damn at 199 I was for running out to buy both and head up the Antrim coast - on that and from a total noob here looking to buy, is the NI weather much of an issue when flying these cheaper drones?
Autel's camera looked far superior to me. Far more detail. Plus better transmission? I wonder about range? Mini 3 scores far better features, battery life, price, and power. DJI for my needs.

Nano plus sells for around $500 now, and no geo fencing, it’s a winner for like half the price of dji.

Thank you for great comparison video. I was torn between buying the dji mini pro 3 but thought I would give the autel nano plus a chance instead. You are spot on about the ridiculous length of time for a firmware update on the autel nano plus ..but was worth the long wait. The video quality is superb on the autel nano plus and the remote control is a nice solid piece of kit. The gimbal protector cover is hard to attach and remove for fear of damaging the gimbal but overall really happy with the autel. Thanks again for a superb comparison

The DJI drones has a huge problem with Geofencing. And the Mini 3pro seems to have problems with connection in urban areas.

I'm a bit slow on this one, but been watching all of your very informative tutorials 👌🏼 I have learned so much about my mini pro 3 and after watching the start of this, I'm pretty sure the DJI has it in the bag, but like everything, there is good and bad points to bug us.
I'm still waiting on my Avata and am excited after watching you fly it as I'm also new to this at the ripe old age of 55, so could take me a while. I'm in awe of the footage you get in Ireland, it's so pretty!
After watching most of your tutorials on here, I'm wondering have I done the right thing with the Avata (which I have commented on to try win a code for dji care) I love all things fast but as a newbie at this age may have left it a bit late, also watching some of your stuff on the bigger drones, I could get a 2pro fly more kit for the same money. It's just the noise and the maual mode that sways me, thinking my brain will never get it together!

The thing that pulled me towards DJI and the mini 3 pro was Care refresh. A first drone that cover was a must for me. I’m still scared rigidity when flying, but I haven’t even been able to put an hour and 15 into yet. But knowing if I damage the drone or it has a an issue out of my control it can be replaced.
Love your videos, Matthew, and thanks for this comparison. Your videos are of excellent quality, right up there with the best RUclipsrs in the genre. If you don’t mind, I only have two minor gripes that I noticed are recurring: I often have to use subtitles to watch on RUclips, and your text labels appear directly under the subtitle label. This makes side-by-side comparison videos particularly frustrating to watch as I have to try to see what’s beneath the subtitles to see which is which. Obviously, this is a pretty common problem among all RUclips channels and not something most content creators consider when editing, including myself.
Secondly, when you show a cropped video, the flashing orange “arrow” element in the background is supremely distracting. My eye always ends up going to the abstract background rather than the cropped in video element I’m supposed to be paying attention to.

Picked up an Autel Nano Plus premium bundle black friday for $629 US Dollars. Big DJI fan but for the difference in price, went with Nano Plus. It's refreshing to try something new as this is my first Autel quad. I've seen a lot of comparison videos and to me the Autel Nano Plus with Auto looks better. I like the saturated look to me. I still will most likely get the Mini 3 Pro as new controller is awesome. Not a fan of using my phone.

Great video, I think those range issues with the Mini 3 seem to have to do sth with the new controller as people tested it with the other and got better results. Someone also found the issue that the new RC doesnt change from 2.4 to 5.8Ghz automatically but the N1 does, really seems like a problem fixable with an firmware update. But if it really matters to most which have to fly in VLOS is another question and DJI still improves via updates so I guess it could be solved soon. I hope to buy it soon, prob. with the normal controller as I could save a little
Hi Matthew, great comparison. Thanks for this video. At one time I had considered getting an Autel, but gave up pretty quickly. I will eventually upgrade my Mini 2 to a Mini 3 Pro but that is towards the end of the year, especially because I want all the bug fixes out and all the wrinkles ironed out first. I am used to the reliability of my Mini 2 so I would not want to be one of those unlucky few that have issues (and I probably will be since there is a dark cloud over my head when it comes to electronics). The two reasons I want the Mini 3 are for the obstacle sensors and the new controller. The rest is not really important to me (like vertical camera). But for now, I need to save to get the Mini 3 :)

If you look at minute 4:17, the landscape with the church, behind the blue car is a gray field, on it you can see several things (probably hay bales) in the picture from Autel. They are missing in the image from DJI. Also, in the same image, at Autel, the sky has more details if you look at the clouds. I don't understand why the author says that the image is better with DJI, the differences are very visible in favor of Autel.

Something I didn't hear mentioned in the video is a comparison on how well the Autel and DJI stand behind their products. Any insights to share here? Also the option to purchase DJI Care. Does Autel have an equivalent program available?

