Time to go to these dealers and do what they did to us, the consumers, during the pandemic. They wanted an extra $10-$30K over the sticker price, then, now we want a $10-$30K off the sticker price to even consider these vehicles.
The title of the video is about cars that dealers can’t sell. If the dealer overcharges and refuses to lower the price, then they can’t sell. The title seems pretty accurate to me.😊
@@GDTRFBWith all due respect can you point me in the right direction? I’m in Northern New Jersey and I Can’t get a decent deal on a Dodge Hellcat . I’d like a brand new one to keep in my little collection…. But the prices are very high. Thank you in advance. They are claiming “ No one has anymore “ But I see New models pop up left and right.
You might see new Chargers and Challengers but not Hellcats. Joe Biden has put a steep gas guzzler charge on new cars that don’t average at least 24.5 mpg so Mopar is making very few of them. The dealers who get one want a fortune for it.
Prices are too high for all vehicles now. Last vehicle I bought was all most $30,000 in 2016, can't afford another now, in retirement. I remember when my dad bought his first Chevrolet Pickup in 1941, cost $730. No extras, basic vehicle. I remember him making side boards for it so he could haul a few sheep. How do I know, I have his tax returns.
Last I car I could afford was a 2004 camry. Bought used and paid cash. Has 130,000 miles. I baby it cuz it the last car I will be able to buy. A $20,000 car is not even a consideration.
Chrysler intentionally stockpiled the 300, Charger and Challenger to tide them over until the new model's production is ramped up. They blew it with the Hornet though, it's way too expensive for what you get especially given their reputation.
😮Thank you -- Yes, that's a critical point about the challenger and charger -- as their positions on this list are totally misleading! I hope everyone gets that it was INTENTIONAL, as the dealers LOVE having those cars in their showrooms 😂 And, yes... hornet is a real wipeout.
I can afford a new truck and a new car, but I drive a beautiful 04 Excursion and a fantastic 05 Lexus LS430. I've always bought beautiful low mileage high end cars and trucks after they've depreciated. Left my money in investments to make more money.
An 04' Excursion eh? You need Doc Brown's 'Mr. Fusion' to make that thing run with any kind of efficiency. The upside however... any Yaris, Prius, Civic or Corolla that slows you down in traffic... you can just swat off the road :)
Yea, let others buy the high priced vehicles and watch them depreciate to hades...why should a smart person pay through the nose for any vehicle just because the dealers are super greedy?
They’re just too damn big . No bed just a SUV with a tiny bed .Automotive manufacturers have lost their minds . People want a 6 foot bed and standard transmission in a pickup truck.
Simple solution- Find yourself a good USED RAM. They're all over the place, at about half the price of a new one. This need to buy NEW is ridiculous and short-sighted.
There is no "you" to say anything. This is a.i generated content. The sentence structure and effed up words give it away. RUclips is going to start to suck.
I am not a young person. But I was always told in my youth, if you have to borrow money to buy a vehicle, you cant afford it. I save up, buy a good used vehicle that is cheap to insure and maintain with low mileage. I am not trying to impress anyone with how much debt I carry.
Jaguar just announced they are dropping their entire product line, stopped production and will focused only on +$100k vehicles so good luck with your stock Jag dealers.

The reason vehicles like the RAMS and other domestic products are that the manufacturers have decided to mostly build their top models to maximize their profits which are very expensive and most people cannot afford. Hence inventories are high. Jeep has done the same with their Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee models.

Once in a while I would get a higher mileage rental, but most of the time it was in a foreign country. Out of all the rentals over the years, the only brand I had to have replaced was Chrysler/dodge. And my rentals included Mitsubishi, Isuzu, citron, Renault, and even a Lada.
