The raiders picked at the edges of the socials’ society with surgical precision, causing ripples through it and worsening the instability, before finding their perfect moment to tip the house of cards and seize control of things. After driving out the socials from their cities, the raiders slowly began to fill the empty space, only to run into a different problem; their tendency to simply lay eggs and abandon them was incompatible with their new domestic lifestyles, often violently so. They couldn’t trust the socials to raise their young, and there was no way in hell they’d do it themselves, and so they searched the former databases of the socials for a solution. It’s this which eventually leads them to Earth and its moms. 2. In accordance with the new characterization of the raiders, and in service of verisimilitude, the raiders don’t bother putting in much time to study individual human subjects and just *happen* to find Milo’s mom perfect. Instead, they just take large numbers of women from scattered locations across the globe, then scan their minds to see if they fit the appropriate psychological profile; then they extract whatever knowledge they can before disposing of them. 3. Joa ! It really is and it’s my favorite! Disney should give it more recognition. But if they did they might live action it. So it’s better if it stays underrated rather than end up like The Lion King.
I remember being traumatized watching this movie as a kid. I was at sleepaway camp in elementary school and everyone was super homesick. The leaders decided to have a movie night. Same. I watched this movie when I was about 4 with my face like an inch away from the tv in the dark at night. When I saw the part when the mom got kidnapped I looked back at my mom sleeping and was terrified she was gonna get kidnapped
I saw it when I was like 10 at a friend's house and when my mom came to pick me up I went crying too her, I guess the movie helps kids appreciate there moms more?
It’s pretty clear that the weird designs for the martians were caused because the mocap requires a character that’s very human-like to translate the motion well. But they just apparently deformed certain features to the extreme so that they looked alien enough while still being workable with mocap. And then they made the strange decision to give them very human hair and skin. It makes them look like deformed apes and it’s just uncanny.
@@aaronlandry3934 They clearly didn't. I mean it's pretty obvious they took liberties all over the place with everything except for the basic story setup. I mean the character designs of the aliens are the most egregious by far. Whoever signed off on thinking they were cute or good should have not just been fired but blacklisted from Hollywood forever.
My five year old self was NOT emotionally prepared to watch a flash back about some kid's mom hooked into a weird machine and murdered via obliteration.
I actually liked John Carter. You just have to recognise it for what it is: It's a tribute to a lost genre, old science fantasy from a time when the solar system was a much more mysterious place where anything might exist.
The thing that amazed me was that they go to Mars, meet an entirely different species, and yet they STILL manage to include a manic pixie dream girl character.

What I remember from the movie was that the aliens didn't knew how to raise their kids and basically where looking for a mom who was perfect for racing kids(Milo's mom) because she had a great balance. While the martians where looking for strict moms, they saw mothers give what their kids what they wanted, but when they saw Milo take out the trash, they said 'okay this is a strict mother' and decided to take her. I was very young but I remember this movie bc it traumatized me so much because of the needle scene. Just human experiments make me so uneasy and so idk.
My mom just cries her eyes out and starts asking if she’s bad, she knows I'm weak for people who cry. Another thing she does is scream angrily and starts saying that she’ll die if I don't do “anything” even if I'm helping Yay my mom.

The weirdest thing about the animation to me is how every character holds their arms close to an A-pose while they idle. I think it must be something they do to avoid having to clean up clipping geometry later on, but it results in every character hover-handing their own hips when they could be leaning on a wall or slouching with their hands in their pockets or doing literally anything natural with their arms at idle. Come to think of it, this must be why these films tend to have exaggerated and awkward movement when two characters interact. Like they'll never actually hug or high-five, it's always awkward floating. It's physically uncomfortable to look at.
Exactly, like just make their arms a BIT lower my dudes, it's not that hard. The whole clipping thing is like okay yea, but their arms can go lower than that while still having nothing clip. Another thing that would help is to have the damn actors STANDING IN THAT POSE when calibrating Like damn
Honestly can we just appreciate how Saber doesn’t just hate on movies, but actually gives good constructive criticism? It’s so refreshing to have content like this 👌
@ThatOneCringeyAnimator yeah, I think the one reason that has been theorized is that Disney didn't like how expensive it was. Specifically, they didn't like how expensive deep-canvassing and its mixture of 2D and 3D was.
My high-school literature class discussed the animated Beowulf movie this company made. Their interpretation of Grendel’s mother became a running joke being “sexy Grendel’s mother”, because of how horrifically portrayed the character was.
i read the book as a kid and heres what i remember of the plot: this kid doesnt like his mom and doesnt really appreciate her. the martians dont have moms and theyre kinda sad, so they steal this kids mom. she drives them to their soccer practices and is nice to them and all that. its wholesome. then the kid is like "dang... i miss my mom" and i forgot how but he goes to mars and at first hes like "wtf, give me my mom back" and theyre like "but shes so nice! we dont have moms on mars" and he says "thats rough buddy" i forgot the ending i havent read the book in like 9 years but,,,, this movie is a disgrace.
I‘m crying is this actually the book? The movie went kinda sorta wild with the whole "we‘ll kill your mum cause you we don’t wanna raise children" thing
*99% of the complaints are just whiney youtube bs.* 1) "The concept not being like the original book means it is stupid." This is very shallow criticism. Shrek originally was just a children's book with simple story, where an ogre just wrecks stuff and then finds an ogre princess just as ugly as him and they marry. Shrek the movie was a completely different story, but no one complains about that! It seems hardly any of you know it is not uncommon practice for the American film industry to buy rights to various IP without using them for years, just in case of future lawsuits for plagiarism. So some film production buys multiple IPs that are loosely similar even when they have or may not have a central IP it is based on. 2) Claiming it was terribly stupid to send the message "Remember kids, listening to your mom gets them abducted!" That's not what they are sending at all. By that logic, Lion King is a terrible movie for children because it explicitly sends the message: "Remember kids, your uncles are evil people who want to kill your dad!" Besides, Gribble straight up says that's a terrible truth a kid like him had to cope with! So what even is the problem, then?