I have my Mini 3 Pro and it's a stonking good drone! It's well worth the few bob extra for all the bells and whistles it has and is making me contemplate selling my bigger heavier Mavic Air 2:)

Any chance of a revisit of this comparison?
I think it will be a tossup depending on what features are most important to oneself. I had the original Mini as my learning experience, but since then have bought the original Evo and just picked up the Nano+. Pretty happy with it, though I would have preferred a controller that folds up like the Evo controller does. One of the reasons I bought it was the compact size for travel. Partially made up for with the candy bar sized multi charger.
Got the one EVO Lite+ it's the best off my DJI Mavic 3 low night.

I'm in the market for a drone, it will be my 1st ever , and Im still comparing the pros and cons of a few different drones, the Nano plus is becoming my favorite with the Dji mini 3 and the EXO Blackhawk 2 pro being the three I seem to have my eyes on, so thank you for all the footage its helping as I'm sure you know, and any advise is greatly appreciated

Hmmmmm, never had a problem with the Nano, be it range height software and the quality of footage is great
For USA the DJI software can be a real pain with the extra authorization to take off. FAA LAANC approval is all you should need but DJI adds an extra step which can be buggy and actually ask for the extra step in places outside the FAA zones.
Not a deal breaker for most but if you can't get your drone off the ground for a paid gig it would be an issue. Autel app bugs look like a serious issue as well.

The Skydio is for sure the best drone if u want to it follow but the footage it produces while following most often isnt great since its really jumping around and going fast to slow.
Thanks for the video. However nobody gets 34 minutes out of the normal mini 3 battery. Realistic is more about 25 min. And yes the range transmission quality is a big issue today for the mini 3 and we are waiting until DJI fixes this big problem
I agree, that's just the advertised time. Same story for the Autel, you get 5-10minutes less depending on how much you are moving around and the wind speed.

I have Mini3 and had Nano+.
Is strange that you say at night time they are close... Because they are No WAY close... NANO+ is light years in front of Mini3... And I do not understand how did you tested low light Mini3 as the HQ mode sucks, is ghosting a lot, not to mention that aggressive noise filter that blurs a lot.
So allow me to question your objectivity or your honesty in this test.
As one commentor indicated just pullup the comparison on 4:17: In the Autel image you can see bales of hay behind the car, you can more definition of the top of the church along with the siding where DJI's is blown out and fuzzy, in fact in the foreground the road and growth alongside it on Autel's image is much more detailed, higher dynamic range. There is no question Autel's image quality is superior, now much of the remainder you indicated in favor of DJI is correct: App, APAS, vertical shooting. And one more thing in favor of DJI is the support for Goggles Integra and true FPV although Autel will allow headsets like the older DJI headset of Mavic Pro days.
Autel is slow on firmware upgrades for sure and products for consumers is a bit chaotic, for example the EVO II version 1 is in some ways better than EVO II version 3 (10bit D-log lacking on ver 3).
I've seen dozens of comparissons by now, and I keep liking the Evo Nano Plus image quality over the Mini 3....I don't know if its in the brightness, contrast, HDR, sharpness or maybe in the colours, but it seems so much more appealing to me.
I hope Autel include active tracking soon. It's not responsible selling a product just half developed.

I agree that Evo Nano shows better image quality. It feels like M3P uses digital zoom. On the other hand, Nano+ gives more details. If we need a "natural" feeling then we can put a gaussian blur on it. However, I am still hooked up with M3P as it gives vertical mode.
I believe AUTEL have fixed all these issues now ( June 2023) the video quality is impressive. That’s my humble opinion!
I’m happy I bought the mini 3 pro. I already have the Air 2S, so only one app (which works extremely well) needed.
The DJI Fly app is very good, I have never had an issue with it. I really think the Mini 3 Pro is the best little drone available right now. Thanks for commenting!
It's good to see more competition, but stuff like the 720p issue is just unacceptable. Hope they resolve it with a firmware update. In all practical sense, DJI has a monopoly.
I want to buy the mini 3 pro, but am waiting to see if they fix the range issue. I have flown distance in the Sedona Arizona red rock country with my DJI Phantom 4 pro + where you can't drive close. You have to fly, or hike all day to get there. I choose to fly. I have no issues with transmission, but I have heard that about 50 percent of mini3 pro owners have issues as little as 200-300 meters (about 600 to 900 feet). That is totally unacceptable to me. I hope DJI fixes this problem. Until I hear better range reviews, I'll hold off on my purchase.

