If the Mini 3 camera is a disappointment I'd buy this one over it. With the release of the Mini 3 right around the corner I'd wait to see what guys like you say about it with sample footage comparing it to the Nano+. Then there's the huge elephant in the room; the dreaded DJI geofencing that I find offensive at a gut level.
It looks like Autel is doing a good job giving their customers what they want and need. The Nano's will always have a more limited wind resistance compared with the DJI Mini 2 and probably the 3. I have a feeling the Mini 3's big plus will be its ability to fly in adverse weather. I could be wrong but I doubt the Mini 3 camera will be as good as this one. It will have a wider 1.7 aperture with a nearly same size sensor but will not have the RYYB tech which really puts the Nano+ on another level. The footage doesn't lie. It's even better than the Mavic 3 which really surprised me.
Good review and tutorial Xavier! I'm thinking most people also appreciate honest information; good or not so good. The reason the Mini's appeal to me today is they are less intrusive noise and size wise so they are kinda ignored as a toyish drone. Maybe not even noticed. Not a threat even though none of the consumer level drones are really a threat. Some people just perceive them that way.

Here is a fact about the Nano+. You do not need 10Bit because at 8Bit it is destroying the Mavic 3 Cine in colors and video quality. Remember that bits are for adjusting and flexibility when the filming was well exposure from the start up. The key is to always get the Raw files or H265/H264 right. Color correction first and than color grading. People get super confused about color grading all the time. And if the drone creates the best color profiles that is even superior than the Mavic 3, why fix perfection? Yes, for that look you are looking. And again, if people study color grading they can create amazing look even if it is from an 8bit video. In fact many movies are shot on 8bit. People need to stop thinking about bits and coins and concentrate in learning how to film and create great compositions that can tell a story. Anyway, beautiful shots!

One of the best reviews on the Nano Plus on RUclips. Nice job. I have been flying this drone since February and have been pleased with its performance with each update of FW. I also fly an Autel EVO 1 and RUKO F11 Gim and despite the wind concerns with this Nano Plus - I am more confident in this drone in wind at times than I am with the EVO I. That said, although my confidence in expected performance is increasing, I need more flying time to be completely confident especially with others that fly this drone having their issues. I've watched a few reviews for this and you brought a lot of new information and insight, great job and nice footage, I was so close to buying this (I need best quality still images for photogrammetry) but the Mini 3 specs leaks and hopefully release next month might give us that drone that flies well in the wind and has a great camera 🙏

Hi Xavier! Thought I had subscribed a while back but guess I hadn’t hit the button. I’m definitely a subscriber now! I’ve watched your review on both Autel & DJI drones and what I have learned is that Autel pays more attention to their optics. I am very much like you and have been blown away by the Nano+ camera. So I rarely use my Mini2 now even though I have a modded battery that will provide me with 40+ minutes of flight time. And you’re so right when you say that you need to be an experienced flyer to go beyond the “can’t fly in high wind” impressions that other RUclipsrs dismiss the Nano+ for. The Nano+ fulfills everything I need where I fly, which is largely a NFZ. Basically the only rule is to NOT FLY LIKE AN IDIOT! I have a Mavic 3 and I only use it for beyond Level 5 winds and the odd time when I need obstacle avoidance or do active tracking. Lastly, it’s ironic that everyone is so hyped up about the Mini3 Pro which doesn’t come close to the Nano+ camera. I just wished that Maxwell Lee would spend more money on their tech support so that DJI has some stiff competition in the future.

