Guys, Carmilla is a Victorian gothic novel (I study Victorian gothic literature) that predates Stoker’s Dracula. It’s in the public domain, so you can read it whenever you want for free. Do a quick google search and you’ll find it. I’m pretty sure it’s been adapted into (numerous) movies as well, so it’s possible to watch too. And yes, it is about a lesbian vampire.
In anime one of the best studios are called MADHOUSE, They are insane animating sakuga, crazy japanese are good result and crazy american are bad or how this works?
@@montajedelespectador I don't even like to mention studio madhouse and the asylum in the same sentence. I don't understand how the asylum still continues to churn things out. Do they literally have people just like shackled to desks in some warehouse /facility somewhere?! How has this company not gone under yet?!
This is on the same level as that story I came up with during my 10th grade art class. I was following the main tropes of every shonen I can think of. At first, I had big plans for this, but after forgetting and rediscovering it, I realized I was stupid. This movie is something like that.
I actually love how their fangs look, it's really endearing for some reason. I especially love how the goth orc looks. Wait no I also think the animation is nice Plus, I got a genuine laugh from "new orc city" And I think the facial expressions are pretty fun sometimes. And the armor looks cool! And I think the character designs, despite being... oddly familiar and very simple, are nice. And I thought it was funny the way he just said "I'm kidnapping you." That got me! Oh god why do I like this movie
Lloyd: "Surprise! I'm kidnapping you." Barl: (genuinely has to think about it) Also the New Orc City theme isn't that bad. Get rid of the vocals (they're real quite anyways), and it could be good background music.
I don't like how they all have just human skin tones. This is a fantasy world and you can have so many colours to differentiate between the orcs and elves. You had it at the beginning of the movie, why did you drop it suddenly???
Because then it look too similar to Onwards which increases risk of being sued. Its funny how the colour of their skins was the thing they were concerned about, not ripping off the entire movie.
@@alexandreturcotte6411 agreed, Sharknado 2 was a perfect balance of not taking itself seriously but competent enough to be actually enjoyable. I've seen the other movies and there definitely over bloated and terrible

I love how The Asylum is getting gradually more and more blatant about their ripoffs. I mean, they're all shameless, but you go from a movie that only shares a name and creature (Trollz/Trolland) to a movie with a very similar concept (Izzie's Way Home) to straight up having the title, character names and silhouettes be almost identical (they're like DeviantArt recolours, it's amazing). It's like they're seeing how far they can go before getting sued. Nervously awaiting their inevitable knockoff of Soul, where everything is exactly the same except it's called "Spirit" and the main character is an Asian guy called Jack Gardener who loves to play the bassoon.
Every conversation in this “movie” either sounds like a line out of a poorly made rpg or two people messing around in a discord server at like 3 in the morning.
My mother cried in onward because when the older brother was talking about his least favorite memory about his father, he was talking about not being able to go in and see him in his dying hours, my mother had a similar experience when her grandfather was dying. She just couldn’t go in because she would cry.
To the “Spoiler Warning” bro’s: Fair enough, but keep in mind that the main plot of the movie is the blue brothers using a magical staff to bring their dead father back for a day.
Chickenfarmer10 no... more like something Disney would have made live-action in the 70’s. A bit more “hijinky” than “having to chop up your formaldehyded husband”.
Honestly from the clip here, I thought there was sexual tension between the medieval female orc hero and the male elf hero. I’m interested in if hybrids exist in this world. Heck I was hoping Barl was Lloyd’s half-orc half-brother, not adopted brother. That’d have been an interesting angle. Edit: Female orc hero is basically warrior princess Fiona from Shrek 4 too.
How I think the movie should have been liked: change the brothers. The orc brother being Intelligent and kind. While the elf is a stupid and angry Chad. Instead of the orc brother muscular. Why not let him be slightly skinny and short. While the elf is muscular and ripped. Invert exceptions.
Not gonna lie, I definitely thought there was some chemistry between those two. The heroes, I mean. Maybe it would've been a bit clichè-y, but I would've liked a plot about elves and orcs finding out those two were lovers, much to everyone's shock. Maybe after the movie estabilished that elves and orcs both described the two heroes in different ways, the orcs describing the orc heroine as the one who save the day helped by her elven sidekick while the elves did the opposite.
"I think Mockbusters are like store brands. Say you’ve got a cold and you walk into your local Walgreens for some medicine (and a pap smear). You see the Sudafed, and right next to it, in a box that looks remarkably similar to the national brand, the store’s own 'Nasal Decongestant.' I don’t think most people buy the store brand because they think it’s really Sudafed in a different box. I think they buy it because they think it will be similar to Sudafed, only cheaper. Just like our Mockbusters. They’re similar to big studio films, only cheaper. And shittier. If that’s possible." -Paul Bales, Partner/Administrator of The Asylum
oh let me tell you of a store brand version of NyQuil I get that stuff is DAMN strong, and it knocks you out good, kicks the ass of whatever cold or flu I'm dealing with Mockbusters are more like diet or sugar free versions of products in my opinion. It looks similar to the regular stuff, but the taste is awful
The decision to mention Walgreens is interesting. I could see them actually selling asylum DVD's. I've seen DVD's at least as bad there. This movie is one I wouldn't even get from a Redbox, but I bet the other dumbasses would.
Isn't there literally no difference in your example? If you bought Tylenol or Walgreen's brand pain reliever it's pretty much the same exact thing. The only difference is just because Tylenol is branded it's more expensive even though it's the same thing. I'm sorry I got WAY too into this lol
I've seen it... sadly, it's 90% zombies, 10% dream sequences, and both things in the title (Carmilla and Lesbians) are dreams that possibly didn't happen. All in all, do not make my mistake and watch it
I actually love onward and became one of my favorite movies, Since I realate how I grew up knowing only a little about my dad and my brother being there for me, especially when I need him the most
Begining of the movie: Orcs are green and elves are blue though the majority are pasty. The rest of the movie: All orcs are pasty and so are the elves.
I think that was intentional, like it's the result of evolution or something. Why "more primitive" means colorful skin, I don't know, but I at least get what they're going for.
@@imaginekudryavka9485 Did the movie explain why their skin changed? If the answer is "no" (and I expect that's the case), then there is no way you "get what they're going for." It's pure laziness in both cases, you and The Asylum.
"Okay, okay, so we make the modern orcs and elves a lighter colour because it symbolizes their civilized modernity..." "Uh, sir, do you not see anything wrong with that?" "Are you questioning me! ...and let's make the ancient orcs and elves colourful to symbolize..." It's like the producers wanted there to be discourse over the movie.
@@md_vandenberg I did not say it was well thought out or not lazy.
Battle Star Wars looks pretty good to

