    Great comparison!
CC wins for power and mpg
Crosstrek wins in handling and ride quality.
Once Subaru uses Toyota hybrid technology, it will be nearly perfect!

      We are in Canada here,..
      💏 💏
Pricing and Type of Trim/ Engine/ Drive Train; and Clearance 9.3 Inch of Subaru CrossTrek Wilderness Trim would be the best Option. (There were two Cases of Ioniq 5 because of Low Clearance, the Battery damaged that the Ioniq 5 were written off). When we use Parameters: Crossover and/or SUV/HR-V!!!
I just watched the Channel Driving Sport TV = when/where he compared and Test-Drive the CrossTrek Wilderness which was 36k USD$ vs RAV4 TRD-Offroad = when he tested the Subaru first then the next time; he brought the RAV4 -- 42k USD$ ran over the Tracks that he drove with Subaru CT; both are 2.5l Engine; one has about 1 inch Clearance higher Subaru CT. And the RAV4 failed badly.
In term of Longevity ─ we are now at 2024-2025 All Cars/SUV Made by Toyoda and or Subaru should last easily 2 decades which would be 2044-2045 = at that point in the Future, all Vehicles should be either Hydrogen Fuel and/or Electric Motors... (Especially in Alberta, they wanted to go with Hydrogen Powers ...)
Supply and Demand would make Gasolines at the ⛽ ⛽ and/or Crude Oils under 50 USD$ a Barrel. In Canada since I came here 1980; we was never worry about how much would it cost ─ Gasolines Prices ─to drive a Car or a Truck; since Pandemics, all we have heard about Mileage and mpg!! Those Contractors, Plumbers, Electricians they don't care how much it would cost them to fill the Tank; because they will charge us ─ when it comes to repairing out Plumbing and/or Electrical Works at our Residents.
A Car is a Car, should be built to last at least to the Expectation that the Buyers have spent the Money$ for. We/I own all Subaru Legacy, Toyoda Camry and Honda Accord 1991-1993; and they all have been good but the Subaru Legacy stood out ─ easy to change Engine Oil, without Lifting the Car Up ─ the most safety Features, I have seen owners died of going underneath the Car to have changed Oil. And a Car should be replaced when it reaches 15-17 years and should not be more than 200,000 km; we should not be relying on Driving a Car ─ like most Japanese are.
      Regards,
(My Subaru Legacy Model L 1992 stolen last year, otherwise, the Engine and Trans would be fine (automatic); And our Estates Car GM Chevrolet Cavalier 2003; until now cost me nothing but a Signal Switch; changed it myself and Tires/ Battery once in 2013; a new Muffler and now the Car is so smooth and Quiet like a 5-year Old Vehicle.)
      Cheers,

@@AutomotivePress That depends though. The trademark of Subaru is the symmetrical full time AWD and the boxer engine which gives a lower center of gravity. Will they be able to carry that over to a hybrid? Personally, I like the hybrid concept, but as I dont drive much anymore, mileage is not a big consideration to me. I would like a Subaru hybrid for the additional low end power.

I've test driven the Honda HRV, Corolla Cross gas powered, and the Crosstrek Sport & Wilderness. It took me a weekend and several days to decide. I am very happy with my decision, I chose the Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness. I know it's a little overkill for what I need it for, however, it's good to have the options, if I need the car to do some light off roading. For now, it is my Costco car. It has the Harmon Kardon sound system, and a very nice moon roof, since I am gave up my Miata RF. I still need that sun & wind to hit my face. The cargo capacity is just right, and my folding bike fits well in the back. And yes, the Crosstrek has a lot of umph underneath the hood, when I needed to pass someone.

David, When I look at your knees rubbing against the back of the driver seat 7:47 and consider EVERY major competitor to the Corolla Cross offers more rear seat legroom, I have to ask why Toyota used the Corolla hatch's short wheelbase as the template for the Corolla Cross? Finally there is a compact TNGA vehicle that offers ample headroom and they forget to leave a place for rear passengers to put their legs.🤨 It goes without saying that child seat options will be severely restricted in the Cross.

I just purchased a Crosstrek Sport over a Corolla Cross Hybrid because the hybrid would save me $400/yr for fuel costs, but the out the door price for the Corolla Cross Hybrid was $6,000 more than the Crosstrek: 6,000/400 equals 15, which means it would take roughly 15 years for Corolla Cross Hybrid to become more economical than the Crosstrek.
If my reasoning is faulty, please let me know. The one thing I didn't include is Toyota's two years worth of free routine maintenance, which will likely modestly reduce the number of years.

