So the antagonist has been winning the singing contest for 10,000 years. As far as researchers have found, Dia de los Muertos has roots in beliefs about 3,000 years old (give or take). She's literally older than the holiday the movie's themed after. It makes perfect sense.
Well if you take into account that from the start of the movie to the end of the movie, 4 years? that not a single character aged- then it makes perfect sense... I think 🤔 /jokeing
It gets even better, because she's supposedly from a culture that's only existed for about 500 years, and her bat is just casually wearing technology that's existed for less than 100 years.
The person the skeletons in both Día of the Dead and Coco is based off of is Frida Kahlo. She was a famous Mexican painter who gained her immense fame after she died. I did a presentation on her for Spanish immersion. She painted pictures to represent her chronic pain but because her husband, (which she divorced and married several times), was also a painter, she didn’t get credit for her art until long after she died. Because of this, we still don’t know how many art pieces she really made.
Some other facts about Frida: She married Diego Rivera, who is another important and iconic Mexican artist. Both were communist, and housed Leon Trotsky when he was exiled by Stalin, who ended up being killed in Mexico anyways.
Fun fact: BC Fourteen is an actual person, and that is his actual name. The reviews to his movies are mostly to predominantly negative. He also wrote a movie called "Trump vs. the Illuminaghti".

I love how the kid pictured on the official poster looks nothing like the one in the movie. Luchadora Shrek Mom and Frida Kahlo Skeleton are nowhere to be seen either. It makes me think it was originally WAY more similar to Coco, but they decided to change mid-production and kept the concept poster art for whatever reason
aside from the color banners (papel piquado) clipping so distractingly, i think the biggest tragedy is that the son ages four years throughout the story, but still looks like an infant by the end.
Coco: it was very great with the story, the animation, the music, pretty much *EVERYTHING!!!* Dia of the dead: *_should've been called caca because that's what it looks like._*
I would say I am curious as to how the child on the cover of Dia Of The Dead, that is a young girl and was probably intended to be the daughter, somehow became a Male Luchador Diaper Baby in the final release, but given it is WowNow I don't think there is any logical reason to be had.
5:08 In real world there was a song that had no lyrics yet became a hit in whole Asia and South America. It was called "Papaya" and it was made by Urszula Dudziak.
weird thing that really freaks me out: the mom and kid both have visible faces and blink separate from the masks but the dad has only a tiny spot for the nose that you can’t really see and the mask blinks when he does. i don’t think the dad is a human
When I heard the name WOWNow, many deeply hidden memories of me watching all their movies for laughs returned to me. We cannot allow this monstrous being of a studio to exist any longer.
What I'm getting from this story is that the mom died and the dad has to tell the son a sugar-coated story about how she went to go be a singer and if this was realistic, they wouldn't actually go to the spirit world unless they traveled like Miguel did, anyway, they go to her grave and the son understands she's dead. Overall I think I lost my mind trying to understand this movie xD

i love every movie that you can recognize free-use motion capture idles in. like around 5:00 mark the offbrand Coco lady does that arm swing that I've seen literal Roblox games have as an animation idle for your characters.
In the scene where Hector revealed that he tried what he did because he wanted to see his family again, you really felt it, you could see how much he loved them because the cinematorgaphy was that good at conveying it. The expressions, the angles, the lighting, Hector's vocal tone, all wonderfully executed. And the moment he decided he was going back to his family, he didn't let anyone stand in his way, not even Ernesto. If it weren't for Ernesto poisoning Hector, he would have seen his family! I know Hector went away in the first place, but he still wrote to Coco while out and about. I say all that because the mom in this is basically our Hector, but missing any of the charm. She has no excuse to go to the land of the dead two years in advance, her facial expression nor the cinematography were good enough to convey her seemingly caring about her family, and even if she was being honest, she was a pushover and let that mummy convince her to stay!
Book of Life is a pretty decent movie too. Not as good as Coco but I liked it. The ending of Coco with Miguel singing for his great grandmother still brings tears to my eyes. That's a mark of great storytelling there. It's able to bring out emotion in the viewer.
I didn't know Mamá Lucha was such a deadbeat mom. (For those who don't know, look it up. It's a mexican mascot for a supermarket chain and they totally ripped her off)
I've just realized that my favorite Sabrespark videos are the ones where he gets angry. I genuinely feel good about knowing someone else can have such a negative reaction to a bad movie. Did anyone else notice the... weirdness with the dad's arms? Is it just me, or does it look like they're backwards or something?
I think the default skeleton models are very charming. I like the flat faces and talking without any bottom jaws, they are kinda cute. Wownow probably stole them lol
I do not expect WowNow to give as much of a shit to actually make their own models for ANYTHING I bet everything in this production was either commissioned for cheap, or downright stolen, put together by a poorly paid editor, and sold by greedy people who know nothing about art or even what the movie was about, that they wrote on one night on a fucking napkin, to look like something popular
Renowned painter, Frida Kahlo, is such an amazing singer that she managed to win a contest 1000 years in a row despite the fact that she only would have been 115 years old if she were still alive today, apparently.
The title I can see working- like the main character being named 'Dia' and traveling to the land of the dead But notice how the girl on the cover isnt even in the movie? The luchador dad is, but the girl? Nowhere to be seen. Pretty much one of those movies that is completely different from the cover-like that one called 'Braver' that's just a repackaged holiday princess movie, or that 'Tangled Up' that is just several 'Britannica's Fairy Tales From Around The World' that just has a Rapunzel story shoved in the middle
ok so like i rly need to put this out here . im mexican and the luchadora mom looks EXACTLY like the mascot of bodega aurrerá which is a common grocery store chain you find almost everywhere here. i cannot express just how much i began laughing when i saw her in this video LOL
She left two years ago for an ANNUAL singing competition! So she already failed once or twice in winning a singing competition, that in no way could possible make her renowned because everyone in the audience is dead, and still refused to go home to her kid
Dia De Los Muertos is also a way to celebrate your passed loved ones life. As you’ve seen in Coco and The Book of Life (love both movies by the way) fiestas are put in place to celebrate the life they have lived instead of mourning their death. Ofrendas showcasing things they’ve enjoyed during their life are made are also made to honor your ancestors. Sorry if I can’t get that in depth of an explanation. I’ve never celebrated day of the dead. Why should this be legible then? My sources: I’m mexican