Mars Meets Mom is the only motion cap movie I didn't care about. I liked the others. ESPECIALLY Polar Express. That movie is still my favorite Christmas movie.
also... if the martians are native to mars... why do they need to breath earth-like air? Why do they have to wear the space helmets on the actual martian terrain? I think Ki's obsession with color is cute but I agree the attempted flirt relationship between her and Gribble is... uncomfortable at best. I have to say the mom waking up to be on mars and just screaming was hilarious. But its not even what I'd say is appropriate screaming. Shes just yelling, there's no actual feeling of surprise or fear or confusion that I would expect when waking up to find yourself on a completely different planet with no memory of how you got there.
There are some seems where the aliens are just smiling. And I'm just thinking... HOW DO THEY BREATHE WITH THEIR MOUTHS CLOSED?! They don't have noses! What?!

Ive seen this before. I swear I have. It’s uncanny, so uncanny. I don’t recognize 99% of these scenes, except for the mom almost getting vaporized and stuff, which to me brings back memories of terror. I thought my mom was going to get vaporized one day because of this movie. I was terrified.
Same! I think it’s because the mo-cap in that movie is bad for mo-cap standards so it lacks the uncanny valley aspect. So it just looks like normal computer animation. Does that make sense?
That Grible guy is hilarious. You know, martians literally desintegrated his mom, does he hate aliens and want revenge? Nah, he's got the thiccest martian waifu! Sorry mommy! Buh bye!
YESsss. Same but I sill remembered it 7 years later and I still watch it now and then. It is a special movie because I watched it with my Grandma...😶❤😔
I remember when I was a kid, my mom visited for a day and read the book to my class and I sat up at the front with her during it and as she was introducing the book a classmate said something like “is it funny like the movie?” and kid me just super matter-of-factly responded instantly with “it’s sweet” I think my mom was quite proud of me in that moment lmfao

Mars needs moms: is a huge failure Arctic dogs: finally, a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary! Edit: yes, I get it, this is an overused meme so this isn't funny or whatever. You don't have to remind me
to be fair to the kid and the writing of the kid, I also acted like the kid when I was younger, and I think it's more realistic that as soon as his mom was taken away, he wanted her back. At least to me, If it SOMEHOW happened to me as a kid, I'd be bawling my eyes out during all of it cause I never actually wanted to not have a mom, I just wanted more freedom. I never hated my mom. The least realistic thing about the kid to me is that he isn't crying enough. lol
@@zad_rasera Sure that moment took it back to being a children's movie but the two children in the movie that symbolize ignorance and greed {I think} were pretty darn creepy.

I was one of the few who saw this movie in the theater when I was seven and actually used to think it was pretty intense lol. I don’t think I’d think that now though. I also couldn’t tell if it was animated or live action, it was so surreal for me back then.
This is kinda sad, Disney was trying to bring something new and original and it flopped, I’m not saying that the movie was good, but at least they tried, now they don’t even take the risk of doing something new or original, for real, the last original movie from Disney Animation Studios was Moana... in 2016 and Zootopia too, Disney should take a leap of faith with new projects
That will be unlikely because they own like the 80% percent of worldwide entertainment. If one project flops... don't worry, they can take the money back by parasiting a FOX, Marvel... property. As a monopoly, they are barely risking anything. But yes, there is actual talent in Disney that deserves a chance to shine, you're spot on there!
During the scene when they go back to Earth, Gribble would collapse on the ground, because he would have to readapt to Earth's gravity, especially since he's been on Mars for OVER 20 YEARS!
Just imagine your child says something incredibly hurtful to you and you're husband's like "I'M GONNA MAKE THAT A BOOK THEN A MOVIE SO YOU CANT JUST FORGET ABOUT IT"
God I remember watching this movie. At the end, my mom joked that she had to go to Mars now and pretended to go outside and walk away and I cried(I was around 6 at the time I think)
Gribble experienced his mom's death Ran away from home Has crazy personality References stuff from the 80s Falls in love with alien Girl Gribble is Star lord?! We can all agree that Disney executed this arc well the second time
I’m way too over attached to The Polar Express to call it creepy. I find the mo-cap to be much nicer than a lot of others, and it has a very beautiful story and music score.