I've watched a view review of this drone and yours has been the most encompassing. Some really good explanation to what works well and the not so good. Love, love the camera and think its a good step up from the mini 1 for me. Also a good point for me is that here in the UK I can get it on a pay monthly over 12months. Cheers 👍
Spot on review. Despite all the hate, I enjoy this little fella and for the combo, I paid 950. I'll still be getting the Mini 3 Pro w/o the smart controller because I use the Tripletek 8pro for the Air 2S, Mini 2 and Nano+ (I use Original doBo's mount on the Tripletek and it's perfect for both brands) I will be ordering the cable cause I don't like the way the one that comes with it bends when you leave it in the remote. Also the comments didn't disappoint, it's hilarious (to me) to see grown men act like children when it comes to drones :)
The hate predominantly comes from DJI fanboys who can't stand competition from elsewhere.
That drone has definitely come a long way from when it first came out? The video looks absolutely amazing, especially the HDR? I love using that on my MA2. It really makes things a lot easier so you can concentrate on the flying. Every once in awhile, I like to play with the color grading. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍👍

I’m a Mini 1 flyer and have been wanting to upgrade since Autel first announced this drone back in the fall. Unfortunately, the numerous launch delays and glitches deterred me from taking the plunge. Have you experienced recurring software and/or hardware glitches with the Nano? Thanks
You did another great job on this video. After thinking about whether to get the Mini 3p or this Nano+ I decided on this Nano+ for two reasons. Remote ID being the biggest one. DJI puts their Mini 3's in RID while Autel does not and it doesn't need to be for sub 250g drones. The $700 holiday price for the premium bundle was also a deciding factor. I'm aware of the wind and tracking limitations of this drone. Tracking isn't good on any Autel drone IMHO so I just don't use it for that. This little guy is The Night King but the Mini 3 is no slouch. That RID though... I think my Mini 2 (no RID) and this Nano+ will be my go-to drones, especially after RID goes into effect in Sept. 2023. Cheers and I always enjoy your well thought out educational videos.

This was my deciding factor!!! Those damn geofencing restrictions suck, especially when you CAN get LAANC approval and the damn thing still won't fly!!! DJI needs to dump that feature!
I just got the Nano+ Premium yesterday and took it and flew all 3 batteries. I am very impressed. I agree with all you said. I can't wait to use it a lot more.

Thank you. So very spot on regarding what I experienced with my drone too. WE NEED MANUAL CONTROL OF THE CAMERA! In any mode. This is so important for a drone with such great camera.

Thanks for this good review and I´ve almost the same wishes to Autel as you have. Although I´m a beginner in drone-flying I have got a great sample of experience and my skills grow up in a good way with my Nano+. I have seen so many Autel Nano Plus reviews over the last 4-6 months and most of them have been by Fanboys or people who don't get the fact that a newly released high end drone is at the start of its evolution into what it will eventually become. Through feedback and fine tuned firmware updates issues and capabilities eventually get resolved and added. Your review was fair, informative and clearly presented. I agree that the quality of the images out of this little Nano + are phenomenal, even better than the DJI Mavic 3 in various YT video comparisons. Autel should carefully watch, listen, appreciate and respond to what you have presented here.
They can look at the Mini 3Pro bc that drone is something!

been building and flying quads for years just now got around to buying a purpose build quad, and have made my selection based on reviews from youtube I have worked with DJI in the past when all that they offered was the Naza Flight Controller and at that time it was the top of the pile of flight controllers but did lack the feeling of acro control . So now I am looking back to see just what I have missed and have pulled the trigger on the Nano Plus any help in what else I might need would be great
Had the jello issue with my when I got it in January, I just got the replacement last week so ya they are having customer service issues. I’m happy with my purchase.

Excellent review of the Nano +. I bought mine after the original gimbal problem was corrected and haven’t any problems. I like the video quality and the way it handles in the air. I also like that after I get LAANC approval to fly in controlled air space I don’t have to connect it with the drone in order to fly. For some reason with my DJI drones I get the connection to work about 20% of time, which I am sure is operator error.

