I've been looking to buy a used suv in California and find it crazy that people are asking over 10k for an suv that is 20 yrs+ old with mileage on average around 200k +! 😵💫
Went to a mazda dealer looking for a cx90 premium plus model going for $52k. I go in and ask what the best deal i can get on a cx90? Guy comes back with msrp + an additional of $10k of different options and warranties. Then i say that im looking so save 2-3 grand off of msrp, they say they cant go below msrp, then i tell them i have another dealer offering me $47500 , and then they try to make the same deal while being very pushy. Just declined the whole thing and walked out.
I bought the premium plus for 60k. Great car. I bought it bec I can afford it. But for the average person, it’s ridiculous the prices of these cars. Most ppl will buy it when they are up fin the used market
Just got my step daughter a CX-30 Carbon for a little over $3000 off msrp, no markups/add on's and 2.9% financing. They seemed very desperate. Another Mazda offered $3500 off but without Mazda financing. I did all negotiations over the phone.

You actually believe this list? There’s no way BMW isn’t selling more cars than Audi. Like seriously. No one is buying the A8 or A6 but they somehow didn’t make this list.
My previous 2 vehicles were a BMW M5 and Audi SQ5. I told myself that I would never buy an expensive car again, especially with today’s insurance rates! This weekend I bought a 2025 Kia K5 for about $30,000. So far I’m happy with it.
@@lindap.p.1337 the kia is still probably cheaper for OP than the expensive bmw and audis, especially when the kia is 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of those "luxury" vehicles. he would only need to drive it 50k miles to break even.
A lot of bmws on this list. I think this new weird styling combined with pricing is just killing their brand. Might be time to reevaluate your choices BMW. The people are spending their money elsewhere.
I remember when a fun to drive BMW 1600 was $2500 in 1967. No silly tech, simple, reliable, easy to maintain. Is there a car mfr that will sell simple, fun, and basic?
As a Mercedes E-class owner I didn't look at BMW not because of SUVs but because BMW now nickle and dimes you for every option. They even want to charge a subscription fee to use the heated seats. Mercedes just gives me trim levels, I buy it own it and move on. I don't want an SUV, that's why I bought a sedan. I'm not trying to drive a minivan, I still want something fun.
Based on your videos, I assume you live in the US. BMW never trialed the heated seat subscription in the US. And for the countries they did trial it out in, it was short lived and stopped well over a year ago.
For $33,500, I got a Honda Civic Hybrid. For some reason, they're real hard to find, being all already sold before they even get to the dealer lots. 50 MPG, good power and excellent driving dynamics and excellent reliability. There's a contrast for you.
I am laguhing my head off, as here in HUNGARY all Honda sells are hybrids and electrics. The last year they sold a gasoline engined new Honda was in 2020 o2 2021.
When u were younger naive self bmw and benz used to stand out looks feels inoovative. Now older and wiser need car with less parts, less or no issue and simpler things in life. Now I know better they suck and suck your wallets dry!!! Stay away from them.
It’s simple economics. During, and after the pandemic, supply chain, and chip shortages caused supply to go way down. Manufactures, and dealers raised their prices astronomically, then when inventory caught up, they had already price theirselves out of the market.
I think people are beginning to realize that all the tech innovation is not worth the initial and replacement cost. Take fixing a problem with the Engine Control Module, by the time the tech identifies the problem plus replacing the module the cost is at $3000 to $5000 plus a two week timeline that your vehicle will be in the shop.
Most mainstream brands offer all of the same features as "luxury" cars these days. Less horsepower (who cares). Lower quality interiors but at a FAR lower price.
As a previous buyer of new BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes vehicles I now find them far too expensive to buy. There are plenty of other brands which provide great looking and diving cars at half the price.
The luxuries that used to be only on certain vehicles are now on Toyotas, Hondas, Fords, etc. Why pay $100K for useless luxuries when you can get most of them for $40K on regular vehicles?
