Whenever seeing a beautiful building at a dealership, the first thing that comes to mind is I’m paying for this when buying or servicing my car. And there’s dealer installed items we don’t want inflating the price and haggling causing a miserable buying experience. That’s why I prefer buying direct from the manufacturer like Tesla or Rivian.

Agreed. This will save a lot for Keeler kinda like Tesla’s Fremont factory from Toyota 🤔

But I’ve waited and waited for the MY. Waiting til the 25 refresh comes out and hoping to put down a very large down payment

....most down on Hyundai / Genesis haven't owned one in at least 8-10 years (talking with people who have had a bad experience). I've owned several Kia cars and most recently have a Hyundai Santa Cruz which I've not any issues with except a defect in the seat bottom of the passenger side seat which the dealer took care of no questions asked. You're still not getting a $100k S Class or 7 Series but you're not paying super high maintenance costs (after the included service runs out) or high parts prices. You're also not taking the butt kicking in depreciation either. Haters are mostly folks that want the brand cache and want to appear to be rich.

    • @LetsGoBrandonOne

The depreciation on Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is brutal. Follow the market a bit, you'll see.

Hi Dave! I grew up in Wilton, CT, only leaving the area once I left for college. I always love watching your 'local' drive content as I have spent the last 35 years of my life on the west coast, in Oregon, and I only get to see the area I built all my early life memories in through your videos. Next time you're out for a sunny day drive on camera, could you consider heading down to the Wilton / Ridgefield area? It is absolutely beautiful (as is Fairfield County in general). Thanks for the content!

Same deal here in WA.. the EV Genesis dealer has been in a series of 3 temporary locations while there ‘official’ space gets built out.
1 EV trained and certified dealer for the entire state.. service appointments are a month out. Gonna be amazing eventually, but right now at first glance it all appears a bit makeshift and amateur hour.

It may be that after the new building is finished they'll focus on that while still maintaining the existing location and perhaps put some additional money in to it - depending on how large the service center is that could be a focus of that location as well (selling new, some used, but mainly servicing cars in the area).

My local (Central Ohio) Genesis dealership is miles worse. I bought a G70 8 months ago and I absolutely love the car but it was the worst buying experience I've ever experienced. My service experience since has been just as bad. Makes it hard to recommend to others.

I will agree that the dealership model is broken but they have to play by the rules and politics that are in place (and have been for decades) - people don't understand that. Manufacturers CAN provide an easy, accurate, and transparent way to buy a new car - the dealers can still make a buck in the process with "destination" and actual value add products (not bogus things like undercoating or key replacement plans that cost more than a new key) - and where a customer wants to interact with a salesperson - most of us would prefer not to but some still do.

What do you expect from Hyundai? They make crap. I bought a sonata once. It was a disaster. Never again. Scotty Kilmer did a video of a genesis with 100k miles vs Lexus. The genesis had a lot of wear on the cams. The Lexus had almost none. These are not well made products. Way too many dealerships for genesis. Not that popular.

Unfortunately, until the laws in as many states change direct to customer from the manufacturer isn't going to happen - franchise laws "prevent it" - Tesla doesn't have to since they've never had a dealer network but Tesla can't be sold in some states because of it.
I bought a 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz and the only thing the dealer was used for was to take delivery - it was ordered through Hyundai's "concierge" - the dealership I chose called to confirm the choices and when it arrived they called to let me know it was in. I had arranged (through Hyundai) the loan and terms beforehand and to keep the transaction simple I sold (not traded) my other vehicle as a separate deal. I was in and out in about an hour and most of that was learning about the new vehicle. BTW I paid $1400 under MSRP and at 0.0% which at the time (Aug of 2021) was a pretty darn good deal (at or below MSRP for that vehicle)...

    • @Scotty_in_Ohio
      @Scotty_in_Ohio 10 дней назад

If the customer hasn't owned a Merc or BMW or other luxury brands they very could cross shop - another scenario where they would is where they have been hit with very high repair or maintenance costs.
I'll grant you that if a luxury car owner leases or only keeps a car for a couple/three years then it's unlikely they would consider the Genesis brand.
Cross shop a Lexus with Genesis - I'd ALWAYS put my money on the Lexus - I noticed a Lexus on the lot - wonder if it was a trade from another dealer or bought at auction and is mainly used to compare when customers come in.

who cares about the building a total waste of money. just build a basic warehouse service center and charging stations. lower the price of the cars. mercedes and such cars see people coming who do not know the value of money. they claim top quality. but they are cheaply built with a lot of maintenance costs. look at toyota or honda that is the proper way to build a car. mercedes and such 100k cars should be bullet proof for 20 years but they are terribly built.they make more money on the service center than selling the car.
