      Autel has no geofencing, and they dont sell your data. DJI is anti-consumer. I would rather fly a second best drone that gives me the freedom to do whatever I was versus a drone that flies better, but I'm being told where and when I can fly. The governments issue with drone is that consumers can use it as a weapon if the people decide the government has crossed the big red line. Anything the government finds as a threat they will try to control.

    To be honest i really like the RYYB Sensor more. It is different but gives that immediate WOW effect if you see the footage. If Autel would have the same flight abilities and someone who would replace those really annoying voice commands i would have pulled the trigger for the Nano before. But now it's another DJI Drone in my collection :) Thanks for the video great work!

    I have to agree with pretty much everything you said and 6 months ago when this was made this is all true. Today is Jan. 2, 2023 and I was able to get the Nano+ w/premium bundle for $702 shipped so that's a $400 savings. Also DJI has opted to enable Remote ID in the USA on the Mini 3 which is not necessary for recreational flight. Couple that with the geofencing and the Nano+ starts looking a lot more desirable. No doubt the Mini 3 is the better flyer out of the box and I like that it's much quieter. Camera wise it's pretty much a wash during the day but the Nano+ is still King of the Night. I waited till now to buy one of these and I really thought I'd end up with the Mini 3 but that RID thing was the deal breaker for me. In other countries this is not an issue but the geofencing still is. Good review and it does stand the test of time for the most part.

      @3fees Год назад

      Nano+ w/premium bundle is now 1/15/23 $ 565 with 3 batteries/free shipping. The old saying in electronics is true with new drones as well, when you buy the latest cutting edge technology you get cut. Both drones are good with DJI better customer support.

    • @underthedrone2735
      @underthedrone2735 Год назад +2

      @@3fees Nano+ is not new. Been out for a year now. The bugs have been worked out except for tracking and I wouldn't use tracking in any Autel drone at this time. Yes, DJI does have better customer support and a 70% market share because it's been doing it longer and because they are more refined with a lot bigger budget and staff to make that happen. I like DJI drones. I currently have two and had a couple more. That said it's easy to make the Nano+ fly like the Mini 2 which I also have. Just change a couple settings in the remote and you're golden. Next year I might even buy the Mini 3p when the prices come down and there's a hack to kick the geofencing and RID out of it. I don't need either one of those in any drone I own.

    • @3fees
      @3fees Год назад +1

      @@underthedrone2735 The price will come down , DJI will probably release the Mini 4 this year and that will help with the price drop. The mini 2 prices have dropped a lot and selling like hot cakes, I'm in the waiting mode for a mini drone and best camera quality with very good remote control .Your point about bugs is true and it seems all new drones have these Mini 3 pro range was ridiculous and a firmware update fixed that.

    • @underthedrone2735
      @underthedrone2735 Год назад +1

      @@3fees So true. It's not just drones that have these unrefined releases. Cameras and lenses do too. It's just the way it is now. I was amazed at how the flagship Mavic 3 had such a terrible satellite acquisition issue (on some of them) until they finally managed to fix that. One would think these drones would be fully tested globally for these type of issues before releasing them. I guess that's not how the manufacturers view them. At least they do usually fix the software and hardware issues at some point. That's why I waited a year to buy a Nano+. That and the price reduction.

    Thanks for this review. I was watching nearly everything when they launched the Nano+. They had a advance because of the earlier launch. They better wouldn’t launch with that amount of unfinished features. In my opinion the future market of sub250 belongs to the hobbyists all around the world. Without all this restrictions the larger drones would win lot more attention. At the end I’m really happy to made my decision towards the Mini 3. Though I would have liked to see a small, friendly company close to the marketleader causing quality improvements because of the competition. Autel earns from my side a lot of respect. Well done! Just the lack of customer support after buying is probably really annoying. A really big question is, if the future classification is in need of Geofencing. What do you think?

    The Nano+ is on another level. Sorry but the video are not similar at all. The mini 3 has no definition while you can see a lot with the Nano+. The mushy Mini 3 pro video does not look next to the Nano+ video. The mini 3 footage looks like an up-conversion from 1080p to 4k. For the camera in day or night Nano.+. Nano+ won over our company and our shooters here. Camera quality we had on the Mini 3 P was crap by any comparison especially our use in dark enclosed buildings, warehouses and the likes which is our primary use for that little bird. We bought 6 of them. They all fly great. I think the atti mode or barom sensor of the Nano+ works better than we had on the Mini 3 P. That Nano + can fly just about a foot off the ground no problem, and the Mini 3 wants to land all the time lol. When we compared the indoor flights around the buildings the Nano + didn't fight it's position like the Mini 3 did in several tests we tried. Out door GPS they both fly great, but NONE of them would be used for the coastal work we do in FL because the winds just knock them around too easily. Autel E2P wins that one for us. Not a fan at all of DJI continuing to hand hold pilots with geofencing. The rules are what they are... those not wanting to have the lock downs know how to remedy that as well which is just as illegal and taking off in a NFZ... I see no point in geofencing

      @@BlueSatt oddly enough i found the mini to look absolutely artificial in that is overly saturated colors make everything seem fake lol. If DJI removed their annoying geofencing, they would steal 99% of Autel's market share. Other than geofencing, there is literally no reason to own an Autel. Autel is more expensive, less advanced software-wise, and aftermarket accessories are outrageously expensive or non-existent (mostly non-existent).
    Don't get me wrong, I love my EVO II Pro, I use it more than my Air 2S because I fly in environments where geofencing is prevalent, but I would have never bought it if DJI did not have geofencing.