Issue with Lexi’s, Toyota, the quality the past few years has slipped and they’re using more Toyota parts in these Lexus that they’re basically a rebadged Toyota. Sheet metal is very thin, louder road noise, cheaper parts, pre-2015 were the last of the solid, quality built Lexus. Toyotas now like their trash Tacomas and Tundras, so many engine power-train issues
@@michaelcostin2384 I think that ALL of the auto makers are cutting corners as they cut costs on ICE designs because we are in the last days of ICE. They are planning all of their future EV cars and trucks so it doesn't matter to them if they build crap for now. Maximum profits are their goal.
The Alpha Romero is an absolute beautiful car and SUV… My buddy had it and he just kept having problems after problems after problems with it… And he purchased it brand new year and he got rid of it.
It's seems to be they are gonna loose the whole Factory for this Brand... I feel sad somehow...but even in the Europeans Market..rear to see it anyway.....big Failure
Here in my country (Guatemala) , there were a lot of Alfas and FIAT during the 80's and 90's, the dealer was good... but suddenly both Brands became trashy...bad quality , continuos brake downs, spare parts toke a very long time to come from Europe and Brasil. Fiat , that imported 2 versions of their cars: Brasilian and Italian... both a pain in the ass... You still see some Alfas on the street and a FIATS ...but almost nobody buys them. People are bringing FIATs 500 second hand used from the USA and the dealer bearly sales because of the price...anyway they are starting to give problems now.
Exactly. And they’re getting worse. They’ve destroyed the X3’s design which was one of their best sellers in interested to see their 2025 sales figures on that redesigned model.
mercedes benz biggest problem is the fact that they are charging for additional features like heated seats or added RPMs. While thier GLC is their current midsized seller it does have it own issues, but benz has been able to weather such storms without any issues. plus their EVs are some the closest to their estimated ranges compared to other EVs. and in reality, most people buy the brand for the name rather then the car .
They are good cars: comfy AND aerodynamic - thus a decent range (for an EV). Some want to drive daily all through the heartland, maybe EV is not for you. But is you live and drive in say New Jersey, a long distance EV would do the trick fine. Panels on your roof and load at home or at the office, destination charging is the easiest way to go. The EQ-E and EQ-S sedans not big enough on the rear seats? Ok, there are the SUV models as well. Like a Tesla with an ergonomic and super beautiful interior (which Tesla lacks, in total - but they are still good cars, just forgot the interior).
We need Basic cars and trucks with manual roll up windows , No computer screen , and reliable operation at a great low price point . Today is only super computerized , unreliable , expensive , optioned crap that no one wants or can afford
Absolutely. While I do have a new diesel Land Cruiser which is very nice to drive and modern it luckily has all manual controls and not too much silly tech that is not required and luckily things I don't want can be permanently disabled with a push of a button on the steering wheel. Bug I also have a 6 year old BMW very low tech compared to my LC, but it is great fun to drive. And then I have a Jimny, very old school, which I also love to drive around locally. And then there is my 10 year old work truck, super old school, manual transmission and absolutely everything else is manual, even the windows and doors are manual, so to is the 4WD selector lever. But it is fun to drive, super simple and cheap to maintain and virtually indestructible. I think LC has way to much tech and that is quite basic compared to most cars now. They seriously need to go back 10-15 years and do away with all this crappy tech that no one wants or needs.
But unfortunately, if they put out a car like you described, only you and a couple of hundred may buy them. It's all at e Benjamin's and the car companies are all about making a profit ✌️
I'm right there with you, but it can not happen. We voted for politicians who made MPG, emissions, certain safety features amongst other things mandatory Impossible to hit those standards with a carb engine with simple 4 speed transmission I would REALLY like a old school bronco or land cruiser
I bet that you still have a flip phone too. 😂 Things evolve and change. No car manufacture is going to make the car you described because not that many people would want a basic car with no features. You should just stick to buying old used cars and fixing them up and then you can get all of the features that you described.
