And I thought the Sonic movie was bad.
the biggest difficulty about recording this 3 years ago was how we were dubbing this into english and had to match “mouth flaps” that already existed. and we pretty much recorded line-by-line without context for the scenes or story arc, etc. there was also a focus on keeping the voice acting silly and childish for some reason.
I appreciate the explanation. For the record, you got better with your recording as the movie went on. While I was editing, I was wondering how much of this was due to dubbing and maybe direction. I hope I don't come across as a jerk in the vid. It was rough but but you also have potential with voice acting

This was cool. I was curious about your involvement with the movie as I’ve never heard of this or your roles in voice acting. Honestly, I found it funny how you stretched it with the voice. It wasn’t too bad as it did feel a bit distinct from your own, being a bit more “silly and childish” as you put it, but it obviously needs some work. Still though, I wouldn’t mind seeing how you’d fare in voice acting with a bit more liberty to do so with.
Anyway, this was a weird one.

I always felt like it’d be really cool to see Anthony (and a lot of other classic content creators) get a real chance in voice acting or just any major film or project really. I’ve noticed cameos in mainstream blockbusters once in a while but they all feel kinda goofy and cheap and sometimes even kinda pandering.
There’s a whole generation of us that saw smosh and plenty of other RUclipsrs as on par with “real” celebrities growing up. Given the right context and good reviews, seeing “Anthony Padilla” on a movie poster would be a definite eye catcher for me and probably plenty of others. Guess that’s up to the studios though.
Fun Fact: THERE IS a Sonic knockoff movie releasing on DVD around May 15th to compete with the Sonic the Hedgehog movie... it's called "Andy the Talking Hedgehog".

@Ian Danna ..... "Sonic: Journey to Hell" .... checkout the "Andy the Talking Hedgehog" trailer on youtube, you won't be disappointed. The film started production in 2017, but only now is getting release on DVD in late May of 2019.... you can preorder a copy at Best Buy.....

Not gonna lie, the first film sucked and it's only redeeming factors were Jim Carrey and the fact that it has the honor of being the best CGI animal / human buddy movie.
The sequel however, was actually pretty good and made better use of the Sonic IP.

honestly this animation actually looks kind of good, and the voices sound kind of good. Then again, I've been binge watching your videos recently, so maybe it's only because it just happens to seem halfway competent when compared directly to stuff like What's Up and Trolland.
I think it's easy to have high expectations if the only point of reference is a studio with the resources and fame to push animation forward with each movie. I was thinking "This movie looks like it was from 2006-2009, generously" but then I remembered it wouldn't be a fair comparison.
And yeah it's miles ahead of some of those other bad films haha.

*LOTS OF TEXT AHEAD*
Okay so I actually watched the movie myself and there's a lot this doesn't explain. In an earlier scene, the three that were trying to track the hedgehog in the building had to go into an elevator, since the hedgehog went up into the elevator to run away from them. By the way, these three grew on me because you can tell them apart (how one is short, one t h i c c, and one just in the "middle") and they all have different voices. The t h i c c one actually has a voice that sounds like the mean dog in UP with the screwed up collar. When they all get into the elevator, I was expecting some kind of "heehee elevator gag," like music, or some awkward shuffling; but no, the middle sized one just pulls out his phone, and the other two lean in and do poses for the photo. It caught me so off guard, and it was the kind of shit that actual real buddies would do, and it had me ROLLING. That was the best gag for me of the movie, and I kinda loved the scenes with them, then. After that, it was super eerie like how it said in the video. At 10:18 , it was actually extremely hard to translate from hearing the TV so I turned subtitles on, but basically the same middle sized one ( *which is like their leader of their group* ) tells them, "I love you guys! Please, please don't let go." Then that's where the video cuts it; but in the movie, they actually let go to salute and say "Yes sir." I would've been sooo shocked if they actually just killed him, but his gun catches the side and he lives, and then they continue to chase the animals. The scenes with the actual animals are just sappy and boring, dragging plot. By far my favorite characters were those three because of the shocking and hilarious moments they had, and the overall "friend" dynamic. I live to that statement until the ending, where those guys in the masks are just uselessly beat up by animals and It's disappointing and pathetic (not only that but there's a lot of the guys in the mask so the uniqueness of the three just go away because you can no longer tell the difference). And you're exactly right-- that still doesn't get rid of the, "what the fuck?" factor at all! I was surprised as well. I figured out that the dude taking the picture was the same leader of the three just from voice and looking at the phones (they looked like the same model?). After he takes the picture and falls down, the animals rip off the black glasses and he's all like, "Aaaah the virus it got me!! Run!" It was so confusing. Then all those masked men run away, and the rest is the boss dude with the red armor. Ending was disappointing and boring but I will never forget going into this movie mostly blind (only watched 10 minutes of the video), because the beginning of this movie is so much fun to make fun of! It's just too stereotypical at the end..
If you have Netflix, I recommend watching it up until he's underground with the Underground hedgehogs, because from there on it gets extremely obnoxious.