Great review, do wish it was in the 600$ price range but considering the quality of the camera and that it's sub 250g, it's hard to complain. You're getting the quality of high end drones in a small package. Sucks for windy conditions but I travel a lot and I'll be able to take this country to country. Can fly it almost anywhere in the world without needing a specific license. Can send it up in the air, take some quick shots, bring it back diwn and be gone before any authorities catch wind of it. So after your review Def picking one up today. Only thing I'd love to see, is a larger battery to extend the life. Rumors the mini 3 might offer something like that. Yes it'll push it over 250 but who's gonna really check to see if it's over by 50g when it's that tiny. 45min battery life would be awesome for kayaking or mountain biking.
I want to complement you on your thorough & informative review of the Nano+, thank you. I do have a question though… I purchase my Nano+ RcGoing in Dec 2021 & received the combo version in Feb 2022. I have yet to fly the new drone & have been reading various reviews on whether to or not, send the drone back to RcGoing (or Autel Robitics) to have the Gamble Damper problem fixed? I appreciate your advice or those of other Nano+ users.
I used to love to fly my Evo right before a storm, the wind was amazing, the original Evo was a beast in the wind, but it almost blew away one day. I also now have a mini 2, I have been scared to subject it to very much wind, sounds like it might be a little better at fighting the wind than I thought. It’s as amazing little machine.

Hello DXF! I've had this drone for about 5 days. I got a little nervous flying my first night flight over the city of Wilmington, DE and had to put it in Ludacris mode to get back. In camera mode, it was not nearly as strong as wind priority mode so I switched mine to wind priority mode and plan to leave it there! The heck with the camera when I'm in a hurry!! Would take far too much time to switch it in an emergency! Maybe they will add that to the button option modes which would come in handy. So far, so good!!!
Great review, I like how you catagorize the issues. Some things belong on a "problem" list some belong on a "wish" list, you did that well. I currently have a Phantom, a Mavic Pro, and an EVO II 8k. I'm thinking about a sub 250g and I really like Autel but im bothered by claims of it dying in flight for unknown reasons. I'm not a professional but I'm a good pilot that does things the right and have never had any issueswith any of my flights. Do you have any insight on these "falling from the sky" claims?
I bought mine only recently and have been a bit paranoid about wind after crashing my Evo1 up into a bridge (updraft) several years ago. I had an opportunity to fly my Nano off a skyscraper in downtown Chicago a few days ago, so I was quite worried (Windy city and all that). It was buffeted around a bit taking off, but once it was a few feet from the building it was quite stable. I still didn't take it too far, but HAD to fly it over the bean. I am an amateur still photographer, so the strength of the camera was my primary consideration in my choice. Pleased so far, but my biggest complaint is the size of the controller. It is comfortable, but I would have preferred something that folded up more compact and tilted the phone holder, like the controller for the Evo 1.
You nailed about every point of concern I had with my nano+ minus a couple - Mine had strong vignetting in photo mode and the centre of the frame would look quite washed out. The 50mp photo mode made details look smoothed out and waxy. But the biggest problems was after only three days of owning this, the controller lost connection with the nano+ while flying in the "return to home" mode. The app completely froze up and the drone disappeared. Not cool. Currently dealing with Autel customer service but as you stated, communication there is not good.
This is one of the few real honest videos about the Nano Plus, with the reviewer really knowing what he is talking about. Kudos for that!
Just one thing wrong: RAW color issue (in fact, it's an issue of post-processing softwares not supporting that special sensor yet) is still there, it still takes quite some manual effort getting the colors right. droneXfactor: Your RAW example looks just horrible. :D
But except that, almost all benefits and drawbacks are covered.
Owning Mini 2 and Nano Plus, I can assure you everything droneXfactor tells you is just right on the spot.
Have you compared the new mini 3 As well? The specs on this Evo nano looked great on paper however many said they preferred the Mini 2 due to the bugs in the Evo software.