The problem with Dodge, Ram, Chrysler and yes even Jeep, is Stellantis itself. The huge price increases have been put in place to fund their BEV program (which itself is destined for failure). I have a 2020 Ram 2500 Limited MegaCab with the 6.4 Hemi V8, 4.10 rear end, air suspension and lots of other goodies. I use it to tow a 30' 9000 pound travel trailer, which it does very well. The sticker was about 77k in 2020. The same vehicle would now be over 100k. That is an unsupportable/unjustifiable cost increase. Stellantis has NOT invested back in Chrysler or much in Dodge. Ram has had a small amount of investment, and even Jeep has not been shown much love by Stellantis. It is obvious that they don't understand the American market. There is a reason Fiat does not sell well here. And that Hornet, well the sales numbers speak loud and clear. Dodge painted itself into a corner by going all in on the "Brotherhood of Muscle" campaign. And muscle was not the problem. It was moving out of anything other than muscle that was the problem. Giving up the brand equity with the Dodge Grand Caravan nameplate was pure stupidity. There should have been a lower cost version of the Pacifica that was a Dodge. Car companies need to be run by engineers that are first and foremost car guys. And quality should always be of higher importance over short term profit. Cheap plastics don't really save much money, but the damage they do to brand reputation is immense!
I'm trying to figure out why you spent 77K for a RAM 2500 to pull a 9K travel trailer. A RAM 1500 would have pulled that 9K trailer just fine, and you could have saved yourself a LOT of money.
@@TheProfessorOfLife For a number of reasons. First, I wanted the MegaCab. Second, I wanted gas engine. The 6.4 BGE Hemi V8 fit the bill as it has power and durability for towing. My travel trailer is a 2020 Airstream International 30RB. We often have company on our camping trips. The limited MegaCab is a very comfortable cabin and back seat for that. Lastly, I prefer to not tow near or at limit as that is higher wear and tear on the truck. My 2500 is rated to tow just north of 16k and has a much higher payload than a 1500. The tongue weight of the Airstream is about 900 pounds. Then add 4 passengers, a full tank of gas and a full truck bed, and I would have been over the payload of the 1500. Also, I did not say I payed 77k. That was the sticker price.
Car companies used to be run by car guys. Now they are run by international bean counters. And nothing can take the fun out of something quicker than a bean counter.
When a car manufacturer makes JUNK and sells them for over $50,000, you get hundreds of unsold vehicles! Notice that you DON'T see a Toyota, Honda, Hyundai/Kia, or Subaru on this list???
Hyundai/kia is junk… they have always had MAJOR quality and safety recalls. You would never put koreans in the same league as the japanese. In Asia, NO ONE but koreans themselves would buy korean cars, but EVERYONE is fine with honda and toyota. In terms of quality, only an ignorant outsider would ever put the koreans in the same league as toyota… Most Americans who owned korean cars had nothing but bad experiences with them. PS now they are charging their EV customers 50K to replace a battery - look it up, it is all over the news.
Yep. Only one Ford, and no Chevrolet vehicles of any kind. Only two of the least impressive EVs, on the list proves that EVs can't be selling that poorly. On the other hand, all those big gas guzzling Dodges say that fuel economy is important these days.
My sister worked as a Subaru dealership and said those cars had so many problems with engines and transmissions and other issues they are complete junk.
As soon as Stellantis took over FCA the first order of business was to shut down Dodges SRT division. They made it clear they have no love for American muscle car drivers. Why they keep shoving EV’s down peoples throats when they are not practical, expensive and just don’t go far. Discontinuing the Charger and Challenger was a huge mistake.
A charger that can drain it's tank in 7 minutes is not efficient nor practical and way overpriced. Fast in a straight line shitty to drive in rain or snow.
Probably the Wack Alfa ! I heard their smallest SUV the Tonale doesn't even drive like an Alfa ! The good Alfa is Stelvio... The Hornet is apparently the Dodge or Stellantis version of the Tonale...