It's because their anatomy is....
Unfit for mocap.
Exactly, like just make their arms a BIT lower my dudes, it's not that hard. The whole clipping thing is like okay yea, but their arms can go lower than that while still having nothing clip.

2) Claiming it was terribly stupid to send the message "Remember kids, listening to your mom gets them abducted!"
That's not what they are sending at all.
By that logic, Lion King is a terrible movie for children because it explicitly sends the message:
"Remember kids, your uncles are evil people who want to kill your dad!"

also... if the martians are native to mars... why do they need to breath earth-like air? Why do they have to wear the space helmets on the actual martian terrain? I think Ki's obsession with color is cute but I agree the attempted flirt relationship between her and Gribble is... uncomfortable at best. I have to say the mom waking up to be on mars and just screaming was hilarious. But its not even what I'd say is appropriate screaming. Guys, it’s not the way that the (evil) person that (should burn) is the Ice Age Baby LOOKS, but rather what (that piece of crap) did.
@@CharlesVDoktaur no İce age baby is not bad.
How’s your day?

hard to swallow pills: Mars Needs Moms is a Disney movie
I'm so happy it's a Disney movie
@@Ghost-ce9tz wtf why are you happy?
Seen the movie...I didn't like it, but I didn't hate it.
@@heroessquad2019 same
@@DRUMCANJONES22 you 2 are heroes.
Disney really knows how to make thicc characters.
(Looks at Nani from Lilo & Stitch) They sure do
Still Frick them
What was that one chick who was a big innuendo in The Road To El Dorado? Chel?
@@galaxydoes8034 Yes, it was Chel, who, in my honest opinion, is one of the hottest animated characters ever created.
Mrs. Incredible gon make me act up 😳
Is anyone gonna talk about how the humans went outside with just a GOD DAMN SPACE HELMET AND NO SPACE SUIT NOT EVEN DUCT TAPE
A Christmas Carole was good; a much more serious/scary take on the tale.
i thought it was a goofier version. i don't remember scrooge launching like a rocket ship when he met the ghost of christmas past in the book.
@@zad_rasera Sure that moment took it back to being a children's movie but the two children in the movie that symbolize ignorance and greed {I think} were pretty darn creepy.
I loved that movie growing up, but it did scare me so bad
I actually remember watching this when I was younger and I was like terrified
Watching that movie as a kid was never a good idea and my mum put it on many times. I hated it
for some reason when I was young, I remember enjoying this film. I wasn't afraid of the designs and I got emotionally sad when the mother sacrificed her helmet to her son. it made me cry :c
This movie was so comforting to me and I thought Ki was so pretty and gribble was so funnt it's a core memory to me idk
This was a family movie and we watched it a lot of times. Loved it
As opposed to physically sad lmao
Same, and I remember my dad being like "but it's literal garbage" and I was like "shut up i love it"
Me to
This movie scared me to death as a kid. I kept my eye on my mom all the time after this movie for 3 months.
Mia Sanchez lol that’s too cute
Same here lol 😂
Haha same
Mia Sanchez too fucking reletable man 😢. It’s funny now but then it was scary
It really scared me that aliens were going to take my mom
Danna Gámez Castañeda honestly though!!
@@domingadoflaminga3961 actually most of the money they made was from the theme parks
Well now they’re trying live action remakes and we can see how that’s going for them...
It happened many times in the 90’s and 00’s
This movie scarred me as a kid but I could not stop watching it. I can’t even comprehend it was a Disney film.
Stockholm Syndrome?
WRNG@!!!
This felt it was made by Touchstone.
So you’re a masochist?
Same. I had such a morbid fascination with this movie that I watched it like ten times.
Being stuck on mars for several years, Gribble looks like he’s eating well.
Yi
During the scene when they go back to Earth, Gribble would collapse on the ground, because he would have to readapt to Earth's gravity, especially since he's been on Mars for OVER 20 YEARS!
I wonder about a brute pack from halo on this movie's Mars, they would wreck shit because of the gravity.
Gribble experienced his mom's death
Ran away from home
Has crazy personality
References stuff from the 80s
Falls in love with alien Girl
Gribble is Star lord?! We can all agree that Disney executed this arc well the second time
that's exactly what i was thinking!
You forgot about the god part
@@boiitbespamtongspamton4518 "What am I supposed to say Jesus?!"
Well....replace "ran away from home" with "abducted by aliens"
That could also be Dale Gribble from King of the Hill, so which Gribble are we talking about, lol??
I’m way too over attached to The Polar Express to call it creepy. I find the mo-cap to be much nicer than a lot of others, and it has a very beautiful story and music score.
Yes. That movie was my favorite Christmas movie. Like I wanted to be that kid and it felt magical to me.
Same. :)
I loved it!
I guess that's why I think it's creepy cause I never was attached to that movie nor did I ever like it.
Yes but those aliens DISGUSTING UGLY, JonTron: THAT WAS A LOAD OF SHIT