I recently purchased a 2025 Honda HRV AWD Sport. Seems a bargain at 30K in comparison to all this, with great gas mileage and super reliable Honda. It is loaded with every safety item and just about recent feature possible. I'm very happy and know it will last easy 200+ k miles with minimal problems.
@@Comm0ut buddy, im all saying is rental enterprise, and alike will get them for cheap cheap and rent to people on vacation for hopefully cheap as well.. for consumers! I agree, not a lot of people would buy these for keeps..!
The manufacturers will soon be getting used to the fact that in these days, car owners can talk to each other compare notes on pricing, reliability and dealers' sales behavior. So we should see many models discontinued--and of course, we are. Too many car models are made, and clearly the manufacturers cannot keep up the reliability and cost savings. They are often too complex and require very specialized training for technicians. We need simpler, lighter, more dependable cars, but instead the manufacturers have rushed headlong into EV's and excess complexity. Cheese is moving!
Lithiums can be depleted to zero with no problems. Plus all electrics have a small amount of drain - so 2 years later you just charge the battery to full and drive away. You might have to replace the lead acid battery if it has one though.
@@timpetrWhat the hell has happened to cars these days? Manufacturers have had over a century to get vehicles right. Appreciated EV's are new, but why manufacturers expect punters to pay over-the-odds prices for effectively useless, unreliable vehicles is beyond me
@SuccessShared yup... Free market, don't buy it. Unfortunately, what does the consumer have left? Late model Honda's and Toyotas...😁. Unfortunately, there really aren't many options, for naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder, manual transmissions.... How are you going to transport a family of 5 in a Miata? 😁 Everything is direct injection, turbos, which is great.... But not sure how reliable over the long haul.
@SuccessShared I would be against a electric fur a daily commuter, but at the prices, not many can afford to do that ... The what's the long term reliability.... Batteries are the main detergent. I use cordless tool, often (daily) and I find a good battery starts failing after 2 yrs.... How's the battery do on your phone after 3 yrs? I like the battery swap idea for electric cars..... But that still doesn't solve what to do with the bad older batteries that would be in the system. Rome wasn't built in a day.
I predict with the economy as it is, we may see several car brands disappear. The poor can barely afford a clunker. The middle class isn't much better. The wealth people I know generally buy a 1, or 2 year old vehicle. This all started with going to all electric. We're simply not ready folks. Then the auto manufacturers started pricing themselves out of the market. Dealers have 2 year old new inventory. The 2025 models are coming soon. What will they do?
The US market is no longer can afford these Hi tech geek made from cheap labor country with 3rd world quality standard but still selling at Switzerland living life style while most buyer are making a third world wages
Yeap, most Mercedes-Benz and Audis are built in my country of HUNGRAY. And the government here gave € 300 million in tax breaks to BMW to start up a mega-factory here in the city of Debrecen. But who will be the buyers of those cars? Hungarians are lining up three deep for Japanese and Korean cars here, also some Chinese electric brands are here already.
The 10% of drivers that could buy a 100K+ vehicle (or multiples) are now 5% and all the brands are trying to increase their market share with diverse high end models.
But the US can buy them better than ever before, with the economy booming and wages way up - buying power is top notch - depending on where you live. Florida for instance is highly inflationary with low wage increases, except the Orlando region which is less impacted by major insurance rises. As an American in Europe, we see this effect is amazing - American tourism has for instance 'picked up' the whole Spanish economy. Italy benefits too. Money is flowing .... Of course, it seems that to all this will come an end.
@@nas4apps will you let my employer know that all our wages are supposed "to be up?" I don't think he got the memo. Or my last 5 employers for that matter. Employers are CHEAP in the USA. Last thing I am going to do in this crappy economy is buy a 60K depreciating asset.
Until about 2011, BMWs were the not only the best looking car, they probably had the best performance, quality and reliability. Since BMW and the entire the car industry went global, though, I'd rather buy a street legal golf cart. SERIOUSLY!😁
@LastoftheMohicans116 Dodge/Chrysler cannot survive by selling Chargers and Challengers only. Ram, Jeep and their minivans are the models that keep them afloat.