      Mind you, I do prefer the Autel camera. But unless one is doing a side by side, nobody will ever know the camera is better than the DJI.

    Autels are super buggy. Mine would not record in anything but 720 and the obstacle avoidance went haywire on me several times. Also the panoramic sphere didn't work on my nano plus or my Evo lite plus. I'd stay away from Autels the quality control is lacking and no where near that of DJI. A great camera is useless if the drone only records in low resolution. I've seen other reviewers that had the same issue that I am having, I sent mine back for a refund.

    Nice video Mike. I completely agree with your opinion about both drones.
    I still have my 2,5 yo Mini1 and I was planning to replace it around April. After the Nano+ launch I was impressed by the camera and it would be my choice to replace the Mini1. However, I decided to wait for the Mini3 and if camera specs were similar I would choose the Mini3.
    DJI flight controls and software are much better than Autel and I am used to fly with the Fly app.
    The Nano+ camera is better than the Mini3 Pro mainly in low light due to the new technology RYYB sensor instead of the RGGB of DJI drones. Just for the camera the Nano+ is a winner but when you add all the rest the Mini3 Pro is a clear winner.
    The DJI RC is a plus as the Autel controller is kind of basic.
    In the end I opted to buy the Mini3 Pro with the DJI RC plus the FMK.

      Good evaluation of the available options. Another factor is customer service and support that is essentially non-existent at Autel. I know from 2+ years of Evo 2 Pro and Autel Smart Controller ownership. I opened 14 tickets. Precisely ONE got any response and that was worthless. DJI needs to resolve range issues with M3P, period. Autel needs to hire staff, they are still operating on the same crew they had with one drone series, now supporting (or failing to) THREE drone series. It's not all hardware specs. Every FW update on an Autel is an adventure of the most horrible type you can imagine, and I am a 40+ year IT worker. 🙄

    As much a pain as Geo Fencing is. It's really necessary to know where you should or should not fly. Sure everyone know about airport but there are other area that is fenced or have height limitation for a good reason. Not having Geo Fencing in their app is really irresponsible and will only hurt the drone community in the long run.

      I was up in Chester VA a week ago and intended to fly my Mini 2 at my sisters house to take a look at the surroundings. The DJI app informed me that I needed permission to fly and I got it through the app as a code on my phone within 30 seconds. Honestly, I felt better about flying afterwards. It's a safety situation. If you say you don't care, you are only hurting the rest of the drone community when your drone loses connection and lands on a runway of an airport.

    Disagree that Mini 3 Pro bottom sensors are primarily for landing. The small Time of Flight sensors are for stability and landing. The big ones have a 90° with overlap of the front sensor arc, similar to Mavic 3 overlapping sensor field of view. That said, even though M3P is a bit better in terms of sensor coverage than Air 2/2S, it does still have limitations, especially evidenced by the "disable sideways flight" that Rick from Drone Valley swears isn't there (lol) 🙄 Just be reasonably careful, and I would fully expect it to OUT MANUEVER my Mavic 3, mostly by virtue of its small size. 😉

    Software lacking, controller lacking, vertical shooting for tiktoks/youtubeshorts lacking. For $679 today on Amazon prime day that price is the sweet spot. It should be priced at that price point to be honest. Since it's lacking in many ways. I'll wait for the next iteration of autel products or maybe the next air 3 since i'm still currently using the dji air 2. the autel for me would be a down grade but the mini 3 pro an upgrade due to the vertical shooting. Since youtube shorts and tiktok practically run the world in terms of media entertainment now.

    Seems like the DJI Mini 3 Pro wins in just about every category except the most important... the camera. From all the youtube comparisons I've looked at comparing the 2 drones, the video quality of the Autel Nano blows DJI out of the water. And in low light the Nano makes the DJI footage look like something out of a cereal box. Think I'll go with the Autel Nano and just put up with the other inferior quirks in favor of the superior camera.

    Buggy software can get fixed, so I see the big difference is:
    DJI - Better wind penetration, but damned geo fencing (and supporting China Big Brother)
    Autel - No fencing or spying, but poor wind penetration.
    Winds can come up quickly and vary with altitude. I don't wish to lose my drone due to winds. Why couldn't Autel manage that better?? I want to support them and not DJI, but I think I would get the Mini 3 pro.

    I was disappointed by the video quality of the mini 3 pro. The Mini 2 and even the original Mavic Air have better video quality. To my eyes, the Autel looks like it has better detail than the mini 3 pro in your video. Video detail is important to me because I do a lot of survey work with the zoom at 4x. If you're doing aesthetic videography shots I think you can easily make any of them look great...
    The mini 3 is still my favorite drone. The extended battery's flight time, and the quietness of the drone gave it that slot hands down.
