Toyota might be the most reliable vehicle brand, no argue on that. The problem that I have with Toyota is the arrogance of their cars dealers. They wait for you to come in thinking that you are buying a vehicle brand that exceeds all buyers expectations and lay back asking for ridiculous market up prices. Also for their latest models their car seats comfort is not good. There are other brands that are also reliable and you might be able to go to the dealer and get a fair deal. I recently bought a 2024 Camry but went with the XSE V6. I don't put a ton of miles on my cars so while fuel economy was a consideration but performance and mechanical simplicity / reliability were higher on my wish list. The Camry Hybrid also uses a CVT transmission which I would rather avoid. I did test drive a 2024 Mazda 3 hatchback with the manual transmission. I liked it, but I am 6 foot 4 and being a larger car the Camry was more comfortable for me. The same goes for the 2024 Honda Civic. I drove a hatchback with the turbo and a manual transmission. It would have been kind of tight for me but okay if the seats weren't so aggressively bolstered. I didn't want anything to do with Kia, Hyundai, or Chrysler and the Accord now only comes with a 4-cylinder so at the end of the day the Camry was the only sedan that checked all of my boxes. I have never owned or even driven a car that can do 0-60 in under 9 seconds so the 300 horsepower in the Camry was kind of a bucket list thing even though I don't drive fast or aggressively.

My father in law has been leasing Outbacks for over a decade. He swore by them and their safety. My wife was even thinking about trying to buy it once his lease was up since he cares for it with loving OCD. Then he found out the Air Bags were faulty and could have gone off accidentally while just driving. Now my wife will never buy a Subaru because of course it’s so expensive to remove and reinstall airbags that I believe it’s easier to total it out. Her dad didn’t get the option to have buy it because of this huge failure. It didn’t stop her father from replacing it with a different Subaru though

New Outback owner here. Buyers should be aware that Subaru has stopped using dual pane glass in their side windows. At 70mph the road noise is annoying. To drown it out you have to really crank the stereo up. Also The RAB is to sensitive. Backing out of my drive I got a face plant into my steering wheel as the RAB detected the end of the driveway and slammed on the breaks. It’s now disabled. Similar issue with front detection. I was traveling 60mph down a four lane highway when a car crossed in front of me with plenty of time to get across. My Outback slammed on the breaks. It was a dam good thing nobody was following me. The delayed response time with the center touch display is very annoying. This car has gotta go.
