One of the biggest benefits as viewers, besides the detailed analysis, is you having the Sony HX310 reference monitor to compare to. So whilst other reviewers are merely guessing on accuracy and whether or not these TV'e are accurately brighter/more colourful, or instead simply more exaggerated, you're able to not just tell, but show us. If anybody wants to get rid of most of the clunkiness in the home menu, disable Samsung TV Plus. Go to the icon, hold the select button, choose remove, then disable and it is a lot smoother.
    Horrific news about the S95C, might explain why my video is frequently cutting out when I'm playing high framerate games on PC, quick black screen every 5 minutes or so. I'll lower it to 120hz and see if it gets rid of the problem but I just plugged in my Series X and the same thing was happening though, but less frequent and shorter black screens.

    • @Capricorn_IV
      @Capricorn_IV Год назад +1

    • @ScottJ2024
      @ScottJ2024 Год назад +4

      @@grumpyragdoll2640 No, unrelated to pixel shift that I have turned off, and when I say quick black screen, it's 5-10 seconds on PC (with the TV even putting up a loading circle) and 3-5 seconds on Xbox. I'll take a video of it tonight but unfortunately can't find an example online even though I've seen hundreds of comments with the same issue.
      It still hasn't happened while using internal apps or USB, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the One Connect cable. Going to test turning off Game Mode tonight to see if it is an HDMI issue or game mode only issue. And then will adjust refresh rates and settings from there. Haven't seen TV experts really weigh in on this, but hoping I can find a workaround.

      @@ScottJ2024 You might wanna try disabling VRR on your HDMI connected for that PC since it's having trouble switching to a particular higher frame rate game mode. This is similar to some new gen console and LED/OLED HDR Tvs.

    • @ScottJ2024
      @ScottJ2024 Год назад +3

      @@linja3946 Yeah, that was on my list, I disabled Gsync from the Nvidia control panel but kept everything else the same, and I'm not getting blackouts. That would explain why I also got black screens from my Xbox considering that's a 40gbps device but has VRR, and why it's only happening in games and not when I'm scrolling around in Windows at 4K144hz. So S95C does appear to be capable of 4K144hzHDR gaming, but no VRR even at 120hz, as I still got blackouts. Can't tell if it's a software issue or hardware issue, but if it's been an issue with One Connect Box TVs for years like I'm reading, then I won't get my hopes up.
      I only got the 77S95C because of a massive discount that made it cheaper than the 77S90C, but I'm regretting not waiting for a good deal on that. Hopefully broken VRR is the only problem and is fixable, but with Samsung's firmware history, I'm not optimistic.

    Just got an S95C. On my Onkyo RZ50 receiver, initially it limits bandwidth to 18GBPS for all HDMI ports-- I believe this is the 4K Enhanced setting. This was causing HDMI sync issues on my Series X, PS5 and Apple TV as all were trying to use more bandwidth. I then set this to the 48GBPS setting (8K Enhanced) which also caused HDMI sync issues. Finally, I remembered this video where Vincent mentioned the S95C only supports 40GBPS. So I changed the setting in the receiver to 40GBPs (8K Standard) and now everything works without issue. I still get the occasional blip in the HDMI signal maybe once every 6-8 hours of viewing, but I think it might be more related to the HDMI cables I have than any issues with the TV or Receiver.

  • @Da-iken
    @Da-iken Год назад +12

    Edit: okay, sounds like the issue is not fixed with S95C. It can also have HDMI blackouts. But maybe it depends on HDMI bandwidth type in the model.
    OCB models from Samsung (like QN95A) had issues with HDMI blackouts for some seconds randomly (you will find many threads about it in different regions), specially while gaming. And i found, it was helpful to set it to limited on both, TV and device to avoid these issues (from my own experience). Why? It reduces the information, i think. So it is possible that Samsung reduces the bandwidth to reduce / avoid these hdmi blackouts. That was the reason for me not buy any OCB models and i switched to a 90 series without OCB. No issues with these hdmi blackouts. Maybe that´s why they decide to use only 40 gbps...

      Maybe try a different HDMI cable type (fiber optic hdmi cable for example), certified for 4k120.

This is ridiculously bad from Samsung. If it wasn’t for the fact that my TV was literally half the price of any deal you could get on a 77 G3, or if I paid anywhere near full price for my set, I’d be demanding a refund. Is it the best HDR image I have ever seen? Yes. Have I seen the A95K, and the G3 in real life? Yes. Do all these issues suck absolute balls and should people make a big deal out of this review? YES! This is again why Samsung will always be viewed as behind Sony, Panasonic and LG… but mannn, when I paid less for it than the price of the G2 at the time? Idk why I returned it because of vertical banding and DSE. The S95C is much better especially in gaming

    Are you planning on reviewing either the samsung qn95c or the sony x95L ? Would love to see how they compare to OLED and hear your full detailed thoughts on them since usually its hard to trust anyone else (at least for me personally, you're my go to)

    Had to return my Samsung Q95T (2020) a few years back due to HDMI 2.1 not working with my RTX 3080, kinda sad how people are still running into problems when it comes to HDMI 2.1.
    Tried 2 separate PCs with 3080's when I had that Q95T btw, and 4 different HDMI 2.1 cables.
    Got myself an LG G1 after that which luckily worked without any issues.

    I am going to say this Again........ It seems Samsung has Decided to Intentionally make their Products WORSE every yr instead of better on the software end and its ALWAYS right after You Reviewers put out your Reviews !!! FACTS !!!!

      Yep last year most reviewers shilled the S95B only to have its brightness nerfed with an update. Seems like they all forgot and shilled for Samsung again this year

    As owner of s95c and rtx 4090 I have no issue playing 4k HDR 144hz with windows dolby atmos for home theater audio output. VRR is also on and gsync compatible on .
    Am using nvidia color settings RGB with 10 bit.

      Get away with what exactly? Samsung haven't mentioned anywhere that the s95c is 48gps on hdmi ports. RTings mentioned it was, but they like to copy/paste from previous reviews and edit some bits

      @@Capricorn_IV RTINGS did run a test, but its test equipment reported an erroneous 48 Gbps speed. RTINGS reran the test with its own equipment and also got the same model of HDMI test kit that Vincent Teoh used, and now both agree on 40 Gbps.

    Vincent question for you mate. Is there a range of nits where the colour looks the truest rather then more artificial boost that's given to them with pixel engines. I'm the market to buy a new OLED so looking at all flagship G3 , Phillips 809 etc