The Nano plus seems to have a better camera than usually find in Mini drones, which is nice, but you you pay for it the higher price. Great review, you really covered a lot of ground here, thanks for putting in the time.
It's one of the worst cameras I've ever dealt with. Neon greens are just wrong.
Great video my, why like your video, because your not a one side ass person, who is negative against certain companies. A person gas a little bias in them, but some people make so clear that they will go down with the ship no matter what. What's kool about u is . you do give credit to where credit is due.There will never be a perfect drone. as no human is perfect but glad u pointed out the good and bad. and it was as close as close could be. This little drone is awesome. and could be better in the wind, if it had the mini 2. strength in the wind. it good be a top dog.
Howdy. I'm having a very hard time trying to find a long cable for this drone to go to my tablet. Can you tell me where you got yours? Are all remote cables the same? I briefly used a DJI cable for my tablet, but there was a weird moment with the gimbal so I stopped.
Great video! Can you do a comparison with the the new DJI mini 3 pro vs evo nano plus? I can’t decide which one to go with, the new mini 3 pro looks great but the image quality looks noticeably better. Am I missing something? It would be great if you can shows us the difference in picture quality.
I'm in the same doubt and... If the quality is top priority, nano+ is way to go. There are some great features in mini3, like vertical, gimbal +60° up, flight time and flight capabilities butt... Nano+ getting better and better and image quality straight out of drone is unbeatable. If they puts 10-bit color (which is actually possible), it will beat even mavic3, not just mini3 or air2s
Xavier, great review. I’ve been watching most of your reviews that interest me (Evo2 pro. Air 2S, and now the Nano).
I’m no expert, but I have experienced everything you’ve written about the Nano, but for me the 2 biggest cons is the fact that the app does not exit on my Tripltek, (android) and the fact that you cannot check RC power level without turning it on.
Just so you know, I’m an Autel fan (love the underdog). Yes I have that Air 2S, because I’m not convinced the Lite + is up better as yet. My Evo 2Pro is a beast. Love that drone, and now the Nano is quickly working it’s way into my heart.
Would really love you to do some more Autel reviews.

Plus no RYYB sensor tech in Mini 3 either, but it will have a f1.7 Apature!

When flying into the wind and you are having trouble you can always "Tac" your way back, like sail boats do, in kind of zig zag movement. Going directly into the wind is NOT the best method to return to home, in my opinion
Yes it does have a great camera......... but it is just not worth the money. I have yet to see 15 mps. Most of the time I have to turn off the sensors or it stops the drone in mid air so what good are they. The remote battery barely last for three flights and a lot of the promised features still are not on the app. what good is a great camera if you have no faith in flying the Drone. I know that the Mimi 2 camera is not as good but it will fly so much better. The Nano + is 400$ more than the Mini 2 but it does not give you $400 more performance... Shame on Autel this could have been a great drone and I would not mind seeing a very good contender to DJI but this is not it... This was my second Nano, the first got sent back because the gimbal self check would not stop. It just would not let the drone take off. I d0 get it a bit on the replacement and have concerns that this could be an issue

I received my new Evo Nano yesterday, downloaded the Fly app. Went to start everything up and the Fly app keeps telling me 'RC Disconnected'. I've tried a couple of cables, no change. I use a Galaxy Note 9. I tried with an iphine 13 Pro but I had exactly the same problem. Finally I tried with my opad Pro (2020).
I had the same problem with your cables but I tried with another one and I succeed to activate the drone. Except that, I wasn't able to update the drone, I didn't have access to drone, I couldn't take photo or videos (I had an sd card inside). I was only able to move the gimbal. Nothing else.
I couldn't pair the controller and I couldn't update the drone manually through the app. Nothing is working!!
Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Well, eight months after you posted this, I LOVE MY NANO+ Seems most of your issues have been addressed by Autel. I've been a DJI fan boy since 2016. Loved my Inspire 1v2 until DJI turned its back on the bird. Love my Mavic Pro, but the damn geo fencing kills me! So, I'm flying Autel now! No geo fencing. And a totally awesome camera! Bye, bye DJI.

