    Amazing stuff. Glad we have aftermarket pads that are within spitting distance of the stock pads measurement wise, and won't disintegrate immediately

    My HD800 was old already when I bought it used. ZMF replacement pads might be a good way to refresh them a bit. Suede to recreate the feel of stock along with a similar sound sounds good to me since I have no issues with the stock sound of the HD800 (along with my rig).
    Side note, I really enjoy the video showing both how to replace the pads and the measurements/what to expect from the sound. Nice format. The pacing felt good to me too. 👍

    Loving mine for my HD800. The headphone used to sit pretty loosely on my head but I like the slight increase in snugness due to these lambskin pads and the crescent strap. It is still very comfortable and grips my head a bit better. The bass has increased a little and the highs are a bit more controlled while still maintaining the width the HD800 is known for. Thank you Zach!

    Just got my suede and leather pads in the mail and the new headband strap too. I tried to put them on without removing the inner black mesh and the pads didn't end up latching on very well. I was considering writing an email to complain about this but ended up rewatching the video. And turns out attaching the pads without the mesh first works way better haha.
    Comfort is definitely a step up from stock but I have a big head so adding pads and a headband strap makes them fit a bit tighter but am happy with the new fit so far.

    Bought the lambskin earpads along with the Pilot Pad-headband (also lambskin) for my ancient HD800 from a retailer in my country, and regret nothing. Sound is a bit weightier/fuller and soundstage is about the same as with the og Sennheiser ones. Comfort is stellar, as expected, with the ZMF earpads and headband on. Highly recommended!

    Zach/ZMF--could you please post a video with HD800 or HD800S measurements instead of the HD8XX? They graph pretty differently.

    I got the zmf lambskin pads last week, for my HD8XX (unmodded), and I think the ZMF pads work really well with the stock Drop tuning. Soundstage is still good IMO, and the whole headphone sound signature is less lean, and has more body/weight to it. More engaging as Zach said. So far, I think the ZMF lambs are a winner for the HD8XX.

    How noticeable is that decrease in bass energy to the ear with the lambs?
    It seems a lot of people try to boost the bass and tame the treble region in the HD800S.
    I want to order the lambs but I'm worried that they'll sound a bit more "lean" than they already do, or is that concern unfounded?

    • @ZMFheadphones
      @ZMFheadphones  Год назад +5

      The sound between them is incredibly close, the lambskin do dull the treble region a little, which evens the bass out. In practice I have a hard time telling between the bass levels. With the Hd800 if you want more bass EQ is usually the answer.

  • @edge_knight

    I've been using the lambskin pads on my sticker modded 8xx for the past 7 months. Great comfort and sound, but sadly the plastic material to snap the pad onto the headphone is very brittle. In under 15 removals to clean out debris the right pad's inner plastic broke on the angled snap in. Be very careful with these, had no luck resoldering the plastic together the tolerances are too precise.

    Thanks for the video! I tried the Dekoni pads on my HD800S some time ago and found that they killed the wonderful HD8** soundstage. I’m wondering what effect the ZMF suede pads have on the soundstage? Do the ZMF pads reduce it? Are the lambskin better as far as preserving soundstage?

    • @newsigmundfreud3023
      @newsigmundfreud3023 Год назад +1

      I also have this experience. It kills the soundstage. I wonder about the ZMF pads!

    • @ChuckPappas
      @ChuckPappas Год назад +1

      wearing them on my hd800s now... been auditioning them for about a month and they are comfy and nicely constructed (better then oem by far) but I think HD800s are supposed to allow the drivers to be closer to your head then these allow it to be. So do they effect the soundstage... yes. The bass is a bit more present with these pads and mids like the graphs show recess just a bit (especially for certain vocals). With that said I think these pads musically made the hd800s better but I use my hd800s mainly for gaming and entertainment. So I think the slightly reduced soundstage negates the main reason I loved HD800s so much for gaming/entertainment application and will be going back to oem for that application.
      Great craftsmanship and worth a listen I think before passing your own judgement as I do genuinely like the presentation better for music then oem.

    Thank you for this video Zach! My plan was to first get the Gustard R26 DAC, then the HD 800S and then save for a while more before picking up the ZMF Atrium (thanks to Lachlan for his recommendation and that of several other reviewers online). The HD800S retailed for about USD1,680 here in Singapore and the Atrium aged Cherry version retails for about USD$2,640. While browsing a local app where used and pre-loved products are on sale, I saw the Atrium and just had to change my original plan. It was great that the seller accepted my proposed price. So, I bought and collected my first ZMF Atrium yesterday, it is used for about 3 months plus. I met and collected from the seller in a public car park so the first thing I did when I’m back was to test and make sure it works. I ended up listening for 2 hours before bed and another 2 hours this morning. Now to learn more about the different pads. After the seller agreed to my proposed price, I saw the HD800S going on sale till 11.11 at USD$1,215. 😂

      You wouldn't want to put anything in the wash as the foam will get ruined. But we have had good success using a very sticky lint remover. Remember these are vegan, so they don't need conditioner or anything to condition them.

    Too bad that these pads actually make the "bad-points" of the HD800S basically even worse. They look incredibly comfortable.

    • @ZMFheadphones
      @ZMFheadphones  Год назад +2

      The leather pad is more diffused and sounds very similar to stock but with small changes, , if wanting to improve on the exact stock sound suede is an easier choice, as the transients are a touch more even and treble peaks more plateaus while keeping the sound very close. My goal here was not to mess with the sound much, but to improve comfortx which I think if you tried them you'd agree with. Thanks for watching!

      @@ZMFheadphones I know it is pretty close, but the midrange dip already is quite audible on the HD800S and without EQ and these pads I guess it would even be more audible, at least according to the measurements you had in your video. But I think it is still the best try for aftermarket pads on the HD800S yet and I might grab a pair in the future.