A great Female reviewer said the Alfa Tonale was a piece of Junk ! I think it's the girl who uses a plastic finger to examine the underside of cars to see if they are using cheap components... She is better than 99 percent of the Male reviewers... Maybe 100 percent ! Most of the car reviewers out there suck ! Including Doug Demuro and even Matt Watson... I'm sick of Matt Watson... All he talks about is the Sat-Nav... Bastard never even mentions the stereo ! Does he even listen to music ? Savage Geese and Moto Man are 2 of the best guys... I honestly didn't know the Dodge Hornet existed until I saw one parked the other day. It's a great looking vehicle, so I looked up the price. Holy Cow! They are in the $50k's! This would be a great vehicle in the high $20k's low $30k's, I thought. Who would buy this with all the competition in that high price range? Obviously, not many people. 😂
As expensive as the vehicles are, insurance has to keep up with the replacement cost if you wreck it, plus the insurance companies make big profits for themselves
5/27/24...ALSO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE FOR EV... THEY CATCH ON FIRE 🔥 SITTING THERE. THEY CATCH ON FIRE 🔥 DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THEY CATCH ON FIRE 🔥 + BURN DOWN YOUR HOME OR CONDO OR PARKING LOT.... PLUS DON'T RUN IF TOO HOT OR TOO COLD..... PLUS MOST INS CO JUST "WRITE THEM OFF" AFTER ANY CRASH....

Well one problem with the Dodge Challenger, Charger anf 300 is that they have not had major redesign in over 10 years. People tend to forget about that fact. People like new updated designs especially in muscle cars. However Fiat - Stellantis was too cheap to redesign this car. This is the same with the Camaro. Its had the same basic design since 2009. You can not tell me that if GM gave the Camaro a completely different maybe more retro design people would not buy it.
Everyone has one, often in the shop. Then they charge for all kinds of parts replacement to no avail. My daughter's BMW had a vacuum leak, affecting multiple systems. We repaired with a new oil cap, $20.
What killed the Challenger and Charger was the idiots buying them a street racing, speeding and just being a$$#oles. I had 4 Challenger’s and I wanted no part of that community.
And over time, ALL batteries degrade. What's the cost of replacing? It doesn't matter - there is not GOOD recycling options. "3% recycled" - WHAT?!! Landfills will be like groundwater poisoning centers. What about Charge Time as the REAL measurement? Not range - but how many hours do I recharge? "Check into motels overnight and come back. Hope no one messes with your recharging cars."
Hey. Maybe I can shed some light on the reason why these heavy duty trucks aren’t selling. I’m a truck driver. And truck loads are down bad. We aren’t making any money. Insurance is too high. Gas is too high. And loads are cheap. Almost $1.50 per mile. I wouldn’t get into this market because dispatchers are being cheap. And these dealer markups aren’t making any sense. Plus they are trying to sell you old tech in new trucks. It makes no sense.
Corolla is still unaffordable for many Americans based on housing, food, Healthcare costs, etc. 24000+ dollars is still expensive for folks making an average household income.
Toyota is making so much money. Hope these other guys take notice… I find it hilarious how many Toyotas are on the road at the moment. Never will spend another cent at GM, Chrysler, or Ford ever again though
A lot of would-be EV buyers want a smaller car and, with the Chevy Bolt gone, can't get one. Bestselling EV from a legacy automaker, sold to a waiting list right up until they closed the order books, and GM discontinues it to rush into the $50,000 midsize crossover and $70,000 "lifestyle" pickup segments everyone else did - never mind the demand, think of the margin!
About 10-15 years ago when many Baby Boomers were in their 60s, recently retired and with money to spend on one more nostalgic "summer of 69" blow out, the original and reincarnated muscle cars evoking their youth became very popular. Now many Baby Boomers are in their 70s or later and owning an overpriced muscle car is simply no longer practical. Also with the economy soft and inflation eating into their pensions, such expensive follies are also not making sense anymore.
You talk about the spike in gas prices and show a pump with a $4 price. Here in Calif its almost $6 a gallon again. I put in 10.5 gallons yesterday and it ran me $61. FJB.
