademo adapters he got from referral program when there was only a few SuperCharger in Norway. He could have sold them instead, but he rather contributed selflessly for the early ev comminuty. We owe Bjorn a helping hand her! Greeting from Oslo Norway😊

@@bjornnyland maybe you can get the bank to give you a loan on the tesla roadster elegebility hence you would have to give them the rights to sell it off but it would give them something tangible that they can lend against. Even if they only lend 20% on each car with that kind of collateral but it still might help you.
Maybe renting out the garage for some old car enthusiast who wants his cars at perfect tempreature this could give you a 3 year contract that you can lend against. If the renter has a good credit score the rental agreement is also something banks can lend against.
I really hope you will make it through this difficulties good luck!

A million euro home based on a single income coming from a 300k sub yt channel is insane to me. Taking out 15% loans to add stuff like outdoor pool and heated garage is completely beyond my comprehension. I love your reviews and tests that provide the most grounded data on Evs one can find on the internet. So it pains me to see you are so out of touch with reality when it comes to finances. You are living beyond your means and you need to act sooner rather than later. And an extra loan is not the answer

If you do you end up working for the material item just to keep it and you lose out on the enjoyment of life and spending time with your kids. If you cannot come up with the money by renting out rooms or garage space, taking another job, have wifey work etc., you have to cut your losses and sell the house for a more affordable place.

I agree with some comments here. Some things is better to keep private, financial problems, kids, where you live. So was better not to put this video on the internet. This is indeed bad budgeting and that for a guy that is good with numbers, that surprises me. It looks like you went on a spending spree, big house, swimming pool, expensive kitchen, two kids (because they costs also a lot of money) and that all at once. A swimming pool in Norway for those few weeks per year that it’s there hot enough? Really? that’s pure luxury, a waste of money if you ask me. Now comes the reality check. Cut costs and have discussion with the misses what you both can do about this situation. And if needed sell the house and live somewhere smaller, because the bigger the house the bigger the costs.

There's families that raise two kids in a 1 bedroom apartment where both parents work. A house that's over €1M with a heated pool is not needed and seems almost laughable compared to what most people are going through these days. You have no money for curtains but have a giant pool? Almost two grand on a shower wall? Priorities mate.

In Sweden we would say that you "live above your assets", meaning you have a lifestyle that you simply cant afford in the long run. Im a big fan of your channel and I have been watching for a long time, but honestly you have to start with your behaviour and change that first. Sure, more money now can maybe help you in the short run but not in the long run. You have a house most people could just dream of, but honestly you need to realize that also.
If most of your income today comes from youtube directly then im sure you can make more money from adlinks, sponsored videos, selling merch or whatever. Doing car and tech youtube is on the more profitable side compared to other genres.

I like your work and appreciate it a lot. But I'm seriously worried. You play a hero earning money for your family and wife's relatives. And you get no help from her side. She even doesn't know Norwegian and/or English. She never worked. She does nothing. And if shit happens she will be completely helpless. You don't help her by allowing her to do nothing. It's not a sign of love. You hurt yourself, her, and your kids this way. Take care and rethink your life before it's too late.

I doubt Bjørn is a controlling abusive husband refusing her to learn the language and work for a living. I bet it's more like the wife never had to work or learn the language because of Bjørns success, so why bother?
Well, this is probably why. If things go tits up, you better be able to pitch in. Easy to say in hindsight, though. Bank would've given another mill in mortgage loan *easy* to the wife if she had steady income.

This is not bailout money, it's just thanks for the countless hours of entertainment you have provided. When researching EVs I pretty much went through your entire back catalogue and finally settled on a used Model S, in large part due to you demonstrating how usable they can still be. I'm now on my second one.
While I agree with some of the comments in that you could have made better choices, it's not always easy to see that in the heat of the moment. Circumstances have also been unfortunate. So don't hit yourself too hard. Love from Finland.

This is such a bizzare video to watch.... Content itself and the way you choose to frame this shot.
I bought my apartment in 2019 and to this day, there are still some things missing because I simply did not have the money to buy them yet. Why did you prioritize building a pool of all things is beyond me. + all the weekend trips, eating out, etc...
If you really want to keep the house, sell some other assets if you have them. Try to get a new, longer loan (mortgage) to get the monthly payments down.
If not, sell the house. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GET ANOTHER LOAN., ESPECIALLY PRIVATE LOAN UNBELIVABLY EXTREMELY BAD IDEA!!

    A little something.
I'm really sorry to see you this tired and stress Bjørn. It sounds like an awful situation to be in. Having built a house my self, and having small kids I know a lot of the feelings you've been talking about. What I'm about to say might not feel great to hear, but know that it comes from a place of love.
You need to learn something from the first half of this video. "It was expensive, yes. But we felt we made the right choices." Bjørn. It sounds like you still haven't learned from your mistake. And still haven't realized where you went wrong. You need to stop defending the bad decisions and start taking responsibility. It took me 5 years to have most of the house/garage/yard finished, and I did a lot of it myself. Because I couldn't afford it any other way.
"I felt we kind of need this" If you can't afford it it doesn't matter what you feel.
The pool is there, its done. And sure, its energy efficient. But you can't afford that 1 euro per day to have it even warmer. So stop defending it. That is one euro that could go to pay the loan and it reflects poorly on you.
If you can't afford it you simply can't spend 100k on having the house painted. It would cost you 1/5 of that to do it yourself. (talking for experience) If you didn't have time, or if it would affect your video output I'm sure you could have gotten it done in an evening or to by arranging a dugnad/meet and greet. Buy the paint on sale, buy drinks and hotdogs, rent a scaffolding and invite some followers to help you out and maybe see some new EVs in person.
Sure, not having shower doors is inconvenient. But the reality is you can't afford to pay 50k to avoid that inconvenience .
Wardrobes is nice to have. Not a need to have. Elfa trådkurver can often be had for free on Finn and would do just OK for a couple of years.
You need to stop feeling and start using your spreadsheet ninja skills to calculate in stead. Reduce your expenses. Increase your income. Take the sponsored videos as long as it's a product you can stand by and you do it in a way that still maintains your credibility.
To end on a positive note, getting Isabell into kinder garden is going to be a gamechanger. So use that opportunity to take care of yourself as well. Kids don't need a big house, they need a loving father. Losing sleep to money and working at night does no good. I really hope you're able to find a solution.

This is a good idea, although he'd probably need to get about €200K so he can pay the taxes as well. And here RUclips takes 30% of the donations and, on top of that, he has to pay taxes on the rest. The GoFundMe is a good idea anyway, the best one given the circumstances aside from getting a direct loan from someone.

Bjørn, I remember coming across your summer 2014 Europe road trip video on a random night in autumn of that year, and from that moment on I was hooked to the idea of EVs and road-tripping in an EV.
Back in 2021, I finally bought a used classic Ioniq that has since safely and reliably transported our little family to many places in Europe. So I do feel I want to appreciate all the hard work you put into your channel and getting the word about EVs out there.
That said, I also advise you to accept you overstretched yourself with the house for now. You are already in an unhealthy position financially and making videos you thought you would never make and humiliating yourself (your words) will drive you into an unhealthy state mentally, too.
Take this video down to avoid word spreading that you are in a squeeze (which potential buyers will use to leverage you down on the price), put up the house for sale and downsize. You’ll recover mentally, emotionally immediately and financially in the mid- to long-term by doing so.