There’s a reason why they named their company “The Asylum”.
Because these movies don't need to escape to the theaters?
Because they are insane and shouldn't be near others?

Food for thought: Asylum is actually a mental institute and are getting their ideas from severly derranged individuals

Plus, I got a genuine laugh from "new orc city"
And I think the facial expressions are pretty fun sometimes. And the armor looks cool! And I think the character designs, despite being... oddly familiar and very simple, are nice. And I thought it was funny the way he just said "I'm kidnapping you." That got me!
Oh god why do I like this movie
Lloyd: "Surprise! I'm kidnapping you."

Also the New Orc City theme isn't that bad. Get rid of the vocals (they're real quite anyways), and it could be good background music.
lord have mercy is this the birth of a "Homeward" fandom?
I don't like how they all have just human skin tones. This is a fantasy world and you can have so many colours to differentiate between the orcs and elves. You had it at the beginning of the movie, why did you drop it suddenly???
They all have peach skin color
That would have required more effort something The Asylum isn’t really known for.
@@SonicsOfClubPenguin in thr beginning, orcs were their usual green and the elf was blue
Because then it look too similar to Onwards which increases risk of being sued. Its funny how the colour of their skins was the thing they were concerned about, not ripping off the entire movie.

In-Universe reason: Inbreeding

I love how The Asylum is getting gradually more and more blatant about their ripoffs. I mean, they're all shameless, but you go from a movie that only shares a name and creature (Trollz/Trolland) to a movie with a very similar concept (Izzie's Way Home) to straight up having the title, character names and silhouettes be almost identical (they're like DeviantArt recolours, it's amazing). It's like they're seeing how far they can go before getting sued.

“Surprise! I'm kidnapping you. :D”
My only favorite line in this movie
Honestly from the clip here, I thought there was sexual tension between the medieval female orc hero and the male elf hero. I’m interested in if hybrids exist in this world. Heck I was hoping Barl was Lloyd’s half-orc half-brother, not adopted brother. That’d have been an interesting angle.
Edit: Female orc hero is basically warrior princess Fiona from Shrek 4 too.
...........
I thought the same thing. That sounds too creative for Asylum though.
@@ClockworkChandelure I really like this idea tbh, but also it's spelled shock.

If that’s possible."
-Paul Bales, Partner/Administrator of The Asylum
Of course, the difference is that store brand meds are chemically identical to the name brand products, and every bit as effective.
Except the store brands aren't that bad, sometime even better than brand quality. But for mockbustets, it's always bad.