They sell all those Chargers and Challengers at lower margins. Its their "bargain segment." The issue is I think the car companies didn't get the memo that fewer and fewer people can afford a vehicle over 60K. (much less over 100K) They are all pushing a larger part of their production competing for the same 5% of drivers.
I have a ten-year-old Lexus GX 460 and I’m absolutely more in love with it more every day - aside from the fact that it’s paid for in full. It’s such a great vehicle, and I’ve own Lexuses that are both older and newer. But “Gabrielle” was a model and style that I really wanted, and I bought her on first sight. I’ve not been happy with a particular vehicle purchase in years. Go with Lexus, my friends!
I always go for Honda or Toyota for reliability. I had a 1994 Toyota Camry which was bought brand new and put about 310,000 miles on the car still with original engine and transmission with only oil change and regular maintenance no issues at all.
I got rid of my 2005 Toyota Corolla this past May after having It for nearly 20 years (I bought it in September 2004). You had over 200,000 miles on it. It ran, but I wouldn’t take it on long distances. Years before buying a new car, I told myself my next car would be a Honda, but I end up buying another Toyota. This is the fourth car I have ever owned and every single one of them have been Toyotas. When I bought the third Toyota, I actually didn’t realize it. Richard had owned were Toyota. It wasn’t a plan to only buy Toyotas but that is what happened.
I'd buy the Alfa Romeo Guilia if I didn't live in the snowy winters of Alberta, Canada. I do drive an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which, contrary to your video, has been totally trouble free during our 2 years of ownership. And, it's a brilliant car to drive.
Yet they discontinued the Saturn brand. Up until my Saturn Vue was hit and totaled a week and a half ago, all I'd ever owned is Saturn vehicles. They are hella reliable. I was so upset when GM discontinued them.
GM had a brand bloat, with so many different models and brands, no one could make heads or tails what the plan was. Hence, they got rid of Saab, Saturn, Oldsmobile and Buick is probably barely hanging on. Ultimately, GM had a limited budget to keep introducing new models, and too many brands and lines to manage.
BMW and BENZ had unique classic style. Last 5 years BMW car have gotten ugly those car designers should be fired they're destroying the brand . They haven't figured out yet why people not buying BMWs it's beyond me. BMW needs to wake up and become classic style again!
its the f-in grille that makes new BMWs look stupid. IDK why car designers are so married to a brands signature grille. Jeez what works on a 3 series may not look good on a XL Costco-i SUV. No one buys a car because of a grille, if it doesn't work dont use it. The Aztek actually didn't look bad but because it was a Pontiac they had to put a "pontiac" grille on it making it the butt of every joke.
Great that new car prices and hideous taxation now mean that buying them is beyond my means. Never seemed to matter what I bought, it always lost a huge percentage of its value in double quick time ( one cost me £9000 in six months, and it was a year old when I got it). The money can stay in the bank and the cars can rot on the forecourts.
Great thing living in a beautiful European capital city, you do not need to own a car. When I need a car, my smartphone shows the closest electric rental vehicle, just walk to it, swipe your phone, and drive off. Pay by the minute, hour, or day for it, and then just leave it wherever the hell you want to leave it. Simple, really. It's called COMMUNITY VEHICLES. Same thing with e-scooters and e-bikes.
I find this list a little sus….if so many BMWs are on the list, where is Audi and Mercedes sedans?? Are S classes sellling that well, or A8/S8? Come on, where did you get your data?
Plenty of consumers already know about all these cars that you mentioned. No need to di so anymore. They have lost their reputation and has become money pit. Consumers are staying away from them like a plague. Only the super rich and stupid people buy them. They are all junk.
This is as much a judgement for the marque as it is for the specific car. BMW is obviously shipping cars to dealers who still have tons of stock and forcing them to take it. They kept building them even when they were overstocked.