I would’ve thought the skydio 2+ would be the best tracking drone out there I don’t know I don’t own one but I think they guarantee it if you crash it they replace it. I don’t know that for a fact I’ve heard someone else says it.
You're right the Skydio 2+ is the best autonomous tracking drone out there the technology they have is unrivaled for that particular purpose he probably just forgot to mention Skydio because it's not available in Europe

I live in a country where sub 250g drones don't have any rules as far as operations (can go as far as I want/high as I want/where I want) other than a guideline of don't do anything stupid. I compared my Mini 3 (with both the RC and RC N1 Remotes to see if there was a difference) to my Mini 2 Mavic 2 and Mavic 3 and the Mini 3 definitely has transmission issues over 500 meters and is very line of site dependent. We just received a gigabyte remote update and fly app update yesterday so I'm going to fly it again today or over the weekend to see if anything has improved. Given I'm allowed to and like to fly my drones long distance, this is an issue for me.
Can I ask you what country you live? Cuz I guess I’m gonna move there 😂👍. Here in the Netherlands the drone rules are VERY strict unfortunately 😕

I got a DJI Air 2S and regret it, mainly due to the fact that the DJI software thinks it owns the airspace, and we have to ask it to fly in US airspace, even though I get LAANC authorization to fly whenever it is necessary.

No, you basically are being a Karen. But you knew that already.
If a 3rd generation product is not better than a 1st generation product I would be surprised. Mini3 is superior in most ways except for those that care about user data and geofencing. Camera quality is pretty close and the pros/cons are user-preference specific. I have the Nano+ and may get the Mini3 but it is basically unavailable for weeks so will wait until others get bored of it but buy used. Having only been launched a few months ago, the Sky app does have some issues I agree (they can easily fix the bugs, and should) while the Fly app is a mature 3? year software by now..
Camera quality is very good on the Nano+. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was very impressed. It definitely holds its own in the camera department.

Hi. If the Mini 3 came out first, I wouldn't buy Nano +. Now i have both but I only fly Mini3. With this controller and low noise, Mini 3 is the winner.

I believe that in the next 5 years Autel will be a true competitor against DJI but as of right now there really isn't any comparison. I will be purchasing a Mini pro 3 in March.

We can see that you are an autel fan... Why is it better? Mini 3 has 10 bit D-cinelike 60fps recording. Also it has better dynamic range, active track and overall it's more reliable

DJI Mini Pro 3 - All day, every day and twice on Sundays!!! I have DJI Mini SE - and believe me - that SE is amazing! If it only had two features - would have been THE MOST PERFECT DRONE EVER!
Two Features Mini SE needs - Active tracking/follow me mode and avoidance system...
The biggest thing it misses for me is the lack of ocusync 2.0

No one has mentioned if the Evo nano plus has any of the overheating issues the DJI mini;s have.
I don't think a single person has answered or mentioned that. I also would think the signal strength
would be a definite plus for nano plus. I sure many of these comparisons are tainted by sponsorships.
As for software they both have their problems. As for price the nano bundle is less that unbundled mini 3.
the Nano + has a built-in fan to prevent overheating...so does its controller. those are the thoughtful details Autel baked into the design for these drones which make them slightly better (on paper) than the M3P

If you know how to fly it the Autel Nano+ is awesome and a great flyer too. I have no problem with the software. I own both the Nano+ and the DJI Mini 3 Pro so I know what I am talking about! See my Autel Nano+ and DJI Mini 3 Pro video's on my YT channel for proof. At the end the Autel Nano has a awesome and the best camera for low light. The Mini 3 Pro has also a great camera and is the best allround flyer. Also it is the perfect tracking drone. Greetings from 🇳🇱
Appreciate your experienced opinion. When it comes to comparing these drones everyone will have a favourite as they are closely matched. I did have software niggles though and I do think the Mini 3 is the better all rounder. That being said, the Autel Nano+ has a great camera. Thanks for commenting!

You say the footage is too sharp on the Autel, then when it comes to the still photo you praise DJI for being sharper? There's a big difference in price here in Malaysia. In Malaysian ringgit I can get the Autel for 2999, whereas the Mini 3 Pro combo with RC2 is 4,889.00, a 1890 difference ($400+).
Ok, thanks for this comparison. But today’s autel nano plus has been updated and the annoying things you mentioned aren’t no longer a problem. But…. As much as I would like the dji mini pro, I can’t overcome my biggest turned off feature, which you didn’t talk about…. The dji requires internet and confirmation with the dji server before you can fly. As for the Autel, you can fly when and where you want. Not that I want to fly in illegal places, but I dont want to be at their mercy and suffer from a bug or something like that. That is my reason not to buy any dji.

Nice review only one thing I thought I had to say and that was that you were a bit unfair saying that the Autel controller doesn’t come up to the RC course it doesn’t if you do in light for like you should compare it with the RCN1 not the RC. And have an Alltel reduce the price recently by the way I don’t have an Autel I have a mini three with the RC
The reason I compared the new DJI RC (with screen) to Autels controller is the pricing. The premium bundle is pretty much the same price on both drones, but the Mini 3 comes with the DJI RC for that price. I don't actually dislike Autels controller, it's nice to use. I wish it had somewhere to store the sticks though.