Back in 2005 I used to sell new Toyota Lexas in Los Angeles. We had access to over 60 banks in house. We could finance almost anybody. The name of the game was, “how much car payment can you afford per month?”. At that time we were selling 1,000+ cars per month. We had 100+ salespeople working on site 😳. New cars were Floor Planned by the factory for 90 days, meaning after 90 days if the car didn’t sell, the dealer paid daily interest to factory. Which made the dealer very aggressive in selling the vehicle. Today, the dealers are delusional thinking their outrageous markups will continue, as shown by this video’s info with 50,000+ new Dodge vehicles sitting unsold for months on their lots. I think we hit the consumer breaking point with $1,000+ a month car payments 😳 Repo deals on the way👌
Stellantis has lost their mind dropping the challenger?????? Americans don't want EV's and the ones that do, but Teslas......not a Johnny come lately who's range is far inferior?
I have a Dodge Hornet. What a mistake. It's has a ton of electrical issues that took 74 days at the dealer and 6 updates to fix. It is fun to drive, though.
The Big Three are losing their pants the dealer lots are full of cars meanwhile they're saying the sales are up! The markup is so high they're still making money but there's no big sales. Boycott them all
During hurricane Ian I woke up to water pouring into my house. I looked out side to the site of my Dodge Journey setting in water over it's wheels. I was able to get the door open and the water was up to the top of the seats. In desperation I tried to start it and to my shock it turned right over and started. I managed to drive the 7 miles to get out of the flood waters, without the slightest hiccup, other than whatever it was that I hit in the flood water blowing out my right front tire. Dried it out and haven't had the slightest problem with it. So I'll give it 10*********. Did I mention it can also pass just about everything on the road?
The only Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Chrysler 300s that people are buying are *used-fresh off the auction block* where banks sell them after repossessions. *Only police departments in the US and Canada* have been single handedly keeping Stellantis afloat *by buying fleet vehicles for their cruisers* the past few years. Before that it was *Ford Crown Victoria* and Chevy Impala/Caprice/Taurus. 60% of Dodge Chargers were bought by police, 15% by regular public and 15% by dumb criminals/suspects in literally every other crime. The last 10% are still on dealer lots waiting to be sold. 😂
But yeah, I agree with a lot of the comments here. The mark up on some of these vehicles doesn't even make sense in this hyper inflated economy. Work trucks payments cost more ($100,000+/- a few) then some rent and mortgages. Not to mention the full coverage insurance required on top of your new car payment. Better be living out of it if you're in the lower middle class. It's insane.
We just bought a 2022 RAM 3500 6.7 Cummins. The engine is NOT noisy at all! I love the sound of a diesel engine. You can't hear it from inside the luxurious cabin. Sadness. 😅 And the reason for the 6-speed versus the 10-speed is that with a max of 1,075 lb-ft of torque and a very flat torque curve, 6 speeds is MORE THAN PLENTY!
I had NO issues with my previously owned 03, 04 RAM's with Cummins. I only sold these 8' bed models to drive a smaller truck. Cummins motor in RAM's is the ONLY medium duty motor in passenger pickups. Chevy dura ok too but I would not drive a ford if you gave me one, I would sell it. Found On Road Dead
Same here in the U.K. New E.Vs are bought by companies to offset corporation tax. Private buyers only accounts for about 15% of purchases. When these company cars are three years old the companies offload them to second hand market. Big big problem here as they take on average 9months for dealers to sell. That being the case, many dealers will not buy used EVs to sell on, plus EV insurance is about twice that for an ICE version of the same cars. The market here is full of used EVs that very few people want. Prices amount to about 80% less than the retail price after about two years.
The MAIN reason the Ram trucks are not selling is they are OVERPRICED. I went into a dealer and was blown away by the pricing, I'm amazed they sell anything.
Lots already do. Mine is a 2016 Nisan Leaf and still gets about 160 km, which is more than enough for me most of the time. Most newer EVs get a lot more range, and the new, cheaper, batteries coming will give even better range, possibly with less weight too. The improvements to EVs since mine was new are staggering.