If we go by what the manufacturers wanted people to look at, I suggest you choose depending on the name of the car. Equinox - the Sun will be above the equator. Look at the Sun! Avenir - is french and means the future. Look at the future! In both cases, you're not looking at the road. cheers! / CS

The reason MINI's are not selling is because there is a stop sale. BMW won't allow them to leave the lot until the recall on the brakes for the new 25 model is resolved. Dealerships are being hit hard with only a few cars on their lot that can actually be sold.
Don't make any excuses for any of them. All the cars mentioned in this article are all lemon and money pit. Go and ask Scottie. A 5yrs old Toyota or Lexus is better than any of these junk.
@@taiwoidowu2854 Scottie knows both MINI and BMW are difficult to work on and expensive at that. But both brands are now among the best for reliability. The fact they won't let a car leave the lot knowing there could be a problem is why. If only Ford, GM, and Toyota would have done the same with its new Tundra. But no every single non hybrid engine in the 22-23 are having to be replaced with a new one. Some of those trucks cost $80,000 and more when new. Stop pretending Toyotas are what they once where. As for the reliability of MINI and BMW look at both Consumer Reports and I See Cars to see how reliable they have now become. The models that are not selling for the most part is the EV models, and the ones that are leaving the lot are not going for a huge or any discount at all.

It says something that five of the six least popular models were BMW. They "knew" that this EV nonsense was just a passing fad, they put their development money into better engines (what, a 3% mileage gain or something) instead of EVs. Now they are paying a terrible price for their hubris. You can't say we didn't warn them.
EV sales in general are hardly booming. And if protectionist policies are relaxed the cheaper chinese vehicles will slaughter the legacy carmakers . Until the tofu dreg quality begins to cause issues
@@brianmiller5444 EVs are booming everywhere but the US - because our gas prices are so cheap. (relative to the rest of the world) Plus our Oil Industry has put serious money into bad press. Also with the usual "gotta suck all the value outta everything" the main companies that sell charging have vastly overpriced it. US Oil has people who only drive 20-40 miles a day petrified with range anxiety even with 300 mile range electrics. I could charge once a week, much less every night in my garage at half the price. Kicking and screaming or not, in 20 years max we will be almost entirely EVs. Every 3-4 years battery prices go down, while range and safety go up. No wonder why there is 100% tax on Chinese cars. Huawei Aito M9 or Leopard 8 (let alone it's top version Yangwan U8) would absolutely destroy American market as it does inside China - Lixiang and Huawei and BYD cars caused BMW to sell XM with 40% discount under the table and 30% for X5. It's no comparison between their cars and these on American market
If they’re slashing prices on the Dodge Hornet, I would suggest to folks to go out & grab one! These are actually very good vehicles! They were just overpriced out of the gate. Get the Plug-In Hybrid if you can get one at the right price. Better yet: LEASE one, as they may not continue making these since they did so poorly out in the marketplace.
It’s like when Hummers were on the road. They used to be very popular but because of the price of gas, people stopped buying them. It’s not a necessity. It’s only a luxury.
Some American make vehicles are priced so high that people with bad credit can not afford them and people with good credit refuse to pay the high price and then the interest rate followed by the high insurance, remember your insurance is based on the value of your purchased vehicle.
I still see Ford dealers with brand new 2023’s and 2024 F150’s on dealer lots. Yet statistics still say it’s still the best selling vehicle in the U.S. I don’t understand.
Only car I’d consider buying on this list is the 5 series with B58 engine and possibly the 7 series with B58. But the recalls make them a bit more undesirable.
Daamn this list are mostly BMWs and that’s just sad. Used to love their design from 2014 to 2019 model year. Only owned one 2003 X5 and since then we moved to Lexus. Trusted brand👌🏼👌🏼
Those BMW's are really beautiful IMO. But can U imagine paying $150K when it becomes worth only $90K the day U bring it home ? And can U imagine the day your warranty runs out, your plastic fuel pump or timing chain needs replacement for $5K-$15K at BMW shop rates ? I'd rather have a mint classic '74 model 2002 like I did back in 1984. Those cars were so solid, so German uber-built and reliable, they are what vaulted BMW forward in the first place.