It depends on what your needs are. I'm in N.E. Ohio and we get a LOT of lake effect snow. My previous car, which I owned for 13 yrs, was a Subaru Outback. I remember the first time I drove that car in a snowstorm with 6 inches on an unplowed street. I came upon a 4-way intersection and had to stop at the red light. Many cars were on the road (rush hour), and were waiting for the light to change. I was the first car at the light in my lane. When the light changed, I just drove off as if I was on a dry road. The other cars that had been sitting next to me at the light -- and the cars facing me on the other side of the light -- they were spinning their wheels and fishtailing. They were struggling in that snow to get some traction and get moving. It was wild to see. ... and there I was driving, as if it was a snow-free day. I burst out laughing in Pure Joy because it was my first time experiencing how a Subaru drives in the snow. It was crazy good.
I'm currently driving a Honda Accord because I got a really good deal from a family member. It's a decent car, but I miss my Subaru. Next year, I plan to be driving a Crosstrek (w/the 2.5L engine). I recently took one for a test drive (to verify it's the model that I want). The ride and handling felt like my old Outback, just in a smaller version. I tell you, ... I sat behind the wheel of that Crosstrek and felt like I was "home."

Depends on what you want the car for. If you want the best AWD system for slippery conditions or mild off roading, its Crosstrek all the way. If you just want a convenient, reliable hauler for everyday use in mild climates, the CC hybrid is a good choice. Both the Crosstrek with the 2.5L and the CC Hybrid have become somewhat pricy. Personally, I am probably in the minority, but I like the styling of the Crosstrek, while I think the CC is butt ugly, especially the grille, which looks like a fish out of water gasping for air.

@@whatwhome6914 if you don’t drive much then then MPG and reliability don’t mean as much. Buy what you want and don’t worry about it because they are both solid cars that should last a very long time. Keep in mind the Subaru has a distinctly different boxer engine that may not be familiar to your local mechanic when it comes time for basic maintenance and repairs vs a Toyota that is about as standard as it gets in terms of general maintenance. Subaru is great if you need that full time all wheel drive because you live in an area with snow, ice, mud, dirt roads, mountains or poor road conditions on a frequent basis. I still remember when I had a Subaru Baja and came up to a steep road after an ice storm and there was several cars and a tow truck stuck on the road. Takes away the four wheel drive advantage of the Subaru. Gives the Toyota great fuel economy with the same power as the Subaru 2.5 lt. engine and four wheel drive. Keeping car over ten years, Corolla-cross would be my first choice. Nobody talks also about Subaru Crosstrek maintenance and insurance fees, which I believe they are lots more expensive than Toyota.

I got my head gaskets replaced 6 years ago for $2700, Subaru wants to change them again for $4800 and along with other services this maintenance would’ve cost $8k… said nope and took it to a different place and they’re wanting $2200 and I don’t even have to change my head gaskets again

The capability factor of the Crosstrek is what keeps me wanting it but damn.. idk if I want to go subaru again, you want a car that services you, not a car that you have to service

Wouldn’t consider either one since the both have CVT’s.

If subaru have hybrid version from toyota, I will buy it right away.
for steering numb, I try to drive one and they hold the road quite well. even passing a pot hole and the steering/car not even deviate much. try on bad road and you like the numb feeling.
if you ever go to Quebec, you never ever want the steering feel because you nearly feel the pot hole and turkey hole every seconde. If you drive for leisure, yes. but for city commute after 8 hours work I never want to feel the imperfection road.

    Mazda cx30 !
2.5 liter naturally aspirated , 6 speed automatic transmission, very good fuel economy (29mpg combined), regular fuel, ultra premium interior even on the base model and Mazda reliability is right up there with Toyota. Its ride is more sporty and a bit taut giving more feedback from the road. Subaru on the other hand , is not listed on JD Powers reliability roll .

Crosstrek has steerable headlights, superior awd, higher ground clearance and most importantly is many 1000’s less.
The Subaru is also actually *deliverable* in Canada. Ask your Toyota dealer how long a Corolla Cross hybrid will take to get delivered. In Ontario they’re not even taking orders anymore.
My 2024 Crosstrek can actually be delivered in 2024. And so, it’s Subaru for me.

i have a CC with 2.0 gas engine non hybrid. I use extreme driving style (hyper milling and cruise around 80 km/h) to extract the best mileage. So far my best try was 4.167L/100km, with is about 56 MPG. My overall MPG after 8000km of driving is 46.94.( 5.0L/100km) So the M20A FKS coupled with CVT is extremely efficient.

So, the paint thickness on the Crosstrek is better, the leg room, the interior quality and the AWD is second to none. Still they are both about the same? In my very own opinion, no doubt the Corolla is a great, great vehicle but, the Crosstrek is much better.

5:48 Why didn't you use a gas Toyota Corolla cross , you knew that the Toyota was going to be much quieter than the Subaru. That's not even a fair test the Toyota is a hybrid which is more quit that a gas car.