@@jimthain8777 Only reason range might be extended is due to larger batteries. We are pretty much at the limit of battery tech, and it's not likely someone will invent some amazing Star Trek tech soon. 160 km, (depending on the weather) is probably fine if you don't drive far or often. I've always thought most EVs are fine if have solar panels at home and very routine lifestyle, or a second ICE car. Otherwise the advantages aren't there without infrastructure to support them.
says someone who obviously doesn't own one. I own a Tesla. Road trips, the only time I cannot charge at home, are simple. Tell the car where you want to go and it plans the most efficient way to get there. It actually is as simple as that. On my road trips the car was ready to go usually before we could finish bathroom breaks. People ask me all the time, "how long does it take to fill up" to which I answer, "I never fill up, that would be dumb". EVs charge faster the lower the battery's state of charge. Tesla's nav plans trips to keep the battery low. Range anxiety is something ICE car drivers imagined. To be fair other EVs other than Tesla have more issues but will have improved experience as Tesla continues to open it's super charger network to other brands.
@@gbinman I’m actually for EV’s and those who can live with one based on their driving needs. For me, when they can acheive a longer range it will make EV’s more desirable for me. I think the technology will come fairly soon, but until then, I’m not ready for one.
Driving needs is a key factor. Except in the most expensive EVs there aren't likely to be much above 300. Not many people drive that far in one sitting.
No mention that the Dodge Charger ,challenger and 300 was over produced to span a possible long strike. And Stillantis jacked up the prices as did the dealers. Not to men interest rates
Find the Ram 2500 hard to believe. I was shopping for one and the dealers within a 200 mile radius from me had little or no 2500s or 3500s. 1500s yes. Plenty. Ended up driving over 4 hours to get one.
I can put $1,000 a month into my truck I purchased in 2008 and come out way ahead. My truck is still like new. I can afford to keep it that way. Forget ever buying new again.
I don't get why Challengers are sitting on lots because Stellantis wants to shift to EVs. MrPittman's comments makes more sense that dealers are marking them up. Some dealers were getting in trouble for doing this during the shortage because (I assume) it reduced the number of cars sold, but maybe Dodge doesn't care about this anymore. A lesser factor may be people don't want these if they be having a higher chance of getting stolen and carjacked.
@@fawnlliebowitz1772 you’re an idiot if you pay that for a truck unless you need it for work or business. I used to love trucks but they can shove them up their arse before id pay that. My little Mazda does just fine.
I remember when the auto makers would offer a no-frills version of their cars, little to no options. I wonder why no manufacturer at least gives it a try, I think a cost cutting version of a pickup or SUV would be popular to a segment of the buying public. But keep the A/C, it’s getting warmer!
Stellantis biggest issue is that they’re making cars that no one wants and getting rid of the ones they do. Chrysler needs to pull out of stellantis merger and get rid of poor quality brought by fiat and bring back hits like the aspen, keep the 300 and redesign it as well as a coupe version and introduce a entry level model. Dodge is a sport brand but did really well when it was a volume brand. In the 2000’s you had caravan grand caravan, journey, Durango, charger, challenger, avenger, dart, magnum, stratus, intrepid. 2000-2011 for most models listed. SRT should be an option on all models.

As a former car-guy, I believe your observations are Spot-On! I'm glad I got out of the business when I did.

Dried it out and haven't had the slightest problem with it.
So I'll give it 10*********. Did I mention it can also pass just about everything on the road?
Awesome job !
I've had 3 Dodge's in my lifetime and with our 2010 jeep wrangler we would never buy another dodge product just two many issues...
Ayyy cool to see this one! Love the content!
So did it cost $10,000 per foot pound of torque.