Looks great on paper and the shots at night look very impressive but I have watched quite a few reviews and seems to have a lot of faults which is a shame. Now the Mini 3 is out and cheaper with the new controller than this drone. Price was always an issue for me with Autel.

I realize that I shouldn’t have flown my EVO 2 on a very windy day. When I selected the return home feature, the strong wind just carried it away from the home landing destination.
When I forced it down, I did not estimate the distance it was carried away, and it came down and crashed on a nearby apartment building.
Damn
I love the camera BUT! I was out flying and almost couldn't get home because the obstacle avoidance kept coming on and wouldn't let me fly fast. I didn't think fast enough to turn it off but I made it back anyway. Also as far as the version numbers: mine show up red for Remote Control version and Battery version. I get no prompt to update the firmware. No one at Autel answers the phone and no one has answered my email.

Haven't bought it because of the power issue. also, to pricy. You can get an Air 2s for the price of this. Just not enough juice from the squeeze...
First revision of the drone has bad mount of rubbers on the gimbal, return it to seller. Or repair self.
First time comment watch your vids all the time but after 4 minutes im done , for one only thing good on this is the camera , 2, Mini 3 pro is coming soon witch means your Nano plus will only be good as a paper weight with all the problems it has , 3 the price will be slightly cheaper not much though but still and lastly , 4 the Mini 3 pro will be so much superior then the Nano according to the specs projected
Another dji,fanboy comes along, this about the nano plus, I don't see dji name in the title anywhere, negatively tells us who u are what a sad life to live.
Why are people so attached to a "Particular Company (DJI)"? Give credit where credit is due. Autel made a GREAT camera drone with the Evo Nano + (plus)! They've updated the firmware to fix a few issues and added a few features. We all know it's not a very good drone in high winds (don't fly it in high winds). DJI is making a Mini 3. This week, I bought an Autel Nano + (plus). In May, I'll probably buy the DJI Mini 3 (so I'll have two sub 250 gram drones). TODAY, let's celebrate what Autel is doing. We can give the Mini 3 some cred' when it arrives.

@@ozstrayapanoramas8610 Maybe i dont but i do no is , there's many problems with the Autel Nano + clearly many have crashed because of disfunction in fact the bottom sensor from Y T channels dont even work so as far as the Mini 3 pro well to be honest no one knows yet right

I thought this drone seems quite nice, especially for video and low light it's impressive until I saw the price tag.
If it had 10bit log and Manual control of camera well lets just say also all the things you said then maybe it is worth the price tag, it feels like an almost there but not quite there drone, yes some of the things could be fixed with software updates, but thats almost like taking a gamble, it's like saying you want to buy the DJI Air 2S because the drone could in the future support the FPV goggles because the technology certainly does allow for it, but it's just DJI dont want the goggles to connect to the Air 2S.

I don't think it's getting 10Bit, Autel already said it's a 8bit drone but getting Log in Manual mode will definitely complete this drone for me!

If the Nano+ 8 bit is destroying the Mavic 3 Cine 10Bit what is the point? 10Bit is only good if the shots where not well exposure and the camera did not capture great colors. This little drone has colors like film quality to it. I remember working with film and it is on another level. No RGGB cameras will get natural colors like this camera does. Thanks to AI technology we now can create green with more light and resolution. Also, many don’t know, the RYYB creates more resolution than the pixels does, that is why it destroys the Mavic 3 in video definition. And with 40% more light. I did a test in best buy with an 8K TV showing the Mavic 3 Cines best scenes and the Nano+ and everyone just said wow to the Nano+ because of the colors and video definition. To me, color grading should be very minimum and only use more for visual fx that you should never over use.

drone seems like solid software. just hate the copy factor they did by steal dji design. I dont like the new design of the mini 3 but after they did this dji had no choice but to change design

Its not stable in the air like dji drone and there firmware is never up to date? Autel just need to stop trying to compete with dji cause they never will.