Most every company listing Delaware as their base of operations only does so because of their extremely lenient tax laws. If you're listed as a Delaware company, but don't actually do business in Delaware, then you don't pay any corporate taxes. Tons of companies abuse this so never take the "based out of Delaware" finding as evidence of actual location.

It makes me think it was originally WAY more similar to Coco, but they decided to change mid-production and kept the concept poster art for whatever reason
well the kid on the cover is clearly a girl
so maybe she was called Dia
but then for some reason cut her but forgot to re-do the cover
The masks blinking with the characters like it was their skin got a good chuckle out of me, along with the blinking eye holes of the skeletons lol
It does not make sense 😂
@@unicattyLT it very much does not 😂
@@joeyteter9383 agreed 😂😂😂
to be fair that also kind of happens in coco
@@mastertrinny9011 no it doesn't. The coco skeletons have eyebalss
Genuinely surprised Saber doesn’t know who Frida is, especially since she was also in Coco
The fact all the skeletons have like. Traditional Peruvian clothing in a supposedly Mexican setting is just. MUAWH. icing of the cake.
I feel so bad for you Saber, why do you have to suffer for us. I just think you need therapy, get well soon.
Guys he hearted it it’s real also the reply section is just filled with bots omfg
youtube execs, probably: "removing bots??? nahh let's just watch it get worse. let's see if we can get 500 on a single comment."
I agree
@@Saga_Anserum Looking at these replies it really does start to look like they're trying to break some record or something...
aside from the color banners (papel piquado) clipping so distractingly, i think the biggest tragedy is that the son ages four years throughout the story, but still looks like an infant by the end.
Coco: it was very great with the story, the animation, the music, pretty much *EVERYTHING!!!*
Dia of the dead: *_should've been called caca because that's what it looks like._*
I laughed while reading this comment
POV: a kindergartner makes a movie
I couldn't stop laughing
The fact that caca means shit in spanish makes it all the more funny
😂🤣
I would say I am curious as to how the child on the cover of Dia Of The Dead, that is a young girl and was probably intended to be the daughter, somehow became a Male Luchador Diaper Baby in the final release, but given it is WowNow I don't think there is any logical reason to be had.
100 likes and no replies? Time to fix it!
Also consider the fact that the son's name is chica (which translates to girl)...
5:08 In real world there was a song that had no lyrics yet became a hit in whole Asia and South America. It was called "Papaya" and it was made by Urszula Dudziak.
weird thing that really freaks me out:
the mom and kid both have visible faces and blink separate from the masks but the dad has only a tiny spot for the nose that you can’t really see and the mask blinks when he does. i don’t think the dad is a human
right like his mask IS his face. he could never take it off,, shivers
Perhaps he's related to Strong Bad...
@Tyler Marshall fr
@@khakisohn9710If they made that an actual plot point in the movie, it would be somewhat interesting and not super boring lol
When I heard the name WOWNow, many deeply hidden memories of me watching all their movies for laughs returned to me. We cannot allow this monstrous being of a studio to exist any longer.
@im sacred I've always wanted to learn how to make potato wedges my life is fulfilled
*11:15* You probably mean a Solar Flare, a violent outburst of the sun that affects Earth's magnetic fields and can very rarely be powerful enough to short-circuit the entire world's powerlines.
Know your astronomy, my friends!
Their name makes so much more sense now because all their movies make people say,
"Wow, Now that's bad Entertainment."
Fckin genius
I truly appreciated how sabre explained the plot with interpretive screams
Never commented on one of your videos before, but as a pretty longtime subscriber, hi Saber! Love your content and all the work you do! Also, I can't wait for this horrible film company deep dive. The fact that BC Fourteen is an actual human being though. I can't believe the guy's actually real.
I'd like to imagine WowNow has no humans behind it. It's just an AI that just to spits movies out
Why would an Al need money.