@@Mike-xi4zt We paid about $60 per ft-lb of torque. 😉
@@therealgaragegirls 😂😂 I cannot afford the price on these new trucks
I had NO issues with my previously owned 03, 04 RAM's with Cummins. I only sold these 8' bed models to drive a smaller truck. Cummins motor in RAM's is the ONLY medium duty motor in passenger pickups. Chevy dura ok too but I would not drive a ford if you gave me one, I would sell it. Found On Road Dead
@@kenny6055 I owned an F150 when we lived in Utah. Transmission went kaput after just 5,000 miles of ownership. Ugh.
How can dealers mark up MSRP??? I don't understand this.
The MAIN reason the Ram trucks are not selling is they are OVERPRICED. I went into a dealer and was blown away by the pricing, I'm amazed
they sell anything.
It sounds like Dodge is going to go the way of the Dinosaurs !!!!!!!!!!!
Well at least join DeSoto and Plymouth.
The hornet stung them
Ford Mach E's sitting on the lot are incredibly overpriced.
And they're ugly! 😝
And they're ugly, to boot! 😝
Yes they are. I priced one with a $10,000 discount and it is still over $50,000. And they are one of the better EVs on the market.
because we're eating cereal for dinner because of this economy.
maybe everybody can't have everything everyone wants. lotz of delusion out there
This was a really good segment. Well put together! Hats off to CBS Sacramento
Electric cars need to break at least 300 miles per charge, even more.
They're all over priced .😢 nobody
Will buy them.
Good thing I bought my Chevy Silverado for slightly less then 40k paid off in cash 😎
The working people can't afford these outrageous priced vehicles! Or food. Utilities, rent, clothing,...
It seem like everybody and their moma want a charger and challenger!! One problem.. TO DAM HIGH!!!! 😢😢😢
Got my 22 Challenger and never letting go of it
Find the Ram 2500 hard to believe.
Well, let’s just face it, Dodge Chrysler is going in the crapper.
Wow... Stellantis did not read the market. That is far to many cars sitting on their dealer lots. Time for rebates.
50-70k for a truck? lmao
You obviously won't ever get a new truck or you can't afford it. It's what they go for now, like it or lump it.
So I’ll lump it.
@@fawnlliebowitz1772 you’re an idiot if you pay that for a truck unless you need it for work or business. I used to love trucks but they can shove them up their arse before id pay that. My little Mazda does just fine.
@@jhask64So be it, I'll continue to buy 3 or 4 year old trucks.
Test drove a few last month just to see what you get for that price. Junk for 50k+. I'll stick with old school reliability.
I remember when the auto makers would offer a no-frills version of their cars, little to no options. I wonder why no manufacturer at least gives it a try, I think a cost cutting version of a pickup or SUV would be popular to a segment of the buying public. But keep the A/C, it’s getting warmer!
Can we please quit calling the crossover station wagons "SUV"s.
@@Hannibalmiles8494 They aren't SUV's either...

I really like my ionic Hyundai hybrid.
The ionic is a great hybrid. Underrated.
What a totally different galaxy❤
Thank you Brandon. We can't afford to purchase any vehicle when we can't afford food, electricity, gas for our cars and gas to heat our homes.
Republicans are in charge of Congress
Lol, Stellantis RIP.
Their plans toward EV are not going to help.
We can only hope!!
@@1wheeldrive751 In the US, Srellantis will only sell a few compliance EVs. That is a good thing because their duel use platforms will result in bad EVs and bad ICE.
Prices for used vehicles are ridiculous!! My 2014 Escape cost me $6,000 in 2020! It now costs more! Now we wanted 4 more years for this 'gold' SUV; well, we have barely put 7,500 km on it in those years & yes, we want more! It has almost 240,000 km; bht, recently after a ten week holiday, it started like a charm! The ride is comfortable, it's OK on gas ( hard to tell on such short runs) & we change the oil 2x a year! I just wish it was bigger to carry all our camping gear! If used car prices came down, I'd look at an Edge or Explorer, but???
getting the hell out of Dodge
Everybody wants the trucks. 80-110k , nah bruh. Nah
I have a Chevrolet Silverado completely paid off and it was slightly less than 40k 🤘🏻
