    We check the main bearing conditions, the rod bearings itself as it tends to wear more than the mains. Even the top ring end gaps we check on this high miler to give us an idea of the status and possible direction it will take once we turn this into a project build soon.

      This is a high compression maybe 9.6:1
      I have a b20b4 8.8:1 compression with giraffe intake 😂

    This shortblock, in a ek4 sir, with the original b16a head on it, makes the car a great daily driver.

    Absolutely super interesting the b20's projects! maybe it could be a low comp b20v?

      Maybe but it could also be a gsr cammed b20vtec 😎 like the older build

      yes sir! And I know the owner will want to dyno it with his own tuner and that’s all good in my book hopefully then we get a good update too

      We’ve encountered those too and 9/10 it’s a “stock” b20 that was b20vtec prior but never admitted 😂

      double check the bearing clearances especially the main bearings this happens when they are too tight (could be torque issue or something else)
      Worst case is the crank got bent which means it needs to be replaced but this is absolute worst case… (just stuff I’ve experienced)

    Hi, i am also doing a b20v and what brand bearings and piston rings would you recommend?
    Thanks

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 месяца назад +2

      Simple… rings we just prefer what the brand piston uses and bearings oem we always use as u will notice on most my videos
      Acl bearing is okay too but oem daido has been good for decades

  • @gabrielr6679
    @gabrielr6679 Месяц назад +1

    I have a 98 crv ex had it since 2001 with only 25,000 miles now it has 287,000 miles and would like to know why would a brand new aftermarket distributor would leak oil? It looks like it leaks where it mates to the cylinder head.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Месяц назад +1

      well just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s OEM quality like it was from the factory in 99-00
      double check the distributor Oring hope that’s it cuz there are times “aftermarket” the shaft size is off

    • @gabrielr6679
      @gabrielr6679 Месяц назад +1

      @SRDmotorsports so if the shaft size is wrong how do I go about it. As I believe I purchased 2 different aftermarket dizzy's and still o rings are good and no leaks internally either just where it mates especially by the bolt that is towards the firewall

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Месяц назад +1

      really not sure in that case, and overtightening the bolt will risk of snapping it so that’s not good

      @@SRDmotorsports maybe I should do a cop kit and dizzy delete with either cam or crank trigger?
      Would this be a better route? Instead of sticking with a distributor.