The nano plus controller is very comfortable to hold controller and is just right for the nano it has all the function's you need to operate the drone
You can have an acssery to hold your sticks from someone who calls himself dobo in the us and also does tablet holder for the triplek
I paid £ 895 for the premium bundle of the nano+ so price wise was cheaper than the mini 3 Pro

Dji over claimed their transmission capability on this one. Definitely I felt cheated
This is small drone to fly not far. You take another person to track drone when you cross 500m ? Where you fly if that range is not enough for you ?
I've had DJI drones for two years (a Mini and then an Air 2); gave away the Mini, sold the Air 2 and got a Skydio 2+. Ended up HATING the Skydio. Very poor battery life, cannot track with lots of obstacles... will always get hung up and just stop and end up wasting tons of battery while you have to set it straight. Finally said F it and returned it. In fact, I'm STILL waiting for my refund and Skydio has had it for over a week. My Mini 3 Pro is due here next week. DJI's UI and user experience is vastly superior to Skydio.
Definitely the mini 3 with the controller the nano for me has too many issues
Yeah, I found the app to have several niggles. Good camera but the Mini 3 is taking the crown for me!

I think trust in the drone and app is priceless. So for me the mini 3 is the clear winner and choice for me. Really wanted the nano to be better!
I'm own the dji mini 3 Pro. I think the dji would come top, software, camera and advanced flight features.

@@TheDroneCreative I still considering my self an amateur as ive only really had low end drones so this was a big expensive step up. I wanted something that wasn't too restricted from a rules perspective but also 4k with 60fps for my youtube channel. I was so nervous to start with but it's amazing. Going from flying drones that I had to fight with in any wind to the mini pro 3 is incomparable. It just floats in the air. I plan to go to the Slovakian mountains in the summer so lots of drone opportunities. I need to get the fly more kit ..saving up. You helped make the decision on buy the dji and i don't regrets it. Thanks
Years ago I used to support underdogs and buy underdogs such as Xiro Xplorer, Yuneec...etc. I have since given up on them. DJI has the best drones, and this is a fact.

Well to be fair the nano has firmware upgrades to come just like the mini 3 will have and the mini 3 hasn't been aviable for long to properly assess its faults yet there is good and bad in every drone the mini 3 props totally over priced you don't even get a prop guard to transport the mini 3 that how tight dji are after spending all that money on it and I'm not saying any one of them are better than each other I prefer the autel drones and they suit my needs dji have over priced the mini 3 for what it is just my opinion

Autel is like AMD where as DJI is Nvidia if Autel wants to stay relevant with market share it needs to be like AMD with pricing. The nano + is overpriced by $300.

As a novice I think the DJI 3 pro would be easer to fly

The Nano+ has a much better camera! You can not sharp things that does not exist! There is a difference between more details and sharpening. Watching in a big screen you can see a HUGE difference in quality. It has better video definition, better color dynamics, better dynamic range, better in low light and better controller. Bricks controllers belong to the 80's.
Bro hope you trolling lol. The video is obviously oversharpned and pretty much unusable as it is, only in the Log profile it gets better. And sharpening isnt detail, the Mini3 captures more of that, you can always sharpen later but you cant take it away well. DR is worse or equal at best, low light the same. Controller is for sure far worse, handling is a personal preference, just technology wise. I had both kinds of controllers and both work if u adapt.
Autels are copies of the original DJI's, no copies can be better than the originals. Autel will copy the mini pro 3 newer design in the future. Nano+ is a buggy, shaky drone with over sharpen, over saturated videos/photos like a P&S camera. The mini pro 3 is like a DSLR designed for a pro. If you are a pro you would know that!
As a working cinematographer/director I asking you to show me actual scopes and DR tests to claim your claim. A lot of what you say is subjective without scopes and color graphs and DR range tests. I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think you should provide real data to your statements as I own neither. Cheers

don't be naive, dji will take advantage of any competitor! no seed about autel, dji invests massively in youtubers, does anyone remember the launch of the mini 3 the drone was in the hands of youtubers even before the official launch, the mini 3 is not better than the autel evo nano plus in transmission, in camera quality, nor in constructive quality, autel has to add dynamic tracking in updates, but in my opinion autel is even better at crucial points in a drone is autel supports the wind well yes I don't know where they got it support like a mini drone supports! now for gales I recommend a matrix 30 from dji people get what they want

I disagree with you, review too one sided for DJI drone. Autel Nano Plus has a superior camera for video and pictures. Most of the issues you have against the Autel, 1 year later, have been corrected. Also Autel no restrictions, no geofencing. Autel Nano Plus is much cheaper $599 for the premium bundle.