I am surprised Volvo did not make the list for its high cost and high cost of maintenance. The EV IN VOLVO is expensive also. But China owns volvo so possibly they can manipulate the price but replacement part are out of this world.
My local Volvo dealer now charges $300/hour. That's right, $300 per hour for shop time. Just a few years ago, lawyers were charging that much! Sadly, the actual technician doing the work will be lucky to get $25-30 (so basically 10% of what the customer pays) per hour. What a great world we live in, where the people that do the most, get the least.
Manufacturers didn't get the memo about US stagnant wages which haven't kept up with inflation. Those prices have to come down close to pre-pandemic prices if they want to keep selling vehicles. They're going to have to find a way to do this. Otherwise, we all know what happens to organisms that don't evolve and adapt.

Do you belive heated front seat s are an option for 1000 on new X3 in Canada. 😂😂

Grand Wagoneer's cost as much as $140,000, plus tax. How about a car payment of $2800?

I think people are beginning to realize that all the tech innovation is not worth the initial and replacement cost. Take fixing a problem with the Engine Control Module, by the time the tech identifies the problem plus replacing the module the cost is at $3000 to $5000 plus a two week timeline that your vehicle will be in the shop.

How common are ECM problems...? Not that common...
No interest in any of those overpriced, unreliable "luxury" vehicles.

I’m surprised Mercedes-Benz EV is not on the list
mercedes benz biggest problem is the fact that they are charging for additional features like heated seats or added RPMs. While thier GLC is their current midsized seller it does have it own issues, but benz has been able to weather such storms without any issues. plus their EVs are some the closest to their estimated ranges compared to other EVs. and in reality, most people buy the brand for the name rather then the car .
😂
We voted for politicians who made MPG, emissions, certain safety features amongst other things mandatory
Impossible to hit those standards with a carb engine with simple 4 speed transmission

Nobody’s stopping you from buying used cars that fit exactly the profile you’re looking for.

But no every single non hybrid engine in the 22-23 are having to be replaced with a new one. Some of those trucks cost $80,000 and more when new. Stop pretending Toyotas are what they once where.
I like the X5 M. Depreciation is a major issue. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to suck that up these days.
Waaaay tooo expensive. I will keep on driving my 2004 Lesabre, has 175 k miles and still runs good..
3800 V6 sure beats the garbage carmakers are selling today.
@TC-iz5hr , yup..that GMC 3800 has been around for decades and has proven itself to be reliable, time after time..
Do not buy prices have to come down !!! 😅😅😅
Even with a 30% discount, these models would still move slowly....the i7 @ $128K would still be a tough sell @ $95K....
No pun intended but Shocking all these EV’s not selling well!
The worst investment a human being can do is to buy a new car, overpriced and low quality with a bunch of unnecessary gadgets
Speaking for yourself much?
If no one buy a new car , who can sell you the 2nd hand car ?
Price point? It’s PRICE! Drop the stupid “Pricepoint”
Well said.
Folks might pay more or less depending on a number of things: hence price point, not price.
I'll take the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the BMW's any day!!!!
The Hornet is just a "camouflaged" Alfa Romeo, thus potential customers smell the rotten reliability problem!
My newest car is 2004, fixable with a minimum of electronics, never had a check engine light on my 1925 Buick or 1928 Chevy
JAG U ARR - Is it so difficult?
Manufacturers didn't get the memo about US stagnant wages which haven't kept up with inflation. Those prices have to come down close to pre-pandemic prices if they want to keep selling vehicles. They're going to have to find a way to do this. Otherwise, we all know what happens to organisms that don't evolve and adapt.
I find it interesting that in the United States, the Julia isn’t popular while in Italy, you see those things everywhere they even use them as police cars.