@u know me no
All of WowNow’s money they had to produce this movie went into that lamp in the background @3:55
It's nice hearing someone bring up Book of Life. So damn underrated and a really fun movie.
Fr, its incredibly underrated. It was my childhood and to this day is a big part of my life 😭😭
i love every movie that you can recognize free-use motion capture idles in. like around 5:00 mark the offbrand Coco lady does that arm swing that I've seen literal Roblox games have as an animation idle for your characters.
Knowing Wow Now's main voice actor is a man named Shrock will always make me smile
@RR OH MY FUCKING GOD GUYS THE FULL CLIP IS HERE EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY
He's not as of January. He passed away
@@Saxophone_King rest in peace shrock- wow now can't hurt you in heaven 🙏🏽
Book of Life is a pretty decent movie too. Not as good as Coco but I liked it. The ending of Coco with Miguel singing for his great grandmother still brings tears to my eyes. That's a mark of great storytelling there. It's able to bring out emotion in the viewer.

I didn't know Mamá Lucha was such a deadbeat mom.
(For those who don't know, look it up. It's a mexican mascot for a supermarket chain and they totally ripped her off)
FRRR mfs were so desperate they ripp off mamá lucha
Mama Lucha’s not happy about WowNow ripping off her design!
“They have a singing contest in the land of the dead”
They’re not even trying to hide how blatant this is.
Back then when creating content, the question used to be "can it be better?"
Now it's simply "can it be worse?"
I've just realized that my favorite Sabrespark videos are the ones where he gets angry. I genuinely feel good about knowing someone else can have such a negative reaction to a bad movie.
Did anyone else notice the... weirdness with the dad's arms? Is it just me, or does it look like they're backwards or something?
absolutely, it looked like they were shoddily stitched onto a muscle body
I fucking love those videos too
I felt great fear when I saw the thumbnail, meaning I had to click on the video immediately.
Everytime I see the lucha-dad talking in this video, his forsaken mouth animation grips my mind more and more with it's horrible claws
I think the default skeleton models are very charming. I like the flat faces and talking without any bottom jaws, they are kinda cute. Wownow probably stole them lol
he says they did, yea. a lot 3d models you can buy to use for animated projects or games!
I do not expect WowNow to give as much of a shit to actually make their own models for ANYTHING
I bet everything in this production was either commissioned for cheap, or downright stolen, put together by a poorly paid editor, and sold by greedy people who know nothing about art or even what the movie was about, that they wrote on one night on a fucking napkin, to look like something popular
The skeletons look a lot like Vortigaunts from Half Life. The missing bottom jaw with teeth sticking out is exactly the same
They stole Audrey 2 once.
@@brendankendall41 Very true! I love the designs in half life too so maybe that's why it hit me like that lol.
Renowned painter, Frida Kahlo, is such an amazing singer that she managed to win a contest 1000 years in a row despite the fact that she only would have been 115 years old if she were still alive today, apparently.
The title I can see working- like the main character being named 'Dia' and traveling to the land of the dead
But notice how the girl on the cover isnt even in the movie?
I just want to say, thank you so much for making these videos! It's obvious how much time and effort you put into your content and I promise I'm speaking for everyone when I say we really appreciate it!!! Thank you so much Saber!
A WowNow documentary? I’m in! I’m expecting it to be 1-2 hours long with a nice balance of humor and information. Overall, I’m hoping this will be so inspiring that I’ll make a story off of this.
Also, as someone who lives in Oahu, I don’t think the company building is here unless it’s some online group thing.

My dogs name is Coco and when we went to see the movie in theaters I kept thinking of her cause I originally named her after the cereal. [Coco puffs] Now I can't help but think of the movie/holiday and it makes me happy that the name i chose fit her in the end

In México we have this chain of stores called Bodega ahorrera, the point is that it has this mascot called mamá lucha, and is practically the same model as the mother in this movie
They ripped off her too

Dia de los Muertos is a Latin American celebration not just Mexican, but Mexico celebrates on a much larger scale. Nov 1st is for children who have passed and Nov 2 is for all who have passed.
3:34 Stone Age was revolutionary compared to that. Do you know that bull painting on Lascaux cave has a map of star costelation in it?

Okay, the clothing pins holding up their clothes is A LITTLE creative. They probably stole it, but I find it neat
I'd also like to point out that many of the bootleg skeletons are wearing Peruvian hats as well, which is an entirely different culture since this is "supposed" to take place in Mexico
The fact that the mom, dad, and son are all dressed as luchador's for some reason reminds me of that CN show Much Lucha. Except here, they just stick out like a sore thumb, because no one else is walking around dressed like that.
